581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risking 1% in Gambling on: December 15, 2023, 07:56:52 AM
1% is a good strategy although I don't use 1% but about 5% of my monthly income which is below $70k. Whatever amount of percentage a gambler chooses to make use of let it be that it's  a percentage he is comfortable losing because everyone can't gamble same way as your urge for gambling longer time might be higher than mine so my percentage may not fit into that of yours but the button line should be that you are in a comfortable position in losing it. Just as OP had said, when we use that which can afford to losing to gamble we feel  settled within and won't gbe battling with all the anxiety that do come with gambling risk.
I know that the percentage can be different for each gambler based on the urge they have or the risk appetite they carry, but I think 1% is still too low for anyone from any gambling category. Imagine someone is getting $1,000 as a monthly income, 1% of that would be $10 only, and I can't imagine how a person can spend only $10 for the whole month on their gambling activities if they are a regular gambler who gambles almost every single day or at least once in two days.

So, just like you, I believe one should use at least 5% of their income so that they can at least enjoy the experience. I know it can be different for people with addictions or those who wish to earn money from gambling, but those who gamble for fun can have more fun if they spend a bit more on it.
Without a doubt using only 1% of your income to gamble may seem to be an amount of money that is too limited for those that may enjoy gambling with some regularity, however when taking into account the money you have to spend to keep your current lifestyle, the money you have to save in order to invest in assets that could grow up in value and the money you need to save to have an emergency fund, it is not as if there is too much money left you can use to gamble anyway.
1% is already a huge amount for rich gamblers but I can't imagine the amount for the poor and average people. I have no objection to following such an idea but the problem is if it is easy to make it a habit especially if we are already heavy gamblers. We can set our limitations where we know it won't compromise our finances. Spending 1%, 5% or $1000 is our choice, we can still escape from addiction if can manage our gambling habits.
582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Type of gambling and Intelligence on: December 15, 2023, 07:29:49 AM
Does the type of game you play at a casino or sports you bet on show an individual's level of intelligence or how smart a person is?
Blackjack, Poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, sports betting, horse racing, betting on sociopolitical events, keno, etc.

I gamble and I choose to bet/play if I have knowledge of that particular game. Perhaps, it was our advantage over others and that will increase the chance of winning, aside from getting lucky. In fact, whatever you do whether it is gambling or not, never expect success if you don't have any idea of what you are doing. It is just like you going nowhere and you will never know what you gonna do next.

If you are gambling, should also spend time knowing about it. If you are in sports betting, be sure that you are also a fan of sports. The same thing applies to the other games.
583  Other / Off-topic / Re: Simple advice, don't get carried away by people success stories. on: December 15, 2023, 04:09:39 AM
It is simple, not all success stories are true, especially if that person is not known. Successful people don't show their stories unless someone gives them an interview and post publicly like on social media platform but some prefer to stay anonymous. While those people - like we say these influencers use their stories to gain attention, I don't think they deserve appreciation and trust.

Yes, we should be careful about who we trust and who we follow. In the world today, many stories can be faked and edited videos to show. Research is only the best thing to do, nothing else.
584  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you still use Banks ? on: December 14, 2023, 09:52:19 PM
I admit that I still use banks to save my money, and I still use fiat money to buy stuff since crypto is not yet accepted in our place.
Honestly, the use of cryptocurrency isn't fully accepted in our country which is us crypto holders to convert it into fiat and save it in the bank. For now, banks are the best option to keep my funds as I was afraid of keeping them online knowing that hackers have been aggressive at least having it kept in the banks gives me some confidence.
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 14, 2023, 01:19:06 PM
Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?

If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.

I've heard of people's shops, warehouses with goods worth millions of dollars completely burnt down and they thought that was the end. Some how, they started a fresh and they got back on their feet.

I don't know the circumstances surrounding the demise of the gambler, whether it was all he had that he used to gamble or it was a borrowed money, but no amount lost should warrant taking your own life. As long as there's life there's hope. He would have learnt his lessons and moved on.
We all do not have that kind of thinking, some easily get stressed and can't think of the right thing to do. And some will take their lives thinking that was a great solution to their problem. Indeed, it was just money and we can still get it but what if that is borrowed money and promise to repay it tomorrow? We can't really say that it was only because of gambling as it is possible that he used this to rid of his main problem yet the issues got worse and he even lost a lot of money. It was not worth taking and maybe if someone could advise him, he probably be saved.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: December 14, 2023, 11:35:50 AM
Just trying to get the communities opinion based on their experience about the topic.

