121  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trade war will benefit bitcoin. on: July 23, 2018, 12:08:39 PM
Trade war will put pressure on the Yuan and Chinese people will try to get their money outside their country. Due to capital controls they will resort to putting their money into crypto to move their wealth and preserve it from yuan devaluation.
Right now less than 1 Chinese out of 1000 have cryptos.. would they jump into it in masse, this could create an unprecedented demand for bitcoin.

This need not necessarily be a driver for Bitcoin’S price. If a full fledged trade war breaks out, the global economy will slow down. Risk aversion will set in and all assets will lose value, with the risky ones plunging. Cryptocurrencies will definitely crash as well.

In theory.

Looking at FACTS, bitcoin was below 6000 when I started this thread and is now at 7500.

Correlation does not imply causation. Plus we are at the very initial stages of a trade war. It is only the United States which is bent on picking a fight with multiple countries. If this escalates, we could see the WTO becoming irrelevant and trade grinding to a halt.

Sri Lanka have played very safe for the declaration. The target of 490 will prove too much for the South Africans. South Africa has already lost five wickets and they need 300 more runs to win. This is just the fourth day and Sri Lanka should win this easily.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian exchanges have announced that no crypto-fiat exchanges will be allowed . on: July 22, 2018, 05:08:59 AM
It is not correct statement.  Exchanges have not disallowed the transaction in crypto vs. fiat.  It is the Reserve Bank of India which instructed the Banks working in India ; to not to facilitate their customer pay for the purchase of crypto currency.  So now no customer of a bank is able to buy crypto currency by making payment for their account.

Yes Exchanges just freeze deposits and withdrawals and Supreme Court confirmed it will hear a petition against the ban on July 20, there is still little hope for the decision of the Supreme Court

Still no message has come from local trading sites like zebpay ,is there no decision from supreme Court side as the above mentioned dated has crossed, still all holding is freezed.

You have to be clear that it is only your fiat holdings which have been frozen. You may still deposit and withdraw cryptocurrencies from these exchanges. As far as fiat is concerned, they have no way to enable withdrawals because the exchanges have no banking links now. Your fiat money is not frozen in the technical sense.

I am a supporter of byteball platform. But I think the distribution of bytes through WCG can be improved as well as the distribution as whole though a sustainable way. Some people complain because it changes in a very short time without previus anouncement.

I had missed the fact that World Community Grid distributions had resumed. The money might not be much, but it will be of help as some people could sign up to WCG just to benefit from this. We need more such innovative ways of distribution, although nothing could beat the airdrops. Wink

South Africa seem to be heading for a big defeat against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is not a very strong team, but South Africa seems to be struggling against spin. The subcontinental teams seem to be again relying on spin to flummox their opponents. It seems to be a successful strategy so far.
127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Be patient or take a risk for money??? on: July 21, 2018, 10:44:35 AM
Hey guys, there is a time that it comes to my mind that what should i do, wait for a long time or we can say hold for now or take a risk and grab the opportunity to have a money in your hands???
What do you think guys??

Patience is a virtue, but deciding to sell depends on your long term strategy. There are quite a few people who regret selling when Bitcoin’s price doubled to cross $1000 in 2017. Then there are others who bought during the bull rally last year and are sitting on losses. They have no choice but to be patient.
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin requires approval from countries ? on: July 21, 2018, 08:20:27 AM
Germany recently approved bitcoin, why exactly is the approval required and what will happen after approval ?

It just provides legitimacy to Bitcoin and more people will feel comfortable investing in Bitcoin. A lot of people, apart from institutional investors, are concerned about the reputational risk associated with cryptocurrencies. With the government clarifying its stance, they may go ahead and invest.
129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to have bitcoin shortage? on: July 21, 2018, 07:37:57 AM
Oh no, the amount in the system is not enough to be used to run worldwide accepted digital currency. May be it may be supported with other currencies like the ethereum. we are always complaining that bitcoin should be accepted as the worlds digital currency, forgetting that the amount of circulating coins cant even supply the population of a single country.

Other cryptocurrencies are not altcoins. People should always look at the number of Satoshis there are, not the number of bitcoins there are. It is not for nothing that Bitcoin is divisible into hundred million Satoshis. There are enough Satoshis for everybody.

There is a Pakistan Zimbabwe ODI series going on as well. Pakistan came into this series without winning a single ODI in 2018, but are thrashing Zimbabwe as expected. They have won the fourth ODI after Fakhar scored 210. This is the first double century by a Pakistani in ODIs
131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: July 15, 2018, 08:17:55 PM
In today match Willy is really hero for England in last overs he completely change the tempo of game with 50 of just 30 runs and now English bowlers take very quick 3 wickets which bring now India under pressure but still is in as Kohli and Raina on and Dhoni and Pandya is waiting for batting its could be interesting end of this match
The English spinners bowled really well to restrict the Indian chase and without a doubt Willy changed the course of the match as he scored a quick fifty in the death overs, if not the total would have being much lower and India could have chased easily. With the performance of Dhoni yesterday, the fans turned against him which is unfortunate, he could not do anything with the tail end India had.

