821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Feeling more comfortable while integrating into the forum community on: November 07, 2023, 05:17:08 PM
Regarding the first one, you don't have to worry too much about the grammar part too much, as long as you are doing you're getting your point across then you're doing just fine, maybe consider grammar if you're an active participant in a lot of discussion, it helps but it's not a voluntary thing for you to be grammatically perfect, being perfect might even get you scrutiny for using an AI because of your too good to be true posting structure although it's not a taboo to use a grammar tool like Grammarly. Number 3 and 4 is going to be difficult for newbies to do because let's admit it already, a lot of people that have recently joined this forum aren't just here to learn about bitcoin and anything related to that, they're here to try and make money because they've probably heard that someone has been in this forum making money through stuff or they have a friend that's been in this forum for a long time now and they want to get into too and try it but then find it difficult to do because of the merit system.
822  Other / Meta / Re: Signature campaign as a creation of bitcointalk on: November 07, 2023, 03:47:31 PM
What makes Bitcointalk unique, is the level of freedom we get. Of course, it also helps that the forum owns $40M. Most other forums rely on advertising, and advertising in signatures would compete with the forum's own income. Bitcointalk doesn't have that problem.
I was supposed to be surprised about signature campaigns not being a thing that's started here in the forum but then I've read that this forum owns 40 million USD, talk about surprises. I do know that there's a lot of donators in the forum and that it's around a million at least but what I didn't know was this is the amount, are they all from donators to the forum though? And what are these insane amount of money used for?
823  Economy / Services / Re: Stake.com Account verification Level 4 on: November 07, 2023, 02:54:14 PM
You have broken their rules and that's why your account got banned and I don't think that anyone will be able to help you to get back your account unless Stake team gives you another chance which is unlikely to happen. It's always recommend to read the T&C of a casino before doing any gambling activities on their site and you broke their T&C which resulted in your account getting banned.
Is it Stake's right to withhold the money from the banned account though? That's not the way it should be right if yes is the answer to my question because that's basically stealing someone's money with just extra steps. Now I don't care about the T and Cs of any casinos but wouldn't someone be able to take out their money without any problems? Can someone explain to me why casinos get away with this horrible practice and how is this a justified thing to do to people because that's still money stucked in a banned account. Make me understand why that horrible practice is a thing.
824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Would you Like Your Pension Paid in Bitcoin? on: November 07, 2023, 02:23:57 PM
No bro, what I'd like to happen is the other way around, to have my pension be paid in bitcoins and be able to convert that bitcoin pension fund into fiat when I claim it at my local social security branch and given my belief in bitcoin that it's going to eventually cross the million dollar price point somewhere along my lifetime, I think that it's a win-win situation for me to do that but on the flip side though, some financial advisor would probably say to me that it's not a good way to save up for your pension and I do agree, even if you have a solid belief that bitcoin will never crash or be gone in your lifetime, you can never be wrong when you're playing it safe, always diversify.
825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fund for Bitcoin promotion on: November 07, 2023, 01:05:57 PM
I don't believe there's anything like that in existence because bitcoin in my opinion doesn't need to be that badly advertised. In a sense, this forum actually fits your criteria, the forum's got donators that help keep the lights on for the forum and many other things although this forum isn't technically an advertisement group, it stands as a pillar for the bitcoin movement especially since this was founded by Satoshi the bitcoin creator himself.
826  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Simple Yet Powerful Message That Will Always Hold True on: November 06, 2023, 08:08:36 AM
The message is lacking.  An investors need to learn about Bitcoin and the market movement.  Buying Bitcoin without knowing the market movement may make the investor end up buying at the top price.  This will render them to get paper losses and may take years to recover.  The advice on stashing it on the non-custodial wallet is a great advice but jumping into the Bitcoin market without any strategy or plan in mind may be disastrous if the person is just looking for a short term investment.
What you're trying to add right now, I think that it's going to complicate things, do you know about the adage one step at a time? I think that we should just let the beginners or newbies to experience first hand buying bitcoin, worrying about the prices is just a step I think they have to know when they finally bought bitcoin. Overwhelming them with all the unimportant stuff when they're just beginning with their journey will likely dishearten some of them.
827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin, when to buy on: November 06, 2023, 07:03:38 AM
The best time to buy bitcoin would be the time when bitcoin price is freefalling or during the bear season, I mean that's the time when people are panic selling hoping to cut their losses or just panicking entirely because a lot of them don't really like their investment going down in value. For me and maybe other logical people out there, that's the best time but you have to understand that when you buy at that time that the prices may continue to go down which will challenge your fortitude and mental endurance and if you know that you can survive that, you have to also know that you should just buy whenever you can and not wait for the lowest of that bear season because no one knows when and where it will bounce back.
828  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HODL is purely a mental challenge on: November 06, 2023, 06:05:27 AM
I think it's all about the mental and emotional game, right? They say not to let your feelings run the show, but let's be real, sometimes fear creeps in, especially when you're HODLing that Bitcoin. I've been on that rollercoaster myself, man. I mean, I'll preach 'HODL' all day, but in reality, it's not always easy to stick to it 100%.
It doesn't have to be a mental challenge or even an emotional one to be honest, I think that if you don't make bitcoin the only thing that revolves around your daily life. Now what I mean by that is that when you invest in bitcoin, you don't have to take it seriously by watching the market 24/7, if you're not a long-term investor I can understand why you have to be checking but for the sake of the topic, you are going to be a long-term HODLer which means that you're aiming for the long run growth of bitcoin, you don't need to worry about the dumps that's inevitable to happen in short-term. To be able to survive the HODLing, I think that you just have to learn to think that bitcoin's going to grow no matter what and your only goal in it is to accumulate until you're ready to profit.
829  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Axie Infinity Philippine Thread on: November 06, 2023, 05:14:08 AM
830  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tarot cards gamit pang predict ng market? on: November 06, 2023, 03:03:50 AM

