Gridcoin will be showcased on http://cyber.fund/ and they are asking for opinion/input on the slide they are creating for GRC! I created a separate thread for this discussion.

Wouldn't a malicious actor with a botnet be able to raise the hash rate so far that the block reward stays very low for an extended period of time?

So If I understand correctly, the higher the hashrate the lower the block reward and the higher the network weight the higher the interest for POS?

It looks like we are about ready. Let's hope there are no more "snags".

Looks like Andreas Antonopoulos is aware of the "useful" alts including Gridcoin. I wonder how many Gridcoins he owns? ;-)

You can start with a small amount, 10-20. Obviously the more the better. This site http://uscore.net/ is giving away 20 por grc for starters.

Posted. How many GRC research approx do I need to stake within the 2 week period reliably?

Hmm I have never used a scrypt asic myself to mine GRC classic, prob best is to go here: https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/2380-technical-support/

CPU and an old scrypt asic. I can post my conf and .bat file here if you'd like.
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: January 25, 2015, 05:07:57 PM
What kind of hardware do you have, are you planning to mine with gpu or cpu?

I have both. The address that I posted is from the new wallet.

I was trying to mine on the old one, to earn some coins (which I could then burn). Is there a good place to ask for help getting that to work? Here?

Thanks!

Hey gore, nice signature you got there Smiley

Anyone feeling generous and want to give me a few coins to start with?

I've been trying to mine on the gridcoin classic wallet to get some, but keep getting connection 500 errors to the wallet. Is it still possible to do this?

Edit: my address is: S9Dm7mG2ZXYsr9Hi58KqDg8CRjC6bzsvbf

Are You using Gridcoin research (new) wallet? Old wallet is not supported anymore and all gridcoins have to be converted to Gridcoin research coins via burner (http://pool.gridcoin.us/CoinExchange.aspx). Anyway IŽll send You some coins for start, just make sure You are using new wallet and post right adress.

They prob already sold them and kept the money, LOL!

Anyone heard from these guys? Did they run away with all the equipment? LOL

The equipment is obsolete long ago, it has no value.

He used a lot of GPUs though, this should have at least some value for resale.

That is what I was thinking too, it looks like they have disappeared!

Their last announcement was on the 10th of October, after that nada.

Jail for the scammers

It is not really a scam. Every mining equipment become obsolete after few months.
But he should have made an announcement instead of staying silent.

Hey toshis.guru,

That is an awesome write up. It would be nice if there were 2 sections, one for GRC classic and one for POR GRC! GRC classic will be retiring around March. While POR (Proof of Research) GRC is the future!

Very nice compilation of info on GRC! Good job people! I am sure it will help the newbs.

All of us added a lot of Q&A to http://wiki.gridcoin.us/FAQ but it has gotten messy with time.

So, we structured the questions (nearly 60 already) into categories and sub-headings.

Please check for consistency and update info where you find necessary. Thanks!

Yep, we are getting close and closer. I would say another 1-2 weeks max before we hit the exchanges.

any news about GRC PoR's exchanges?
Was thought to be today, but too many people are still reporting issues with the current build. Rob also announced that he added some security patches, so it will probably be some time still untill the new client finally arrives at the exchanges.

well, rob is a great worker and i've faith in him! i'm sure he will do it when grc will be ready Smiley
In addition, unhappy hackers have heard of our exchange plans and ddos us in a last resort Tongue

so sad Sad

grc seems the coin that had the highter number of hack attack Sad
in the end it will render us stronger and more robust Smiley
