Just to inform everyone, the ACC Asia Cup Qualifier will be starting on 29th August. One team will qualify for the 2018 Asia Cup ODI tournament. The participants for the qualifier tournament are: Malaysia, Hong Kong, Nepal, Oman, Singapore, UAE.

The Asia Cup qualifiers will hold great importance for the countries playing, but I doubt if the larger cricketing world follows these matches. Of course, countries like Bangladesh and Afghanistan have come through these qualifiers and are now regulars at international fixtures. Do any of the book-keepers offer odds for these matches?

Undoubtedly, everyone knows the name of Nokia, and, with its words, quality and performance are brought into the minds of individuals. Nokia was one of the first mobile phone companies in the world. In 1998, Nokia was able to rely on the royal palace of the mobile phone companies, and the largest share of mobile phone sales. But with the advent of Apple's phones and Android phones, the share of Nokia has fallen sharply so that they were eventually bought by Microsoft in 2013.
In my opinion, Bitcoin has a way that Nokia. Bitcoin technology is old compared to other Altcoin. Bitcoin was the first, but perhaps not the best.

You can compare Bitcoin with Myspace. You can compare Bitcoin with Nokia. But the fact is that there are certain first mover advantages that Bitcoin has, that can never be wished away. By virtue of its high price and large user base, Bitcoin has the highest hashing power securing the network. That is something which you wont see with other altcoins.

I am pretty sure most of the whales were accumulating BTC for the last few months and even at todays high price they are probably still underwater.

Go to tradingview and look at the GBYTEBTC chart on Bittrex under the H1.

Look at all the huge buys walls that went on for hours and hours like on Aug 8th, July 24th, July 25th, etc.

This coin might be back to the $1000 USD range in the near future.

If that happens, a lot of us will be relieved. Byteball did increase by great leaps last year, even doubling to over $1000 in a single day. But the pessimism which captured all altcoins did not spare Byteball as well. As long as we are patient with our holdings, I think we can eventually realize value from Byteball.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: August 25, 2018, 08:37:42 PM
The same thing happens whenever a new area opens up: locomotives, incandescent light bulbs, radios, televisions, semiconductors.

What is somewhat different this time is that the barrier for entry was so low. Absolutely zero investment in capital equipment, meaning all you had to do was hang out your shingle (or announce an ICO) and SHAZAM! you're a player. And that's why this shakeout is more precipitous and deeper than other industries have experienced in the past.

But the consolidation mop up phase will most definitely follow.

True - the rise of players was sudden and parabolic. Most ICOs resulted in the market capitalization of coins becoming millions of dollars. This is something conventional companies could only dream off.
The correction and consolidation phase is long over due. Hopefully, people will think twice before rushing into ICOs now.

Now all eyes again would be set on 4th test match between India vs England as Eng currently leading the series by 2-1. If India can mange to draw or win the match they will still be in series else England will win this series and 5th match would not be much fun then .

The match between India and England will be keenly watched. England managed to win the first two matches, but India fought back in the third match. The series is closely fought and after a very long time. we have a 5 test match series between India and England.

A deserved resurrection: Welcome back to the top 100 @ coinmarket cap  Kiss

This is good news. Byteball deserves to be in the top 50, if not in the top 30. Most of the projects which raised money through ICOs last year and catapulted in the top 100 seem to be floundering now. It is only the gems which still have some value.
67  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investing on BITCOIN for 1 year... Will it good or bad? on: August 25, 2018, 06:59:23 PM
What will happen to this market within a year...? Investing on BTC was great on last few years. But if we invest on these days for a 1 year, will it gives a good profit or not?

It doesn't matter whether it is good or bad. The first question is whether you can afford to lose the money you have invested. Is $6,000 a bid deal for you? If it is, you might not have the stomach to live through the ups and downs. You might be tempted to cut your losses when your investment drops by 50%. You might not be able to hold for the long term.
68  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Looks Unlikely To Cross $10,000 Again This Year on: August 25, 2018, 06:28:16 PM
It seems to me that bitcoin will not be able to rise above$ 9,000 of this year. Too much FUD around.

