541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How discipline are you in managing your bankroll? on: December 27, 2023, 03:09:00 AM
I believe that in any financial-related issue or field, not just gambling, effective account management is the most crucial factor, and it's something you should master first before engaging in any form of it. Like you said, even if you have a good strategy, a high win rate, but if you don't manage your account well, you'll still incur losses, as simple as increasing the betting amount when losing. In my view, that's also a form of poor account management. Besides, profit-taking and resetting the account after significant wins or achieving the initial set goals are also essential aspects to manage successfully.
It was not just a crucial thing to do but it was the most difficult one especially when we fall into addiction (thank god I was not).
That is why we should have learned how to value our money and know how to spend it wisely. We can spend some to gambling but it should not surpass our limits. Learning can't be done quickly but it would happen if we never focus on our gambling life. Yes, even though our win rate is high but spending more will still end up more on losses rather than profit. Sometimes we get surprised that we empty our bank account and compromise our finances because of our gambling habits.
542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 26, 2023, 03:07:42 PM

My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?
What does it actually you mean about mentally unstable OP?
As long as a gambler never goes against the rules or something he can still place his bets rightly, it is okay. In fact, the person who pointed out has never been violent so there is no reason he should be banned from playing, and who knows, with the help of gambling his condition never gets worse. Gambling welcomes everyone, if you have money and you know how to gamble, well, you can play.

The casino owners see that the person wants to play despite his condition which gives him happiness. Why we should not let it happen?
543  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 26, 2023, 01:19:06 PM
Losing is not unusual for someone and a gambler who doesn't know about gambling. And it is not a question of why they lose their money because they even don't spend time to learn about it. Even though we say that more losses happen in gambling however this could be changed if we know what we are doing and if we choose the right game to gamble. In fact, why we should choose pure luck games if we can choose to gamble where we can maximize our knowledge and skills?

We lose somehow because of these things
 - lack of knowledge
 - emotions
 - choice of game to bet
544  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fear of December dump is fading away - for Bitcoin on: December 26, 2023, 12:31:03 PM
December is a crucial month because sometimes its good but in the near time would be bad , have seen how many December all my years here and until now i cannot read what will happens next.
but this one seems to be going right as december fear seems to be ending this year .
Crypto is crucial all the time and you have said it already why. That is why we don't have to worry about every drop moment in the market or get hyped when pumps come but rather remain calm and focus on our goal. A reason why it was hard to expect or assume that what happened last year in December would be the same as this year.

We must be thankful that this month is likely to end with a good price and must be thankful that the behavior of the current investors has also changed. Otherwise, we experience the dumping sentiment as they may be selling off their coins as the price increases which often happen in the past.

545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best piece of advice to anyone going into bitcoin on: December 25, 2023, 09:54:23 PM
Buy a little bit of bitcoin every week don't care if it's a $1, $5, $10, $100, figure out what you can afford every week and buy it, get rid of unnecessary expenses or whatever you can think of getting rid of and spend it on bitcoin
5 to 10 years if you buy some every week you will be a multi millionaire
Instead of buying nonsense stuff, better spend it to buy Bitcoin...this will happen to those who have an investment mindset and want to secure their future rather than enjoying life today. This is also the best way instead of saving our money in the banks.

Yes, who cares about the amount we invest because the most important is that we spend money for our future. If we never get rich after 10 years of doing this still okay at least we have money that we can use in the case that we are unable to work anymore.
546  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is hard!!! on: December 25, 2023, 09:31:27 PM
Trading is a hard no doubt about that. It is also not for everyone. As OP has mentioned, those who can stick to it till the end wins the prize. Those who say that it's a Ponzi scam, are the ones who lack in knowledge. Lack of knowledge is the only thing that keeps them from believing what trading actually is.

I have seen many people who are trading and learning constantly but still they are not profitable,
I don't know why some kids are profitable (I seen interviews) and other people who are trading for decades take courses from other traders or attend seminars from other traders.
they are still learning and not profitable, I have seen some seminars on youtube and interviews.

