721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: May 22, 2020, 05:28:38 PM
Okay guys, here is a hand and how would you progress when you will have such hand?

~img snip~

In the pre-flop I gone with BB and then in the flop I think I gone with pot amount or called the guy khaleddj, really can not remember but in the turn what would you do?
I will tell mine after listening some of you although it's very much assumable
However keep in mind that in poker you will have better hands always from the other guy.
I have the screenshot of the next turn and how we ended but let's hear all of you first

I see you are already very much into the game so it is do or die position for you. With Full House on turn, I will surely going 'all-in' on this hand. There are very less possibilities to lose from there. Let me count, if other guy is holding AA, KK, QQ, JJ, A10, K10 or 22, only then the other guy has a chance to win if river turns out to be one of A, K, J or 2. Else you are winning this hand. Possibility of that happening is 1 in 1611. Either you have won this hand, or SwC has the most rigged random generator or stars are absolutely not with you.

Not a good day for me. Players were playing extra defensively and I was enjoying that. Won 50-60 hands and increased my chips to 22K.

But then came a player from other table with 8K chips. He was going all in on every second hand. I controlled my urge for some time, even folded AKs. But after few hands, it had become impossible to resist him. At last I callled this all in with 10-10 pocket pair. He was holding 88 pocket pair and 8 was dealt on flop. He won the hand and it's understandable that I didn't have much advantage with 10-10 against 8-8. But then came the worst part, he was still going all in on every second or third hand. Then I got AA and he raised all-in in pre flop. I thought it was good time to get my chips back and I called his all-in bet. Can you guess, he was calling all-in with 78o!! But do you believe what happened next? 8 was dealt among flop cards (I was like ok, not this time, I have AA against 88) but then river was another 8.

So a guy took all my chips in two hands that I stacked in over 100 hands with 88 vs 1010 and 78o vs AA. Winning both times with three of kind (8 ).

Ok you mean if we get the free lance income in bitcoins then if i convert to any other cryptos and that cryptos conveted to INR later will be treated as normal bracket right i mean we no need to pay capital gains rather we should pay regular taxes on the income right......?

Please update this line in your FAQ's there are many people having this doubt that they are thinking that it is also treated as capital gains but it is treated as normal tax as you said i request to please update the FAQ's thanks!

Thanks!

Right! I have updated FAQ, here is the excerpt of the same:

Q3. I have received freelancing income in Bitcoin and then I bought altcoins with bitcoin. Later I sold altcoins for profit, how should I treat my income in return?
Ans. Theoretically, you have made two taxable events - one when you received income in bitcoin and second when you sold altcoins for profit. But due to anonymous nature of cryptocurrency, you can treat all transactions as single taxable event and pay tax on the final amount withdrawn to bank as per normal tax slab. I'd like to ask another question. Any particular reason for using mongodb over sql? (mysql, postgre)

One reason was this:
Hi Dave,
We are getting numerous SQL Injection attacks everyday. Although site is adequately secured against such attacks but everytime someone tries this hack attempt, it alters the content of user.ini file and turn on the error_reporting. I have to manually turn it off.
I am not a big fan of PHP+SQL. That's why we are shifting our assets to node.js based application and now we are building new database in MongoDB.

But the most important reason is that I only know MongoDB because that is what I learnt with Node.js. Cheesy I know some basics of SQL but not sure if I can manage it on my own in production. I have to be dependent on someone. While with MongoDB, I can completely assure maxima security of database. Not to ignore the fact that MongoDB is really cool db system and comes with amazing GUI software - MongoDB Compass which is completely free.

What I am going to do with this, is I am first going to understand it in js then I'll try to port it to python. May never succeed but I'll try. (invested so much time in python, can't just dump it away like a shitcoin)

Actually I made a bitcoin related tool following this method too. Just the process was reverse, I coded thing in JS taking help from Python code.

So currently me with support from 2 developers are trying to create unique  casino games that aren't available on any other gambling site right now. I can't disclose everything right now but if everything goes as we planned, we will launch something big soon.

