Under linux OS like smos and hiveos I get 27-28 Mh for 280x. There is only one tweak in the config that I've made under Ubuntu and that is the set parameters for the virtual memory. The only drawback is the power - around 180-200W vs. 90W for 1060 which get 23 Mh.

Are You talkkng about R9 280x 3GB ? I have few of them and my max is 12.6 MH/s
usung 5.3c + Windows 10  + driver 20.4.x

https://prnt.sc/vu5tjq

Do You think that on linux is chance to get more ?

Yes, under linux 280x 3Gb Tahiti get 26-28 Mh/s with ETC. I also have rare 280x with 6Gb Vram, which get 26-28 Mh with ETH. Hawaii and tahiti work with half of their hash under Windows.

Tonight phoenix stopped working with hawaii and tahiti for ETH, but at least for my tahiti cards lolminer is working well. For some strange reason for hawaii lolminer is working on half of my cards with 20 Mh instead of 30, and it can't load DAG on the other half, although they are 8Gb. Gminer recognizes them and is hashing with 30 Mh, but with no shares. So I am sticking with phoenix mining ETC for hawaii, until developers compile new kernels for these cards to mine ETH again. Regarding rx cards, some of them hanged during the epoch change last night, but after a restart they all worked again.

Edit. I am also curious if the devs can exploit the adobe premiere opencl bug and make double threads for mining ETH with  amd 6800 with hash >80 Mh/s. I guess it will be possible to make this for all types of MB and CPU's, if they figure out how adobe by accident can do it. And if they can make triple threads for these 16 Gb cards for ETH, the better: 3x40=120 Mh for 150W-ish, would be perfect Smiley

Even with -clkernel 0, hawaii 8gb and tahiti 6gb stopped working with eth. The error: Allocating buffers failed with: clCreateBuffer (-61). Linux drivers amd18.20r5.2.6

such a shame my 7950 is only managing 11MH on ETC while this dude on youtube pulling 20+MH with 3GB 1060's ,i guess the old GCN's need a custom kernel / tweaking or something

Could someone post a screenshot of bitcoinity NEW All time high sign? I was jumping around my room and forgot to take a screenshot. For 3 years I've dreamed for this sing to return.
Listening ACDC "For those about to rock we salut you" now Smiley

Nvm, I somehow managed to take the shot of this flashing sign Smiley Geez, I am in shock. For 3 years I watched shitty prices and asked myself how many years I'll have to wait for this. I just couldn't believe my eyes, I cried a bit. Ok, now, I'm preparing myself to see prices above 100K next year.

Meanwhile it set a new ATH at 19864!

And it is already in the news:

i really donno why you are struggling with windows os when is so simple on linux distros, and there's still no issue with the 4gb dag size at this point
just try it, make an USB, and let it run for a day, than you'll see the difference on your example
you have nothing to lose

And how long you have no problems with your 4gb cards on linux? right around 1 month. So why i should change my OS to linux for 4 weeks? right senseless.

Windows is more userfriendly, Windows is stable as Linux, Windows use less electricity and there are much more things. It is a religion question, but i can´t hear this fucking linux guy´s anymore: "linux is the best, stupid windows, we can´t stop windows updates" and so on  Roll Eyes

And by the way i use windows and linux.

For older cards it is impossible to get high speed under windows. For example with 390 you get 17 Mh, with 280x 9Mh. The problem is that with the increase of the dag file, windows drivers can't handle this well. There are multiple plug and play OS using linux kernels. Some of them are free, others have 2-3$ cost per month. With them I get 30Mh for 390 and 28 Mh for 280x.

Regarding the new cards. I used to have windows 10 rigs for 3-4 years. First of all, it takes several days, if not weeks to install everything and tune the cards. I had so many problems with crashes that damaged windows files, not to mention the updates, which for the most part can be turned off, but it is another week of wasted time digging into the registry and finding the right tool with google. And one day the windows of one of my rigs died completely. I had ssd which shouldn't get bad sectors, but there were some serious mistakes on the boot and system files that no tool available could repair. I lost several days trying to recover windows with no luck. In the past I've recovered the system may be 10 times but not this time. Then I decided to look for linux based system. Found smos, read about it for 1 hour, installed on a flash for 15 mins, put it in the rig and voilà! It worked! Then I needed only 15 mins to OC the cards and boost them with the tools of this OS. So I switched all my rigs to smos. I have also rigs with HiveOs - somewhat more complicated but free for one rig on any pool, or for several rigs if mining on hiveos pool.

These OS are regularly updated and you have all available miners to test, while it will take much longer to find them googling. So it is not only about the 1 month extra time for 4Gb cards. Although it matters a lot for those who make (tens or hundreds of) thousands per month, since eth is over 2x more profitable than the rest coins after the etc fork. And of course with the browser I have complete control of the rigs and the cards. I can flash their bioses with ease, etc... There is just no reason to mine with windows, unless one has the newest cards and for some reason it can't be tuned with the existing linux OS's. (I know also about ethos, raveos and others but I haven't tried them all.)
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.3b: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: November 29, 2020, 06:45:14 PM

You got to be kidding! With 4Gb you can mine ETC and some obscure coins that are normally not profitable. At the moment ETH is about 2,5 times more profitable than ETC. And most 4GB cars still mine ETH. What do think happens to ETC profitability when no one is able to run their 4GB cards on ETH?

