How about starting a BTCT stock to raise funds for legal action against Avalon.
The action this stock would get would be incredible..

I believe it is illegal to do this in Texas.  We brought a wrongful death lawsuit in Colorado, and that was one avenue we considered to pay the legal fees.

We represented ourselves pro se in the Federal court of appeals out of Denver.  We won several points on the appeal, by the way.

With my own past experience, I can't recommend that you pursue a lawsuit.

Sorry, but what does this have to do with Texas?  Is Avalon based there?

It may be illegal in other US states.  I don't have experience in them.  There may be people who are living in Texas who want to join this lawsuit.  They should learn more.

Is there a way to set a 4th pool in the web interface?

You might use the more option field for this, just append 4th pool setting to your avalon options, such as

Quote
--real-quiet --avalon-auto -o stratum+tcp://stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -O ur_worker_name:123456

Didn't tried it, but it should work.  Why do you need 4th pool?

I am hosting a 4th module.  I want to point it to eligius's pool with it's own payout address.  The only way I can think to do this is to have 3 miners point to 1 address, and the 4th miner point to the other address.

I am testing a 4th module in the Avalon.  I am mining in eligius's pool with a different address during the test.

I got a pm from xiangfu asking me for my tx id and my order #, in order to help expedite the process. I hope this helps. I could really use my coins back.

Thank you for posting.

There is one for sale unassembled from BlackArrow http://www.cardreaderfactory.com/shop/power-distribution-unit.html. Otherwise, I would try contacting Bitmine.ch on ordering fully assembled replacement parts.

Ordered.  Thanks.
668  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: August 21, 2013, 05:16:20 PM
anyone tried removing the rear panel for batch 1 and lowers temp?
I have removed for batch#3 and lowered temperature by 2C. The presure felt when keeping panel with the hand was pretty substantial. I'm sure that if the slots were larger and beveled on the inside too it would have been better.
You might give it a try, it's not even necessary to power down the machine if you're careful and don't mind back panel to lye captive by the power cord.

I cringe at the thought of one of those metal nuts bouncing onto the pdu board.

On a true B3, yes. On a B2'ed B3, no. On a B2/B3 hybrid, yes.

which question are you answering?
672  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Avalon Batch #3 PDU on: August 20, 2013, 07:46:04 PM
I assume people will need to buy or sell Avalon parts from time to time.

Is the power distribution board different for a Batch #3 Avalon?

Are board files available?

Will anyone sell one?

I used the re-flashed retail unit with no hardware modification for an hour or so.  The mini-USB supplied power.  The Avalon USB plugged into the side.  I removed one of the screws from the top of the Avalon and fed the USB cable through the slot, and mounted the TP-Link outside the case.

I later modified this unit, I removed a 0R resistor to disconnect the internal antenna, and added a 0R resistor to backfeed power from the Avalon USB connector, and added the antenna, and replaced the dead internal unit, and closed it all up.

Does the blue light stay on with your TP-Link?  If you push the reset button while it is starting up, does the blue LED flash about twice/second?
Are you trying to connect via the LAN jack?  I think the WiFi has to be configured.

Can't the original TP-link be send to TP-link for reflashing? Maybe for a small fee or so?

There is a serial connection on the board of the TP-Link to do a serial boot.  The OpenWRT community is very familiar with this process.  The gotcha with the TP-Link is that those traces are very fragile, and if someone tacks wires to it and does not provide strain relief, they will rip the traces off the board.

I might be willing to sell a spare 703n flashed with the ckolvias latest release firmware, and to buy a distressed unit.  Shipping would cost almost as much as a buying a new unit, then there is my time, so I am an expensive, last resort option.

7.5 btc for a broken module. Cry

Can you explain how it is unfair?
677  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: August 20, 2013, 11:16:42 AM
I tried this today with a TP-LINK TL-WR703N  20130703 but it looks like it bricked it. After the flash I couldn't connect to it at all.  Also, unlike the routers in the Avalons or a Raspberry PI it required an external power supply to work but when I used it the Avalon wouldn't power up at all. Am I missing a hardware mod or something?

Was happily running 20130703 since release with no issues at all. Highly recommended (on 20 or so units - batch 1 and 2, on my batch 3's I just run stock because of the temp sensor change etc). I saw the new firmware and decided to give it a shot on a batch 1 and it bricked it. No reset or nothing could get it back.

I figured no problem. I picked up some extra TL-MR3020 to replace the TP-LINK TL-WR703N router but those didn't flash and in the end I gave up on messing with that (from what I can tell you need a custom one or something).

A retail TP-Link 703n can be found on eBay or Amazon for about $20.  It can be flashed with the 20130703 firmware, and then plugged into the USB cable inside the Avalon.  The LAN cable or WiFi can be used to access it.  It has a mini-USB power cable.  I ran a for-repair Avalon a few hours this way before I got the soldering iron and made a permanent repair.

I recently received a B2 3-module unit.

- What's the best I can do with the stock PSU, 325?
- What settings should I use? I'm currently on: --avalon-options 115200:24:10:d:355 --avalon-auto --avalon-freq 256-375 --avalon-temp 55
- If I'm upgrading my PSU, which model is most recommended?

There are many units hashing at 80-85 GH/s.

For those of you who think it is easy to order chips and that YiFu could easily have done better and cheaper, I offer a challenge:

Make it so.

I think many of you a missing the boat here. It's REALLY not about the time so much as it is the complete lack of information, plus the behind-the-scenes activity that is readily apparent, but not mentioned.
All YiFu has to do is make an effort to keep everyone up to date on where things stand at any given point in time.

Week 1: "Ordered chips with XYZ @ TSMC" Dated: xx-xx-2013
Week 2: "All/some batches of chips are being slated for production on xx-xx-2013"
Week 3: "Orders continue to come in, I am working to get them filled by TSMC/other company. Got a strange letter today, looks like it might be an extortion attempt."
Week 4: "TSMC is having problems with XYZ, chips may be delayed 1-2 weeks."
Week 5: "Batch 1 is still on schedule, but batches XYZ look like they will be 2 weeks later. Sorry, it's out of my hands right now."
Week 6: "Batch 1 to be completed this week, should ship to us next week."
Week 7: "Batch 1 had a little problem, will ship to us this week still, but not as early as I hoped. Some team members are not playing nicelt with each other."
Week 8: "Batch 1 is here, but we are being harassed by the local mafia. Need to figure out how to deal with them and ship our chips."

You get the point. If he had done this, I would have literally zero problem with delays. Now if the same delay or same issues keeping causing delays, that obviously would be a different case. When you provide no customer feedback and things go wrong/late and then post after the fact; it is a serious blow to credibility. Then when it is obvious that you are "viewing" this forum and choosing NOT to respond; well... I don't know what is considered a massive insult in Asian cultures, but to me it is clearly insulting that he would bother reading all the posts and just ignore us.
I am led to believe it has been the vocal among us that has provoked YiFu to "do" something. You can surmise otherwise, but thanks to those who have let YiFu know how this has impacted you. Yeah it's business, but it started as a community first.

I do think that a scheduled weekly announcement would be good both for Yifu and for us, even if it just says 'took time off, did nothing.'
680  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: August 19, 2013, 05:06:49 PM

850 is not really enough for even 3 modules. Mine was making some horrible noises. I was able to fit a 1350 watt psu in it. Most of my power supplies did not want to fit in the case.  I would get something big enough that your not over 80% load. You get a better efficiency the closer you get to 50-60% load.

What model PSU?