I already have my game ready and now shifting its backend from PHP to node.js. Let's see how it goes.

LoL you didn't code this in 4 hours. You didn't do it by yourself neither. It took you months and you took help from 2 devs.

Damn I was too impressed much too quickly.

You still deserved the merits for sharing the code though. It will serve me great while learning js.

You also said:
we will launch something big soon.
I guess that something big isn't coming.

You really think I will need the help of 2 devs and 2 months to code a single page dice game and call it what 'unique'? What you have read was written by me in reference to DogeDraw. I was part of the project which was started as a dogecoin lottery but didn't work out. Then we bent on to work on something big and better. So we have created a platform with 8 multiplayer games and one unique table mode which none other crypto gambling site provide at the moment. However, due to some differences I left the project last month and I am no longer the part of the team. They are planning to launch the site next month and most probably I will be the one who will create ANN and Signature campaign for them on Bitcointalk. But it will just be a paid job and I won't officially be the team member.

As far as this script is concerned. This is truly and purely my work. I written the whole script in just 4 hours - models, routers, controllers, views, everything I typed manually man! Give me some credit.  Cheesy

726  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Free open-source Dice Script with Chat Box (Provably Fair) with Admin Panel on: May 17, 2020, 08:42:59 PM
Did you have any background as a software developer before this* or you learned all these after DS suggested it? If you managed to learn all these by yourself in 8 months I'd say that's impressive af.

*I understand that's your hobby but what I wonder is, did you know anything (js, html, css etc) at all before August 2019 or you started from zero?

I am learning python maybe a bit longer than that but I feel like I am wasting time with it while javascript is already there and ready, you know. Probably shoulda switch to js asap.

I know HTML and CSS since I was 14 years old but I never learnt any programming language before DS's suggestion. It was only after he suggested about JS and Node.js that I took courses for both separately. First I took Node.js course and watched quick YouTube video to understand basics of JS before starting but it didn't help much. So I paused the course and took detailed JS course. Once I finished that, I resumed Node.js course and perfected both.

727  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Free open-source Dice Script with Chat Box (Provably Fair) with Admin Panel on: May 17, 2020, 08:10:38 PM
Well done @webtricks, am really impressed!
Since the script is mainly for testing purposes, it would be better if you make it accessible without registration just to make things easier.
Also, why not using a nonce instead of changing the server sees for each roll!
Are you going to add auto-bets?
I would suggest to add an address for donations if anyone wants to help with server costs.

Thanks Khaled.

I have made server seeds unique to each account so it is not possible to set up that system without logging in.

I agree it's better to keep changing nonce rather than server seed if player doesn't change the client seed but the system I implemented generates server seed synchronously so the new seed is shown to player almost instantly hence it doesn't affect site performance in any way. So it is better to let player have new set of seeds for every game if I can make that happen without affecting performance.

Auto-bets can be done. Not much difficult and maybe half an hour work. Will add to the script in free time.

Also, I don't care about server costs tbh, lol. I do web development as a sheer hobby. Professionally, I am employed in financial field. But tech attracts me so I learn things online. Do you know where it all started? Here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5180284.msg52315553#msg52315553

Darstar_ suggested me to learn Javascript and Node.js to go on with gambling site development and took the suggestion really serious, lol.

I have big hosting plan and it can sustain all of my sites with even 100 times the traffic I am receiving right now. So no problem.

Installation Guide for Windows

Setting Up the Database - MongoDB Setup

Step 1: Download the MongoDB Community Server from here: https://www.mongodb.com/download-center/community. Select 'ZIP' from 'Package' option.

Step 2: Once downloaded, extract the folder to somewhere permanent, for example in Local Disk (C:).

Step 3: The name of the folder will be something like this: 'mongodb-win32-x86_64-2012plus-4.2.6'. Rename it to something similar like 'mongodb'.

Step 4: Now create a new folder in the same location where you have extracted folder in previous step (Not inside previous folder but in the exact location i.e. Local Disk (C:). This folder will be used to save database so name it something like 'mongodb-data'.