$9000 by this year is certainly a possibility, with FUD or without FUD. There are still 3 months left and Bitcoin can easily gain 30% in one week, we've seen this many times before. What kind of FUD is out there right now? The only FUD I know of is the ETFs being rejected, but even then that really isn't "FUD". There have been many times where there was a lot of FUD surrounding BTC in the past, yet BTC doesn't care. If it is going to rise, trust me it will rise, FUD or no FUD, good news or no good news, BTC just does not care.

BTC is the digital honey badger.

Given Bitcoin's wild swings, $9000 is definitely a possibility, but it doesn't seem likely. The price definitely does not have any momentum and the optimism surrounding cryptocurrencies has waned. There are a lot of people who have invested during the bull run, who are sitting on losses. In a few months, they will lose patience and sell as well.

The SEC Admitted Being Too Hasty When Rejecting Bitcoin ETFs

As we reported not so long ago, the US Securities and Exchange Commission surprised everybody by taking the decision on Bitcoin ETF proposals earlier than planned. However, the companies that filed the proposals were not so happy, since they all received an indisputable “no” from the SEC.

It seemed like the topic could be closed for good, but there is now a new twist to the story. The Commission changed its mind. According to the American lawyer Hester Peirce, it sometimes happens that the regular staff of SEC take decisions, and the senior officers then find it necessary to review and even change them.

There is currently no information on when the abovementioned review will take place.

https://thecoinshark.net/the-sec-admitted-being-too-hasty-when-rejecting-bitcoin-etfs/

The SEC seemed to have pre-decided that they wouldn't approve any Bitcoin ETF and then they rejected individual applications. It would be better if they stated that it was a policy decision and then engaged with all stakeholders to find a way forward. The CTFC seems to have a very different view compared to the SEC.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook reverses ban on cryptocurrency ads on: August 23, 2018, 08:32:01 PM
This is an excellent news for all the cryptocurrency community. I don't know why they placed the ban in the first place. But i am glad they made the right decision in the end. Facebook needs to review their decisions more carefully next time, so nothing like this ever happens.

I think in the end commercial considerations have played a role. But I am surprised that the decision to reverse the ban has come when the price of cryptocurrencies is depressed. The ICO market is down right now and not many cryptocurrency companies will be advertising.
71  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-22] Apple Co-Founder: Crypto World “Like the Internet When it was Brand on: August 23, 2018, 08:02:02 PM
“Mathematics to me is like nature,” Woz continued in his admiration for Bitcoin. “It’s much better than human beings… I trust those things of nature more than what man makes up. Man makes up currencies, controls them, issues new US dollars every year; Bitcoin was immune to that.”

People who love mathematics are the ones who really recognize the elegance and potential of Bitcoin. Comparisons of the crypto world with the initial days of internet might sound a bit extreme, but if cryptos take off, they could become as ubiquitous and indispensable as the internet itself.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They want you to panic :-> on: August 20, 2018, 08:13:32 PM
This is very simple but why should i hold my coins, if the will go deeper and i can buy them back with much lower price? Market is going deeper day by day and the price today is higher that will be tomorrow. So we can increase the number of coins. It is not panic, it is trading strategy. But also i agree with you - this is just big manipulation.

The simple reason why you should hold your coins is that there is no certainty about the fact that markets will go lower. You might make some money, but there is also a chance that you will miss the next bull rally. If you are prepared to take that chance, go ahead and try to time the market.
73  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: August 20, 2018, 07:58:35 PM
India are in a very strong position to win this test match and it has been a team effort. Kohli got a century, but the openers ensured that the middle order had a good platform to launch from. Chasing such a huge target is daunting and I expect England to lose in a day.
74  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who will pull a Lingham this time? on: August 19, 2018, 08:54:23 PM
The number of people who invested substantial amounts of money when Bitcoin was trading at over $15,000 are substantial. And they tried to cost average their holdings when Bitcoin started trending down. And some of them have lost all appetite for cryptocurrencies now and are thinking of exiting at a loss.
It's impossible for people to know what dip to buy on the way down, especially if this is their first ever crypto bull run. For them a decrease of 20% is a fantastic entry point, but they have no idea that this market corrects with 75% on average.

It's even a tough call for the more experienced Bitcoiners. I have seen how mostly all of them were extremely hyped up and were really believing that $50,000 was the next stop while the price was still around the $17,000 mark.

