I been using the pictured Riser 2 since they were introduced. I throw the included SATA to PCIe power adapters away and connect a PCIe power cable directly to the riser board.

The included USB 3 cables seem to work ok, but I do need to order 2 longer cables per rig as they are kind of short when using them in 5 or 6 GPU rigs.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone tested the TB250-BTC Biostar? on: April 01, 2017, 01:45:53 AM
NewEgg had them for about a half of day, I had one in my cart and was specing out the rest of the order and it was sold out by the time I went to checkout. They did have a 1 per customer limit for the brief time it was listed, I suspect to maybe gauge interest. Seeing they sold out so fast, hoping they get more in soon.

683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining Algo using more than 4GB Vram. Does it exist? on: March 31, 2017, 01:40:02 AM
Thanks for all the info.

My current choice is between rx 470 8gb and rx 480 4gb, with the rx 470 being about 15 euro per piece more expensive.

rX 480 IS 7000 MHZ vram and rx 470 is 6700 (practicaly the same).

Do you have an opinion between the two?

I would go for the RX480 8 GB cards, which is what I was referring to in my above post. They are probably going to be more money yet, but in addition to the memory you will also have increased memory bandwidth (speed) which usually has a positive effect on hash-rate even for algorithms that do not need 8 GB. AMD has a new line coming out next month RX570/580's which are basically re-brands of the current versions, but it might drive down the price of the current generation.

-eworker did not fix the issue.

--edit--

-eworker rigname does work.  Can you please update the website to show this

Try this, different pool:

EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool us.mc.minecrypto.pro:7007 -ewal 0x16cbe7afd385e0c41efb0da2db084ffd9581723f -eworker 480RX192 -epsw x -ethi 8 -allcoins 1 -esm 0 -allpools 1
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] $MUSIC on: March 31, 2017, 12:05:35 AM
Hello team, I am trying to use claymore to connect but I am getting errors.  The command I am using is

EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool musicoin2.nomnom.technology:9999 -ewal 0x16cbe7afd385e0c41efb0da2db084ffd9581723f.480RX192 -epsw x -ethi 8 -allcoins 1 -esm 0 -allpools 1

I tried both pools

ETH: Authorization failed
: {"id":2,"jsonrpc":"2.0","result":null,"error":{"code":-1,"message":"Invalidlogin"}}
Stratum - reading socket failed 10038, disconnect
ETH: Job timeout, disconnect, retry in 20 sec...

The wallet address is a Musicoin wallet from Bittrex

Use:

EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool musicoin2.nomnom.technology:9999 -ewal 0x16cbe7afd385e0c41efb0da2db084ffd9581723f -eworker 480RX192 -epsw x -ethi 8 -allcoins 1 -esm 0 -allpools 1

add server location USA (New York) http://mc.minecrypto.pro Happy mining

Thanks for adding a US server. I switched a few of my rigs to your pool and will probably switch the rest over soon.
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Finally got my first rig on: March 29, 2017, 11:22:44 PM
Looking good. Have fun mineing Smiley What coin are you going to mine?
Think to start with eth, decred may be... then will see, I like to gamble

Eth might be a good horse to bet on. If ETH switches to pos there will be way less freshly created eth.

Plus even if PoS is delayed, they may cut the block reward to 3 or 4 (from 5) to offset the impact of the Ice Age delay. So in most scenarios being proposed, the daily amount of ETH being generated will soon be reduced.
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Miner noise on: March 29, 2017, 08:08:27 PM
I have

msi rx 480 8gb gamer very quiet
asus rx 480 8gb strix    quiet
asus rx 480 8gb dual    quiet
diamond rx 480 8gb     loud

panda miner b1 with 8 rx 480 4gb  louder but not as bad as the antminer s-5, s-7, s-9

Thanks for your input.
Would you say the gpus fall on the 50 db range?

http://www.industrialnoisecontrol.com

I would say the ones with larger dual fans are in the 50 db range if not pushed too hard, such as the MSI Gamer series. The ones based on the reference design with a single "blower" type fan will run closer to 60 and even 70 db under extreme conditions. Of course this all assumes an open air rig with appropriate spacing between GPUs and a somewhat reasonable ambient temperature.

Now BITS Bitstar is pumping. Might be a good bet to buy a few of anything with Bit in the name at this point. The world has gone crazy!
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitcoinPlus [XBC] Official Thread on: March 27, 2017, 11:06:25 PM
If it dips again to say around 0.05, I may buy in again and see how far the rocket take us. I don't know what the record 1 day profit for a coin is on Polo, but 3000% must be getting close.
691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitcoinPlus [XBC] Official Thread on: March 27, 2017, 10:54:55 PM
It may be a pump and dump, but holy sh*t, I bought it again once I seen it had more traction and cannot believe how high this thing is going. I have turned a 1 BTC investment into 5 today and could have turned it into 10 if I had the nerve to ride the whole thing up.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP! Strange Occurrence ruined all my rigs..... on: March 27, 2017, 08:53:50 PM
I agree with the others and would lean toward it being a PSU related problem and look there first.