Personally, a a bettor, I find it very stressful when watching the game you are betting especially if it will end up a losing bet.

If we have the same experience, how do you cope up with that problem, after all, gambling should be fun but why we have this kind of feeling that we feel disappointed when our bet loses?
Usually, I put my bet on my favorite team. I was disappointed not just because I lost my bet but also because my team had lost as well. That is a normal feeling for everyone because in our hearts we want our favorite team will win and together we win as well. But still, it was acceptable since this is gambling, someone will lose while someone will win. Sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we are not. Our winning assurance in gambling is unpredictable, nobody can say that we are lucky today that is why we just assume that every time we bet, we are lucky. And get mad when we lose...
587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking forward to invest on: December 13, 2023, 09:45:32 PM
I want to make an investment with just $50 as a beginner i don't know which coin am i to start with but i heard been hearing a lot of people both physically and on social networks saying incredible things about (BTC), that is the best. please i need your assistance ??
op First I'll tell you. If you believe social media ads and don't invest at their word, you can lose money. If you want to invest $50 in bitcoins I think it's a waste of your time. Because if you buy bitcoin for 50 dollars you won't make much profit. So if you want to buy Bitcoin first you must have a long term plan. If you only want to invest $50 then you will only learn and nothing else. So you need to increase your dollar amount.  And try to make long term plans for yourself. Patience is very important in recruiting. Investing in Bitcoin by patiently checking the market will surely make you successful.
I don't think it is a waste of time. Since OP is new in the crypto space, we couldn't suggest him invest in a huge amount of money and I believe that $50 is good enough for a newbie. Of course, we can't expect profit from it, just learning but after a try, he could decide if he spends more money or not. At least OP shows some investment desire in Bitcoin and at least he has an idea of what is all about. So in the case he succeeds in his first try, he can tell himself that I wants to continue and accumulate more.
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 13, 2023, 11:49:07 AM
Hey house someone need a few clips here, don't know if a post of this exact nature has been discussed though.

In a situation where the both spouse are gamblers. Husband gambles, wife gambles, how can both of them manage the situation in terms of finance and the family affairs especially when children are now involve so that the time both spends on gambling doesn't affect family moments and affairs in general.

Would it help if  one of the couple quit for the other and if that's the case who should quit for who.
In this case, it was good for the wife to stop gambling as it was not good to see especially if they had kids already at least one of the family would take responsibility for handling the kids. Time and family bonding are very important because if both are gambling, the impact on their relationship is not good. Even if the father/husband left gambling, he should still manage to spend less time gambling as this will help to have a strong bond and family communication which is very important.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 13, 2023, 11:02:54 AM

Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?

If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.
If we value our lives more than anything in this world, we can't think like that. Only a person who has a mental problem will have the courage to take their life.

Sadly, we just found out that gambling contributes to some mental health issues where some gamblers can't take depression and stress make their mind out of control. Perhaps, this is not the first time I have heard this news, it happens many times. That is why I just hope that all of us can control our emotions and practice being responsible gambler who knows what is good for us.
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum price before Christmas on: December 13, 2023, 08:42:53 AM
Hello,
If someone has made a loss in buying and selling Ethereum, what is your suggestion? Should he\she hold Ethereum?
Is it possible for the price to reach $2300 before Christmas?

Thanks.

