661  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Having Trouble With Electrum Wallet Recovery on: October 20, 2023, 06:34:33 PM
I don't even know what is this passphrase.
Passphrase is a combination of characters or words added to your seed phrase for extra security. If you extend your seed phrase with a passphrase, you will get completely different addresses and you will need that whenever you want to recover your wallet from seed phrase.
The passphrase is also called "13th word" or "custom words".

According to 2-b in your reply, it seems that you had no passphrase.

2-b - did not extend the seed with custom words
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does BIP39 allow for the same words to be repeated more than twice in a seed? on: October 20, 2023, 03:41:07 PM
This leaves me with this question. There is a higher possibility of words being repeated in a seed phrase, or 24 words. Let's assume up to 3–4 random words are repeated to make up those 24 words. won't it make it a bit easier for such a seed phrase to easily be guessed?
Take note the the seed phrase is not generated by selecting words. For a generating a seed phrase, a random entropy is generated and that's encoded to a series of words.

If the seed phrase has been generated in the correct way, there's nothing to worry about.
The chance of a word repeating 3 or 4 times is very very low and even if that happens, there's nothing to worry about in the case the seed phrase has been generated completely randomly.

663  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Having Trouble With Electrum Wallet Recovery on: October 20, 2023, 03:29:31 PM
Let’s get back to where you restored the wallet, hope you did that correctly because electrum has two seed formats.
What do you mean by "two seed formats"? Are you talking about the script type?

In the case the seed phrase has been generated by electrum itself, its type is recognized by electrum once you enter it.
It's not possible to generate a legacy wallet from a segwit seed phrase or vice versa.

If the seed phrase has not been generated by electrum and that's BIP39, there would be three script types, not two.
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does BIP39 allow for the same words to be repeated more than twice in a seed? on: October 20, 2023, 03:23:46 PM
I was just wondering if - although unlikely - it was possible for a wallet to generate a 24 word seed that contains 3 of the same word.
Yes, that's possible.
(In theory) It's even possible that you generate a 24 word seed phrase and a single word is repeated 24 times.

The probability of a single word is repeated n times decreases exponentially with increase in n and that's why it's unlikely that you generate a seed phrase in which a single word is repeated 3 times, but as I said that's possible.

This post has been edited. Thanks LoyceV for the correction.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does BIP39 allow for the same words to be repeated more than twice in a seed? on: October 20, 2023, 03:05:58 PM
Whenever you generate a BIP39 seed phrase, you actually generate a random number and your seed phrase represents that random number.

For example, if you generate a 24 word BIP39 seed phrase, the random number can be any number between 0 and 2256-1. This means that any of the words can be repeated multiple times.

The BIP39 standard doesn’t allow for any word to be repeated more than two times in a seed phrase.
This is completely wrong.
666  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: A transaction - UTXO’s, new output(s), input(s) and previous output(s). on: October 20, 2023, 02:45:04 PM
What a joke, honesty. What benefit would I have in blindly copying other's?! Fine. I'll have a post up on Reddit r/Bitcoin, where I'll feature my account here, I'll link the post. What a joke.
FbnGbz, people here are trying to help you.
Your posts have been already reported for plagiarism and there's a big possibility that they will be removed by moderators soon and you will be banned.
According to the new post you made on reddit, it's clear that you have not plagiarized anything and the posts on reddit have been made by you.

I recommend you to edit the topics you made on this forum. Add something like "I have already posted this on reddit  and I have not plagiarized .............." so that moderators are aware of that whenever they handle the reports.
667  Other / Meta / Re: "Creation of topic date" Suggestion on: October 20, 2023, 02:04:20 PM
We can't see the topic creation time, but we can sort the topics into their creation time order.

To do so, just add ";sort=first_post" at the end if the URL.
To sort topic into descending order, add "first_post;desc" at the end of URL.

For example, you can sort the topics posted in Meta into their creation time using the following URLs.