Step 5: Now head over to your command prompt. Run this command:

Code:
C:/mongodb/bin/mongod.exe --dbpath=/mongodb-data

Note that the command starts with the location of your folder followed by folder name and then /bin/mongod.exe command. Then provide space for --dbpath flag. Don't provide space after '=' and your database path should start immediately after equals to. You don't have to mention root folder i.e. C:\ in dbpath. So if your database folder is in Users folder which is located in C:\ then your dbpath shall be: --dbpath=/Users/mongodb-data.

Step 6: Console will output lots of data once you but somewhere 8-9 lines from bottom, you will see this output:

If you see this command then your database has been setup accurately and you are ready to run your dice script now.

Dice Script Setup

Step 1: Open new command prompt window. Don't stop the function in first window or close the first window else mongodb running on your system will stop.

Step 2: If git is installed on your system then run this command in second window:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/web-tricks/dice

Else head to https://github.com/web-tricks/dice and download the code in ZIP format and extract where ever you want.

Step 3: Once github is done cloning or you have extracted folder on your computer, open folder in your command prompt. If you clone using command above, you simply have to write 'cd dice' to enter dice folder.

Step 4: Once you enter the dice folder, run 'npm install' command to install all packages needed for the script to run.

Step 5: Once all packages have been installed (it will take 1-2 minutes max), run 'npm run dev' command to run the script locally on your system.

Step 4: If you see the message 'Listening on 3000', it means you have correctly set up the script. The message will be something like this:

Now head to your browser and open: localhost:3000 and you will see the local implementation of your script. Any other doubt, do ask in this thread. Thanks!

729  Local / India / Re: People pay your Taxes - 2.0 on: May 17, 2020, 08:13:47 AM

Now let us say I'am free lancer i have paid $5000 in btc next i have converted it to other coins like eth

and sold and converted it to inr which one should i show the price for it returns i mean i should show $5000..?

And also does converter also treated as trader or investor.......?

Thanks!

If I am understanding correctly then you are saying that you received $5000 as your freelancing fees and then you invested that income in other coin, say ETH, right? Now read the details below carefully. I hope it will help you.

See in this situation, theoretically there are two taxable events arising:

  • First when you received freelancer payment, you made the income of $5000 hence tax is payable on $5000.
  • Second when you bought ETH, you are now investing as an investor. Imagine you sold ETH for $5500. So any profit you made over and above $5000 i.e. $500 will be taxable as capital gains.

This should be correct taxable treatment for your case:
  • Suppose exchange rate was $1 = ₹78  on the day when you received freelancer payment. Hence, your income will be 5000*78 = ₹3,90,000. So tax as per normal bracket is payable on ₹3,90,000
  • Suppose exchange rate was $1 = ₹75 when you finally sold the ETH. Hence, your profit on investment will be (5500*75) - (5000*78) = ₹22,500. So tax as per capital gains is payable on ₹22,500.

The above treatment I described is as per normal currency i.e. fiat currency i.e. INR or USD. However, we are dealing here with more complex issue i.e. cryptocurrency. So overall, we can eliminate first taxable event if we like as we are dealing in cryptocurrencies. Consider the following two situations:

Number One: You receive $5000 worth BTC in private wallet (such as MyCelium or Electrum) and then you send BTC to Crypto-to-Crypto Exchange where you haven't done KYC like Binance. Then you exchange ETH to BTC on Binance. Finally, you send those ETH to exchange like WazirX and convert those to INR.

Number Two: You receive $5000 worth BTC in Exchange wallet like WazirX directly. There you convert BTC to ETH and keep ETH on WazirX as well. Finally you sell ETH on WazirX for INR.

Now note: In case of 'Number Two' situation, you have to follow the treatment I described in first half of my post. You should consider your whole trade as two taxable events because you have done KYC with WazirX and they have record of your all transactions. But in case of 'Number One' situation, your first taxable event is completely anonymous so rather than showing whole trade as two taxable events, you can simply show the final conversion i.e. selling ETH for INR as you income and pay tax as per normal bracket on 5500*75 = ₹4,12,500. No need to show capital gain transaction at all.