832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FTX CEO Sam Bankman Fried found guilty on: November 05, 2023, 03:47:49 PM
That sentence that he's going to serve is good to secure that he's going to make it up to the quarter until the last bitcoin is mined. Sadly, he's not going to meet that because the sentence ain't enough, much better if the judge has added it and made exactly how long he needs that.
This is like justice to the ones that have been victims of his fraudulent activities and the result of swindling people's money. I just hope that he doesn't get special treatment inside.
There's still the possibility of appealing the case so there's a possibility that the Sam Bankman Fried would still be able to lower the sentence and I don't believe that this man is ever to face a really long jail time, it's a financial crime and I haven't seen a lot of people that has committed such act get a crazy amount of sentence. To be honest, I would rather have this man try his best and get all the money that he can get to pay back the people that he defrauded with his FTX. What's the significance of the verdict of this case to the development and growth of bitcoin anyway? I feel like this topic should be in the Legal board.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what if bitcoin becomes inferior on: November 05, 2023, 02:51:56 PM
In terms of network and how it works, there's not much improvements but given how there's already a lot of developers that have been trying to solve what bitcoin lacked and still not get the same result that bitcoin have shown through the years and even if there ever is a crypto that will beat bitcoin in terms of technology, no one's going to beat bitcoin when it comes to being a pioneer and being a solid investment plus you also have to consider that when it's cryptocurrency related, it's always going to be bitcoin that many will come from their mind first more than any other cryptocurrency out there so in terms of superiority, I don't think that bitcoin's going to be beaten by any even if they say they've got a better technology than what bitcoin has because they lack bitcoin's prestige and notoriety.
834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Do You Plan to Make the Most of Your Bitcoin Investment Before the Halving? on: November 05, 2023, 01:58:08 PM
It's easy for me, I have a lot of amicable relatives and friends and I have done this kind of thing before which is asking them a considerable amount of money for loan, this isn't a lot of people so you don't have to raise your eyebrows about me not being genuine but these people that I plan to ask for a loan knows that I am invested in bitcoin and many other cryptocurrency and I've shared my profits to these people back then so they know that I'm trustworthy. Now, this might sound weird to you and even irresponsible but the loans aren't that big and they know that I can pay and there's no interest since they're close friends and relatives/family so the increase in payback is just me giving it out of good will and a token of gratitude. I would understand that some of you if not all might be full of doubts that this is a true but I can assure you that this is the truth. By the way, the money that I'm borrowing from them isn't that large amount, maybe around $150 would be the highest. Not the most ideal way to accumulate bitcoin quickly but the opportunity was there so I just grabbed it (no interest family/friend loan).
835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin help? on: November 04, 2023, 03:06:06 PM
Bitcoin offers the possibility of being paid for online jobs without bureaucracy and expensive costs of transactions through its decentralized blockchain and nature. However, without jobs, there isn't Bitcoin, as it's just a currency, a mean of payment people receive for their effort, deeds and skills. We can't expect to solve the poverty problem in the world by sharing free money with everyone. People still have to develop a career, to become proficient in something they can assist the society and then be paid for that.
Good thing that it's only a possibility because if you've worked in payroll department before then you know that it's going to be a headache to deal when one of the employees don't want to follow the same payment scheme compared to the other employees. Regards to bureaucracy, even if you get paid in bitcoin, depending on your country, you might still have to make sure that you're earnings paid in bitcoin will be included in your taxes.
I think that most if not all users in the forum have the same benefits from bitcoin with bitcoin being a crutch for their daily expenses if not outright supporting them financially. I'm worried about your statement about youths being dependent on bitcoin too much in building their careers because I feel like if that's the case then when they there's a problem that involves bitcoin, what are they going to do then?
There are others although I feel rare might be changed not because bitcoin helped them financially speaking but they're enamored by the concept of bitcoin and being free from the oppressive and archaic banking system and that they don't care much about the value of bitcoin in terms of money but more like the concept of it, I mean Vitalik could probably be a good example of a person that bitcoin has helped in terms of building new concepts.
836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: November 04, 2023, 01:43:35 PM
There wouldn't be irresponsible gamblers if all of them start accepting defeat and forget their losses instead of chasing them. It's chasing losses that makes us lose even more because we tend to use strategies such as martingale which further increases the chances of us losing more money.
Dude, that's not how you solve irresponsible gambling, it's not gambling if you stop at the first loss. Gambling is supposed to be an entertainment as many would like to say so the real way to remove irresponsibility is to take a step back, self reflect and make sure that you are thinking that you're only gambling to pass the time and not because you want to make money and that when your money runs out, that's the time that you're going to stop. My point is, having a discipline is probably the only way that I think that you can be sure that you're not going to be gambling irresponsibly.
And there is absolutely no point in doing that because you can't hit a winning target unless you are lucky at a particular time or day when you are gambling, and when you are losing and you keep playing, you will only lose more which is what many gamblers don't understand.
If you're relying on luck or the stars aligning for you when you're gambling, maybe it's not in your best interest to gamble because luck reliant behavior is only going to end with you being frustrated about the end results of your gambling activities which is definitely going to be full of losses.
837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: November 04, 2023, 12:20:47 PM
The old adage for most of the people here is, of course, the payout from the signature campaign. When I started, it wasn't Bitcoin I was earning but a number of shitcoins with little to no value in exchange price. It was at that time I realized that mindlessly posting non-interesting stuff is a waste of time. I just thought that as long as there is a Bitcoin or crypto-related word within that sentence, it would do just fine, but really it isn't. Not only did it waste my free time, but it also made me stagnant in terms of knowledge about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general.

