681  Local / Альтернативные криптовалюты / Re: SOLANA on: January 01, 2024, 08:19:50 PM
Smiley

Grin
Grin

https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2023/12/27/nigerian-banks-set-to-launch-compliant-naira-stablecoin-in-2024/
"Following the Central Bank of Nigeria's circular, a consortium of Nigerian banks, fintechs, and blockchain companies are developing a Naira stablecoin, cNGN, with sources close to the project stating a planned launch in 2024.

Naira Stablecoins
The concept of a Naira stablecoin has been floating around for several years, with previous attempts in the past. The most recent was NGNT by the Token Mint consortium in 2019, consisting of major Nigerian crypto exchanges and African communities, including Helicarrier and Busha. NGNT is pegged 1:1 with the Naira and is on the Binance Smart Chain and the Ethereum Network, as BEP-20 and ERC-20 tokens, respectively."

Random and clone were a poor choice of words.

Let's say that someone hashed something, a book, a phrase, a word, etc... and used that hash as a private key to generate an address. You happen to generate the same private key, in the same manner. If there is a balance on that address, and you have the key, do you own it? The mantra, "Not your keys, not your coin" comes to mind.
I would advise you to first read this article to talk about regenerating any private key. This is only possible in theory.

There are 2^256 private keys out there: how big is that number?

Or search for bitcoins on keys.lol, maybe you are a lucky person.

685  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Republic of Suriname is considering a national strategy with BTC on: December 30, 2023, 11:42:34 AM
But Bitcoin is designed so that each user stores coins in a non-custodial wallet.

Sure, but what's good for an individual person is not always suitable for a state or large organisation. It's hard to imagine that private key(s) to an entire nation's bitcoin investment would be held either by a single official or a group of officials (for multisig wallets). Government employees are not famous for being too security-focussed or for taking their roles seriously. They probably wouldn't want such responsibility anyway.
So, in this case, using a trusted, centralised service, with all the insurance etc, seems perfectly justified.
I think that the private keys will belong to a private company that wins the tender and will be very close to the state. The company will first pursue a very correct and open policy in order to attract many users, and then the conditions will worsen and the number of blockings will increase. This is one of the financial traps for citizens.
686  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Signature mixers question on: December 30, 2023, 11:32:58 AM
~snip~
In Russia there are no criminal penalties for people who open a bank account and sell their bank cards.
Such a set with a SIM card costs $50-100, but if you only withdraw cash from an ATM, then blocking can happen very quickly, after withdrawing 2-5 thousand dollars.

One member of the forum offers such "No KYC cards" at a price of around 1000 EUR per year of use, and it seems to be quite a lucrative business. Of course, there are some rules for using the card so that it would not be blocked. However, regardless of the fact that the sale of bank cards is not punishable in Russia, I wonder who is responsible if such a card is involved in a criminal offense - the owner of the card or the one who actually uses it?
If this bank card is involved in petty fraud or cash-out or a minor crime, then it all depends on what testimony the person who sells the bank card will give. If he says that he sold the card to an unknown person, hiding it in the specified place. And the reason was an acute financial need, and there was not enough money for food, then the seller will not have criminal and administrative liability, except for a red mark in the bank.

But if this bank card is involved in a serious crime, such as terrorism, extremism, then the seller may have very big problems, even a long criminal sentence. Such criminal cases are closed and classified, so it is difficult to say the exact result.
687  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Who owns the key? on: December 30, 2023, 11:13:16 AM
I've been reading a lot about the 1000 BTC bounty for cracking a range of private keys.
It made me think... Hypothetically, if some was able to crack a BTC address with key, Do they own the coin?

Been reading through the Bounty and had the good & evil pop up on my shoulder.
Beyond the ethical ramifications are there laws protecting you if someome randomly clones your private key?
How do you own a key?
I have studied some practice on stolen bitcoins and I think that if you are an ordinary user and your cryptocurrency is stolen using a phishing site, viros, deception on social networks and the like, then getting your coins back is practically impossible. The police will not return your coins because they will be spent quickly. Exchanges and projects prefer to pay bounty rewards to hackers from 5 to 20% and not contact the police.

689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MATIC or DOT? on: December 29, 2023, 01:41:52 PM
Hello,
Is MATIC better or DOT? Which one has better potential?

Thank you.
I have both of these assets, and it’s difficult for me to say which asset is better to invest in. Matic has less growth potential, but this ecosystem has already passed many tests and it will remain on the market. Porlkadot has a greater chance of price growth, but it has its own problems in an ecosystem where there is very little liquidity.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Starknet Airdrop Speculation on: December 29, 2023, 01:28:29 PM
https://community.starknet.io/t/cairo-v2-3-0-release-candidate/101137
"Cairo v2.3.0-rc0 11 was just released. Since there were only high-level upgrades (i.e., no Sierra changes), it is associated with Sierra v1.3.0 (same as Cairo v2.2.0) which is compatible with Starknet ≥0.12.1 (that is, it is supported on all Starknet environments).

