I'm trying to think of something that would justify the awarding of 50 merits, but I  can't

Just award the merits... don't stress too much. I see you are one of the person who stress too much (I am not saying it's bad by the way but thing is it's hard to find people to fulfill the stander you expect) when it comes to awarding merits. Don't make merit looks too hard to receive.
924  Other / Meta / Re: Help for heroes on: September 04, 2018, 10:52:52 AM
I was trying to stimulate the creation of a few special items for the forum.
Yes, I see that mate  Smiley

I always notice your efforts, I also notice efforts from hilariousetc and other members as well. Good thing that we are giving our best shots. It would be nice if some of the trusted members could work closely with theymos although we all know the reality for theymos.

...the people you hire turn out not to be trustworthy...

Here are some reality of other famous people:
Mark Zuckerberg - Facebook
Larry Page and Sergey Brin - Google
Steve Jobs - Apple
Bill Gates - Microsoft

What do you think of the idea of having a 50 merit award project for Heroes? There are already lots of awards for members helping with forum stats, so I was thinking of something that would help members expand their interest in the Bitcoin economy. I'm a bit stumped over the project though. So many things are available already.
Aren't they already receiving the rewords for their contribution to the forum? I guess you are talking about some extra attention for them?

927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Mining Pool (+5% more then ethermine.org) HiveOn.net on: September 04, 2018, 09:53:49 AM
Hi there hard working miners.

No idea if people knew this, but there is a new pool out quite recently, called http://hiveon.net (from the developers of the HiveOs system).
I have been using it for a few days now to test, and the results are insane.

Daily i make about 5-7% more ETH than on ethermine.org.

They also have a great support on telegram and the dev's are really active, also working on Monero pools and more!
Already 4.7Thash on the pool and a 0% fee.

Feel free to test it out, and post your own results!  Wink

I am new (lately got interested) to this mining things. I have heard about other mining pools as well. My question is: How do I pick one? What criteria should I follow? People who setup a mining pool what benefit they get? I am sure they do not do charity.

I will appreciate if anyone enlighten me with these information.

Thanks
928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: You cant cash out with Tether, you do know that right? on: September 04, 2018, 09:45:52 AM
So what's the point of it being pegged to 1 USD per token if it's not as good as cash? Yes, it will save your portfolio on dumps but wouldn't it be nicer if you can conveniently convert to cash with lesser fees to BTC or ETH instead of letting it sit in the exchange or wallet for a while until the market favors your orders?
Tether was created with 1:1 real dollar value. So that traders can simply convert their crypto to tether and hold it. It's nothing but another alt coin. When you want to cash out then this is what I follow...
1. Convert the tether to btc or any other alt
2. Send the coin to another exchange that allow Fiat withdrawal

Alternatively if the exchange which allow fiat withdrawal have tether then you can exchange tether with USD and then cash out.
929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Do crypto games have a future? on: September 04, 2018, 09:38:13 AM
As I see the market is overloaded with scam games or primitive collectibles with few exceptions.
What do you think?
IMO for gambling crypto is one of the best option. You can keep yourself anonymous. I am not sure how you came to the conclusion however there are some good crypto gambling sites already doing good.

https://nitrogensports.eu
https://fortunejack.com
etc are some of the sites I have experienced and they are good.

Disclaimer: I have not paid by any of the above sites to list them here.
930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH mining: Seeking guide in English language on: September 03, 2018, 09:49:09 PM
Good guide with all the steps for getting started mining ETH on Windows with both AMD and Nvidia.

https://www.mining.help

Thank you mate. I am on it... I finished watching this video and for so far the steps are:

1. Calculating the ROI: Electricity cost and stuffs I have no idea how these terms works. I guess 1st I need to know how much electricity cost here.
2. Finding a motherboard
3. Buying some GPU: Which one should I buy?

And more possible knowledge.
931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / ETH mining: Seeking guide in English language on: September 03, 2018, 08:23:04 PM
This topic will be a self - moderated topic to prevent spamming

Lately, I am finding interest in mining (I never mined any coin), thanks to the signature campaign I am with now. I heard BTC mining is not much profitable (not sure). So, my primary goal is to mine some ETH or perhaps to start with ETH since it's a safe choice I guess. I have gone through some articles and stuffs on google, here on bitcointalk as well but to me the languages seems very difficult to pick. I have an IT background but seems like the terms they use, the language they speak is hard for me to understand.

I am looking for some beginners guide in simple English language. The language which will be understandable by everyone.

I am comfortable with Windows OS.
I have 24/7 electric supply and honestly speaking the electric cost will be very cheap for me.
I do not know what hardware setup I will need however if I get guide then I can start setting up a system.

I hope I will find some mentors here who can guide me to the right direction. Please someone accept me as your student. I promise, I will be very loyal.

Thank you in advance.

932  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ChangeNow.io (Evercode Lab) - Scam. Illegally holding of 100 BCH (11 bitcoins). on: September 03, 2018, 06:44:43 PM
Just an off topic response (mod can delete it if they want to)...

I have not looked into any details but just noticed that the OP is spending money to advertise this topic for awareness. S/he is paying money on advertising slot to display the add for this topic. Blow me  Smiley

Thumbs up by the way.
933  Other / Meta / Re: 6 sendable merit left [regular merit boost feature needed] on: September 03, 2018, 06:35:23 PM
But users that most of the time just "chat" wont get any merit. Dont say chatting = spamming. There can be a big difference.
I would suggest you to focus on earning some merits. This will get you 1:1/2 ratio sMerits.

You can also apply for a merit source if you want to.

Just some friendly suggestions by the way.

That's why you have to apply to be one.
I assume TP is suggesting the same.

Move this topic to the scam accusations board. Also add the information of the scammer.
The testnet red mark was clearly visible to his video by the way. Sorry for your lose.

Also you missed the ETH value in USD

936  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: September 03, 2018, 03:19:30 PM

I seached the google and even the deep web on how to get instant merit here in BTT but then something strange hAPPEened...something unusual...something horrible....something chilling...something inexplainable...something unfathomable...something no one will ever expect. What was it? Its NOTHING!

You see... Even deep web cant give me instant merit. It is something that i should work out...WE SHOULD WORK OUT.
But then, if we really want it...if we really will it..then there will always be a way.

#iloveBTTrule
#meritIslyf
By now, you should start working on it.

Looking at your post history, I can tell that you are not that much aware of how to earn merits. You have two redundant post on the top!

I hope you do not mind to remove one of it. May be this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5002503.msg45138304#msg45138304

Kind of but not clearly. Are you the one who said that one day you will become a Full member?

Sorry mate, my memory sometimes trick with me. It's not your fault if I forget things.

By the way, Congratulations!

940  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does any of you spend bitcoin in physical shops? on: September 03, 2018, 02:07:15 PM
I paid around 1.34 BTC (early 2017: $1200 that time) to buy a website script from an online software company. We had contract that they will do some customization for the website. It was a not much work but they were working on the script for few months... eventually they ran away without giving me any update leaving me the unfinished script.

I still have the website but not functioning as I expected but I was blamed several times on this forum that I had the business up and I was promoting it... Here is the link by the way: http://followbitcoin.today

I have spent my bitcoin online for various other stuffs but never spent to any physical shop.

PS: I bought bitcoin using ATM though.
