261  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-10] Mike Novogratz Launches Benchmark Index of 10 Cryptocurrencies on: May 10, 2018, 05:13:26 PM
An index is good for the crypto world, since it helps track the relative return of their investments. A couple of years ago, the crypto world was synonymous with Bitcoin. This is no longer the case, with Bitcoin’s dominance plummeting to less than 40%
262  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-09] $2.5 Billion Sent Out of Iran to Purchase Cryptocurrencies on: May 09, 2018, 04:41:14 AM
With Trump reimposing sanctions on Iran, the Central Bank will discover the virtues of it's citizens holding cryptocurrencies. These new sanctions show how fickle the international banking system can be. All it takes is one man changing his mind to create chaos. The advantages of cryptocurrencies have never been so apparent.
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 08, 2018, 10:02:48 PM
For those who aren't on slack and following the #tradetheodds channel or didn't catch it in the latest newsletter... there is an ongoing effort to create a P2P sports betting exchange website (using https://reactjs.org) with Byteball smart contracts and on chain oracles. Betting is with $GBYTE not a new/niche coin. The goal is to be live in time for FIFA. The homepage and dashboard preview are almost finalized.  This week we will announce the "coming soon and here's a preview" site. If you're willing to promote and retweet please follow https://twitter.com/Trade_The_Odds. Tony said he will retweet the announcement so once it's out you should see it from the Byteball twitter account as well.

This could provide a nice push to Byteball. With increasing real world applications, Byteball definitely has an edge over all those coins which have nothing but a whitepaper backing them. Yet we are not in the top 100 coins while the rest have fantastic valuations.
264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 08, 2018, 09:54:52 PM
Rajasthan Royals have managed to win their match against Kings XI Punjab in spite of scoring just 158. Rajasthan Royals spinners managed to restrict Punjab to 143. This is in spite of KL Rahul scoring an unbeaten 95. It isn't often that a batsman scores 90+ in a low scoring T20 match and yet his team loses.
265  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-08] Winklevoss twin challenges bitcoin hater Bill Gates on: May 08, 2018, 07:05:48 AM
I am not sure if Bill Gates was always anti - bitcoin. I remember that in the early days he had made statements in support of Bitcoin, although he did have reservations about its pseudonymous nature. If you are sure of its downfall (in terms of price) there always is the opportunity to short Bitcoin through Bitcoin futures.
266  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-07] Korea to Relax Cryptocurrency Curbs Under New FSS Chief on: May 07, 2018, 10:24:20 AM
This is more like a U turn where cryptocurrencies are concerned. Not only were ICOs banned, investing in cryptocurrencies were seen as a social evil. It was compared to gambling. A favourable stance by the regulators will definitely provide a boost to the price.
267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 06, 2018, 08:58:32 PM
Rajasthan Royals could only manage 152 in their match today. This was a below par score, especially in the IPL. Kings XI Punjab haven't performed wll in this IPL, but they completed this chase easily. KL Rahul scored more than half the runs required with an unbeaten 82 to take Punjab home.
268  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price manipulators? on: May 06, 2018, 11:24:41 AM
In my observation in bitcoin price !!
I think the WHALES are the manipulators of shifting price of bitcoin and alt coins
Why?
Because whales are buying huge amount of coin, in this case there will be a sharp rise in prices and also because of this demand will increase and many investors will be able to invest, so  the outcome is,WHALES had a large profit on their money or capital, i think this is why the alternative currency increases.
and after they buy it they will sell their coins that will cause a sudden fall in its price of alt coins.

This isn't something new. Whales always had the ability to move markets in the crypto world. This will change with increase in liquidity of the markets. Altcoins are less liquid than the Bitcoin market and will always be susceptible to pump and dump schemes.
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 06, 2018, 08:23:04 AM
Hello Tonych, is there any plans of rebranding byteball in the future? Seems like it would be good move.

Why would it be a good move? And more importantly is something like this even required? Just because it worked in the case of Rai Blocks and the price shot up, doesn't mean that it has to be repeated in the case of Byteball. Tony shot down changing the units from gb to b, but listing on more exchanges is something which nobody should have a problem with.
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we have a full-fledged crypto currency market? on: May 06, 2018, 08:08:02 AM
We all know that most coins and tokens have a price dependence on bitcoin. We have seen how the whole market fell after the December drop in the bitcoin rate, while the market almost froze for four months. I believe that so far we do not have a full-fledged crypto currency market. It will be only when the price growth or fall of each coin or token will be determined by the peculiarities of the development of the individual project of this crypto currency, and not by the state of bitcoin at the given time. Each coin or token must have its own pricing policy. Until this happens, we can assume that we do not have a full-fledged crypto-currency market. And how do you feel about this?

This is not a feature unique to the cryptocurrency market. Even in the stock market, individual stocks have dependence on the overall growth/fall of the overall market. The extent to which individual stocks are correlated to the overall market is called beta. There are very few stocks which are totally independent, with zero beta.
271  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Advice regarding refund from an Exchange(Bitlish)after a hacker got all my funds on: May 06, 2018, 07:49:33 AM

There is so much hustle going on about this exchange getting hacked and the funds getting lost . Similar thing happened in an Indian exchange too and the people who kept money in exchange lost it . This would obviously create a sense of panic . Giving your id might be their process as this is a local exchange , so i don't think there will be a problem about that . If you are not the only one who got losses then you might get a refund , otherwise forget about it and move on.