This version focuses on the introduction of components, continuing in the direction set with Cairo v2.0.0. Components are a way to achieve extensibility - enriching my contract’s functionality (storage, events, and external functions) with a module that a third party wrote. Since components deserve their own treatment, we will only link to the dedicated post 25 here, and continue with other notable mentions in this version.

We encourage all devs to try out components while we’re in the release candidate phase and give early feedback, either here / github / or the Cairo discord."
691  Bitcoin / Legal / Some answers about Binance/CommEx on: December 29, 2023, 01:25:42 PM
https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1707293387001307551
"There will be crypto transfers between Binance & CommEx as users migrate with their funds. There are also older transactions during the testing phase of the integrations. This is expected.

A few ex-Binance CIS team members may join their team, or have already done so. We think that is a good thing.

Their design, APIs, etc are similar to Binance. We asked for this to ensure a smooth user experience.

CommEx does not service US or EU users. They have IP and KYC blocks. This is a term we asked for in the deal.

I am not their UBO, nor do I own any shares there. The deal does not have any buy back options. (A google search seem to show some businesses like Mercedes, McDonalds, Nissan have buy back options in their Russia sell off deal. This is not the case here.)"

___
I think that we will hear a lot more interesting things about this exchange. I'll keep the post СZ for now.
692  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Signature mixers question on: December 29, 2023, 01:12:21 PM
I use centralized exchanges without KYC, but I transfer a few coins there at a time so that I can answer any request: “Go to hell.”
Do you use those exchanges for fiat transfers? In that case they'll know your bank account details.
Not using. For P2P transfers, KYC is required, but for trading cryptocurrencies, KYC is not needed.

In Russia there are no criminal penalties for people who open a bank account and sell their bank cards.
Such a set with a SIM card costs $50-100, but if you only withdraw cash from an ATM, then blocking can happen very quickly, after withdrawing 2-5 thousand dollars.
693  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Republic of Suriname is considering a national strategy with BTC on: December 29, 2023, 01:02:10 PM
And yup, if they go for it, they'd likely use JAN3's centralised service, which should be way more convenient than storing private keys.
Well, I wrote this in the topic about El Salvador and am writing it here. In this way, you can even introduce moonstone into the payment system, because your assets will be in a centralized wallet, to which the government will have access.
But Bitcoin is designed so that each user stores coins in a non-custodial wallet.

Smiley

"Former U.S. President Donald Trump has sold 1,075 ETH, amounting to $2.4 million, from his non-fungible token (NFT) mugshot collections, according to Arkram Intelligence.

Trump’s NFT Cashout on Frenzy
In a recent development, an Ethereum wallet associated with former U.S. President Donald Trump has attracted attention for its substantial cryptocurrency activity, particularly in the sale of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

According to a December 27 post by the leading blockchain intelligence firm Arkham on X, there has been a noteworthy change in Trump’s cryptocurrency portfolio over the last three weeks, involving the liquidation of approximately $2.4 million worth of ETH."

Does Trump need a couple of million, or does he know that the market will turn around soon? In my opinion option 2 is correct Smiley

698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: December 28, 2023, 12:32:26 PM
Breaking news:

GRAYSCALE BITCOIN TRUST (BTC): BARRY E. SILBERT AND MARK MURPHY NOTIFIED OF THEIR RESIGNATION FROM BOARD OF GRAYSCALE INVESTMENTS - SEC FILING - RTRS

Still unclear the reason.
Not a good sign for me.
I think that all these events are happening due to the acceleration of approval of the spot BTC-ETF. GBTC also has an application with the SEC, and perhaps during the negotiations some people had to leave the company to speed up the process. But these are just my thoughts.
699  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Signature mixers question on: December 28, 2023, 12:02:57 PM
Have you ever encountered the compliance procedure of crypto exchanges?
Yes.

Quote
Do you know how many basic questions you will be asked at the beginning and how many additional ones?
I got one question. In short: "explain the origin".

Quote
This procedure can only be completed if the coins were purchased legally on a large exchange; in other cases this is very difficult to do.
It wasn't difficult, but it's annoying. I hate how governments force companies to spy on customers.
I use centralized exchanges without KYC, but I transfer a few coins there at a time so that I can answer any request: “Go to hell.”

You don't pay taxes until you "cash out" your bitcoins into the appropriate fiat currency.

So Bitcoin transactions don't have to be declared.

Deposits and withdrawals do have to be declared (i.e. how much BTC you bought and sold).
Don't you think that this is an intermediate stage?
If Bitcoin becomes a global cryptocurrency, then permits or licenses will be required for its storage, or citizens will be allowed to store Bitcoins only in custodial bank wallets.