Another thing you could try if you rule out the PSU is tear the rig completely apart and rebuild it piece by piece. Strip it down, leave the CPU in though as that can cause more trouble than it's worth, but do remove the battery from the motherboard for a minute or two to completely reset everything. Add back the RAM and re-seat all connectors, add only one GPU and wipe the drive and reinstall your OS. Install your drivers and mining program and test with one GPU by itself. If all looks fine add the others one by one. This way you can hopefully isolate the bad component(s).
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining Algo using more than 4GB Vram. Does it exist? on: March 27, 2017, 08:36:38 PM
ZERO requires a GPU with a minimum of 8GB to mine.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1796036.0

There will probably be more of these types of high memory requirement coins in the future and it probably is not a bad idea to grab 8GB cards if you can as they typically have faster memory and will usually retain a higher resale value.

I used to feel the sweet-spot was the 4 GB cards and indeed have many, but recently I have been buying more and more of the 8GB versions. I have no regrets buying the 4GB versions early on as most of them have now reached ROI and are still making money off Zcash, ETH and the many clones, but as I said earlier, I think the 8GB cards will be needed in the future for the newer coins.

mandatory upgrade: version 3.5.8.7

"After block 855000, clients enforce the mandatory upgrade."

https://github.com/gridcoin/Gridcoin-Research/releases/tag/3.5.8.7

So is this the reason the GRC wallet is disabled on Poloniex?
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitcoinPlus [XBC] Official Thread on: March 27, 2017, 07:38:32 PM
Za1n...maybe you and Elvis can start a band lol. Your conspiracies blow my mind.

XBC wallet has a staking feature that stakes your balance at 20% per year but you can also achieve compound interest as well by staking continuously like richlist #2 does. Smart. Watch those transactions and you will see what I mean. If you only open wallet once per year it stakes at 20% of your balance. If you leave open continuously it also stakes the stake hence compound interest.

So now it's a conspiracy for me to merely pointing out a pump and dump, lol. Price was pushed up (pump) and then sold off for profit (dump), what's so conspiracy about that? It happens all the time.

Any coin can P&D which XBC clearly did today. Also just as clearly BitcoinDark followed the same pattern, at least for the initial P&D. It just looks like XBC wanted to milk a few more dollars out of people and had a few more cycles up its sleeve.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitcoinPlus [XBC] Official Thread on: March 27, 2017, 05:43:32 PM
Your entitled to your thoughts but your just flat out wrong. There is plenty of XBC news and every reason in the world for XBC to finally take off.

XBC belongs with the big boys and it's happening. BTC, ETH, LTC, and XBC Smiley

Lol, ok.

I could see the pump forming on Polo this morning with the price action and hype talk and bought about a BTC's worth at 0.009, I sold a bit too early at 0.025 but I am still happy. I will take my profit now and wait for the next pump somewhere else as I think XBC is going down for now. It might get one or two more mini P&D's but I think the big play is over.

Curiously, this must have been a coordinated event with BitcoinDark as the chart action was almost identical. Oh well, I learned a long time ago to not be too greedy when I spot these shenanigans and just scoop up the easy profits and move on.
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitcoinPlus [XBC] Official Thread on: March 27, 2017, 05:03:47 PM
If you call a million plus in last 3 hours a pump and dump your wrong. Watch and learn. XBC is finally getting its day.

Classic pump and dump.

No news, flat-lined for basically weeks, than out of nowhere huge volume and 900% rise in price, yeah tell me again how it's not a P&D...
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Definitive list 1151 board supporting 6+ GPU and low power Kaby Lake CPUS on: March 22, 2017, 06:16:41 PM
So for what the $450 the board you link costs, plus $50 for CPU and another $50 for memory, $550 total (low cost miner build components) you could build 3X the typical boards.

3X Biostar TB85 ($65 ea) $195

Except you can't because the Booster TB85 is out of stock at Amazon and NewEgg.  Which is not surprising since it's 2 generations old at this point.

That's the purpose of this thread-- to find Z170 or Z270 boards that can drive 6GPUs.

If you read my whole post at the bottom I did say I thought the thread was a good idea as replacements are indeed needed. Also I mentioned the drying up of the 1150 series processor which will probably be the bigger death blow to the old school builds.

I just do not think we all need to praise $450 board nominations as that replacement though, at that price it is totally nonviable for a mining rig. The comparison I made was to show what ballpark the new board should ideally be in to compared with builds we are used to.

So once some nominations start appearing that are sub $100, or at least under $150, then we can all cheer and move on. The upcoming Biostar TB250 may be a start depending upon its retail price, but from the looks of it I am sure it will be closer to the $100 range than $450. http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=865
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI Radeon™ RX 470 Gaming, 4GB GDDR5, 256-bit on: March 22, 2017, 05:13:21 PM
They are a good card, go ahead and get them before you lose your discount. With ETH, ETC, and related clones currently returning around $2/GPU per day, the time for mining is now as I am sure this ratio will slowly drop back down to only around $1 or less return per card in a month or so.
700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much AC BTU's needed for mining? on: March 20, 2017, 10:17:57 PM
Its roughly 3.41 BTU per watt, so assuming you have a 500 watt total draw (measured at the wall) for the system you would be generating an extra 1,705 BTU/hr in heat. Simply use the AC room size recommendations and get one 2,000 BTU watt higher using this example. Here is a AC sizing guide for various room sizes: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/what-size-air-conditioner-do-i-need-191400

So say you have 600 sq ft of apartment space to cool down, they recommend a 14,000 BTU unit. Then add your mining overhead to this using 3.41 watts/BTU mentioned earlier, so using the 500 watt system example, you would want something in the 16,000 BTU range. Also make note of that sites recommendations if your apartment gets a lot of sun, or if it will have additional people, as these factors will also add additional capacity requirements.