Although, I am not a financial advisor, however I have been trading Ethereum for over six years, starting from its launch. During this period I have witnessed substantial and consistent growth, despite the fact that there were bearish trends when similar to Bitcoin its price was also dropped significantly. In the context of my experience, I would suggest you toconsider holding it for long term or at least wait for potential Christmas rally, which historically has yielded handsome profit for investors.
The price rally seems to be expected this Christmas season as Bitcoin does the uptrend motion, and ETH will also pump. For IMO, that was is too early to take advantage of the pump, if we don't need to use our money, it is better to continue holding until next year as we believe that more pumps are coming rather than decline. That is why I could say that holding ETH is not a regrettable decision but rather a wise choice.
The current price of ETH is already at $2,100 ++, and it was possible to reach $2,400.
591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be enough to buy 100 dollars worth of Bitcoin every month? on: December 12, 2023, 09:41:32 PM
I'm preparing for the college entrance exam to go to college, so I can't make money from working. I get about $100 of allowance from my father every month. I use all of them to buy bitcoin because I can use father's credit card for expenses such as food, clothes. I can buy Bitcoin on a satoshi basis every month, but when I see people buying Bitcoin basis on the internet, I feel like I'm too behind myself. Maybe they have a much higher income than me because they have a job. I think I can only invest $100 a month for the next year or two, would that be enough? I am worried about missing big bull market with halving and etf approval.
While I see it as a good amount to DCA monthly, but in your case I don't think you need to spend into bitcoin the whole of it knowing you are still preparing yourself to go into college which means saving would be the best option. You can invest later on even with a higher amount as long as you obtain already your stable job. That's from my personal view.

However, if you really insist with that amount, then that's still fine as long as you can afford it losing. Otherwise, you will be left with regrets wishing you hadn't  invest all the money as you might be needing them in your studies.
Investing is a good idea but putting all our money into it is not a wise decision either. Spending 50% seems to be ideal (just for me) and the other 50% is considered as savings. OP shouldn't have to sacrifice everything just to have this kind of investment, he should also think about other things that will need money as he can't just be fully reliant on his father. Another thing is that we should not hurry and think of missing the chance, it is a big mistake and this may lead to not getting into the plan and end up losing.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think about Solana tokens? Are they worth it? on: December 12, 2023, 01:14:51 PM
Every project developer does good marketing to get attention from the public just like Solana. Now the question if Solana is worth buying. Well, I would say that it was really hitting my preferences and criteria for choosing a project/coins and it is because I don't see any reliable use case of this project to help it stay long in the market. This project is just like thousands of coins out there that only rise when hype and manipulated price, not because of its increasing demand as people see its potential.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shorter the time you spend the better on: December 12, 2023, 12:42:15 PM
I'd rather choose to gamble 2-3 times a week rather than just spending 20 minutes gambling.
I'm not against spending less time gambling than the usual time we do but it doesn't mean we don't give time for us to enjoy gambling and just limit it to 20 minutes. There is nothing wrong with spending 1 hour or 2 hours gambling as long as we don't do it every day, I think it is much better.
If the reason for doing this is to avoid addiction and overspending, I believe the best thing to do is to stop gambling, not this way.
594  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: December 12, 2023, 11:36:42 AM
I have heard some guys saying they regret of joining gambling and they would not like those of their friends who are not playing gamble to involve themselves in gambling because according to them gambling is a cankerworm which eat wood gradually till the wood break and destroy the wood and that is how gambling does to the gamblers. And for me I can't say I regret of gambling because I only play game s which I interested in and not for income or profit but for fun. Though I use money to gamble and I don't regret for playing games because there are time they took my bad memories to new laughter and make me to forget the sorry of from home.
Regrets and blaming just happen for the gamblers who think that gambling makes them rich, those gamblers think that they always win. Regrets is just come from desperation and disappointment, many people do that every time they fail and mostly blame others for their losses. But for those who understand how gambling works and have only the intention to gamble for fun, we never hear such things but instead, they accept it. But sad to say that most gamblers thought that gambling was a way to have a better life not knowing how it would turn them into a nightmare. That is why instead of chasing winnings, we'd rather enjoy ourselves gambling.
595  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we see repeat of 2017 or new trend? on: December 11, 2023, 09:55:30 PM
That year was a big surprise to the people and the world, especially those who ignored crypto and thought that was a scam. That was the year that brought attention to the community making these rich people and businessmen talk about its brighter future. Even shitcoins had pump xxx times that every holder got money more than what they thought. But I'd never expect this thing to happen again aside from coins that have a use case. For now, the best and least secure investment is to buy old coins which we can expect to skyrocket once bull season comes.
596  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Staying away from scam. on: December 11, 2023, 12:02:43 PM
This time around scammers ain't smiling,  they will try all means to drain your hard time earnings because in this season they are alot of desperate people that  want to make it pretty fast with lesser effort. Because of that mind set they have at that moment.  they we then focus their skills in scamming other desperate and greedy people. There's reason they call them greedy   just imagine someone  came to meet you telling you about a way you can a large amount of money using a lesser amount in a short period of time. Without researching nor thinking you just dive in because you also want to earn large amounts of money with lesser effort, is better to manage the little you have than to lose it. If wasn't for greed and desperation you wouldn't have easily fall as victim.
And they will just fail if we have to think about their offer first. Most of the time we take action first before thinking until we find out that we already fall into a scam. Yes, scammer will find their way and by all means, they will get you no matter what. That is how aggressive they are and every mistake we commit a big chance for them to succeed. That is why we have to stay away and never listen to people who talk about investments that offer huge ROI because this is a clear scam trick. In fact, nobody will give you "profit" if you do nothing.
597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trend or long term projects? on: December 11, 2023, 11:35:26 AM
It's all about trend when trend end then no one want to buy these coins.
Hype projects like meme coins are examples. They were getting attention at first and people got crazy buying but after the hype, nobody is able to trade anymore --the project was abandoned.
Quote
What is your suggestions about profit from altcoins. Should we rely on only buying long term projects or we should invest according to trend despite of looking that trends coin will have no value in future?
Long-term investors don't look for the current price but they instead focus on seeing its potentiality that is we have FA as a useful tool to determine whether the project will grow in the future or not. As we can see, most investors prefer old coins because they believe that these projects are potentially for the long-term than these new projects.
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 10, 2023, 11:54:43 AM
I could say YES but not really it changed everything, and maybe when just in time I lost. Of course, it was a normal change for someone who gets broke, you feel sad, and raises your BP making your mode not good. But this is just in a short period of time that happened to me (and might be the same thing may happen to the others as well).

