Gridcoin Research 3.3.8.5/20.8
Mandatory Upgrade

- Transition Block: 130670
- ** FIXED BUG IN calculation of LastPaymentTime causing POR blocks not to be paid **

Earlier Today:
- Modified CPID maximum magnitude range to be 1-2000 (from 80% of MaxBlockSubsidy) - Lederstrumpf algo makes it expoentially harder to reach 2000 after 90% of the mag is reached (starting at 1800 mag)
- Added ability to pay researcher up to 5 blocks per day
- RSA long term owed is now based on Mag*Multiplier*14 with a Maximum POR capped subsidy of MaxBlockSubsidy*14*5 (IE high magnitude CPIDs may earn up to 5 blocks per day to be compensated properly)
- Merged 75% of the cross platform downloadblocks/upgrade into the core
- Added Green POR mined indicator for POR mined blocks/ Yellow means interest blocks  (Old mined POR blocks should now be yellow - this affects future blocks only)

Gridcoin will be showcased on http://cyber.fund/ and they are asking for opinion/input on the slide they are creating for GRC! I created a separate thread for this discussion.

    - Renamed RRSA to RSA Weight, and removed the 3 unecessary fields.
    - Adjusted the Green POR Block priority to Gold then Green

Nice work. How will this affect existing non-asic miners?

Nice work. How will this affect existing non-asic miners?
All projects in Gridcoin run Independendly and reward calculation does only recognize competitors in the same project.
Hence, CPU competes against CPU, GPU competes against GPU, and radiation sensor competes against radiation sensor (yes, BOINC has such science).

I was thinking of picking up one of those rockminers for BitcoinUtopia. On ebay the 35gh's ones go for 40 bucks.

Please cast your vote on reddit:

"We’re Team Koinify: Help us choose the next crypto / dApp / open sourced project you’d like to see community crowdfunded!

    Hey /r/Bitcoin,

Team [Koinify](https://www.koinify.com/) here. We’re a marketplace for decentralized applications (dApps), running crowdfunding campaigns to help fund dApp projects.

    -------------------------

As a giveback to the community, we’d like to run a donation-based, zero-fee crowdfunding campaign for an open-sourced crypto project to help with their exposure and funding. We’re now crowdsourcing the most attractive and impactful project in the ecosystem.

This crowdfunding campaign will have no fee, but still vest on our milestone based fund release structure, such that developer will have fully aligned incentives to deliver after the crowdfunding ends. We want to leverage our connections and influence for the greater good by helping an early stage project emerge from the shadows. It will be 100% donation driven, with all the money going directly to the team. Koinify will do its customary and expected due diligence on the team and the project, vetting and ensuring they are worthy of the campaign.

    -------------------------

What do you see as one of the most potentially disruptive areas/projects? Is it crypto infrastructure, is it a dApp, or is it an open sourced protocol? What project do you think will help push the crypto community forward as a whole?

Let us know in the comments below by telling us which project or team you’d like to see a crowdfunding campaign for, and why you believe they should be picked for the crowdfunding campaign. The raised BTC goal and time constraints will depend upon the project that is chosen by the community."

We will leave this thread open for 48 hours. After 48 hours, we will count the number of comments / votes. Let us know, and we can get this running as soon as possible.

    -------------------------

Examples: BitMesh, DarkWallet, BitSquare, FactomLinux, etc. Projects that haven’t received VC funding, are open sourced, and that would help our community and ecosystem grow stronger.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2vkay6/were_team_koinify_help_us_choose_the_next_crypto/

Koinify is a large player: http://www.coindesk.com/koinify-1-million-smart-corporation-crowdfunding/
Getting featured would beam us to frontpages of all news channels in crypto, simply by earning their reddit vote.

they use a crowdfunding model that looks like handing tokens to newcomers so everyone can buy a share as they like.
Besides, they work closely together with project developers to support marketing of future milestones.
Thereby, a lot of interested folks could enter a position to get started with Gridcoin.

I really don't feel like going through the hassle of obtaining BTC to buy old GRC with and then going through the burn process, so I'd like to just buy some new GRC right out. It doesn't look like the exchanges have updated..

WTB 2900 GRC for .1 BTC. filled, thanks!
