Has it actually raised 1 million dollars? Really?

Oh dear.

I guess it actually raised 9000 btc, no actual dollars. You can look at the history over on mpex.co
723  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin on MTGOX? on: July 20, 2013, 02:46:56 PM
Hi.

I'm fairly new so forgive me if this is a repeat question.

My friend told me that Litecoin would be coming to MTGOX in July.

Does anyone know if this is still happening.

Has there been any news? Or can anyone point me at news articles on this that cite reliable sources.

Does anyone know if they will be upgrading their trading system at the same time as the litecoin lunch and are there still any plans to include Namecoin?

Thanks all.

Why would you want to trade anything on MtGox? they do not allow people to take money out, they have a ton of legal troubles, they are probably going the way of the dodo soon, I would look at other exchanges instead.

I don't think there has been any official news on it in awhile. Last I recall, they announced sometime in July on their facebook page. But that was before they had issues with wires and USD withdraws. And did they acquire Satoshi Dice, or was that just a rumor/joke?

That was definitely a joke.
724  Economy / Speculation / Re: I believe the price has nowhere to go but down and here's why I think so. on: July 20, 2013, 02:45:27 PM
I see a buildup up buy orders as I write this, but the price is kind of stationary yet.
There is one guy with a 1,000 BTC buy order, he places it then withdraws it, with no chance to really buy.
Now he firmly placed it at 91.8 where he should be able to buy.
At this moment, a 10k dump would drive the price down to 88. Juicy target...

which exchange are you looking at? Does this type of analysis have any meaning for longer term price movements?
725  Economy / Securities / Re: S.MG - The Ministry of Games. on: July 20, 2013, 02:39:44 PM
I had some interest in learning about MG because I'm a gamer, investor, etc.. but after reading this entire thread it's clear to me that this is no investment. There's no experience to speak of, no real plan that I can see and MP comes across as the biggest douche on the internet. Get over yourself dude, you might learn a thing or two.

It's mind blowing MG has been able to raise any sort of funds. The community really needs to be a lot more diligent.

They did not only raise a bunch of money (roughly equivalent to 1 million USD), but the share price has roughly doubled since the IPO. So I guess the people with money disagree with you.

Another thing that annoys me about Apple products: when I import mp3 files off my recorder or pictures off my camera and delete the originals, they go to the trash bin and still take up space on the device. So I thought I had cleared off my memory and was ready to get a bunch of time recording, but then it stopped after a couple minutes, totally ruined my recording of my wife's recital because the memory card was full. Later I found out I had to clear the trash bin, but recording that moment was missed. Not sure if it is apples fault, but they seem like a good person to blame.
727  Economy / Speculation / Re: I believe the price has nowhere to go but down and here's why I think so. on: July 20, 2013, 01:31:26 PM
It doesn't matter what things cost in the past, just what they will cost in the future. Past performance does not gurantee future results.

Then why all the talk about Bitcoin's past performance?  No one is arguing that investing in Bitcoin turned out well for people in the past.  As you correctly pointed out, that doesn't begin to begin to imply that investing in Bitcoin is smart *now*.

If you make an estimate of what the future price of bitcoin will be, then it might still make sense to buy bitcoins. Saying "They went up 10x every year in the past" is not a valid argument. Saying "They will be about the current price later" makes them a valid savings instrument, saying "They will grow another 10x because of such and such reasoning" makes them a valid investment instrument.
728  Economy / Speculation / Re: I believe the price has nowhere to go but down and here's why I think so. on: July 20, 2013, 12:54:19 PM
We're out of suckers.

We don't need suckers, just people who understand the benefits of using bitcoins.

By the same token that your weak-minded friend was impressed that "a bitcoin" is "worth more than the dollar", we have idiots on CNBC saying things like "it's crazy that people are actually willing to pay $100 for just one of these bitcoin things". WTF!! Why can't people understand divisibility and percentages?

Don't be part of the problem!
Actually its more like why pay 100 Dollars for something that someone payed 1 Cent for three years ago?

Or worse why pay someone 100 Dollars for something that they bought for 1 Cent three years ago?
Of course that does only makes sense if you think there is someone who will pay you 10,000 Dollars in another three years.

Don't you be part of the problem.

It doesn't matter what things cost in the past, just what they will cost in the future. Past performance does not gurantee future results.
729  Economy / Securities / Re: S.MG - The Ministry of Games. on: July 20, 2013, 12:28:51 PM
Nah, I've no interest in getting into an argument about this.

I didn't imagine you were. Basically you're just here in the hopes of being taken seriously/at your word on the grounds of just so. It won't happen. See here.

I hope the gaming industry will stop luring businessmen such as him, because they really hurt the industry as a whole :/

Dude. Shut the fuck up about "the industry". On this Internet everyone knows you're a dog, you have no business with "the industry".

The TAT passthrough is cheap enough on Havelock.

If/Once you get over yourself you'll probably find your way to the assets chan, where you can join the actual movers and shakers laughing at at all the clueless noobs thinking that.

And the above responses demonstrate everything you should need to know.

I thought the response was great. It addressed the concerns raised in a direct and concise manner.
730  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 19, 2013, 05:44:36 PM
there was a whale pushing it down yesterday.  I watched the big buy order at 4.611 for 350+ shares go through almost all at once.  So, someone wanted to put the price back down closer to 4.5, yesterday.

Another big someone was buying a bunch a bit before, trying to hit 4.9.

So, it was just whales fucking.

^ This..  Cheesy

There was a >600 bid wall which was finished by the above mentioned 350+ shares sell.

Edit: could also be someone with a huge stack of coins and shares who just wanted to sell and buy back lower. Wall set up to drive the price higher, sell into the wall, to induce a selloff. But half of it got eaten before.. hmm.. well. Wild speculation only, I guess.