That tells us that even learning from experts or from professionals who have a successful trading story couldn't assure that we do and act like them. They are just showing steps based on the predictable price, not based on the real market. We have to note that the market is too volatile and this is the reason why we often fail due to our different market approach and thinking. I was certain that we couldn't have the same response to the market movement especially if we are using different coins. Expert has their secrets which they never tell during seminars and that is their ticket to success.
547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 25, 2023, 04:24:17 PM
If a new casino launches an announcement here in Bitcointalk what are the requirements or criteria that will make you trust them?
Within six months after they launched their announcement here

Launching a review and signature campaign?

No complaints or scam accusations?

Very responsive representative here?

Good reviews from casino review sites?

Please vote and tell us why this is your choice all reasons are valid points but if you're going to pick one that will be the best answer what will it be?

Launching a review and signature campaign is not a metric to say if that site is trustworthy or not. Well, the rest of those choices can be but not that one. It happens in the forum already and many of them turn to a scam after receiving and hearing complaints about it. Besides, the review and signature campaign serves as market promotion to gain popularity and to let the community know about this project, scammers can do that. Even having no complaints and a responsive support system, these things still never give us assurance which is why we have to act cautiously. Well, at least having things gives us some hope and fate. Reputation really matters...
548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin as digital currency on: December 24, 2023, 04:43:02 PM
As long as Bitcoin remains decentralized, the government can't stop its growth and market adoption. But when it talks about as a currency, that is still something uncertain and why? Whether we like it or not, the participation of the government becomes a major factor for its consideration. It didn't look good really but people got their trust when Bitcoin is officially declared as a legal tender in a particular place or a country. This is why I could say that the future of Bitcoin lies somehow in government support or overview otherwise, that will remain as an investment, not currency.
549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do casino owners benefit from creating multiple casinos? on: December 22, 2023, 09:01:30 PM
These are some benefits they would get;
 - popularity
 - earning more
 - winning the competition

We can't see an instant benefit from this because of huge expenses upon the start but in the long run, the casino owners benefit more. In the business world, the mindset of the owner is to cater to all gamblers or attract people to gamble which is why adding more casinos could be the best thing to do. In fact, as we can see, a lot of people become a gambler because a lot of casinos are available these days (offline/online).
550  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Most Traders are Not Profitable on: December 22, 2023, 08:34:58 PM
In my own point of view, 95% is way too much, at least 90% is ok.
I have been trading for quite some time now, and I can testify that even though I have got some losses at some point in time, but I am still profitable.
There are so many good traders I know very well in  the business that are profitable, even though there profit wouldn't be that much, but at least they are not at the losing end of the market.
Whether it was 90% or 95%, no data that would prove how many traders lost their money and how money succeeded, it was just an assumption. But doesn't matter because we know that more traders suffered losses rather than making a profit and that is due to these things;
 - lack of knowledge
 - ineffective strategies
 - mindset/decision making

Well, of course, it is a domino effect, if a trader doesn't have knowledge and skills, we can never expect passive results but losses. Missing any of those things, nothing happens in our trade, we just fail.
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you take out your investment when in profit? on: December 22, 2023, 03:05:04 PM
Emotions run high when trading, it’s important to check one’s own emotions when making trade decisions. In your case, it’s obvious your greed is driving you to want more profits. When in a winning position, traders often lose their fear of losing and become overconfident in their trading plan. You forget altcoins are volatile and are often not worth hodling for long term.
Well, I think a lot of people are like that. when they have made a lot of profit, they expect more profit, in fact I often think like that when I am profitable.
However, securing the capital we have is the most important thing. If someone has earned their capital when trading, then they can try to make as much money as possible without fear of loss. however, selling some is not a bad thing. However, it all depends on the person's decision. If he targets big profits, then that is the decision he chooses, and he must be ready to accept every risk.
What I usually do is withdraw my capital and let my profit become a new investment capital. Once I secure my capital, I keep it rolling and withdraw when I already have earned a lot. That is likely a crazy thing to do but in the world of investment, we should be practical and keep on our plan. It is not like we are avoiding risk but it was a smart idea because greedy people most of them fail and lose great opportunities. We don't want it to happen which is why we have anticipated the market before it will be going late.
552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling sites and current transactions fee on: December 22, 2023, 02:22:21 PM
the problem of high bitcoin fees is not too much of a problem for online casinos considering that they have quite a lot of money in their vaults and which they can use to compensate a little to reduce the fees that will be charged to gamblers when making withdrawals. but the problem is that for gamblers who want to make deposits, it is best for them to use altcoins which have smaller fees.
The best thing to do is don't make withdrawals every day or deposit in order to save transaction fees.
Choosing altcoins as an alternative is way better, I did it most of the time when Mempool was busy. There is always a solution to all problems which is why we should not limit our crypto knowledge.

