621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting? on: November 29, 2023, 08:20:29 AM
~

So what do you think we will do here? I mean, we have this gambling discussion section to talk about gambling, why not talk about success sometimes rather than talking about how to prevent losses and how to avoid being addicted in gambling?

This gambling section is here to encourage people from gambling, not to discourage them... and the fact that you are wearing a signature for a gambling site, that alone is already a way showing people your support on the gambling site you are working with.
I did not say that we should not talk about this topic, I just said that it is not a good idea to talk about it in a way that it encourages others to pursue gambling in the hopes that they might be able to make some money or get lucky. I do not necessarily agree with you about the encouraging part on why this discussion exist since I believe this discussion exists as a means to share information and such, encouraging means that you are promoting gambling and the forum clearly says that they do not endorse any kind of businesses here but to each of their own, if you think that this discussion exist to encourage gamblers then that is on you.
622  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting? on: November 29, 2023, 07:45:05 AM
I do not know about that, it is not really a good thing to talk about because this kind of headline is just going to encourage people to gamble more because they believe that they can do what that person do when it is clearly not how they made that money in sportsbetting, they are probably if not most likely a rich person that can afford to lose a lot of money and shrug it off so they spend it on betting, sure there are ways that you can maximize your wins and can make you a millionaire through parlay but that is an unlikely thing to happen and to win a million in parlay, you probably need to put in a considerable amount of money. It is not worth risking your money to betting because there is person that was able to make a lot of money in betting, you are not those people so if you think that you can do it then you are in dire need of a reality check.
623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the rich win gambling more than the poor. on: November 28, 2023, 04:45:52 PM
I don't think it depends whether or not, you are rich or poor. Gambling is a game of luck. How can a rich man win more but the poor man win less? Does that makes any sense to you.

The only logical explanation could be that the rich have higher bankroll. They can bet more and more, multiple time to test out their luck. Even if he looses 100 bets, one single win can be enough for him to make up the looses. So in of the day his winnings are more.

But if you look at the poor, their gambling activity are limited due to shortage of money. So they aren't able to bet as much as they want. In the end they have loses more than winnings.

That's the only explanation I can come out with.
That bankroll logic is not foolproof though, say it is 100k bet for a rich man and he's got a 1m bankroll which and the highest win that he can get is 2x only meaning that he can only get 200k at best when he wins which means that one win is not enough to recoup the losses if we are basing on how much they are betting. Even if we magnify the bankroll, it is going to be the same thing although in terms of duration of playing, the rich man's bankroll is going to be an advantage.
624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: November 28, 2023, 03:40:35 PM
I have always advised people not to take gambling seriously but I myself became heavily addicted to live blackjack from stake.com and kept winning and losing.
That is why you should always practice what you preach just because you have said something does not mean that you are immune to all that stuff that you are against and so you end up being complacent about this kind of things and you forgot what you are telling others to do. It is a good thing that your loan did not involved illegal entities like gangs or loansharks because if that was the case, you are definitely in a bigger trouble than what you are experiencing right now with the bank, the banks can never cripple you if you do not pay their loans so you are still relativity safe and hopefully you will be able to recover from this, no one deserves to stay in this trap because they are a gambler.
625  Economy / Gambling / Re: Guide for newcomers Start a fun and profitable gambling entertainment journey o on: November 28, 2023, 02:55:00 PM
~

Yeah! It's kinda ironic that people need a guide on how to gamble and have fun.  It's like, isn't that the whole point? Like you shouldn't have to think too hard about it.  It reminds me of someone trying to explain how to properly eat a slice of pizza or something.   Wink

Common sense should indeed be the guide here.

My guess is that we are running out of fresh topics to talk about that is connected to gambling and so we try and be creative and even get dumber so we can squeeze out more potential topics to talk about kind of like smashing the rock to find a drop of water. I guess when you are trying to be something here in the forum, you take your chances and do what you must do.
626  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: November 28, 2023, 01:06:49 PM
~

Yes, looking at at things from an ethical perspective, you are exactly right.

All the casinos who enforce KYC need to do is add a popup after registration, reminding them of the important rules that might get their accoubt/balance locked, for example, using a VPN, not completing KYC, etc.

Though it is not legally required to do so, so they won't. Instead, they'll allow people to register, deposit, play, and then lock the account/balance for kyc if they didn't lose before that (which is why they let them play).

