721  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [ANN] breadwallet, first bitcoin network client for iOS, first BIP32 SPV client on: December 03, 2015, 04:02:39 AM
Hey, so I've been using this wallet for a while, but I had a question... If I wanted to ensure faster confirmation times, and wanted to set a higher transaction fee myself, how can I do this? I was trying to find where you could in the app with no luck... any help will be greatly appreciated.
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (POLL) Which wallet do you think is best with the best features? on: December 03, 2015, 01:31:47 AM
Hello :-)

Why would you choose breadwallet over mycelium? does it have any extra features that make it much better?

Cheers

If you're looking for a good mobile wallet to use, I personally love using breadwallet. The main selling point for me is that it is able to connect directly to the blockchain and can see in real time how many peers are confirming your transactions and when exactly if it's confirmed.  If you think that a transaction has been lost, you can always rescan the blockchain on their, which makes me feel a little bit more secure when transacting money around.  Plus it allows finger print scanning to quickly access your wallet, which is always a plus too.

I've never personally used Mycelium, though I hear it gives you access to your private keys which you can write on a piece of paper and store away; just like with breadwallet... but I'm not quite sure if Mycelium connects directly with the blockchain, which is why I've always stuck with breadwallet.  It's just my personal preference, I've heard a lot of users on this forum like Mycelium too; I think both are very good mobile wallets, I just tend to stick with bread because of the "if it isn't broke, you might as well not fix it" mentality I've got going on.
723  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: December 03, 2015, 01:21:43 AM
Let's put this scenario on the board though just for giggles:

Central banks collapse along with fiat... what happens next? How do we place a value to our bitcoins? Personally, I think the answer is simple, in that it will be priced in terms of gold itself.

Before the governments dropped the gold standard on fiat, ever note the government issued was a note saying you can redeem this note for X amount of gold. I think that's where cryptos are going to be heading in the future.

726  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will this bitcoin will go down? on: December 02, 2015, 09:20:28 PM
I have 900 ready to buy 3 coins and hoping it gets to $300 if it keeps at this level soon I may have to get less and pull the trigger.

I'm trying to get 10+ coins before halving with just spending mad money like ebay cash when I sell something random around the house.

If it gets over $400 before jan 1st and I cant get all the coins I want I will be happy but also sad that I didnt get more at 300.

Yeah, I'm hoping it goes back down to $300 too before the halving... but I personally don't see this happening, nor will it ever go sub $300 ever again.  I don't have a lot of extra spending money either unfortunately. If only you could pay your bills and stuff with bitcoin then I would be good to go to automatically convert my paychecks to bitcoin when I get them, but I don't think this will happen for some time.

Edit: What kind of things have you been selling on Ebay exactly?  I'm starting to try and find some stuff to sell, but not quite sure where to start looking.  I've never even tried to sell anything on Ebay, and would assume they use Paypal for payments... doesn't this take a large cut of what you receive in payments?
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: paypal or bitcoin? on: December 02, 2015, 09:14:23 PM
Paypal, IMO, is terrible when regarding the charges that cost the customer if they agree to pay the fee to the business, or the other way around when the business accepts that it will lose some of that money when accepting over Paypal.

It's not only about the convenience of the transaction times or the charges that bitcoin or paypal issues upon any given transaction... Bitcoin is a revolutionary currency where there is only a fixed amount of coins that will never exceed 21 Million.  This is obviously a lot different from fiat, and because Paypal just transfers fiat digitally, makes it a lot different from Paypal.
728  Economy / Gambling / Re: Viet's Sports Picks and Discussion on: December 02, 2015, 09:07:47 PM
Just curious as to what sports you tend to bet on the most?  If I do gamble on sports at all it will be on American Football, Hockey, Baseball, and the occasional golf tournament every now and then (some of those bets tend to get ridiculously high odds which is a good thing if you know who you are betting on).
He stated his preffered sports before: " All the sports I bet on are American leagues. NBA, NFL, MLB, NCAAF and NCAAB."

@Viet - by 'professional' I meant people who are deeply interested in sports betting, not necessarily pro gamblers and bettors who  live from this alone.
For me it betting not even hobby, it is more like occasional thrill of semi random betting.

Oh wow, totally skipped over that post he made... just was going by the OP, and thought he left out what he would be betting on.  Any who, look forward to following your picks and see if you can make a name for your self on here. I'll have to check up on what your posting and get some tips Smiley
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: December 02, 2015, 09:05:10 PM
Poker is the best form of gambling.  There are not many in this thread who seem to favor that above the other games that have a house edge.  In poker, one has the option to fold hands with a negative expected outcome or bet on it and take a "gamble."  If one were to fold every hand with a negative expected outcome and bet on every hand with a positive expected outcome, they would win in the long run....just like the casinos do!