Upon gambling, I realized how important to control our emotions. And a reason why I still managed to keep my limits, having no regrets, and not chasing my losses.
599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can happen next time due to a lack of proper knowledge about Bitcoin? on: December 10, 2023, 05:47:39 AM
Some old people still prefer banking system even they have complete knowledge of cryptocurrency because they know that banking system is more trusted than cryptocurrency payment. If cryptocurrency get credit then there is a probability that the negative thoughts about its diminishing will reduces. There is no age for earning through cryptocurrency so people will move towards earning and will leave all other activities that make them able to live a better life like that of education, government job etc.
High trust remains in the banking system compared to crypto wallets where a lot of scams happen which creates fear and uncertainties. Even me, I prefer to safely keep my funds in the banks rather than in online wallets because anytime, we can be a target of these hackers and lose our money instantly without any hope that we can take it back. And much more if we don't have knowledge about Bitcoin, about crypto wallets. Knowledge is very important in the crypto space, we can't just set it aside and think that we can do right without this as we gain confidence if we really know about what we are doing.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do Owners of betting companies bet? on: December 10, 2023, 05:11:02 AM
I don't know for sure whether gambling owners do gambling too, but I'm sure they definitely do that too, it's impossible for you to set up a business that you don't know how to play. I still remember there was a film, which told the story of a skilled card player who founded a casino, he founded it because he saw the profits he could get, but every now and then he still gambled and his favorite game was poker, even if you weren't good at gambling, you would there are times when you want to gamble just to relieve fatigue and so on, gambling is an activity that many people cannot refuse, especially those who set up a gambling business.
I will agree with you on this point, that it is true that the owner of the gambling websites does not play that amount of gambling on his website, but they also primarily or occasionally for the user experience. Moreover, initially when a gambling website is launched, you have to gamble on your own website to see if all its systems are working properly. To be more detailed about this, many times the gambling website owner can't do it alone, so people hire people for website testing.
That is a great initiative of the owner just to be sure that everything went well. Not necessarily he will do it always as they could hire someone to perform daily checking of the site for possible bugs and errors. It was part of the operation and even the owner will play, it doesn't mean that for site checking, it can also be playing like a normal gambler does. In fact, the main role of the owner is to oversee the operation, and not the one who performs the task personally that is why there is a crew/staff hired designated for such a position and function based on their role.