The series has become interesting with England winning the second ODI. Now the third ODI will determine who the winner is. India have won matches when one of their top 3 have scored big runs. England have showed that India's middle order is susceptible to pressure.
If India managed to with the third ODI they will be very confident going into the test matches.
132  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-12] Bitcoin Futures Volume Spike As Cboe Awaits ETF Decision on: July 15, 2018, 07:58:49 PM
Even if the SEC approves this ETF next month in the best case scenario, it won't be open for business until somewhere in Q1 of 2019. We'll either see another bull run take place directly, or the market will conservatively move up step by step and boom in 2019. Don't think institutions like to have expensive coins to declare when we shift from 2018 to 2019 and for that reason wouldn't really expect much this year. Statistically the switch from December to January has always been correlated with a steep decline in price, don't think it will be different this time.

I agree that the ETF will take time to come to the market, even if it gets approval now. But what the approval will do is result in a change in sentiment. And that definitely counts for something, especially in the crypto world. I definitely don't expect a big jump, but you never know what turns on the crypto market.

‘the graph is very complex now, which makes validation very slow, and it is still performed in sql. So large complex graph became possible after we allowed spending unconfirmed funds. Trying to do urgent performance improvements now’

Wasn't the scalability of DAG supposed to be much, much better than blockchain? I thought that was the selling point of Byteball and other cryptocurrencies based on DAG. But if validation becomes slower as the graph becomes more complex, then we really don't have a competitive advantage in using DAG,.
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple Founder Reminds the Impact of Bitcoin and other crypto. on: July 14, 2018, 07:22:48 PM
The parallels between the dotcom bubble and the ICO bubble are very strong. Both involved companies attempting to do something with a technology nobody had a clue what to do with. Then they proved it by collapsing. I don't know if the ICO thing is anywhere near properly dying, but it will.

I'll be amazed if more than 5% of anything ICO related ever delivers anything with an actual value or use. That may not stop them trading long after their death though. Ripple has managed to string out its promises for 15 years now.

I agree - the ICOs and altcoins in general have achieved insane violations. This in many ways resembles the tech bubble, where companies went to IPOs with nothing more than an idea. The problem I have is that people extend this comparison to Bitcoin as well, forgetting that Bitcoin is the first decentralized currency, with a vibrant community backing it.

What do you think after looking at the following chart?
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/byteball/
Is it stimulating your greedy instinct a bit?  Grin

of course, each investor has personal glance, and different decision, I have simply gave you a hint on Byteball price chart.

It does look like there is potential. But almost all altcoins are trading at levels way below their all time highs. A lot of people believe that Byteball has potential; it definitely has seen a lot of development, but for some reason the price just doesn't take off.
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: July 14, 2018, 04:15:59 PM
West Indies aren't doing too well in their second innings. They have been reduced to 64/5 and I don't see them getting a reasonable score. However, they have done enough to win the match, I think. Bangladesh are going to crash in the second innings, no matter how much West Indies score.
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Futures Bitcoin What Is The Use on: July 14, 2018, 03:31:29 PM
Speculation without having to actually buy and sell bitcoin.

It is not just speculation, without having to buy and sell bitcoins. Futures allow people to go naked short - benefit from falling bitcoin prices. This is something which you cannot do in the actual bitcoin market.
138  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [13-07-2018] Scammers to Leak Users Masturbation Vids Demands Bitcoin Ransom on: July 14, 2018, 03:12:12 PM
I think these videos will anyway end up on the internet, whether those who got hacked pay the ransom or not. I think the best strategy is to ignore the message and not pay up. If you have lover, tell him/her the details so that this doesn't derail your relationship if and when the videos get leaked.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is it the Future of Banking ? on: July 13, 2018, 06:28:50 PM
Bitcoins will not replace money in bank transactions. Banks around the world will create their own coin and will grow them. I think bitcoin will be the same with gold and dolar will be a major payment method worldwide or they can replace paypal or visa cards for online payments. Yes,,  i think it will replace visa, replace gold value,,

I don’t think banks will create their own cryptocurrencies. Banks are intricately linked to fiat, given their regulated nature. They may use Ripple or other cryptocurrencies at the Bank end to reduce costs, but won’t create their own cryptocurrencies. They risk angering regulators if they do so.
140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: July 13, 2018, 06:46:10 AM
Someone here following the current ongoing test match between West Indies and Bangladesh?

West Indies is currently looking pretty strong with 295 runs and the loss of just 4 wickets. They might be able to cross 400-450 if they continue to bat like this.

Bangladesh seems to be in trouble yet once again.

West Indies did struggle to play the Bangladesh spinners initially, but they have recovered well. The Bangladesh spinners managed to get the scoring rate down, but couldn’t take enough wickets. West Indies are placed well to make a big push forward.
