Friends, help me, I'm new to mining.
I want to buy AMD 5700 XT for ETH mining.
This is a good investment for mining: Phoenix Miner / 5700 XT ?
Yes, this is a very good card for ETH mining. But it will pay off faster - 5600 XT

Thanks! I'll go study the 5600 XT. + it is cheaper, it is very good!

Tnx for the update. Will the switch come automatically after reaching epoch #390?
Will the switch come automatically after reaching epoch #390?
That's the plan. We ran simulated test on the fork epoch switching many times but a real test is not possible ahead of time. If you start getting incorrect shares after the switch, restart your miner. We will be monitoring the switch and will promptly release new version if there are any problems.

Hello PhoenixMiner

I am trying bench mode on ETC to test my RX580 4G, but RAM size seams still too low

My bat command :
Code:
PhoenixMiner.exe -bench 400 -coin ETC

And I only get 1MH/s

Is my command wrong ?

Thanks
After the switch, the epoch will be 195 instead of 390, so in your case you should test with:
Code:
PhoenixMiner.exe -bench 200 -coin ETC
The new ETCHash epochs will also be twice as long, so the speed of DAG increase for the future epochs will be lowered in half. In general, the 4GB cards should last for about 4 more years when mining ETC.

you should bench on the ETC test net
No, the test network fork happened on block 2520000 (epoch 82), so you can't mine on it with PhoenixMiner 5.3b, which must work both before and after the fork on the main ETC network.

Does 5.2e is ready for ETC Thanos hardfork?
No, you have to use PhoenixMiner 5.3b.

even with 5.3b no more ETH mining is available on 4GB card right now
yes?
am i right or something wrong with my rigs?
we have to wait for ETC update or is there any better way?
The fork will happen on epoch 390 (which will be numbered 195 after the fork). Until then, you still need over 4GB to mine ETC. The fork will happen in less than 24 hours now.

Every of my RX 580 8Gb drop in hashrate by ~3 Mh on epochs over ~380 on 5.1c.
If you are using drivers newer than 20.4.2, you need to upgrade to PhoenixMiner 5.2e or later, otherwise, you will get only incorrect shares when the DAG becomes more than 3.95-4GB. There is small decrease in hashrate when the DAG epoch becomes over 3.95-4GB because of they way the bigger DAG buffer is addressed but it's nowhere near 3 MH/s. Here are example results from our tests:
Code:
RX570 8GB  epoch 365 28.678MH/s  85W
RX570 8GB  epoch 376 28.676MH/s  85W
RX570 8GB  epoch 387 28.603MH/s  87W
RX570 8GB  epoch 450 28.606MH/s  87W

Hi! Can I mine ETC on RX470 (4GB)?
You can with 5.2e but the hashrate will be quite low (6-8 MH/s under Windows, about 20-24 MH/s under Linux). In less than 24 hours however, when the ETC fork happens, you can mine with the normal hashrate for yoru card(s) but only with PhoenixMiner 5.3b or later version.

IMPORTANT! In less than 24 hours, the Ethereum Classic (ETC) network will switch to a modified version of ethash, called ETCHash. If you are mining ETC you need to upgrade to PhoenixMiner 5.3b or later version to continue mining after Nov 28, 2020.

After the fork, the DAG epoch will become 195 instead of 390, with corresponding "shrinking" of the DAG buffer to about 2.5 GB. With this DAG size you will be able to mine with 3GB and 4GB cards without problems. After that, each DAG epoch on the ETC network will be twice as long, so the DAG size will grow with half the speed as before. As a result, it will be possible to mine ETC with 4GB cards for about 4 more years.

On ETC block 11700000 the fork will happen automatically, as long as you are running PhoenixMiner 5.3b.  We ran simulated tests on the fork epoch switching many times but a real test is not possible ahead of time. If you start getting incorrect shares after the switch, restart your miner. We will be monitoring the fork and will promptly release new version if there are any problems.

I began to understand and came across what many people recommend 5500 XT.
So what's better? 5500 5600 XT or XT?

i want to continue to mine eth with my 8 and etc with my 4gb.
how do i turn off the 4gb?
i understand i will need to run to instances of the miner.

You can use the -gpus 1 command in the .bat file and phoenix miner will ignore the 2nd GPU

You can also do -nvidia to have only NVIDIA cards mining, And -amd for only AMD cards

-gpus <123 ..n> Use only the specified GPUs (if more than 10, separate the indexes with comma)

@zeef

can you explain how to run always bat file with admin righs? if I run it manually (right click than "run as admin") with admin rights than rxboost is aplayed but if it runs from startup folder that it isnt with admin rights Sad win10

You set Phoenixminer.exe to run as admin, then when the bat file goes to run the exe, it runs as admin

i use 3X RX480 8Gb + 2X R9 390 8Gb
running on nicehash using bat file

can someone tell me about this error and how to solve it.

I also have 390's and got some serious troubles with them.
1. On Windows the hash dropped by 50% a long time ago due to drivers issue. There is no workaround for that known to me. And who would like to mine at 17 Mh with a power consumption 220-250W (at best with undervolted bios)?
2. On linux based OS with Claymore everything is fine, cards mine with 30 Mh/s, but the miner will stop working in a few weeks.
3. Practically every other miner I've tried - ethminer, nbminer, gminer and lolminer, half of the cards are not hashing under linux based OS. If someone has the patience and skills to run with Ubuntu 14 and Amd drivers 17, it may work at the end. But I prefer plug and play OS like smos or hiveos.
4. The only miner that can support different kernels is phoenixminer. With parameters -clKernel 0 -clNew 0 (i.e. the generic kernels) all cards are hashing, BUT, as the developer commented a few pages back, the stale shares are too many. If I mine with the default intensity they go over 20%. If I lower the intensity -mi 7, they drop to 10%, but still not good. For example, with Claymore I have the full 30 Mh with less than 1% stale shares. May be even below 0.1%.
5. For some reason smos and hiveos are crashing on start when I run a mixed rig with 390 cards and rx cards. Tomorrow I will try 390's with nvidia 1060 under hiveos, but I have no high hopes for this to work either.