The exchange getting hacked in India is very different from this story. Here, a user's login credentials have been compromised. In the Indian case, the exchange was hacked and funds belonging to users were stolen. There the exchange was at fault and it is their duty to reimburse their customers.
272  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-06] Azerbaijan to Tax Crypto Incomes and Profits on: May 06, 2018, 07:15:31 AM
This isn't news, but common sense. Countries tax all kinds of income, whether cryptocurrency related or not. But this doesn't automatically mean regulation of cryptocurrencies. The two are quite different. A country can tax cryptocurrency gains or income, even if it is not regulated.
273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 05, 2018, 05:52:41 PM
Delhi Daredevils managed to score 163 runs, which is not a very high score in the IPL. Delhi also do not have the best bowling line up. Sunrisers Hyderabad look set to score these runs easily. Hales scored a quickfire 45 at the top of the innings and that is the job half done.
274  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Could be the Move You're Looking For on: May 05, 2018, 04:29:46 PM
For me it's more than "licking our wounds" it's a good chance to buy more because that price will be above the $ 10,000 barrier at least for the next few days.[in other words Bitcoin will not cause you to lose even if you buy at $ 17,000 the price will return to the upside when you are patient]

Now let's enjoy high prices and low fees

That is the most probable behavior of most Bitcoin believers here. $10,000 is a formidable resistance level, but it will eventually attain and cross the previous highs. The key point is patience and having the conviction to be firm in your beliefs.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paris street art work is asking for donations in bitcoin. on: May 05, 2018, 03:43:51 PM
Could be but it might of been put there by the artist but it does not scan because of the wall not being completely flat. Who knows.
But if someone does paint over it with theirs those funds will be traced and reported to the authorities.
We all know bitcoin transactions can be traced.
In a vain of life imitating art in a sign to the times.
The qr code can be seen on the artists website: https://www.pboy-art.com/biographie

I didn't get it from that reddit post but saw it on twitter and thought it was cool. Smiley

I doubt if anybody would report a scam of a few donations into a different Bitcoin addresses. Bitcoin transactions are not totally anonymous, but the record of authorities in catching cyber criminals is dismal. They definitely are not going to put a lot of effort into catching a petty scamster.
276  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-05] Indian Investors Flock to Trade Crypto Ahead of RBI Ban on: May 05, 2018, 03:27:55 PM
It will be interesting to see what happens after the three month period. China shut down it's exchanges, but people moved to peer to peer exchanges. Altcoin trading moved to exchanges abroad. I foresee things moving in a similar direction in India as well.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 04, 2018, 07:37:40 AM
At the moment, Byteball bot for Flight Delay Insurance is something like gambles between Byteball users, not between airplane companies and their customers.
It might be better if someday the Fligth Delay Insurance be impletemented officially between airplane companies and customers.

Insurance is always provided by third parties. Airline operators may provide compensation, but there is a conflict of interest there. Plus if the airline is going to go bust, who would you claim compensation from?
278  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-03] Goldman S. Will Trade Bitcoin, Bitcoin Futures Coming Within Weeks on: May 04, 2018, 07:30:46 AM
Goldman Sachs Will Trade Bitcoin, Bitcoin Futures Coming ‘Within Weeks’

Wall Street investment bank Goldman Sachs has appeared to confirm it will offer Bitcoin trading. Speaking to the New York Times May 2, Goldman executive Rana Yared said that after being “inundated” by client requests, the bank had decided that Bitcoin “is not a fraud.”

http://bitcoinist.com/goldman-sachs-trade-bitcoin-futures/

I doubt if something as big as this will be reported by crypto publications rather than the mainstream media. Big newspapers definitely have better access to these big companies. Plus Rana’s Comments hardly indicate that Goldman will take an active role in trading cryptos.
279  Economy / Speculation / Re: The whole TETHER thing still on the agenda for a BTC collapse on: May 01, 2018, 07:39:22 AM
People are not commenting anymore because there are strong indicators that support the thesis that they do, in fact, have reserves in fiat that would prove Tether. The problem is that there are also strong indications of money laundering. That is, the collapse may arise because of something similar to the confiscation of Bitcoin in the silkroad case.

https://blog.bitmex.com/tether-addendum-new-financial-data-released-from-puerto-rico/

As long as there is enough trust in Tether, it will hold its value. Even during the peak of its credibility crisis, tether managed to hold its value. Now there is some indication that the reserves might be valid. People will treat tether as if it is interchangeable with the US dollar.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 01, 2018, 07:31:00 AM
An appeal to byeball creators / tony : Why don't you urge cryptopia to get issues about bytebal alright? After all you have paid fine sum of money to get it listed, but listed for what?

So that they can hold up your hunders of dollars of Cryptos and manipulate the market?
Either they are incompetent or scammers, in either case they should be booted by the public

I think we should look beyond Cryptopia and Bitteex. Every effort should be made to list Byteball at exchanges like Binance. Having a fiat ramp is fine, but why should you ignore the most popular crypto exchanges. It might cost money, but that can come from the undistributed funds. It would be worth it.
no liquidity for selling undistributed funds. Selling coins for Binance would mean a dump to 0.005

There might be a dump, but that is always possible irrespective of what you do with the undistributed funds. There is no reason to believe that the signature campaign funds will be held for a little by time. Some of the participants don’t even have a byteball wallet. They have given a cryptopia deposit address.