...and people say the casino industry is ethical Roll Eyes
I am not a lawyer but I too can understand that if that's what they are doing then if there ever was a case that the people that got their accounts locked out would try and file a lawsuit and they didn't do the pop up or reminder about the KYC then the plaintiff would be able to argue that their clients did not know that it is a mandatory thing and that they could also argue that the casino could have done their due diligence of doing a reminder, people on the Internet are forgetting the most basic about selling a product or services, that they should always assume that their customers are stupid and that they should be able to tell them how their product and service work in the simplest of terms you know 'Keep it simple stupid'.
627  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Report scam (free of charge) and support investigations on: November 28, 2023, 12:04:01 PM
You can be of big help posting also in the Scam Accusations board of the forum, and it is going to be a big help too that you will list the names of the fraud that you are investigating if you are allowed to share, helps you in attracting potential complainants since they might see specific fraud investigations and they might see the ones that have wronged them. What do you exactly do anyway? I feel that you are a bit too vague about what you do, I am a bit slow on the understanding of stuff so explain it like I am still in highschool.
628  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How do I create and design simple website? on: November 28, 2023, 11:05:09 AM
OP, if you are not interested to learn website design I think it's much better to hire someone for this job. You as now there will probably spend more money on tools (ok we will not count your time) than how much you need to pay someone to create a website for you.
If you want something basic, WordPress is an OK solution for easy automated website. Also, if you understand HTML and CSS, maybe you can read something about Bootstrap, but you will still need some other tool of you want to have a little more advanced design.
Probably the best thing to do for OP, I have done some of those Wix and Squarespace before and you need to have some sort of coding knowledge at the least to make it work or understanding how to design a website because, the drag and drop function of these website design platform is not totally true. WordPress definitely is a good one but OP needs to learn basic HTML5 and CSS to do some decent simple website on that if I recall correctly. And also OP, if you plan to design just a simple website then you are going to be fine with hiring someone because it is not a complicated ask for the web developer you might hire.
629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helping family businesses and fulfilling dreams with Bitcoin. on: November 26, 2023, 09:25:47 AM
[I lost all the bitcoins I had invested, it's sad. But I am very happy and glad to be able to fulfill my father's business and my own dreams]
I think that you are focusing too much on the negative things here, you have achieved what a lot of us are aspiring to do with our bitcoins and I think that the result of your hodling bitcoins should be your focus, you can still get back in bitcoin anyways and that family business that you have helped improve if not upgrade is a good way for you to get a return in investments, maybe you can ask for some of the profits in that business to be invested in bitcoin again, I am sure that your father will not mind giving you some. @bayu7adi is right, you did not do bad the positive impact outweighs the sadness that you are feeling about losing your bitcoin to use for the stuff that you have mentioned, cheer up and remember that you will still be able to get back to bitcoin.
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Closing Central Bank is Non-negotiable says pro-bitcoin Argentina Pres Milei on: November 26, 2023, 07:56:34 AM
Well what is the point of the central bank now that their currency is useless. You keep the central bank and they issue new notes, most likely the same inflation problem will happen.

They are better off just using the US dollar or the Euro, and stay out of their own currencies. Many of their citizens stopped using their currency long ago as it was way too unstable.
A bit off the mark, the inflation will not stay the same, it is going to get worse because that is how an uncontrolled inflation operates, the more your banks print paper money, the more you are going to devalue your currency. Definitely better off using USD or Euro but these solutions are temporary because they are not a US territory and they are not a part of the European Union so it is not the best fix. I do not know much about Milei but there is going to be a lot of things that he has to change and those change are going to be met with some resistance from those that have benefited from the old system. I hope that his friendly terms with bitcoin is accompanied by actions because if a lot of people thinks that bitcoin might be able to help Argentinians to combat the inflation, I guess that Milei using his position to create laws or policies that are bitcoin friendly is a must watch thing right now.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Often Do You Check Your Seed Phrase. on: November 25, 2023, 09:45:43 AM
It is the same for me, I don't check it often, I can not even remember the last time that I have checked my seed phrase, it is safely stored already in a piece of paper on my favorite book and I have all the necessary information written on it so I know the purpose of that piece of paper in case I forgot what those series of words are about. I do not really understand the reason for constant checking of the seed phrase, will it suddenly change the next time because I did not check on it regularly? Of course it will not happen so there is no point as to why I should do that.
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Holders Hesitant to Sell Despite Price Surge on: November 25, 2023, 08:50:09 AM
Maybe because this price surge is just half of the last ATH so they really can not care enough to sell right now when they know that there is a possibility that they can profit more if they just wait just a little bit more then they will get more profit and combining that with the halving that is coming next year, I am sure that those factors are what is making people continue holding on to their bitcoins, it is more likely that people are buying more right now to increase the amount they are currently hoarding. I would not say that these people that you are talking about are hesitant to sell, maybe they just have a target price or that they do not like this price to sell because of the possibility that it will go up even more before going down.
633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I go with Bitcoin or Altcoins for the upcoming bull run cycle? on: November 25, 2023, 07:07:54 AM
~
Indeed it is scary if you are investing in new projects but if you are investing in ETH, you are going to have peace of mind. But yes, $30k is quite huge enough to put into a risky investment even though we know that ETH can be trusted or ideal for long-term investment. If ever I have that amount in hand, I will put some amount to other form in investment or start a business as in the case that we lose in crypto, we still have other way to recover those losses from other investment and income resources.
Even with ETH, I am not that convinced that it will make me not regret investing, bitcoin has not failed me so far so I will just put all my money on it no matter what because I am better off profiting in bitcoin as much as possible than splitting my investments in different altcoins that are full of uncertainties. Maybe other users have the heart to be able to do that but not me, the lesson learned is just too expensive for me. If I had that amount, I would probably just allocate 1k USD in ETH only and then try to wait for bitcoin to go down again so I can get a good value out of the 29k that is left or what is going to be left when I spend some money for the stuff that I want to buy for a long time now.

