I doubt this should be on the meta board. I was thinking about Serious discussion or Ivory Tower (ignoring bitcoin discussions, we all know spammers will take over the topic) then I thought to try with meta hoping I will have some decent traffic. If mod decides anything else then they are welcome to move the topic or the community can advise me the suitable board, I will move it.
I am a cricket fan and I was watching Asia cup yesterday. At the prize giving ceremony I had this crazy random idea in mind to help and spread the Bitcoin. They were giving $5000 to the man of the match. I was thinking - how about the price money in Bitcoin(?) At this kind of events, instead of dollar currency how about a company/individual comes up and award the price in Bitcoin? Think about it for the following events: Football World Cup Football Leagues (English premier league, Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League etc.) Cricket World Cup Cricket tournaments (Asia cup, Ashes, IPL etc.) Olympic Forget about these big events. In you local area, how about we start with sponsoring 100$ in bitcoin for any sports event?

If you have a domain then you may know that you will need hosting as well to host the files of your website.
Normally a decent shared hosting cost around $10/month meaning $120 year. I get it that when you first sign up with any hosting provider they will give you 50% or 60% or even 70% discount! Some will provide you hosting for only $1 dollar. They do it just to hook you. Once the offer ends then you will end up paying the regular price and often time for one website which does not have much traffic - you end up paying over $100 a year very easily.i.eHostgatorThe regular price - Hatchling Plan: $6.95/month = $83.40/year - Baby Plan: $9.95/month = $119.40/year - Business Plan: $14.95/month = $179.4/year GoDaddyThe regular price - Starter: $2.49/month = $29.88/year - Economy: $7.99/month = $95.88/year - Deluxe: $10.99/month = $131.88/year - Ultimate: $16.99/month = $203.88/year Question is how much resources do you use? For a website which does not have much traffic, much contents you are basically wasting all the resources you were provided but paying the full price.
I have hosting for my website which has - Unlimited bandwidth - Unlimited domain hosting - Unlimited database - etc.
By the way, there are no SSL though
If you have a domain but do not have hosting then you are welcome to use my leftover hosting resources. All you need to do is to point the domain to the hosting from your DNS manager. Then ask me to install the wordpress for you.
I am thinking of paying me only $15 a year for this service in Bitcoin?
PS: You may have trust issue by seeing the two red tag under my belt. In that case, I am sorry that I can not prove you the future like the DTs who tagged me to show interest on the 20BTC escrow however I can assure you that I value my image on this forum and I will provide you 100% satisfied service.

Enjoy your Full member rank For the first time I gave out 3 merit (my last bit again) in one transaction I guess By the way - you deserved it.

I was playing with alexa ranking and thought to see the stats for BitcoinTalk. This is what I found. Notice the graph is for last one year. The pick was from February - March and since then the graph started to drop. Till date it is standing on the lowest for the entire year. It's obvious that the site started to get it's peak when bitcoin price was having it's ATH. However dropping the traffic could have two possible reasons. 1. The bitcoin price started to drop so visitors started to lose interest on bitcoinTalk I doubt it though. 2. The new merit system introduced on Jan 24th. I will kinda back this up. Personally, I do not mind to kick out 100 (i.e) spammers to have 1 good forum member. If the traffic drop is for the 2nd reason then we should not worry about it. Now, about the youTube channel - since theymos said... ...this might be a good way of attracting good new users...
If we check the traffic which are coming from social media then we will see the percentage is only 4.66% and YouTube is leading with 46.93% In summary I think we need to improve the forum experience instead of worrying about forum traffic. Thoughts?
PS: I was worried though when I spotted the alexa graph before having any deep thoughts.

Can you go through his posts and let me know as what was plagiarized ?.Also, acc to him, even if he mentioned a quote or something from article ,he did give a link to it.
There you go! It is plagiarism :
Archive for reference.Tell your friend that justice has been served. Since you are new to the forum, take this as an example and do not do plagiarism ever or you will have the same fate like your friend. PS: A ban account is not allowed to create another account meaning if you ever caught on plagiarism then you can not create anymore accounts with bitcoinTalk. PPS: I am guessing your friend is your friend not you.

Other boards except marketplace do not have anything to do with trust system. You need to see someones trust system if you want to trade with them. I added a trust system to the marketplace sections. When you're logged in, you'll now see something like this next to Marketplace posts: Trust: 1: -0 / +12(3) Here were some basic guidelines... On feedback pages, you can leave trade feedback. There are no rules for this, but here are some guidelines: - List all of the trades that you do with people (or at least the major ones). This is not like #bitcoin-otc where you give people just one score. - Do not rate people based on the quality of their posts. - Older ratings count for more, so don't delete old ratings if you can avoid it. - "Risked BTC" is how much money you could have lost if the person you're rating had turned out to be a scammer. Or, if they are a scammer, it's how much you lost. Use the BTC value at the time of reporting. - It's OK to post a rating about the person in general, not tied to a specific trade. - If you want to make a rating stronger, increase "Risked BTC". 50 extra risked BTC is equivalent to an additional rating. So clearly trust system introduced to help the traders on the forum.

Report to the moderator. On the comment section write a short note that they are abusing (if they really are) the system and advice to ban them (if possible). Mods will take care of it. You can not expect mods to have their eyes on everything. After all they are human too like you and me.

I think it would be productive for Meta to have a sub-board for banned account help threads. Not only would this free a part of the Meta index, but linking to it from Theymos's welcome message could make a nice warning for new members.
We have talked about it several times in past without any success. Here is one I can recall Re: Sub/Child board for Account Issues Seems like even the community did not have much interest on that topic.
Update: Here is another one: Subforum for account ban request

None of the moderators help in solving such problems. Honestly, I already despaired of returning my account. And I do not want to develop a new account any more because I'm not sure that it will not be stolen either. The forum does not protect its people and does not develop protection.
Oh boy I really hope someday theymos hear you lot. I am seeing your hard and soul try since last 3 months and this should be embarrassing for theymos. Come on! Seriously - you do not have 5 to 10 minutes to look into an account? How many requests do you have? 50? 100? 200? If you take half an hour only two days in a week will this damage your entire schedule for the week? These people deserve to get their accounts back. It should be their property.

Oh well, I suppose we will soon see a Pump and Dump Smerit Telegram channel. Or Buyer will realize, in the long term...
Should we HODL or sell some (?) since the merit market is having bull run I guess
I think anyone caught doing this should be immediately banned to ever posting here.
The unofficial rule says... Can I sell merit?
Selling merit is disallowed. Meaning there are no clear direction however DTs will tag though.

If you want to change the whole layout then that's going to be a problem, of course, but a minor one You just need to include the link in the theme files. That's what I was talking about Other day I did the same for a module and it was pretty boring for me. I needed to change the same code in several places. I can't remember all the file names though. Anything is doable but if we start saying "no" to everything and treat it as if it's heart surgery, nothing will get done around here. Oops! Did I sound negative? In that case, excuse me please. I see 87% of people would like to see a dark theme here so, the "ball" is in theymos' court. There are so many balls in theymos' court that he is puzzled with everything except the recent changes on merit requirement and stuffs By the way, I almost forgot the vote and just now done it with a YES This makes 90% so far

Bitcointalk uses Cloudflare already. Can we get .onion service and get rid of this recaptcha madness?
This would be awesome especially for the tor users. I am not sure how it will be done for the forum (if they consider) however getting rid of the recaptcha will be a great relief. anyone using Tor Browser 8.0 will benefit from improved security and performance when visiting Cloudflare websites without having to face a CAPTCHA.
