561  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Megaasic.ru - Scammers on: January 18, 2024, 10:29:29 AM
Although I knew that there was a problem, Google Translate is not professional to understand the details. Quoting part of the text and translating it into English would be useful. Is Megaasic.ru one of the cloud services that suddenly began to appear, or is it a company that has a headquarters but decided to turn to scam?

This is a fake ASIC store. The company address on the website is fake. Clients say that there is no such company there. Phone numbers can be registered in someone else's documents. Payment is accepted in cryptocurrency, so it is impossible to return the payment.

There are also a lot of such fakes in Ukraine.

Vega 7 video cards are already very difficult to find on sale and they are very poorly repaired.
I bought used video cards from miners, but they all had various overclocking problems or were mining unstable. Therefore, I advise all beginners only new video cards
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do you own a mining rig? on: January 17, 2024, 10:46:02 AM
I would like to know if there is anyone here really own a mining rig and is still profitable. I have seen people buying few ASIC's and still consider mining a worst investment due to poor ROI. How many ASIC's do you own for now? Also have few more questions in mind.
If you read the mining news, many large companies managed to pay back their equipment in 1 year, but the price of Bitcoin was rising.
Check out the ASIC calculator
https://www.asicminervalue.com/
If your electricity costs less than 5 cents and you can mine without additional costs on your territory, then mining is profitable.
564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Just inherited 100 RX 470 8GB cards and may have access to free electricity. on: January 17, 2024, 10:39:14 AM
Currently 65 dollars a day in profit. God I hope a Kawpow ASIC is never released.

okay got to get the 470s back on line.  nice
I'm hoping too see 1-2 dollars rev per rx470 a day in a bull run like 2021 but this card design is pushing a decade now =/
Rx470 were giving even 5 dollars per day in 2021  Cool
This was a flaw of the ASIC manufacturers.
Now there are already good universal chips for replacing processors in mining and for replacing video cards on profitable coins, ASICs are also appearing very quickly.
In my opinion, 50 cents per day of profit for this video card on free electricity is already very good.

Damomine / aleominer  v2.3.9
Full Changelog: enhance performance
https://github.com/damomine/aleominer/releases/tag/v2.3.9

Damominer has released a long-awaited update for video cards, but there are ASICs based on this algorithm and video cards are not very profitable there.
Maybe mining will be so profitable that video cards will also receive part of the profit Smiley

NVIDIA is reportedly set to unveil its new RTX 40 SUPER series in January 2024, with the 4070 SUPER taking the lead as the first card to hit the market. Sources suggest that NVIDIA will showcase the new series at CES 2024 during its Special Address livestream. While board partners are expected to reveal their designs shortly thereafter, the 4070 SUPER, in particular, is projected to be available starting January 17.

Hello everyone, maybe this question is off-topic, but please tell me why social media constantly compares the 1080 Ti card with other video cards and says that 1080Ti is one of the best cards in terms of price-performance ratio.  I want to build a PC and I wonder if it is really that good. It is old, isn't it?

it is old but it is pretty good used on ebay.

A lot depends on your budget.

I have a few used ones if you want to get one.

$200 for a 1080ti vs  $225 for a 3060
In my opinion, 20-30 dollars is not much for the difference in the budget for purchasing a video card. There are few of these video cards on sale, and if you look for these video cards in good condition, then there are even fewer of them. This is a good option if your tasks require a powerful, cheap video card with 11 GB of memory.
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Steam recommends RTX 3060 on: January 17, 2024, 09:41:49 AM
12gb is future proof though. Also the 3060 is 12gb, not 8. I never said the steam data isn't real, I just said that 3060 is the most popular VFM option due to having 12 gb of VRAM. 40XX series is getting a bad rap in reviews due to having an inflated price and offering little more compared to 30XX. Lots of people are downright skipping 4060s for 3060s.

I like used 3060 and 3070 series if they can be bought at a good price and in the hope that these cards will be relevant in the future. These video cards have a good return on investment. AMD video cards are losing in mining ratings, and 3060 and 3070 will be popular among gamers in the next 2-3 years.

This topic will be useful for Russian miners, because there is advertising in RuNet and there are already complaints that the company is deceiving customers.
https://miningclub.info/threads/megaasic-ru-moshenniki.106824/
The deception is that the company takes an advance payment in cryptocurrency and does not send mining equipment to the client. Follow the updates at https://miningclub.info/.

New ASICs are no longer suitable for standard household outlets Smiley

It looks like you will need to down clock the gear.

maybe run 160th not 200th

or pick up this

 https://www.ebay.com/itm/126119287029?

now this says step down but switch input to out put an it will boost you 32 volts.

this would solve the problem for a 1 miner garage units.

my home gets 238 to 243

add 32 I am at

270 to 275

the miner  psu claims to handle 277.. I have used these with my whatsminers and they work
In the Russian energy system, everything is much simpler, because all houses are connected to a single transformer and the voltage in the electrical network is 220 volts. In villages there is much less, because the old transformers are overloaded, but there is no need for additional devices. In the USA there are 2 voltages: 120 and 240 Volts?

Why spend money on marketing if you can raise prices and reduce supplies?

It seems that the situation with a shortage of GeForce gaming video cards due to Nvidia’s emphasis on AI accelerators is not only possible, but is already happening.

Global shipments of Nvidia gaming GPUs have reportedly begun to decline sharply. Citing sources in the Taiwanese industry, MyDrivers reports that in the last quarter of last year, there were fewer GeForce gaming video cards on the market. There are no specific indicators, nor are there any other details, but it is reported that the situation is observed everywhere: in China, in the USA, and in Europe. For example, the top-end RTX 4090 simply disappeared from some trading platforms, including Amazon. We have already spoken about the greatly increased price for this card more than once.

The source attributes this situation to the fact that Nvidia is now actively increasing production of GPUs for AI accelerators. Possibly to the detriment of gaming GPUs. It is possible that the new RTX 40 Super cards, which will be presented one of these days, will initially be in a certain shortage, which, as always, leads to an increase in prices.

I clock ebay searches nvidia is getting harder to find. on ebay searches.

this the list for 3070 ti. 300 to 700 bucks very few cards.

In Russia, there are a lot of video cards used after mining, although it is because China is close.
Now Nvidia will work well on the sale of professional video cards, and then, when the demand for game graphics cards will appear, they will increase deliveries again.

Listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX: PHX), Phoenix Group announced its latest agreement with Bitmain. The company stated that its $187 million investment was in Antminer-brand bitcoin mining rigs from the ASIC manufacturer. However, Phoenix did not reveal the total hashrate capacity obtained or the precise model types of the rigs purchased. The deal follows Phoenix’s recent procurement with another significant acquisition, this time from Bitmain’s rival, Microbt.

Micron announces 32 Gbit FeRAM Chip: A Leap Forward in Memory Technology
In December 2023, US-based semiconductor company Micron announced at the International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) the development of a high-capacity FeRAM memory chip boasting a staggering capacity of 32 Gbits.

FeRAM memory technology has seen around two decades of existence, with usual chip capacities ranging between 8 to 128 Mbits. Micron’s new development, in contrast, offers significantly increased storage capacity that can potentially revolutionize non-volatile memory technology.

I have a regular 2K monitor and 6 GB of video memory is enough for games. I'm sure Steam shows honest data every month. And the 8 GB RTX 3060 video card and its modifications should serve gamers for a very long time. Therefore, Nvidia is reducing the supply of gaming GPUs to its partners.
