681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: ~18 hours with recommended fee's, still no confirmation :( on: February 29, 2016, 06:37:52 PM
I've tried this but when bitcoin core starts the unconfirmed transactions are still in my transaction list?
I'm doing:
"C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -zapwallettex

it's -zapwallettxes. not -zapwallettex.
if that still doesn't work run it from the win+r or task manager.

btw make sure that the path is correct.
682  Other / Meta / Re: Change Theme on: February 29, 2016, 06:30:30 PM
I would like a simple theme very similar to this one. don't want it too dark as some other stuff posted on the forum will seem too bright, and people can hurt their eyes with dark themes if they switch tab (to other light themed sites.) too much. ofc having more options is good too.

Undecided Crap. Well I tried warning as soon as I received the PM from OgNasty

Edit: Not to rub salt on the wound but it'd be funny if the trolls said that the negative was given solely on suspicion

actually I think shorena successfully helped OP double spend the tx (using his node).
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Bitcoins Are Stuck - Unconfirmed After 20 Hours on: February 29, 2016, 06:06:30 PM
I wish I knew why mine were stuck.  Verified addresses, transaction fees, they should do right through.  But they have been stuck almost a day.

I imagine you have the same problem as everyone else. the tx fees is not high enough to get your tx through the currently flooding mempool. (btw I think you're kind of hijacking someone's thread.)
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to work out how much data your transaction will use? on: February 29, 2016, 05:27:10 PM
just found out that that thing I posted above is kind of outdated.
now it's
10 + {I*148} + {O*34} plus or minus 'I' = size. give or take few bytes.

source of that here. it's actually not that hard to understand.
687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to work out how much data your transaction will use? on: February 29, 2016, 04:54:06 PM
Can anyone explain how the transaction sizes are calculated? For example if i send 1million btc will this take up the whole 1mb? Im not quite sure how this is all calculated.

it's calculated from the number of input and output.
10 + {I*180} + {O*24} = tx size in byte. give or take few bytes.

edit:
there's a more technical explanation here.
688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why transactions are taking too long ? on: February 29, 2016, 04:49:50 PM
don't know about spam attack but there's an unusually high number of unconfirmed transaction right now. lots of them sends 1-10 satoshi per byte as fee. and the number of txes paying high fee are also a bit higher than usual.

maybe just a busy day.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how to get back the bitcoins if I fail to send ? on: February 29, 2016, 04:42:59 PM
Thanks a lot!

so do i need to back up the wallet before i backup?

and how can i use the command you mentioned?

thanks for the help!

regards,
ST

do this. or if you're using windows just create a shortcut, click properties, and add the command after the target directory (e.g "C:\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -zapwallettxes)
690  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin transaction wont confirm. What should I do? on: February 29, 2016, 04:40:12 PM
I have been researching the recommended fees and I guess what I used is half of that. I will be sure to use the standard fee next time, it just sucks that I might have to wait days now.

Do you think at this point it is more likely to eventually confirm, or the transaction be cancelled so I can resend it?

it is likely to get confirmed because of the high priority and a bit of fee.

You need to wait for a longer time until the input size od your transaction will be enough for those miners that accept low fee blocks.

the heck does that mean?
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Bitcoins Are Stuck - Unconfirmed After 20 Hours on: February 29, 2016, 04:26:41 PM
Well then, seems you got scammed by an escrow impersonator this time. Just FYI , OgNasty never tells you to send BTC to any other address than 168WXhArv7Fasqvi2xm5MQMfLhG18jifMe

Edit: Try double spending it as fast as possible to at least have a slim chance of getting your BTCs back

where did the part about OGnasty comes from?

edit:

-snip-
Ah right prolly confused you all
-snip-

ah. so that's what happened.

