621  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Where can I buy 50 Bitcoins below market value? on: September 29, 2017, 05:54:55 PM
Thank you all for your answers. Very informative and highly appreciated. Everything you have said has been taken onboard. Thank you again.

There's an argument for saying that one would have to pay more (above market) for 50 BTC in one shot...  A sort-of relevant example is that HUGE gold buyers (say, 50 tonnes and up -- that's millions of dollars) reportedly have to pay a BIG premium for real-live physical gold.

How many have 50 BTC?  Not a whole hell of a lot of people.  And almost all of them are likely to HODL even longer, and make the really big gains...
622  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: September 29, 2017, 05:47:51 PM
...

In recent days I tried out ChipMixer.  Because it works differently than other mixers I have used is was slightly (slightly!) confusing to me as a first time user, but every thing went just fine.  I split my BTC into two chips, withdrew one fairly quickly, and took a voucher on the other one.

Later I went back and cashed in the voucher.  All OK.
623  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ★★★★ PrivCoin.io - First ever multi crypto mixer (Bitcoin Inc) ★★★★ on: September 29, 2017, 05:04:03 PM
...

Some may remember that I was in bitmixer.io's Signature Campaign for quite sometime.  I had used the actual service various times, liked it, and once when I had a problem they made me whole (when they could have just screwed me out of my BTC).  Their service (as well as the BTC earnings) are what led me to join their Campaign.

*   *   *

In recent days I used PrivCoin.io for a small transaction.  Everything went perfectly (pretty quick too).  I did not make it complicated as I wanted to see for myself how the service went using a small amount, and not sending to various other addresses nor using the time delays.  But, I would recommend that PrivCoin.io users do use those features once they are comfortable with their service.

I also tried out ChipMixer, (with a small amount too) that went perfectly well too.
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Good Reason to Own Some BTC on: September 29, 2017, 04:56:33 PM
...

Re above comments on various countries and situations involving liquidity, yes, of course some countries make it much harder for a traveler to use BTC.  But, in some countries BTC is rather liquid.  I did not mean that BTC solves all problems, but that if anyone travels extensively, it is yet another reason to have some handy.

It is easier in some other countries to BUY Bitcoin than even here in the USA.  Another factor worth thinking about.

I could actually see a scenario such as this happening, and it's nice because it doesn't even have to be online or on an exchange you could carry $500 or $1,000 on a Bitcoin paper wallet and you can have it encrypted and backed up as well.

Or even more...   Smiley

Never know what could come up (or what opportunities might present themselves).
625  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: September 29, 2017, 04:45:06 PM

I have no idea what's going to happen, but my "track record" in the past usually is good, not in the short-run but given time yes.

I continue to recommend to most people that they be balanced / diversified.  Obviously anyone with a lot of expertise can invest in a concentrated fashion, but I have NO real expertise in niches...  So, I look at niches (say, gold and Bitcoin), and if I like what I see after giving it some thought and research, I put some money to work.

Armstrong's "Slingshot" idea is interesting, I ought to go read up on it some more.  As we are in the middle of a move, I have not had as much time as before, and it will be three more months or so until I have time again.

*   *   *

I'll just mention that it looks like some "Alts" are getting more mainstream.  blockchain.info's wallets now support Ethereum (and allow trading BTC for Ether) for example, I have not tried that out yet.  I have seen some other Alts getting some traction as well among newer sites/services.
626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I buy bitcoin from blockchain where does it come from? on: September 27, 2017, 04:31:19 PM

Apparently blockchain.info will not sell Bitcoin to Americans.  Pity that.
627  Economy / Economics / Re: The Real Reason to Hold Gold And Bitcoin on: September 25, 2017, 05:28:26 PM
...

Today featured something interesting: the US$, gold and Bitcoin are all up.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it...

Au and BTC are both great holdings to balance out other financial assets.  They are relatively independent of each other in price movements.  What does that spell?

Diversification!
628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confidence Returning to Bitcoin? on: September 22, 2017, 04:48:22 PM
...

I had a chance to study a long-term Bitcoin price chart at blockchain.info.  I noted that there tend to be what look like exponential price moves up after lows (FUD-ly, etc.).  Sometimes these take two - three years, sometimes more quickly.  I have not seen a chart using and exponential Y-Axis though, bet that would be interesting...

This is just an observation on past price movements, buying and selling BTC ought to be based on more than just looking at past price movements.
629  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: September 22, 2017, 04:34:55 PM
Btw gold peaked at $1362 again as Armstrong predicted:

Why are you trying to rewrite history?  Armstrong did not predict jack shit because he said gold was going under $1000.

Subscribers have been told repeatedly over the past months that $1360s was the near-term peak and $1050 (or below) remains the downside target for the SLINGSHOT move coming.

Nothing has changed in his prediction over the past years.

You fool yourself because you’re not a subscriber and you cherry pick sentences out of blogs without incorporating his holistic stance.

PM me your email address and I will send you copies of his past subscriber reports to prove this.

I just traded in moar BTC for gold.

Previously, I was extremely close to having all of my (BTC paid for) gold all covered by BTC profits.  I will have to do the exact arithmetic for the IRS, but my buying yesterday means that this purchase (and any others in the future) are just "pure gravy", all profit.

