1521  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: October 03, 2016, 05:47:23 PM
...

Armstrong is a font of things to think about...  Here are his thoughts re the Roman & Chinese Empires communicating & trading with each other long ago (including both having landed in the New World long ago):

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/history/ancient-economies/romans-landed-in-america-and-sent-ambassadors-to-china/

*   *   *

He is quite interested in our upcoming election, and he does not like Hillary and the D-Team much:

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/international-news/north_america/2016-u-s-presidential-election/worker-discovers-warehouse-in-ohio-loaded-with-ballots-for-hillary-already-filled-out/

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/international-news/north_america/2016-u-s-presidential-election/are-they-planning-to-deny-the-election-if-trump-wins/

I wonder: would they dare deny the election to The Donald even if he wins?  The corruption runs very deep this time around.
1522  Economy / Economics / Re: Dissecting the Parasitocracy on: October 03, 2016, 05:33:37 PM
...

The Parasitocracy also includes (IMO) a large class of liars and grifters.  TPTB now claim to be "looking out for us" when, of course, they are merely looking after themselves.  This has been going on a long time here in the USA, a convenient starting point for this line of thought would be President Andrew Jackson.  Jackson claimed to be a friend of the Native Americans, that he was looking after them like a father, when he was stealing their lands for the benefit of himself and his land-speculating cronies...

Jackson was the real founder of the Democrat Party.  The D-Team claims to speak for the poor, especially African-Americans, while their plight has never improved.  Not even after 7+ years of our first African-American president, and Obama had complete control of Congress for a few years.

Reference (and highly recommended): Hillary's America (Dinesh D'Souza)

Armstrong has two notes of interest today...:

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/international-news/rule-of-law/saudia-arabia-to-sell-all-us-assets-as-congress-overrides-obama-veto/

In which he writes that Saudi Arabia will sell its assets in the USA.  To keep said assets away from teh lawyers when the 9-11 lawsuits start...  Ahh, I doubt it.  What is the alternative for their money?

And he takes a look at the scary Deutsche Bank scenario and related:

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/international-news/europes-current-economy/deutsche-bank-the-meltdown-crisis/

Which could potentially be very scary...  Nice graphic there showing DB links to other big banks.  All dominos...

1524  Economy / Economics / Re: global economy collapsing this fall on: September 27, 2016, 10:02:58 PM
...

I have been a growling BEAR since Jimmy Carter (late 1970s for you young 'uns).  I even had a 90-acre plot of land in case the SHTF for a few years.

I think it is always best to be prepared, giving some thought & taking action re BAD SCENARIOS.  Buying gold, etc.  And so that makes me more bearish than "average".

Yes, Deutsche Bank may be the domino that knocks all the others down, with perhaps terrible results.  But, this 60-year old bearing & gold guy has been looking at this stuff for a LONG time.  And it doesn't seem like it is ready to collapse yet.*

* Given that, maybe I have a "Normalcy Bias" that prevents me from seeing...  But NO ONE can reliably predict the future.  Best be flexible and ready for almost anything.
1525  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which bitcoin mixer is your favorite? on: September 27, 2016, 09:54:02 PM
I am pleased to see both [banned mixer] and bitmixer.io having good reputations here.
Thanks for kind words about the reputation of [banned mixer] regardless of its age. (It is a compulsory mention here as you are a genius with your taint analysis and researches. Link1 and link2 )

Considering against giant bitmixer, Cryptomixer is too young but not in mixing algorithm and not in customer support.

Competition is a good thing.  Cryptomixer will help keep bitmixer offering good service at a good price.
YES! Business competition is always good for customers to enjoy quality services at comparatively cheaper prices.

Thank you for the kind words, but...  Genius no way.  (If you only knew...)  I'm just another wanker who is curious about BTC and trying to learn my way around the topics that interest me.

Taint Analysis is an interesting subject that I have not been able to find out much about.  Pity that apparently blockchain.info no longer offers its SharedCoin (mixing) service (I read somewhere that it was not as secure as thought).

I am pleased to see both [banned mixer] and bitmixer.io having good reputations here.  I personally have had excellent experiences with bitmixer.  That is why I went with bitmixer when joining a Signature Campaign.

Competition is a good thing.  Cryptomixer will help keep bitmixer offering good service at a good price.
1527  Economy / Economics / Re: Fed Does Nothing: Gold and Bitcoin to Benefit? on: September 27, 2016, 04:29:10 PM
...

So far, with almost one week on (and one debate done), neither gold nor BTC have moved much at all.  Indeed, this will all take time to see how prices of these two assets shake-out.

The Fed will for sure influence gold and BTC.  How much is difficult for me to say, that is why I asked for your opinions.

And who becomes our next president as well.
1528  Economy / Digital goods / Re: How Much an Hero Member account worth with bitmixer campaign? on: September 21, 2016, 08:54:06 PM
Will the campaign manager allow to the new account owner to keep participating in the campaign if he finds out the account has been sold? This is not very likely and the buyer takes a risk. Unless he's not interested to continue the campaign. But otherwise you could easily get 0.5 BTC for your account.

.
^^^  Yeah, this.  I priced my account over at that thread and got an approx. price of BTC0.37.

Since bitmixer.io has been here a long time, with an excellent reputation, a Hero account would be worth some BTC0.5, IMO.

However, the Campaign Manager would possibly not be in favor of the account holder selling to an unknown new owner.