Quote
and this is my reason why i prefer using litecoin compared to bitcoin when gambling, because the fees for using litecoin are much less than with bitcoin and the waiting time is much shorter.
XRP and TRX also have cheap transaction fees. As long as it is available, we can use it as a gateway.

The current situation is quite disappointing but we still have to move. It will be over soon but now, we should look for a way to cut our transaction fees.
553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: December 22, 2023, 01:29:13 PM
No, actually Bitcoin make rich get richer, Bitcoin is risky asset for most people, when they don't have a lot money, they're not dare to invest in Bitcoin. Although Bitcoin could make you have an opportunity to multiply your capital, poor people don't want to take risk and hold it for long term.

The problem of poverty is education and access to resource, not Bitcoin or other investment.
Indeed, we see opportunity in investing in Bitcoin but yes, this won't make someone's life change if they don't invest. Investing in Bitcoin is just for those who have faith, have money, and are risk-takers. Bitcoin is not the solution to poverty but can be a great tool to improve our living. Solving poverty issues should come from Government projects, not Bitcoin. But also, if we want to uplift our living, we have not relied on the government but rather find ways.

Yes, we need proper education as it is a medium to increase our chances of getting a job and working permanently. Too hard to stop poverty when our country leaders have done nothing to the community.
554  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You lose more when you over trade on: December 22, 2023, 12:35:40 PM
very true. especially when trading futures. I really experienced this. taught me the importance of emotional management apart from asset and risk management. in terms of control, when we have made a profit of several tens of percent, it should be part of our daily routine or a few hours of rest to calm our psyche. I did this and it proved to be quite helpful. In essence, greedy people here will lose, it is real. This even happens to many people from me, my friends, the community I follow, it even seems that controlling emotions is more difficult than managing assets and risks.
That will certainly happen to someone who was taught that trading is easy and honestly, most of us are a victim of such an assumption until the time we realize that it was wrong. That is why we should treasure all the experiences we have in the past and all the mistakes we commit because in this way we learn and even enhance our knowledge and skills as we know this will help us to succeed. Nothing is impossible as long as if we are willing to change and accept mistakes but if we keep insisting that we are right, we only end up failing.
 - knowns how to control our emotion
 - knows our limitations
 - improve market understanding
555  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: December 22, 2023, 12:11:49 PM
Yeah you read the question correctly.

I got this taught while involved in discussion with some of my friend today, it was round of friends and we were practically catching up after some old memories in high school so discussion led to discussion and the issue of regretting to ever knowing how to gamble came up and believe me it was a very serious issue as one of my friend was practically blaming the other for the whole problem is currently going through right now as he constantly gambles his money away and at what avail? was the question being asked to the friend who actually inviting him to a gambling house during highschool. The matter looks childish  at first because the whole table of friends there were all gamblers including myself but we all never reached the height of complaining or blaming someone for our gambling ethics.

So I was wondering if some folks here too feel the same way or it was just a matter of grudge and hatred for the particular fellow to stir up such arguement.
Beckoning on the fact that I am above age 18 automatically I am an adult and should take responsibility on the consequences of my actions and inactions either or not I was talked into doing it. It is coward for a person to be blame another for their addiction to gambling because they were introduced into it by that person, so then what stops you from quiting, is it the same person too or you just lack the courage and discipline to be decisive for yourself?

