Of course. This one makes a lot of sense. These coins are designed to be thrown around and abused. It does make me wonder how many ideas have been inhibited by the inability to get hold of them, but of course there'll be a lot of clueless people happy to burn through tons of them in pursuit of dead end ideas.

All depends on how many coins you have. If I had 10,000 I would've been perfectly happy to get rid at any point in the last 3-4 years. $10 mil is more than serviceable. 200 mil works for me too.

I'd much rather get rid when things were relatively peaceful. I can't imagine exchange services will handle future mania any better than they have in the past, maybe considerably worse.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why test coins are so hard to come by? There should be millions of them flying gaily around. Is everyone secretly hoping they'll be worth something some day?

If I'd put in $100 to get that $100 million then absolutely. I wouldn't really care if it dropped 10x from here. If I'd put in $180 million to get that $100 million I would be a bit more annoyed, and weird.

Aye. I guess it's about risk. To many of us lot the risk comes gravitating towards such a set up. For the probable majority it's the direct opposite.

As above it would be interesting to see how a legit hack would be handled by a legit company, not a wing it special like Bitfinex. I presume if such a service were to have verifiable coins they'd go with a proven custodian. And if THEY got hacked the entire scene would certainly pivot.

It's not always 'the poor'. It could be a straightforward emergency such as a natural disaster. It could be building infrastructure that does exactly what your quote advocates. In both of those cases there are - some - longstanding organisations who'll do a rather more professional job than some rando on here.

When you deposit to a bank you are giving up your money and accepting an IOU. This is exactly the same but also worse as you've no idea if there's any real Bitcoin backing it, at least a straightforward bank failure has an element of government protection. If the company becomes toast then you're just another creditor and one at the bottom of the list.

With a proper exchange or any service that allows the real deal in and out you have the option of complete control over your destiny even if many won't take it up.

Then you're going to get screwed at some point. I would never use an exchange with optional KYC unless I'd done that KYC because if you use it a lot the chances of your funds being frozen are much, much higher than somewhere you've already cleared yourself with.

There are properly decentralised options where freezing can't happen but there aren't many options. That's what you need to investigate.

Check the wording. They're offering 5% to anyone makes an intro to the hacker or 25 to the hacker themselves. There's no mention of 'hunters' or ultimately dealing with anyone other than the thief at all. They haven't put up a wanted poster. They're pragmatic enough to realise no outside party is going to get anywhere for now at least.

I occasionally notice things in the local press about computer repairers taking massive advantage of the data they have access to.

It's entirely down to who you choose. It might be a company made up of techno monks who've been doing it since birth or it might be some freak who got out jail yesterday and will store his child porn on your disk for a bit.

If I were in the market for this I'd be looking for a place with miles of track record, multiple branches and government and big business contracts, but they're the ones who are going to cost the big bucks others have mentioned.  

Some random computer repairer? I wouldn't do it if there was any risk.

Like anything Russian regarding crypto I'll wait for it to officially pass before believing anything. I expect between now and then Putin will champion Rapecoin one day and then threaten to murder anyone who looks at r/bitcoin the following day.

I have absolutely no idea what that means and it's staying that way. I've only sent two feedbacks I think both of which were for actual transactions of a sort on here. Beyond that my eyes glaze over and my tiddler goes limp.