My 2 cents...
1529  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which bitcoin mixer is your favorite? on: September 21, 2016, 08:46:16 PM

Bitmixer.io has a long history here at the forum.  I have used them many times with great success.  And there are very few valid complaints (see the thread).

I went ahead and joined their Campaign because of my good experiences with them.

I too have read that [banned mixer] is good as well, but have not tried them.
1530  Economy / Economics / Fed Does Nothing: Gold and Bitcoin to Benefit? on: September 21, 2016, 08:33:25 PM
...

Our pals at the Federal Reserve did nothing (ie, did not raise interest rates from the close to zero where we are now).  Their infamous "dot plots" (member predictions of rates for the next couple of years) show their expectations of rates for a long time.  Low!

One would think this will benefit gold (approx. $1335 now) and Bitcoin ($600).

Any guesses?
1531  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoin as mixer? on: September 15, 2016, 11:10:02 PM
...

localbitcoins would likely be a good option if you met your counterparty and paid in CA$H.  Presumably most people into BTC would likely be similar to most of us: wanting privacy.

Too bad localbitcoins does not work very well in my city -- although I have used it.
1532  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you use multiple Bitcoin Wallets to store your Bitcoins? on: September 14, 2016, 05:03:38 PM
...

It's just smart to have your BTC spread around some...  Especially if you use online wallets.  I just keep pretty small amounts in my online wallets, and put larger amounts in hardware wallets Trezor or Ledger.

Another advantage to using different wallets is that you eventually find one that you prefer over the others.
1533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Making Bitcoin Fully anonymous ? on: September 14, 2016, 05:00:37 PM
...

Most people using BTC are not using it for anything illegal.  And most people using it are small users.

Therefore, mixing Bitcoin and staying away from breaking the law should be enough on its own for "pretty good privacy".

If/when Mycellium starts automatic mixing with their rumored new wallet will make that easier.  The more people mixing, the harder it becomes for our privacy to be cracked.
1534  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Totalitarianism on: September 14, 2016, 04:54:57 PM

Well, I agree.  Barring a major disruption or event ("Trump consorts with the Mafia!!", etc.), yes, the election is likely over.

The sheer desperation of the Democrats and their MSM sycophants shows they are extremely worried.  Likely they will not capture the Senate either.  Hillary poisoned by Trump & Putin..., please.
1535  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Which online wallet do you use? on: September 09, 2016, 04:52:50 PM
what offline wallet are you using? is it safe to store large amount there?

technically you can install all the desktop wallets on an offline computer to generate a bitcoin address/private key and send your bitcoins to that bitcoin address. and as long as you 1) downloaded the correct program and not a malicious one and 2) keep that computer offline and free of any malicious programs your coins are safe.

trezor that was suggested to you is good only if you have a lot of bitcoin and if you are willing to spend $100 for a bitcoin wallet.

Nice information re desktop wallets.

I have a Trezor and like it a lot.  I agree that for any larger amounts of BTC, a proven hardware solution is best.

I use blockchain.info's wallet for convenience, but store the larger balance in a Trezor, Ledge Nano and Opendime.
1536  Economy / Economics / Re: Is silver a good store of value? on: September 09, 2016, 04:47:09 PM
Silver, gold, platinum, palladium, all of them are fairly good stores of value. It all depends on how long you intend to keep it and how well you can store it, though, but precious metals are a good investment 99% of the time. You can go and look at the charts for all of the metals and determine which one is best for you.

And to expand just a bit, I would consider owning some of more than one PM.

I would start with gold, mankind's most long-lived Store of Value.  Silver would perhaps be the best in a SHTF, in that it is widely recognized and useful for retail purchases / barter.

Platinum and palladium are more speculative, but have their place in a diversified PM portfolio.

The "fundamentals" (uses, supply, demand) are different for each metal.

1537  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Payshield mixing service anyone ? on: September 09, 2016, 04:39:01 PM
...

I hope that someone will post a review of Payshield's service (or any other mixer on TOR).

But at this point with my very limited knowledge (I don't use TOR), I would suggest using bitmixer.io as they have been around for years and have a great service.

[banned mixer] seems to have good reviews as well.

All reviews of BTC mixers are welcome!

Danny H does raise some good issues re mixers though...
1538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Financial education and Bitcoin. on: September 09, 2016, 04:29:09 PM
To be able to teach the younger age of financial education is really great. I beleive that teaching them early about this give them better opportunity when  they are old. Even if you teach your children how to save money is very helpful.

Yes, that would be my take.  To expand my views a bit, I would encourage some small financial education even to young children (especially saving).  But, I would certainly include more financial education (and encouragement to learn more on one's own) as adults.

Imagine the type of society we might have were people more financially literate (less debt, more BTC, a clearer knowledge of the banking system, etc.).

Were $50,000 to drop into my lap I would buy a 1 kilo gold bar (for some $44,000):

https://www.providentmetals.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=1+kilo+gold+bar%2C+elemetal

or perhaps the Republic Metals 1 kg bar (comes with a cool-looking plastic card "linked" to the bar).  Take a look:

http://www.republicmetalscorp.com/rmc-1kg-au-bar/

That would leave $6000 or so for Bitcoin.

A great article (split into four parts because it is LONG) about the war on cash:

https://www.theautomaticearth.com/2016/09/negative-interest-rates-and-the-war-on-cash-1/

Nicole Foss covers just about all the bases in this one.  There are ways to escape, at least in part, but you have to think and and work at it.

Negative rates (NIRP) has lots and lots of unforeseen side-effects...