30k is a scary amount to invest in altcoins even if you know that an altcoin boom is coming in the horizon, I've learned my lesson about altcoins last season so I don't want to repeat the same mistakes, I'm better off just waiting for my bitcoin to grow and hopefully sell it at a favorable price and then hopefully get in quickly to it. OP's plan is feasible and attractive to follow but that will be the possible scenario if all the stuff that OP mentioned exactly happened and we know that the cryptocurrency market is a volatile market and you will never know what's going to happen even if you are good at market analysis.
Investing in altcoins shouldn't be done with much money but only the amount that you can afford to loss. Altcoins can be hype by the dev and the price will pump 100X and before you know it,you that invested at that time becomes the loser because in no time,it will turn to zero, leaving you frustrated.
This I can agree and not just with altcoins, everyone is encouraged to do the same with bitcoin, just invest what you can afford to lose. This advice is a timeless one because it is the truth and it is making sure that you are not going to go overboard with your investing journey and at the same time makes you balance your needs for investing to save for the future and having some money to spend for the present. That is why I do not go for altcoins now, the potential of it being a rugpull is just too much and it sucks that you are going to be the one that will be gullible to give them your money.
634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest crypto exchange CEO arrested! Anyone getting deja vu? on: November 25, 2023, 03:42:16 AM
Damn, I just read the news. How often would a CEO confess to some crime they commit? Money laundering isn't that big of a crime, but if you do it with billions, you are in for a treat. I wonder how the crypto world is feeling about this right now, because I am honestly in shock that he admits to it. I know that they are doing these things and then some, and are expert in playing it safe. But to be accepting the charges? That's something.

Hopefully it brings in good numbers for bitcoin, but I doubt it. It may even cause ripples of uncertainties in the crypto space, but only time will tell.
Dude, you do not want the rich people getting away with all the profits, it is not a big deal to you because the government is not getting a lot of taxes from you but when it comes to businesses and rich people, taxes are in millions or in billions so it is a big deal if you are in the government, not to mention that criminals can get away with all the money that they have taken when they launder their money to make it look legitimate, instead of a total asset seizure, they will only pay taxes. Regards to how the crypto space is taking it, it seems to be nothing to them because if you look at the price of bitcoin right now, it is not going down that low and even if it goes down, it eventually recovers the next day. What I am worried is how the Binance will move with the new CEO Richard Teng.
635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something you don't have to forget on: November 25, 2023, 02:49:59 AM
The security of most wallets are the greatest bane as it is the greatest boon for many people, with the security they applied, you are secured that no one is going to be able to brute force your wallet and that your bitcoin is safe stewing away in the wallet but the problem is that as years go by of hodling, you as a human being are going to be experiencing a lot of different and new things and those experiences will be memories and with those getting in your head some of these people eventually need space for those new memories although it is not really removed entirely, it is muddled with your other memories and we know that when we use passwords that frequently, we will not have a problem remembering but in the case of bitcoin wallets that you do not usually use to log daily, you eventually forget the password unless you have been using the same password for all your accounts then you do not have a problem. A piece of paper can help you remember but at that time when bitcoin was still not worth a lot, people did not really mind taking notes of their passwords.
636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They accumulate bitcoin but how about you? on: November 23, 2023, 10:07:16 AM
Do not compare yourself to exchanges and financial institutions because they have a lot of money and investors. Accumulate what you can and never lose track of your goal and how you do your thing because if you compare yourself to a tiger and you are just a mouse, it will only make you look stupid and at the same time it might cost you something dearly so always know that you have a limit and that each has a place in the market, the only difference with us and these exchanges is that they are a group of people except Satoshi but that can be debatable.
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Logo .... a hologram made with Blender on: November 23, 2023, 09:48:44 AM
I have tried Blender and I am telling you that you that it is already one hell of a project there, I have used it and I do not have the patience to do the sculpting and shaping of the 3D models and at that time I do not have a really good computer so that added to my frustration since Blender needs a lot of computer space to be able to run smoothly. It is difficult to believe that you are a beginner to Blender so if you really are a beginner, I hope you take that as a compliment.

640  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Recruiting CTO/Co-Founder for Bitcoin sidechain project using Elements on: November 22, 2023, 01:34:58 PM
Let me just tell you that forums are one of the worst places (after most social media sites) to look for candidates to fill high-profile executive positions, because almost nobody reading this is qualified for one.

You want to place this job position on a website, and ideally you should go to a meet-up of a Bitcoin conference and make your pitch there.
Definitely the worst which means that OP is desperate to look for one, I do not think it is even appropriate for you to look for that high position in this forum, this should only be a hub for services that are more on the low level positions. What you have recommended can definitely work, there is a lot of conferences that you can attend to if you want to expand your network although it depends on where you are from because the bitcoin scene might not be that big in your country or locality.