I don't think the part in bold is accurate.  ETC by my looking at it is same or maybe just a few % more profitable than ETH.
And I don't think you know how to check the current profitability. You are looking on default 24h whattomine. I wonder how many "miners" don't know there is the current profitability option. Probably a lot, since the profit now is 2.5 times less for ETC and the projection is to fall more for the next 24 hours. And obviously they believe they will get profits equal to mining ETH. LOL Not gonna happen unless they switch off their 3gb cards or move to another coin. The hashrate today increased from 3.7 Th to 6.3 and then decreased to 5.6 Th. Well, at least some know about the current profitability option... but not all obviously  Grin Grin Grin

very frustated to run phoenixminer, while last use other miner.
i get error: Allocating buffers failed with clCreatedBuffers (-61)

https://i.ibb.co/8KcdKX6/error.jpg

i use 3X RX480 8Gb + 2X R9 390 8Gb
running on nicehash using bat file

can someone tell me about this error and how to solve it.
thank you

I also have 390's and got some serious troubles with them.
1. On Windows the hash dropped by 50% a long time ago due to drivers issue. There is no workaround for that known to me. And who would like to mine at 17 Mh with a power consumption 220-250W (at best with undervolted bios)?
2. On linux based OS with Claymore everything is fine, cards mine with 30 Mh/s, but the miner will stop working in a few weeks.
3. Practically every other miner I've tried - ethminer, nbminer, gminer and lolminer, half of the cards are not hashing under linux based OS. If someone has the patience and skills to run with Ubuntu 14 and Amd drivers 17, it may work at the end. But I prefer plug and play OS like smos or hiveos.
4. The only miner that can support different kernels is phoenixminer. With parameters -clKernel 0 -clNew 0 (i.e. the generic kernels) all cards are hashing, BUT, as the developer commented a few pages back, the stale shares are too many. If I mine with the default intensity they go over 20%. If I lower the intensity -mi 7, they drop to 10%, but still not good. For example, with Claymore I have the full 30 Mh with less than 1% stale shares. May be even below 0.1%.
5. For some reason smos and hiveos are crashing on start when I run a mixed rig with 390 cards and rx cards. Tomorrow I will try 390's with nvidia 1060 under hiveos, but I have no high hopes for this to work either.

Good morning WO! I see a lil weak hand shake out happened during the night. Traders must have their cut off losses, this is part of the game. I guess some of them are selling in expectation of some 2017 style correction like 30-40% from the last top. But this time it is different. The big institutional buyers are leading the charge. This never happened before in the history of Bitcoin. They are not looking for short terms profits not to mention cut losses. And indeed in the last 8 months we had only one noticeable correction of 20%. It remains to be seen if this tendency will continue. So far 10%.  Roll Eyes

You guys with windows do know that 4GB gpu will work at full hash with no -daglim under linux based systems (like smos, hiveos, etc.) until the end of December, right?

738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v15.0 (Windows/Linux) on: November 23, 2020, 12:30:28 PM

if you havent increased virtual memory in windows, i think you can get this error.

i think i had like 32 gigs VM but its been a while so check this thread the numbers are here.

I have 40Gb VM on the two rigs that has stopped and 32Gb on one of the 3 that's still running so that can't be the issue

Only the card on my computer under Windows is using the straps from Claymore with another miner, so this will be the only use of Claymore henceforth.

You quit Claymore manually at some point and then start Phoenix or some miner? Do you have to pause Claymore or stop it at a certain point to make it work?
Yes, I can either press 0 to disable the gpu and then start Phoenix. The timings are remembered until I close Claymore's windows. Or, I can run Claymore with non mineable coin like ETC and now ETH and then start phoenix.
739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v15.0 (Windows/Linux) on: November 23, 2020, 12:08:49 PM
I thought I screwed up my Claymore but it is obvious that it is no longer working even with 8Gb gpus for other people as well. I am glad that I've managed to switch to another miner just yesterday. Now all my cards are working fine. Only the card on my computer under Windows is using the straps from Claymore with another miner, so this will be the only use of Claymore henceforth. Good bye good old Claymore! You are like Old Shatterhand in the wild crypto west  Grin
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.1c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: November 22, 2020, 01:46:50 PM
I am not a developer and wish I was. I have been mining since 2016. I would have had this miner well tested before deployment. I cannot comprehend to you the number of issues I have run into the latest Phoenix miner, DAG level, and Polaris cards when running large scale GPU farms. I manage and own a few, all running Windows Server with proper data center infrastructure management in place. It's as if Phoenix miner has only focused on development for Vega and Navi GPUs, but forgotten about Polaris as the DAG has limit increased. All of my Navi based rigs are fine for the most part. I manage many. Yes Claymore should be getting just as much backlash for not at all providing support but he is not available for commentary. Phoenix has been here and known about this encroaching issue. Please do something about this. We rely no stability.

I test the new version with -vmr 85
I am at 33.900Mhs

PH: 5.2e
amd driver 20.11.2

If you put rxboost (or vmr) too high you will have memory errors and the real hash will be half of what the miner shows. You have to check always the stats of the pool. It is good to use some memory errors tool or just watch the screen. If you see artifacts (like small blinking dots), you are above the possibility of the memory. For me, I can use like -rxboost 1 with the best hash on the pool without memory errors. It gives 32.4 Mh/s with moded timings (rx 580 8Gb).

Config:
RX580 !Nitro+ SE @8Go it's good card for mining
-cclock 1250
-mclock 2250
-cvddc 890
-mvddc 890

i see with HWINFO X64 = 0 error or artifacts
You shoud've started that you have nitro+. Because I get 33+Mh with the usual 580 with rxboost 50 or bigger, but the real hasrate is half of it. You should check the pool for the real hash. With nitro you should be able to reach 35.2 Mh with -rxboost 1, although the power consumption will be much higher than the normal 32.2 Mh. From the wall it is like 180 vs 110 Watts, so you add 70W for 3 Mh, which is quite ineffective.