I hope it clears most of your doubts.

732  Local / India / Re: People pay your Taxes - 2.0 on: May 16, 2020, 07:40:26 PM
~~snip~~

But what about taxes on conversions.......?

I mean if sold btc for tether i mean i hold coins like stable coins is those taxable or only income tranfered to the bank is taxable......?

I have another doubt if i brought btc for $5000 sold btc and hold some usd coins for example btc sold for $3000 and converted to usdt and hold stable coins for 6 months.

And brought btc for $4000 and sold for $20000 and which  brought price should i show should i show $4000 or $5000....?

Thanks!

Hey Vijay,
Thanks for your questions.

You don't have to pay taxes if you sold BTC for Tether (USDT). USDT also comes under the bracket of cryptocurrencies. Only income which you withdraw to bank is taxable.

For second question, it's up to you. Generally crypto-to-crypto transactions are not traceable so if you did crypto/crypto trade on exchange where you haven't done KYC and it is separate exchange from the one where you convert crypto to INR then you can consider $5000 as your purchase value and pay tax on Sell Amount less $5000. Alternatively, it is up to you if you wanna show two transactions. One bought for $5000 and sold for $3000. Other bought for $4000 and sold for $20000. But since second buying is not from your bank, I would advise you to go with first option and show whole trade as single transaction.
733  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Signature campaigns and some discussion about seo on: May 16, 2020, 12:51:29 PM
Generally speaking, does Google cares about backlinks and Pagerank any longer? I don't think so. Backlinks were extensively used in Google's former algorithm - Pagerank to determine the importance and quality of webpage. But currently just having backlinks from high-traffic websites won't guarantee first page Google listing. In fact, there is higher chance that your article on such high-traffic websites will appear before your actual site. For example: ANN Thread on Bitcointalk appearing before home page of your website.

I am not active in SEO niche from last 2-3 years so I don't have any idea if having link on Bitcointalk will help in Google Search but I think it will if your website is purely bitcoin related because Bitcointalk links have high domain authority on Google in Bitcoin niche.
734  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blockchain lottery? How does it work? on: May 15, 2020, 04:30:51 PM
Seems like the interest in the technology helps a lot of new Lotteries to rise with Blockchain technology, accepting Crypto players only.
Some of them are using in wallet betting, but most are just operators, Lotteries, accepting all Crypto players and open to the decentralized technology.

I believe that Blockchain lotteries are another great example of Blockchain implementation on the road to mass adoption because the fairness of the games its wide availability  and the way the auto distribute of funds

My question is that, how can blockchain technology guarantee fairness of the lottery games?
I don't think blockchain adds anything significant when it comes to generating true randomness. In blockchain, we hash set of data to produce hashes but it is easily possible to guess the hashes if we know which data going to be hashed.

I would say, not blockchain technology but cryptocurrencies do help in maintaining decentralization of lottery up to certain degree. Let say creating smart contract which will pay to the winner among certain set of ETH Addresses on particular day. But even in that case we have to define event on whose basis result will be drawn and there is no element of randomness if everyone knows how hash gonna drawn out.
735  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Free open-source Dice Script with Chat Box (Provably Fair) with Admin Panel on: May 15, 2020, 12:53:31 PM
As promised, Admin Panel has been added to the script. It can be accessed at site.com/admin.

Sneak Peek:

Features added to Admin Panel at this moment:
  • View Total Number of users registered on site.
  • View list containing usernames of all registered users on site.
  • Edit email, balance and password of any registered user
  • Modify the role of any user to 'admin' from 'member'
  • View bets made by a particular user

I thought it would be bad idea to open admin panel for everyone on main implementation so I created side-implementation of the script on http://dummy.webtricks.website. Use these login details to access admin panel:

website: http://dummy.webtricks.website
username: admin
password: admin123
after login visit: http://dummy.webtricks.website/admin or click 'Admin Panel' from top

Do tell me if anyone wanna see anything else on script, I will add more features in coming days.

