Hi, you misunderstood me. I was talking about mtgox, not LastPass.
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 23, 2012, 08:23:36 PM
That's not the story that was presented.

You can check it for yourself. They really don't try to block you after 3 tries. It probably doesn't have anything to do with how the hacker guess it but it could help.

She have two problems: Laziness and inability to update belief.
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is HUGE: WIKISPEED, first car-maker in the world to accept Bitcoin on: July 23, 2012, 06:42:10 PM
Site store kinda messy. Could be done better.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 23, 2012, 06:39:08 PM
Last time I check, MtGox doesn't prevent people from trying as many time as they want. It should be something they fix, but don't.
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Killer App: High Yield Investments on: July 23, 2012, 06:22:58 PM
The difference is, that in Bitcoin, some of these rates CAN be sustained. Bitcoin has such low fees and almost no government interference. Bitcoin loans are often 10% MPR. Mining can get you 1% WPR. I don't know about 7%, but Bitcoin is not fiat, and it shouldn't be treated like it has fiat's limitations.

The old rules still apply: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

No matter what, it still won't excuse you from doing your homework and due diligence.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 23, 2012, 06:18:31 PM
Why go through the trouble of telling people about hacks and passwords and staying where you are when you can just quietly shut down and run far far away with the money from where you live? Why the complicated gambit of appearing legit and why risk jailtime for your robbery?

Let me tell ya, it isn't really an inside job. It's really just extreme incompetence. There's no conspiracy, because if there was, it was an extremely unbelievable conspiracy with a well executed unnecessary complicated gambit.

And it won't make you feel better knowing what I said.
668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Killer App: High Yield Investments on: July 23, 2012, 05:36:08 PM
The sad fact is: being an early adopter does in no way guarantee that you'll become rich.

People will be scammed, lost bitcoin to bad investment, lost bitcoin to forgetting passwords, lost bitcoin due to no backup, lost bitcoin to real life circumstance, etc.

Bitcoin is not easy money.

Good advice that I expect will be widely ignored: only invest in what you know.

We need a bitcoin motivational poster:

DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vegemesta restaurant in Helsinki accepting Bitcoin on: July 21, 2012, 12:47:49 PM
I doubt there will be more than a handful of bitcoin purchases but I hope they like it nonetheless.
672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Chrome Extension on: July 20, 2012, 11:13:51 PM
I was busy working on other projects and didn't have the time to develop the extension very much, but I didn't forget to update chrome-bitcoin every Friday.

This time, I merely made a transactions page in which you can see the last ten transactions.

Next update will probably have something to do with blockchain.info. If not, expect to see the transactions page improve.
673  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Announce] "Pay What You Want" at CoinDL - downloads marketplace, Bitcoin-only on: July 20, 2012, 10:50:43 PM
Because... why? Smiley

There's just no incentive for weex to release this information.

I would like to follow the beat and pulse of the community by tracking economic activities. It's a shame that those information are considered business secrets.
674  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-07-19 cnet.com - As cash runs low, WikiLeaks finds way to accept plastic ag on: July 20, 2012, 07:26:07 PM

imho they'd raise a hell of a lot more by sticking with a payment method that doesn't require the permission/consent of their enemies and showing that they can actually do real work with funds from that source.

Really?  Huh

Bitcoin also need the consent from its enemies to keep money flowing into the system until we get big enough.
675  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Announce] "Pay What You Want" at CoinDL - downloads marketplace, Bitcoin-only on: July 20, 2012, 04:25:38 AM
I agree and have no plans to provide such data.

Why?
676  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Announce] "Pay What You Want" at CoinDL - downloads marketplace, Bitcoin-only on: July 20, 2012, 03:45:35 AM
I think this is a really bad idea.

Why?
677  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-07-19 gizmodo.com - The Secret Online Weapons Store That’ll Sell Anyone Any on: July 20, 2012, 02:20:15 AM
i think i get how this works now.

on one day, someone buys up a lot of bitcoins causing the price to rally.  there was no news whatsoever but it rose nearly 10% (with average purchase price well under $8.50)

the next day comes the pump article from a conde nast publication which talks about the huge rally, which sucks in a lot more buyers (well over $9)

there is a little volatility, as the pumper unloads some of the bitcoins that had been bought.

then the next day from the exact same conde nast organization comes the dump article, how bitcoin is the grease that helps arm a guerrilla army

and once the price starts to dip, commence the huge selloff bringing things back to about where they were before (with average selling price well over $8.50)

someone at conde nast knowing in advance that the armory article would be coming out would probably not publish the "omfg itz $9" article.  but since it is two separate publications, there is plausible deniability.

Except the whole price increase is done before arstechnica reports on it.
678  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-07-18 arstechnica.com - Bitcoin price soars above $9 for the first time... on: July 19, 2012, 11:51:55 AM
nothing changed in the comments section =) some people in 10 years will be saying same thing over and over while rest of the planet moves on to a new form of value exchange

Ten year is enough time to make wikipedia skeptics to go away. We just need ten years for bitcoin skeptics to go away too.
679  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: High Altitude and Below Water Hamster Habitats, accepting donations! on: July 18, 2012, 09:03:13 PM
Instead of hamsters, you should use naked mole rats!  Cheesy

Why, you ask?

Because they can live up to 28 years, can't get cancer, don't age and is immune to hot sauce. That's why!
680  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How would you like to design a bitcoin banknote? on: July 17, 2012, 09:56:05 PM
"Of the people" sounds to me too much like "Of the 99%".  It sounds politically charged, even if it arguably isn't.

Yes. It's important to remember that EVERYONE can adopt it for any reason and that include 1%ers and drug lords!