Ascending order: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0;sort=first_post
Descending order: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0;sort=first_post;desc

I hope this helps you.

These URLs don't sort the topics into their creation time, but into their last post time.
668  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: A transaction - UTXO’s, new output(s), input(s) and previous output(s). on: October 20, 2023, 01:45:14 PM
A transaction locks value (bitcoin) to an address or a script,
It may worth mentioning that there are no addresses in the protocol level.
Bitcoin addresses are used for sending and receiving fund easier. Coins are always locked using scripts.

i.e: two UTXO’s of 0.1 and 0.2 BTC respectively are poured together into one UTXO of 0.3 BTC.
0.3 BTC minus transaction fee.

How come the transaction fee increases when multiple UTXO's are used, instead of one?
The more inputs/outputs your transaction contains, the bigger size of data you have to broadcast and the more fee you have to pay miners to include your transaction in the blockchain.
669  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What wallet would you recommend? on: October 20, 2023, 09:08:10 AM
Did you buy mining devices, or is it a type of cloud mining, or those sites that ask you to invest in mining farms and get the profits for your wallet?
I don't think OP is going to invest in (scam) cloud mining services. He/she referred to ViaBTC which is a mining pool and has probably purchased a mining machine. (Click here to read the post.)

Edit:
According to another topic made by OP, it seems that OP is going to buy an Antminer S19.
Antminer S19 95TH setup
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin hash cracking help please on: October 19, 2023, 02:16:56 PM
No, I did not set the password for the wallet at that time, someone else did, and not knowing the password was not as important as it is now.
So, you have no idea about possible passphrases.
Unless the passphrase is short and it contains only a few characters, there is no way to brute-force that.

Since you say the password was set by someone else, I doubt that's yours.
Isn't the wallet owned by the person who set the password?
671  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: October 18, 2023, 07:41:13 PM
I mean there is a dude with 30% of the whole tickets, that one was a bit legit huge deal, and he could have still lost (and maybe someone with 30% lost in others, I do not know)
The biggest percentage of tickets that didn't lead to winning the lambo was 10.8%.
In the first round, someone with 644,523 out of 5,954,090 tickets had around 10.8% chance to win the prize, but someone with only 185 tickets and the winning chance of 0.0031% won the prize.
672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need little help understanding about transactions. on: October 18, 2023, 07:28:32 AM
Once a node verify your transaction, then it becomes permanent in the bitcoin ledger.
Once a node validates a transaction, the node puts the transaction in its mempool and broadcast it to other nodes. This doesn't mean the transaction will be definitely included in the blockchain.
The transaction will go to the blockchain and will be permanently there, after a miner includes it in a block.

Take note that even a transaction has been been validated by many nodes, there is no guarantee that it will be finally confirmed.
673  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unisat gives different public address after importing a private key on: October 17, 2023, 09:08:15 PM
5JeUTH3HH3RPDSxzU8JaRopQd9TV2dqbbaBSB1m8zcKzVQ6Nf16
This is an uncompressed private key and as stated by nc50lc, the problem is with how Unisat generates address from an uncompressed private key.

The compressed private key associated with the uncompressed private key you posted is KztQAyo4qogd3wc8ejEaYVeFGYKtiDbVhbT47CMpHGvpk741sBA1.
If you import this private key in electrum, you will get the same address as the one generated by Unisat.
674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can we compare blocks produced by network mining nodes in terms of trxn order? on: October 17, 2023, 10:41:43 AM
Yes, miner can choose any transaction and include it in any order (with exception of Coinbase TX).
There's another requirement that should be considered by miners when they place transactions in the block.

Since nodes verify transactions in the order they have been placed in the block, if there's a parent and a child and a miner wants to include both of them in the same block, the parent must be placed before the child.
675  Economy / Economics / Re: Isreal and Palestine war and losing your wallet phrase and password on: October 17, 2023, 10:15:35 AM
So what will you do if you survive after the war to start back your financial struggling and your crypto investment journey. Or can you get the coins back?
There's nothing you can do. If you have neither the wallet file nor the seed phrase, there is no way to recover the wallet.