Besides, we don't have a reason because that was our personal decision, not theirs. As we decide to gamble it means that we are also ready to face the consequences of our doing and decisions and whether it will harm us or not, that was our responsibility. Might gambling have been introduced to us and we can decline it if we want but because we try, therefore, we are also aware of what possibly happen to us. Indeed, quitting is a great option rather than blaming others and dealing with it.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Secure your crypto wealth by not having it all in crypto on: December 21, 2023, 10:33:05 PM
Diversifying your assets or investments is a must. There is always a scene that we will never be expected to happen, even if we always make sure of the security of our wallet, the hackers will always find a way to breach our security. Even in our cryptocurrency holdings, we should consider using different wallets to avoid losing all of it if our wallet gets hacked.
Not unless you carelessly store your keys/password anywhere, especially if you keep it on your computer.
However, this won't won't give us 100% safety assurance but we can't just think that we can be reactive because of that situation. So instead of focusing only on crypto assets, we also invest in the real stock market. It is not totally a diversification but it was a smart strategy, sharing funds is somewhat a way of not losing our entire funds once hackers get into our fence.

We have to consider these things when choosing an investment,
 - funds security
 - investment strategy
 - profit gain
557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All thanks to my family they contributed and bought bitcoin for me on: December 21, 2023, 09:52:36 PM
We are at the end of 2023 but what awaits us in 2024 none of us can say for sure. In other years the market is slightly dumping from the beginning to the mid-term. Perhaps, considering the past, you have an idea that the market will dump again in the mid-2024 period. It is only probability and there is no guarantee so the market can go in any direction. The market can go in any direction at any time, as you fear the market will go down in the middle of 2024, I think it will not take much time for the market to go down, the market can go down in less time. But don't be harassed by such rumours, have faith in your investment, surely something good is waiting ahead.
Of course, we can still experience ups and downs on prices and it is normal but we believe that 2024 is a good year for the crypto market.
We never know what exactly happen next year but this is not the ground enough to consider that we have to worry about our investment and become uncertain, we never grow with that kind of thinking instead, we have to build trust and confidence.

What happened to OP is a great decision from the family, there is trust and it never be wasted.
Well, I hope that OP can manage it carefully and be able to reach their goal.
558  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 21, 2023, 02:44:46 PM

In the current scenario when AI has the ability to swap face and make it sound like an original influencer or a celebrity talking. It is better to research before you invest to gain double or triple multiplier. The best you can do is to avoid them.

...
The best thing is not to ask anyone through any social media platform but rather do personal searches and find the answer. In many cases happen that those people who have helped us, chatting with us are also the ones who took advantage while entrusting him and scam us in the end. Scammers usually are very responsive and feel close to us until such time that our trust develops and use that as a tool to scam. Those who have not experienced yet, better be watchful of whom they talk to and of course, must have set a gap from strangers because we never know their real intentions from helping us.
559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: December 21, 2023, 12:13:41 PM
There's no way to know whether this is just a joke or a serious advice. It could actually be simply sarcasm. We don't know what context this was posted.

However it seems the obvious exaggeration in the statement means it isn't really a serious statement. You don't take it as it is, literally. It seems it is for fun. The first line itself is clearly not serious. It's an ironic statement to remind the members of the opposite, that you can't just continue gambling and lose everything to the point that you need to take a loan to place more bets.
I find it as a joke. A gambler will never be that stupid to follow that (joke) advice. The message also tells us something -- gambling is just for fun, and nothing has to be serious about this, or else, this will lead us to take loans and our lives miserable. If we are into gambling, we make sure that we have nothing to regret when losing instead, accept the fact that we are not lucky today and stop, maybe the next, and come back again.

If we understand how gambling works, we don't need to be emotional. And avoid chasing our losses in order to avoid more losses.
560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think that this is aperfect analogy of how gambling addiction starts? on: December 21, 2023, 11:29:11 AM
If Andreas knows that humans are very emotional creatures and irrational beings despite all the rational evidence against a particular cause or a particular action, then he'd understand that gambling doesn't care about one's rationalization irrespective of how intellectually sound they are. I find this analogy to be quite similar to those who engage in other addictive, self-destructive habits. This analogy fits with many others to explain the how problem gambling starts.
Humans are truly emotional in everything, that is somewhat a unique creation but because of that thing, we never win everything we want like winning in gambling. And that simple analogy gives an idea to the casino owners and takes advantage of our weakness. Addiction really exists because we let it happen and because we let our emotions control our minds. The solution to this problem is just ourselves, not the other person because we are the ones who manage ourselves, not them.
