It is always good to diversify. Gox as a last resort might be okay but risky (as you saw first hand).

Too true Chaang.

While the handling of this by Gox is less than stellar I share part of the blame for not backing up my 2FA keys.
Another valuable lessoned learned at a fairly cheap price Wink
583  Economy / Gambling / Re: Regarding Vague / Open to Interpreation Wagers on: May 06, 2013, 04:26:38 AM
It was not delivered to anyone. Luke-Jr did not take it, hold it, see it with his eyes, whatever, he was just given access to the unit over ssh. Not delivered or shipped, whatever definition you use.

I suspect as much myself, but has this been proven and was it a condition of the bet that the recipient provide indisputable proof such as delivery invoice ?
584  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiPoker.org - 0.1 BTC Gtd Hourly Freerolls - Lowest rake in the industry on: May 06, 2013, 04:25:12 AM
hello, may I suggest that you have a trusted AV Vendor do a report on your clients exe, it will set most users mind to ease.
Also, if you do not already you should have hashes of the client download file so users can confirmed it has not been tampered with.

I love poker, will try and set up an account tonight, was on seals for the first time in 3 months last night Cheesy
585  Economy / Gambling / Re: Regarding Vague / Open to Interpreation Wagers on: May 06, 2013, 04:22:17 AM
Betsofbitco.in should have selected X amount of trusted members who had BFL orders, any of them could able to provide photo and shipping reciept on recieval to confirm the bet.  Also the shipping method should have been specified and require scanned invoice to verify it was indeed shipped and not an empty shoebox.

While there are conceivable situations in which that bet might have been difficult to resolve, what actually happened is not one of those situations.  They didn't ship anything whatsoever.  It never even left their offices.  It certainly didn't leave by the date specified in the bet.

Yes, unfortunately when looking @ the dictionary definition while shipping an item original meant literally "by ship" it now means to deliver.
Im no Judge Judy but LukeJr could go and wait at the receptionists while Soony waddles out with his parcel and hand deliver it to him and it would still be considered "shipped".

Captain Hindsight tells me that

* delivered via courier to a recipient's postal address/place of work/home

should have been one of the bet conditions.
586  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: May 06, 2013, 04:16:57 AM
So long as there's something indicating they did this thing and people can look it up for themselves, I think it's an okay solution.

The fact they didn't pay out on a winning bet is what's important, not whether or not they're "scammers."  I think they are, but that they did not pay out is unquestionable.

Yes, its part of their history now and all future players need to know how the operators of both sites handled resolving a vague bet.

2013, using Gox  Roll Eyes

It is your own fault OP.

GOX has the best rates the best for selling btc and sending AUD to an AU bank account, they only charge $10 aud for the transfer (for any amount). Id recommend anyone in Australia to use MTGox for putting funds into their bank account.

Also I love their android app for trading Smiley

The other exchanges I also use are:

bitnz.com - AU citizens can have NZ bank accounts, so I built up about 5k NZD just from catching the bounces, keeping that for a nice holiday for myself.
btc-e.com (love the trollbox, registering OKpay to do my withdrawls).

Simple enough, post the song, music video that puts a smile back on your face:

You know, you come from nothing
You're going back to nothing
What have you lost? Nothing!

Does anybody have a list? I don't want to invest in any scams.

I do, its very short:

* bitcoin

that is all.
591  Economy / Gambling / Regarding Vague / Open to Interpreation Wagers on: May 06, 2013, 03:45:07 AM
DONT DO IT

The headaches Im seeing recently from the betsofbitco.in and bitbet.us fiasco's is crazy.

Site Operators:
* Start being more responsible if you wish to host these obscure wagers.
* Ensure the bet can be verified without questions being raised.

Players:
* Treat wagers like contract (which they basically are). If unsure of the wording request clarification and that the clarification be attached to the original wager for all to see.
* If you cannot get clarification DONT BET.

How these bets could have been handled better.

Betsofbitco.in should have selected X amount of trusted members who had BFL orders, any of them could able to provide photo and shipping reciept on recieval to confirm the bet.  Also the shipping method should have been specified and it should have required a scanned copy of the shipping invoice to verify it was indeed shipped and not an empty shoebox.

bitbet.us - This site hosts a bet about perfomance specifications and fails to quote them anywhere meaning we have to rely on the most recent figures released by BFL before the bet was made. How easy is it to cite your sources ?, really unprofessional.

592  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: May 06, 2013, 03:27:14 AM
Quote
• Before April 1st 2013, at least one BFL customer with a bitcointalk.org forum account established prior to the bet's opening date shall post detailed and credible photos of the device on the forum, including photos of it operating, and report its hashrate. This customer cannot be a BFL employee.

So my only remaining question at this point is, was LukeJr a customer of BFL ?

Yes = outcome FALSE
No = outcome TRUE

Regarding the bet being hosted despite being open to interpretation - very very bad form on the part of betsofbitco.in - this makes them (in this instance at least) incompetent but not scammers.

Myself and a workmate both were eyeing off this bet but decided against it due to the wording being to vague.
If this kind of thing keeps happening I do not see a future for bitcoin wagering sites.

Bolded the important part in red those like MrPOO-ER who have obvious reading disabilities.

Addressing the lies in this thread:

You are wasting your breath. Mem is a dishonest piece of shit,

Oh really, quote me one time where I lied.

Im quoting one of your lies right now you lying piece of shit.

Quote
he's here strictly to fish for possible reasons he might use to justify - no matter how superficially - propping this scamsite.
Nope, its why I striked them out of the list until I felt the matter was resolved after hearing from all parties involved. They now have a permanent asterix next to their name as does bitbet.us.