It will take another week or so before I have all my calculations made, and I am still unclear as to what the regulations are for buying GOLD with BTC, how that is to be accounted for.  But, once I have the numbers I calculate, our tax gal can figure out how that fits in to IRS rules.  None of my BTC has ever been turned into cash (now have I sold any gold for cash).

I highly recommend that anyone who has non-trivial BTC gains prepare such information re taxes.  The IRS is using blockchain analytical tools by Chainalysis, they appear to be serious about capital gains (or whatever) when it comes to Bitcoin.

There is no way I will get rid of all my BTC, yet I may cash-in ("gold-in"?) a bit more ahead of November's possible New Fork.

These guys "running" BTC (developers and miners) need to grow the fuck up, else, Hell, I may be looking for a new crypto or something.
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Equifax and BTC, v 2 on: September 18, 2017, 07:28:00 PM
...

I started a thread on this topic earlier today, but it seems to have gotten lost (?), so I post it again looking for comments:

I don't have the information handy (links) to do a "Security Freeze" (lock your credit information from any Equifax, Experian and TransUnion customers checking your credit), but below I do provide mailing addresses (we started the process to freeze all three of our accounts Friday and Saturday).  Nor do I have their 800 numbers.  The companies are making it HARD to freeze your accounts...

I am interested in your comments on how the data breach will affect BTC prices (my guess is it will encourage more people to get into the Bitcoin Ecosystem).  What say you all?

*   *   *

Addresses by regular mail (all three companies would not allow me into their online ways to freeze, probably overloaded their computers):

Equifax Security Freeze
P. O. Box 105788
Atlanta, GA  30348

Experian Security Freeze
P. O. Box 9554
Allen, TX  75013

TransUnion LLC
P. O. Box 2000
Chester, PA  19016

All three have extensive documentation requirements and in most states they charge ($10 per freeze per company in my state, so that would be $60 to freeze them all for a married couple, highly recommended).

My bank recommended that anyone at "high risk" of Identity Theft freeze the accounts...

EDIT:

Anyone interested in joining a lawsuit I am exploring with a lawyer I know please PM me with any interest.  Note that I cannot guarantee that I can answer if overwhelmed....

Zero Hedge had an interesting article on how China's recent crackdown has NOT hurt BTC price, au contraire:

$4080 last I looked.

Japan and S Korea are becoming more important.

Hmm, I need to check to see if there is a thread on the EQUIFAX scandal and BTC...

Too bad I was unable to take advantage of BTC's price of briefly under $3000.

My guess is that BTC price could drop again, but the brave will "BTFD"!

Smart people diversify their investments.  Holding some gold and some Bitcoin is just prudent and smart.  Au and BTC completement each other: HODL both!
636  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Totalitarianism on: September 16, 2017, 02:56:47 AM
...Philosophy of morality (and just morality by yourself, or philosophy by yourself) are massive matters.  Re downloading music illegally, effectively, when I want to hear to songs, I possibly switch the radio on, put on a CD or go to Youtube.  I never download music, but that's just me.Would be listening to music on Youtube rely as immoral?  Not heading there.  Example: does unlawful downloading "combat the gentleman"?  Arguing philosophy is earlier mentioned my paygrade.  A deep, deep established of rabbit holes.  I have even bigger fish I am attempting to fry: protecting my worthwhile assets in the perilous moments to occur.

I started this thread with exactly the same thinking: protect my assets.  Not to steal music or other's intellectual property, etc.

I try to stay away from morality arguments, as I am quite imperfect.

@OROBTC, another very rarely strong hurricane (Irma) in Gulf of Mexico just after Harvey dumped a 1000 year rare amount of rain on Houston.

I did some research on the prior Maunder Minimum and apparently rainfall and storms became much more severe north of Venezuela. So expect storm season to become worse in the Carribbean, Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico.

In other places, drought worsened. Note how Puerto Rico has been experiencing drought in the winter and then praying for more rain in the summer.

Meanwhile according to MA, the real reason banks are too big to fail nor jail, is because they have to pay off the judges who then allow the banks to do what ever they want as long as the judges get paid.

Hey but getting raped by bankers is more pleasant than being the step-brother of Kim Jong-un.

We just fled to Orlando to avoid Irma, we *should be* OK.  I hope.

We will have to see if storms get worse.  It's been many years since a Cat 4 or 5 has hit Florida.  Andrew was the last one (1992).  FL has been lucky in recent years.

639  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin fans in Peru / Bitcoin aficionados en el Peru? on: August 24, 2017, 03:29:43 AM
Hello I'm from Venezuela, I would also like to know how common is Bitcoin in Peru, I have this country as a destination in the future  Cheesy

To my knowledge (limited!), Bitcoin is not popular in Peru.  In Peru you can use US$ in many places (big grocery stores, etc.), anywhere they have computer-based cashiers.

Peru has many Venezuelans who have immigrated there because of V's problems.  Peru is poor, always has been, but it is more free and the economy is now better than Venezuela's.

Just for everyone's info, Peru is without doubt one of the most interesting countries in the world to visit.  There are amazing natural wonders found there.

Any news of a new mixing service?