The second would be the Bitcointalk art contest! Boy, oh boy! Consistently winning these contests on a streak for the last 3 years is euphoric! I mean, who in the world could expect that a very technical Bitcoin forum could be a reservoir for Bitcoin-paying art contests? Those winnings not only built a good amount of Bitcoin stash but also helped me finance my tuition fees for my bachelor's degree! I know those are just temporary, but hey, these contests earned a large part of where I am now.
Of the stuff that I've read in the thread, this is the first that I've read that didn't get it's earnings in bitcoins first which is pretty awesome, it's like going from shit to gold if you catch my drift. And the way that your posting quality has also improved when you finally switched to earning in bitcoin, you're basically doing a double entendre by comparing your transition to shitcoins to bitcoin with your character development in a way.

Your artworks, I've seen some of them and I got to say that some of your works that didn't get the first place in some of the contest for me feels like that's the one that should've gotten the first place but you win some, you lose some in life right? It's also an inspiring story that your art contest wins helped fund your education, who said that your passion can't feed you?
838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FIAT or CRYPTO? on: November 04, 2023, 09:42:50 AM
That high volatility you're talking about is what attracted me to invest in bitcoin and some other shitcoins that has potential, most of the time people only talk about extreme volatility when they're only talking about the prices suddenly going down which is understandable but unfair because there's two sides to a highly volatile asset, the one which is the price suddenly going down which is always the one in the spotlight but the other one is the price suddenly going up and investing in crypto offers you that chance to be able to reap a really great profit in a matter of days or months which can never be done when you're invested in fiat inclined investments, those stuff takes a long time because the banks said so.

At the end though, they both have their own advantages, with fiat having more stability since it's backed by the government meanwhile with crypto, it can illegal in your country so there's that. I guess the choices fall upon your risk assessment, if you want to be at ease with your investment, maybe consider fiat and crypto if you're the risky kind.
839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No advertisement for btc on: November 04, 2023, 08:55:32 AM
Bitcoin is the crypto world's poster child so it's no surprise that even if there's not a lot of growth in advertising, the price of bitcoin is still growing. Another advantage of bitcoin and why it's thriving despite no ads for it is the fact that it grows no matter what is the news that it's been given, be it negative or positive, in a way it's always going to benefit in the long-term because it's always getting people to be curious about bitcoin, another advantage that I can think of (although I would be happy if this isn't an advantage) is bitcoin's always the choice of scammers to use as a crypto to entice their victims which, with the scammers just showing the growth of bitcoin in over a decade to their potential victims and then shoehorning their scam tokens, it's no surprise that people will always be entice and have the FOMO in them that they felt with bitcoin.

In short, bitcoin became a common word that's associated with cryptocurrency and so there's no need to do advertising to it although it could benefit greatly from that given that it hasn't reached a global adoption yet (at least to my standards).
840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how secure are your telling fellow wo/man about this forum and bitcoin on: November 04, 2023, 08:03:47 AM
I assume you're scared that when you introduce your friend to the forum, that you might think that you're using an alt but you don't have to worry about it because you can just sign a message and her can do the same thing and you'll be fine. But if that's not what you're worried about then I suggest you just have to go on your daily routine, if she really want to be introduced to this forum and to bitcoin and it's in her best interest that she don't mess with you because once that happens, it's over for her to be guided by you. To be safe, maybe just let her explore the forum on her own, don't give your account if you don't feel secure, that's your prerogative anyways. It's not like you're flaunting your wealth in anyway, you're just telling them how you are making a part of the money to make ends meet and also think of it this way, they might not even be thinking what bad thing you are thinking and that you're probably suffering needlessly.