It's always recommended to keep multiple copies of your seed phrase in different locations.
For more security, you can consider graving your seed phrase on a stainless steel plate instead of a writing it down on a paper.
676  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Ledger doesn't show transaction, it shows up in Electrum. What's going on? on: October 16, 2023, 10:19:32 PM
I was thinking seed phrase is the mnemonic for the private key, but since private key is actually a bitcoin address, it's not. The seed phrase is the mnemonic for the MASTER private key.
A seed phrase (which is called mnemonic phrase as well) is a series of words and can generate the master private key and numerous addresses.

Right? So private key = one bitcoin address (which can differ based on script type)?
A single private key can generate three types of addresses. A legacy address which starts with 1, a nested segwit address which start with 3 and a native segwit address which starts with bc1.
677  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What wallet would you recommend? on: October 16, 2023, 01:49:50 PM
I understood, so Electrum is an app, or is a service where I have to make myself an account?
Electrum isn't like a website/service in which you register an account.
Electrum is an open-source non-custodial wallet. In electrum, you can create a wallet, send and receive bitcoin and have full control over your fund.

In the case, you want to use electrum, download it only from its official website and verify your download.

I also purchased a cold wallet,
In a hardware wallet, the keys are kept offline and it can give you a good security.

It may worth mentioning that electrum can be also used offline if you have an airgapped device. Of course, you may not need that, since you have a hardware wallet.

however I understood that for mining a warm one should be better, and the excess funds to transfer to the cold one, right?
There's nothing stopping you from receiving fund from a mining pool to your hardware wallet.
678  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need little help understanding about transactions. on: October 16, 2023, 01:36:40 PM
It is not possible for two transactions to have one transaction ID or hash at the same time as the transaction is possibly being done in different pool or miners so would definitely give out different transaction hash.
The transaction hash isn't determined by miners or mining pools.
The transaction Hash (TXID) is obtained by hashing the transaction data through SHA256 function twice.

2. Upon making a Bitcoin payment, you would be deducted or charged for your transaction which is called a nonce
Nonce is something completely different.

and it varies based on the volume of the payment you want to do.
What do you mean by volume of the payment?
If you mean the amount of bitcoin, you are wrong. The transaction fee doesn't depend on the amount you send.
The transaction fee depends on the number of inputs and outputs, addresses type, how much you can wait for your transaction to be confirmed and how congested the network is.

The gas fees as earlier said said by a poster is Paid to miners who confirms the transaction for usage.
The gas is the term used for some altcoins like ethereum. There is no gas fee in bitcoin.
679  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need little help understanding about transactions. on: October 16, 2023, 12:40:05 PM
transaction fee are set by nodes
This is completely wrong.
The transaction fee is set the by the person who makes the transaction. To be more precise, the transaction fee is the the total value of inputs minus the total value of outputs and it's the sender who decides on how much is paid a transaction fee.

Miners usually prioritize transactions based on their fee rate and they are free to even include transactions not paying any fee.
Nodes don't determine the transaction fee and it's not that they force people to pay certain amount of fee for their transactions. The only rule we have is that nodes don't relay transactions paying less than 1 sat/vbyte. Even that rule isn't a consensus rule and as I said miners can even include transactions paying zero fee.
680  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What wallet would you recommend? on: October 16, 2023, 12:24:46 PM
ave accounts at cripto.com, and shakepay, and they have their wallets, so should I use those, or are there other alternatives.
Cripto(dot)com? Do you mean crypto?
I have never used any of the services you mentioned, but I know both are custodial services.

As mentioned by _act_ above, you should always use non-custodial wallet for keeping your bitcoin.

In a non-custodial wallet, you have access to your private keys and you have full control over your fund.
In a custodial wallet/centralized exchange, your fund in controlled by a third party.