Then their ultimate bottom on the way down was the psychological $10,000 mark, then $8000, then $7000 and then $6000. People can act tough all they want, but they were doing nothing but playing the guessing game.

True. For those who sold during the bull rally, the point of re-entry is the toughest decision to make. It is a tough call to take, especially given the wild volatility of Bitcoin.
Those who invested in altcoins have an even tougher job of deciding their re-entry points. Some altcoins are down more than 95% down from their peaks.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 19, 2018, 08:09:10 PM
Our main Bitcointalk thread now has more than 1,000 pages of posts!

Founder Tony made the first post on September 5, 2016. We've come a long way. Please continue to get involved and help out the Byteball project!

There have been more than a 1000 pages of posts on Byteball, but the price has moved in the opposite direction. I do believe we have bottomed out, but we need to do more for the price to recover. There has been a lot of development, but not enough marketing. The giveaways tend to depress the price, rather than proving a boost to marketing.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who controls the crypto market? on: August 19, 2018, 07:41:37 PM
From my own observation what controls the market most of the time is the market sentiments from news all over the world on business conditions. Mostly the government policies play a major roles in what sentiments the market react to. Once there is a negative news from any regulators the market will react negatively to before correction.

Market conditions will influence some people, but a lot of people just ignore the short-term fluctuations. They will continue to hold, irrespective of whether the governments of the world regulate Bitcoin or it continues like the Wild West. Sometimes, a big bang development like the approval / rejection of ETF could drive the market, but most times news is just ignored.
77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: August 19, 2018, 07:01:25 PM
India have bounced back in 3rd test match and in first innings England is trail by 182 runs and only 1 wicket is left. So if India play well in 2nd inning they have a good chance to make this match win and make the series to 2-1 which is a respite to them.

India is in full control of this match and still their is 3 days left if india play well and make lead above 500+ then winning chances will be more.

India has performed surprisingly well in this test match. Considering their heavy losses in the first 2 matches, it has been a remarkable turnaround. Although they lost 3 wickets in the morning pretty quickly, their bowlers performed well. England got out for 161, giving a good lead to India. Hardik Pandya was the star. India have batted well in the second innings too, reaching 124/2.
78  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-15] Is Bitcoin A “Cult”? A Former Paypal CEO Seems To Think So on: August 19, 2018, 09:20:18 AM
It makes sense for PayPal to be threatened by Bitcoin because it has the potential to kill their business, and when people are threatened they'll lash out.

PayPal pretty much started with the Bitcoin ideology of low regulated accounts, but it could be hammered into becoming an establishment player. Decentralisation takes away the power of the government to do that. I would take the cult status comment as a compliment.
79  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who will pull a Lingham this time? on: August 18, 2018, 09:22:32 PM
The main point here is: Some of these guys will look like clowns in the long term because someone always makes an overly pessimistic prediction, which costs money to people that follow said prediction. It doesn't matter if the price goes lower than it is now, someone will get it wrong by a long shot.

This is true, but the number of people who get it wrong in the other direction will be a lot more. The number of people who invested substantial amounts of money when Bitcoin was trading at over $15,000 are substantial. And they tried to cost average their holdings when Bitcoin started trending down. And some of them have lost all appetite for cryptocurrencies now and are thinking of exiting at a loss.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard disk capacity will become a bottleneck in the development of Bitcoin on: August 18, 2018, 09:08:01 PM
There are a lot of users who use the Bitcoin core wallet.

For a fully verified node, they face a huge problem, that is, more and more hard disk space. up to now(2018), more than 200G space is required. cpu and memory,it is continuous consumption and will recover after use, however, the hard disk space is a hard requirement and cannot be released after being occupied.

The beginning of Bitcoin, 2009--2012,the hard disk space less than 1G,
in 2015, 20G space is required for a full node.
now, more than 200G.
so, follow this, more and more nodes can only be simple payment verification nodes. Machines running full nodes are concentrated in the hands of large disk users, like a mining pool and ASIC, contrary to decentralization, will also become a security risk for Bitcoin.

Think about it - what was the size of your hard disk 10 years ago, when Bitcoin started and what is it now. Most people would have had 128GB or 256GB hard disks at that point, while now disk capacities are measured in TB. Technology is advancing quickly. Otherwise, people can prune the blockchain and continue using Bitcoin Core; else they can switch to light wallets.