Can you actually sell into your own wall on btct or will it just remove the bids that you are trying to sell into?

Yes.  Awhile ago a decent spread between buy and sell orders showed up and I was trying to place one on both to see if I could flip some stock.  I put the sell order up and then when putting my buy order up forgot to enter my 2FA key.  This caused the buy order value to default to the current sell value (mine) and I didn't notice, so I placed my buy order, and btct.co happily bought and sold my listing(s) out of my own shares for a small fee.

I like to think of it as tipping Burnside, rather than me being a dolt.  And I managed to actually pull off the flip after relisting careful, so still came out ahead.

I once made a fat finger mistake, put up a buy order and then put up a sell order but accidentally added an extra zero and sold to myself.
731  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] What will be the bottom? on: July 19, 2013, 04:20:56 PM
lol true Tongue

edit: But i garantee you that I will find some friends to buy all the BTC at 0.01$ if that ever happens Wink

I doubt that.

I would buy all the bitcoin for 0.01 USD, send me 21 million bitcoins and I will hand you a penny.
732  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Ukyo.Loan - Paying 0.05% daily. on: July 19, 2013, 02:01:07 PM
It sounds more profitable than other bonds or stocks like AM etc.
How many shares are you going to issue?when?

How come it become more profitable than AM? get AM price multiply by 0.0005 and x 7 days, AM dividend still higher.

I don't know about AM, but to compare you have to multiply by 1.0005^7 (assuming reinvestment of dividends) for maximum profitability.  That's .35% in a week.  In a year that's 20% returns.

Last I checked, AsicMiner was giving about 0.5 % per week in dividends. That may go down as more power is added to the mining network.

733  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: THE TRUTH: Can someone withdraw fiat money from MTGOX? on: July 19, 2013, 12:42:28 AM
The answer is no.

/thread

Why would anybody still be using MtGox? Cut your losses, take your money out as bitcoin before they stop allowing bitcoin withdrawals as well.

I see there was a dividend, 1428 sat/share yesterday. Have we already started making income? I thought we were still working on getting the first house purchased?
735  Economy / Securities / Re: Accounting for the nonzero asset corporation. The MPEx standard. on: July 18, 2013, 02:28:27 PM
account 1

Dollars are not particularly liquid and certainly not cash. They're at best account 2, soon to move to 3 I imagine, unless them people get their shit together presto. By the same token a car is not liquid. So if what you meant is, "I'll take this accounting system and apply it as if the USD was a unit of account" then I guess you did it right.

I guess that depends on what sorts of arrangements you have made for conversion of USD to BTC. I see no reason why you could not have set up with other parties a quick conversion route? The quickest route would be to hand people cash and have them send you btc, but if that is not reasonable then if they trust you enough then once you initiate the USD transfer they could send the btc right away.

account 3

In the perspective where "you" are a company that somehow got a college diploma, yes.

right, I was trying to think of something applicable to me which would be an example of this category, and that is the first thing that came to mind.
736  Economy / Securities / Re: [bitfunder] RentalStarter - A Midwest Real Estate Investment Company on: July 18, 2013, 02:15:33 PM
Given the area, T&I shouldn't be over $30-40/mo on a house in that area...Very minimal.

Whoa, are you sure you have that right? Taxes everywhere I have lived have been at least 10x that. I guess you just have very low property taxes in your area?
737  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] S.DICE / S.MPOE / S.BBET Pass-throughs on: July 18, 2013, 02:12:08 PM
Crap. I had been feeling uneasy about S.Dice lately, so I had all my shares listed for sale. Somebody bought them all up at the closing announcement, it would have been nice if the orderbook could have been cleared before that happened, I would have listed them a bit higher. I know it is not your fault, it is EVorhees's fault, and I still made profit off the shares overall, but it owuld have been nice to get 25% more for them than I did.  Sad
738  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BTC-BOND - 0.03% Daily on: July 18, 2013, 01:59:30 PM
Bump.

Anyone? Would like to get the remaining bonds sold.

Now that Deprived has opened his bond paying 60% more than yours on btct, it will be hard to get people to buy your bond.

There's much more to it than yield. Frankly, offering such a high rate is the only way Deprived can compete with an issue like BTC-BOND. Namworld has been around a lot longer than Deprived. He has a lot more under management, and runs a serious productive business vs. a bunch of churning investment funds. Compare their contracts -- although I presume it is unlikely, it is clearly more likely that Deprived asset will blow up. And Deprived is very clear about where the liability lies (with the shareholders). I.E. Deprived will not pay you back (he is very clear about this in his contract). These are all justifications for offering a higher rate of return. It's likely the only way he can issue debt given his recent negative publicity.

There is a lot that would have to go wrong before BTC-BOND doesn't pay back. I for one have relied on BTC-BOND for years to provide a reasonably safe place to store 20-30% of my capital. When I ask myself, is it logical for me to assign the same level of credibility to Deprived, I have to say "no". That is why Deprived is offering more money. Because it's the only way he can compete with BTC-BOND.

I was not saying that btc-bond was a bad investment, just that the typical bitcoin investor who barely glances at the surface of investments would jump on a higher yield bond first. I agree that Namworld has been very consistent with this.

Another month, still no word
740  Economy / Securities / Re: Accounting for the nonzero asset corporation. The MPEx standard. on: July 17, 2013, 07:44:03 PM
Just to make sure I understand:

account 1 (cash) would include things like: USD, bitcoins, and 10 shares of S.Dice
account 2 (tangibles) would include things like: a house, a car, 1000000 shares of S.Dice
account 3 (intangibles) would include things like: my college diploma - I paid a bunch to get it and it is definitely worth something since it helps me get a job, but there is no way for me to sell it.