I would need a little detailed installation guide, i really want to run the dice on the web and im having trouble, thanks

No Problem! I will create detailed guide on how to run this script on local machine in this thead after few hours. Stay tuned!
736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What does bitcoin blockchain look like? on: May 14, 2020, 01:55:28 PM
Does it look like cloud storage or something?

Let me make it simple for you. So bitcoin blockchain is nothing but 277GB data containing records of every transaction ever happened on Bitcoin Network since its inception. Now your question is where is it stored, right? So the good news is that anyone can store Bitcoin's blockchain on any device he/she wants. To do so, person needs to run full node. As he does so, whole Bitcoin's blockchain will get downloaded on his system and he will be connected to Bitcoin Network and can independently verify transactions. I don't have exact numbers but last I remember is that 47K nodes are presently running. So you can say up-to date Bitcoin data is present on 47K systems currently. It can be laptop, CPU, computers or even Raspberry Pi.

Does it look like cloud storage or something?
Decentralization is a key thing bitcoin brought to the world and changed it entirely.

Cloud storage is a centralized one but bitcoin is decentralized.

This is a very fundamental between cloud storage and bitcoin blockchain. You can lose your data that is stored on any cloud storage but you won't lose it if it is stored on bitcoin blockchain after 1 month. No one can delete such data on bitcoin blockchain.

Not exactly! Cloud Storage doesn't define centralization or decentralization. It is just a medium to store your data. Only difference is that you are storing your data on someone else's system. It is very much possible to run bitcoin node and store data on cloud. You can buy storage space on cloud services like 'Digital Ocean' and save blockchain there. It doesn't make any difference. Storing blockchain on cloud doesn't make it centralized as far as someone else is also having complete record on his system and can independently verify transactions.

Nice, job, I would like to run it, but I would need info on where is the admin pannel (if there is one) and

I haven't made admin panel but can add one with some decent features. It will take me around 2 hours to code one I think. Done! I will add admin panel functionality tomorrow, let's make this the most complete free Crypto Gambling Script available online!

if its possible to configure on windows and run on web server. thanks!

Yes! You can surely configure it on windows. Just make sure you have node.js installed on your system. Follow the guide written in README file and it will work just fine on your system. You can make those command with Windows' Command Prompt too.

(I am giving away 500 BTC to everyone just for signing up so go on give it a try).  Cheesy
I'm getting a hint that the 500 BTC is virtual for testing purposes and can't be withdrawn, so maybe you should clarify that in your post.

If someone thinks I am going to give $4.5M to every person who signs up then such person deserves to be misled. Not to forget the big laughing face at the end of the line.
738  Economy / Gambling / Re: #2 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: May 13, 2020, 01:22:39 PM
I was going through the last 2-3 pages of this thread and sensed some negative vibes among members. It looks like we have lost the main purpose of these tournaments - 'fun', right? Compare the posts from these 8 pages with 40 from first series and you will find how charismatic everyone was sounding in previous series. But here we are discussing about the late registration problem, how some members are just playing to make to championship, how some members knowingly sit out, how some members play defensively to make point and what not! It seems like the purpose has been shift from 'fun' to 'money' and that's why I think we are seeing the drop of 30-40% participants.

Well, I can tell personally for myself that I don't care about any of the above. For me member may come at the first minute or the last, use whatever strategy he can, I have paid over 0.01 BTC to play these series so far just because I enjoy playing and keep on doing so until I am enjoying. So please everybody let's keep these issues aside and let's not think too much and play with peaceful mind.

77 people have registered already, and probably there will be around 150 in the end. Now all of us who have read about the bounty consider ourselves bounty hunters.

Only one thing needs clarification, in my opinion. I personally believe that the player we want eliminate is called steve, and I regret not calling his all-in with my poker A2o in one of the previous games(after all, the chance of sitting with him at one table and him going all-in at the same time is very slim). But then I realized there was another player called SteveBitcoinTalk in the same tournament.

So, my question is who's head the bounty is on, steve or SteveBitcoinTalk?

It's SteveBitcointalk.