You have to consider though, that in poker you still have to factor in bluffing tactics... this is a little harder playing online than in real life to actually watch the person you are trying to bluff or calling their bluff, but can still be done online no matter what by placing a huge raise to the pot when you don't have anything that would win.  It's not just about folding when you think you are going to lose.
730  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC reach $500 during december? on: December 02, 2015, 08:35:06 PM
Lets just stop saying number because at the end we will just jinx it and the speculation is not good.
So lets just watch wat will happen.

Haha, well I mean isn't that the whole point of speculating in the first place? To speculate what price it will rise too on a given day/week/month/year?  I'm not very superstitious, but I get I see what you mean if you are... I would not look at this thread if you have that sort of mentality that if people are too bullish in thinking that it will go the other way.
731  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitDice Player Just Won 500BTC on: December 02, 2015, 08:32:42 PM
So it looks to me that the person who gambled this just set it on autoroll at 64BTC's and doubles it upon losses... JESUS CHRIST! How can someone have that much balls? That's a lot of money floating around.  Not to mention trusting a dice site with that much bitcoin on hand is insane.

733  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which btc debit card to use? on: December 01, 2015, 04:52:12 AM
What do you guys think of the new coin base card that has just come out, "Shift"? It uses Visa and seems pretty legit, the only thing I worry about these type of cards are that they seem less secure being that your funds are held on an online wallet.
734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for a living or a living for Gambling? on: December 01, 2015, 04:25:25 AM
If any one gamble for living or living for gambling then they we be in a deep shit of problems because no one can win money from these gambling for long time. Unless some one gambling for time pass or just for fun for some times then that should be Ok but if any on take it as a profession then most likely they will end up in a deep shit. I usually bet on sports some times.

I like this post a lot. Trying to beat out a house edge is always mathematically impossible to do in the long run betting scheme. Just knowing when to stop if you hit a good run is supposed to be the "fun" and "thrilling" part of it. And yeah, sports betting just makes you enjoy a game a little bit more than you would if you haven't.
735  Economy / Services / Re: ********Bill Pay Service********** fast and efficient! on: December 01, 2015, 04:21:05 AM
So basically you're charging people a fee for going and buying a gift card? Seems like anyone can do that themselves.

Better yet, he's basically charging a fee to cash out some one else's bitcoins to pay for any type of bill... Which could be easily done by cashing out your bitcoins on any exchange site and just deposit fiat into said persons bank account themselves... This post just seems a little too suspicious for me.
736  Other / Off-topic / Re: The craziest shit you can buy with bitcoins right now? on: December 01, 2015, 04:18:22 AM
I haven't got mine yet, but looking into getting a Bitcoin debit card so I can buy whatever I want, which is funded with the bitcoins I have... I'm going to wait to look more into this when the price goes up, so I'm personally going to be waiting for a little while, maybe when the halving comes.
737  Economy / Marketplace / Re: idea for online bitcoin shops on: December 01, 2015, 04:08:51 AM
I feel like this kind of idea would work only for online shops, and not in real life obviously because when you buy a cup of coffee you would want it now. So if an online business accepts this idea then they could place an order and then when the btc/usd price hits your target the process will be complete and the good/service will be delivered too you.

Then again, it might not work because businesses usually have to meet a quota on selling said good and if you decide to cancel the order ir the price is never reached, then the business and customer will lose.
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal vs Bitcoin Comparison of online payment methods on: November 28, 2015, 07:08:11 AM
it's simple.

If you need money for the real world then paypal. If you aren't in the USA and want to make money then use BTC to avoid huge fees.

That's the big idea with Bitcoin vs. PayPal transactions is the fees that PayPal collects. If I was the head guy in charge of what PayPal is doing, I would immediately start drastically cutting down the fees, because there are other alternatives now that people can start avoiding these fees.
739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Any advantages from gambling? on: November 27, 2015, 09:23:15 PM
I like the fun factor. Going out with friends sometimes just visit a casino get some drinks, make a little bets and enjoy yourself.

The ambiance is nice, people are happy and smiling and everybody is getting their little kick of the day.

What's better then enjoying yourself with your friends right?

Yeah, this is quite nice when you gamble in real life... People who slave away at dice sites while also sucking the teets of the faucets all day long and wasting life away is not advantageous at all.  If you have a rainy day and some extra coin you want to gamble, by all means thats fine, but people who sit online and watch their bank roll disappear online is not the way to go.  You just have to make sure you have the time/extra coinage to gamble.
740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Bethesda Create Bitcoin? What Are The Three Towers? Relevance Of 9/11? on: November 27, 2015, 08:15:11 PM
So I'm confused... if there was some sort of conspiracy with Fall Out, and that the people who made the game is mainly a distraction for nerds to not realize what's going on in the "crypto" scene (At least that's what I'm getting so far), then what does the release of Fall Out 4 entail?