@OP
if this is true then you should double spend it and do it quick because the tx won't need to wait very long to get confirmed.
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how to get back the bitcoins if I fail to send ? on: February 29, 2016, 04:02:31 PM
stop re-broadcasting it and it'll be dropped by the network and returned to your wallet after all node stopped re-broadcasting it (should take one to three days.). core automatically re-broadcast your unconfirmed transactions so you'll need to get rid of them first by running core with -zapwallettxes command (or just enter it from the console.).
693  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1. April 2016 BIP: Block size decrease to 0.5MB on: February 29, 2016, 02:55:06 PM
who moved this to off-topic? is this real (proof?) or is it an early april fool's joke?
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: nothing is getting confirmed on: February 29, 2016, 02:39:24 PM
27K unconfirmed transactions and growing
that don't look good

is there no place you can just put in how much you want to send and be told how much fee to set to get it confirmed quickly ?
I have no idea how to judge that chart

bitcoin core/qt and electrum allows you to set the fee per KB (other wallet may have this feature too.). so if you set them to 0.0002 per kb and send a 512 byte tx the wallet will automatically set the fee to 0.0001.

and it looks like you're using a wallet that does this. only with .0001 per kb fee. not good enough when the mempool is flooding.
695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: nothing is getting confirmed on: February 29, 2016, 02:19:05 PM
if I understand you correctly your saying the early ones will go threw it will just take time
and the later ones wont go threw untill the earlier ones do ?

what kinda system should I be using to determine a good fee to set anyway

yes.
edit:

wait. no about the earlier ones (1st and 2nd.). they can go through, sure. but they have a higher chance of not going through at all and returns to the sender's wallet (that is if all node stops re-broadcasting them.).

I'd recommend to use this site to determine how many fee you should use. the numbers on the left [x-xx] is the fee per byte, and the meters are the number of current tx waiting in the mempool that used [x-xx] fee and the total tx since 24 hours (confirmed and unconfirmed.). and the delay and time is an estimation of how long a tx with [x-xx] fee will take to confirm.
in short, choose the one with 0-10 delay and 0-240 time. the lower the better (if you can afford it.)
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: nothing is getting confirmed on: February 29, 2016, 02:08:57 PM
1st tx have very low transaction fee compared to its size.
2nd tx same as 1st.
3rd tx have high priority but spends an input from 2nd tx. you'll have to wait for the 2nd to get confirmed first.
4th tx have high priority but spends an input from this unconfirmed tx. that tx spends an input from the 2nd tx.
5th tx have high priority spends an input from 4th tx.

in short, the source of your problem is the 1st and 2nd txes. and the rest of those transaction need to wait for the other unconfirmed txes starting from the 2nd to confirm.

congrats, cyrus. now we have a Global Ninja Mod in our midst. not sure what's with the ninja thing but congrats all the same.  Tongue
698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: ~18 hours with recommended fee's, still no confirmation :( on: February 29, 2016, 01:05:14 PM
Hi guys

I've tried this method https://blog.blockchain.com/2014/07/08/tutorial-how-to-rebroadcast-a-bitcoin-transaction/

but it just says the transaction already exists.
I have access to the wallet I sent these from (Bitcoin Core)

What else can be done? I really need these confirmed today Sad

you can only wait. that method you posted only works if blockchain.info or whatever service node you're pushing the tx to have dropped your tx.

or you can make the mempool drop that tx by stopping your core from re-broadcasting it and hope that the rest of the network will do the same. bitcoin core automatically re-broadcast your unconfirmed transaction after a while so you'll need to enter -zapwallettxes command from the console (back up your wallet.dat first!). doing that will remove every unconfirmed transaction that you have.
be aware that the btc will return to the sender's wallet if the mempool dropped the tx.
699  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen for the price when halving is ended? on: February 29, 2016, 12:54:45 PM
It's going to be tough for miners which I agree but this may have an affect the confirmation time as well. Will it happen that transactions would need a fee as big as 0.0010- 0.005 for confirmation?

I don't see any reason why this would happen. confirmation time shouldn't be affected by the halving and so is the tx fee.
700  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [2016-02-27] Why is my Bitcoin transaction not confirming? on: February 28, 2016, 11:19:38 PM
You won't get that transaction confirmed for ages, sending with 0 fees is never a good idea... You should definitely send with good fees next time you send BTC.

by ages you mean a while, right? that transaction is likely to get confirmed in a day or two because of the high priority.