Quote
He's trolling some other thread looking for the exact reverse, possible reasons he might use to justify
Lying again, you were caught out ripping off clients on your own site - this is why your spending so much time here trying to fling shit on betsofbitco.in.

Quote
Apparently the fact that BitBet killed Betsofbitco.in in the marketplace is kinda difficult to swallow for his employer.)

Wow, you really are delusional arent you.

Quote
He has a history of shady dealing of this sort.

Provide quotes or again prove  that you are a liar.

Quote
His concern is singular: to somehow scrape together something which which may be confused with an argument in favor of his sponsors by noobs/clueless people. That is all.
That is a very apt description of yourself, my what a warped twisted mind you have.

Unlike yourself I have been asking for citations the entire time, Im used to dealing with liars like yourself - its why I cant operate on what 1 player claims, I need proof.

Quote
PS. Mem, you might as well go make a new handle. This one is screwed.
Im here for the long haul Smiley Keep trying your best to destroy my character by lying about me.

Reason being that if he doesn't acknowledge the true facts that are laid out in this thread

What true facts, where is this summary you claim and links and quotes to back it up.
594  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: May 06, 2013, 03:14:31 AM
If mem ignores what has been pointed out by myself and Syke, then it seems what you say would be true.

If he's going to do that he probably shouldn't have even posted in the first place. Reason being that if he doesn't acknowledge the true facts that are laid out in this thread it will be hard evidence showing that the list is a sham.

Obviously if he comes to his senses and actually looks at what has gone on here that won't be the case. And he won't lose credibility from this specific thread. Although there seem to be other things going on that I wasn't aware of before that do not pertain to the matter we are discussing now.

The decision has already been made, dont like it email me with your reasoned argument.

Quoting that racist scammer MPO-ER is not doing you any favours.
595  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: May 06, 2013, 03:12:18 AM
Added bitbet.us and noted the site is potentially a scam.
The site will remain scored out in my list due to being operated by the racist business MPEx.

bitbet.us฿0.100฿?Bet on anything฿0.100฿∞* Admin is an outspoken racistRacism
* Site operator potentially involved in bet scam
Admin is a turd on the forums MrPOO-ER.

Unscored the betsofbitco.in entry but I shall leave the asterix against its name.
I do not see any scam here, just a very poor decision by the site operator to allow a vague bet description.
596  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX Support - Dont Get your account frozen on: May 06, 2013, 03:01:48 AM
So what happens is yes, my orders do get frozen then dropped onto the market.

Fortunately I have confirmed with mtgox that should I have a buy order set at $88 (which I did)
and the current price were say $82, Id start paying for bitcoins at $82 UP TO $88 until my order volume was filled.

Given Im down to the 0.2% trade fees on mtgox this is not going to hurt me nearly as much as I expected.
In fact given my recent luck catching the floor again @ $88 Id safely say I can absorb the small loss if any Smiley

Other people that lock themselves out may find this info useful Smiley
597  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX Support - Dont Get your account frozen on: May 06, 2013, 02:58:37 AM
Yer it worked out better than I hoped, I managed to catch a drop to $88 with the bulk of my funds and resell @ 20% profit Cheesy

Ignore MrPOO-ER guys and girls, he thinks he can find misery in the forums but doesn't realize it follows him everywhere.   Grin Grin Grin
598  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: arby.pl - free arbitrage calculator for BTC-e on: May 06, 2013, 02:51:10 AM
can someone explain how you read the profit on this?  I am not understanding. At first I thought the last column was going to show you the profit made.

It shows how much btc you will have at the end. If the number is larger than 1 then you will profit

What Blazen said.
599  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [WOW JUST WOW] BFL customer service terms on: May 06, 2013, 02:45:18 AM
You'll find those are the unwritten rules that apply to every customer service dept everywhere.

Its true, Ive run several ISP's in my time and also acted as level 3 tech support.
Remember back when everyone was on dialup and you could only stay connected if enough lines were free ? Thats when I got started.

Anyway, if you rang up one of my level 1s or me and was extremely rude (ie yelling and swearing about disconnections) over the phone Id quietly add you to my "shitlist". My shitlist was part of my home made auto disconnection script, it would always ensure your account was booted at the earliest possibility when the modem banks were full and if you were a real shit you went to the 2nd shit list in which Id trigger the cisco to randomly hang up your modem and log false line errors for your connection Tongue

I can just picture Josh doing a "pressed ham" on every bitchy customers invoice slip, be warned.
600  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitbet.us scammers ignore delivered BFL products on: May 06, 2013, 02:39:05 AM
Just gonna throw my two cents into the ring here:

I know a bet was submitted around that time that was rejected that didn't include the power requirement clause.  Now why would that bet be rejected?  Seems to me that it would be because our good friends at MPOE wanted to scam more people out of money...

Hello Josh, thank you for weighing in here.

So they rejected a bet where the power was specified as part of (or not part of) the performance in favour of a misleading bet that would potentially confuse users. Sounds like a scam to me.

Hate to say I told you so, but this type of resolution is exactly thing kind of thing I'd expect from MPEX heh.

Not surprising in the least, when arrogant racism is one of your core defining traits like MPEx then you cant expect many good (if any) personal traits.

bitbet.us should have followed betsofbitco.in's example and rulled the bet invalid.
Its my firm opinion if the result is open to interpretation then it should automatically be ruled a draw.
Site operators like MPEx should spend less time typing up their racist rants and more time ensuring the quality of their sites bets.

Please PM me with any further details, I shall also be monitoring this  thread periodically.
