881  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Talk has made me a bit sad today. on: September 11, 2018, 12:06:20 PM
IMO, you're trying a bit too hard, that's what I felt. No offense whatsoever. When you try too hard and don't get the desired results, sadness is obvious.
A good piece of advice.

@Jet Cash: You might find some encouragement from this forum.

Take notes:
- to reach first 101 members, it took 4 months, 20 days (excluding the end date)
- to reach first 1001 members, it took 9 months, 8 days
- most of these members did not even made it to a Jr.

I guess f2t is doing better than this is this short period of time. Remember you need long term members not spam bots.

I hope you will find something encouraging from this date I pulled manually.

By the way, keep doing the good works without worrying about the expected outcome. If your work is good enough for people, if your work provides value to the community then today or tomorrow or years later you will see good things will start getting back.
882  Other / Meta / Re: Selling Bitcointalk Account -SCAM on: September 11, 2018, 11:47:08 AM
In the rules it says...

18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

You can sell accounts however it has been discouraged. So, IMO the community decided the best practice for buying/selling accounts which is to tag both buyer/sellers.

The reasons are explained very well on the post above.
Sadly most of the people selling accounts these days are either hackers or just scammers who don't even have any accounts for sale in the first place and are just trying to fleece people. The account selling market is already a shady underworld and most escrows won't get involved so that just increases the chances of being scammed.

884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What is going on with ETH? on: September 10, 2018, 05:34:38 PM
This will be a self moderated topic to prevent obvious spamming. I need a discussion not just comments. I am keen to understand the market.

For me it's a call to buy by the way.

Just few minutes ago I saw a buy order of around 72BTC (the screenshot is from Binance). One side is buying and another side is selling at the price 0.03 BTC (around). I have no idea how long this bear market will continue but I have seen ETH to bounce back from aroun 0.028 BTC to 0.096 BTC.

What are the factors are causing this price drop for ETH. I am sure those who are selling at this price are not stupid.

886  Other / Meta / Re: Please Delete My Account on: September 10, 2018, 04:31:59 PM
There should be a button that you press and your account and all posts get wiped.
You are talking to a person who's mistake was to leave his identity open. They took the chance and used it so badly that his family who had nothing to do with this forum was insulted by those members - just because he did something in the past which some of the members did not like it at all. The person is me, by the way. Don't you think I would like that feature more than anyone!

Sometimes I wish to leave the forum, sometimes I wish to resign from this account and create an alt to start over then again I find there are some members who really respect this account and show their loves. It's not that easy to leave a community when you get involved too much.

Quote
However this may be used by scammers to leave when they get caught, but nowadays with the internet archive taking snapshots and people quickly using archive.is to collect anything dodgy, it wouldn't really be that useful for scammers, but a normal person that just wants to leave could probably benefit from it.
This point is valid.

right to be forgotten is a bad thing
I never said it bad by the way. My emphasis was that theymos will not bother to delete an account at all, although it's only one click away for him. Technically few clicks...
- Go to the members page
- Search the member using the username
- Select the member
- Hit the delete button
- Confirm the delete account

Everything get's wiped out, I guess?
887  Other / Meta / Re: Forum chronicle - UP Rank List (statistics, trust, who is who) on: September 10, 2018, 03:03:38 PM
If you want to keep a complete list, you should automate this. There's no way you're going to keep 17 Reserved posts up to date if you do it by hand.

Also: jillscarbrough is in your list twice.

OP will get mad after someday and will give up eventually until they find a way to scrape the data like you do. You can help the OP since you have the right tools. Just wondering  Tongue
888  Other / Meta / Re: Please Delete My Account on: September 10, 2018, 02:58:10 PM
And the forum should have this "feature".
They did, in the initial years. It was removed later on for reasons.
Default SMF has a delete account feature. And I am sure bitcoinTalk has also. The reason of my suggestion was OP to lock his/her account is because I highly doubt any admin will care to hit the delete button form him.

About "Right to be forgotten" - I do not think being a forum inspired by bitcoin really need this corporation created rules. We are ok with our own choice as a community. Bitcoin should not follow corporation.

No one knows vlom's identity, no one know pugman's identity so why care  Tongue
889  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips How to Make Money with Bitcoin on: September 10, 2018, 02:43:41 PM
Do you know other ways? If  yes post in the forum.
Thanks for your effort however there are very clear explanations from the topic created by Lauda. Feel free to read here: [General] How to earn Bitcoins - Part 1

Some of these options may also lose you money if you don't know what you are doing.
It does not harm to do your due diligence.
890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Btc Bounty on: September 10, 2018, 02:41:54 PM
You might want to use an escrow since there are no reputation at all under your belt. Using an escrow will increase the chance to trust your offer here.

Good luck.

891  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.02 Bitcoin Urgently - Will repay 0.2 to first person who helps me. on: September 10, 2018, 11:47:31 AM
I Urgently need 0.02 Bitcoin to activate my currencyoceon.com account. Otherwise I can't withdraw my balance (Free users can't withdraw - you need
to pay a once off activation fee before you can withdraw) My balance currently stands at just over 9.7 BTC (so repaying won't be a problem for me)
after activation.

Please help - it's urgent!

BTC address: 3LULQabJHboHQCdzhmyj3wZZjoq3ZKmYpo

thanks.
Do you have a valid collateral?

I'm afraid my currencyoceon "reward" (0.2 in return for 0.02 IS my collateral - best offer I can make.) I could provide a screenshot  as proof
If you do not have a collateral then I pass. Good luck.
892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash the real bitcoin? on: September 10, 2018, 11:45:52 AM
BCH is an ALT.

Just because it was created forking the Bitcoin network, just because it has the word "bitcoin" with it's name, just because the bitcoin.com website is promoting bitcoin cash shamelessly - does not make bitcoin cash a bitcoin.

It is just an ALTcoin like 1926 - 1 (bitcoin) cryptocurrency listed on Coin Market Cap.
893  Economy / Reputation / Re: [New] Need DT Members +7 Multi Account on: September 10, 2018, 11:40:54 AM
Creating multi account is not against the forum rule. So, technically anyone can create as many accounts as they want. However a manager/DT member can report/tag an account for misusing bounty campaigns alt accounts.

As Avirunes already said that your OP is missing good explanations. You may want to put some contents and update the OP.

896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's UEFA Champions League Football Preditor Pool £25 in btc to join on: September 09, 2018, 02:24:29 PM
Alright, after I looked again at all the players in the 3 big teams like Barca, Real Madrid and PSG. So I will pick Barca, even though I'm sure also that Real Madrid can go farthest at UCL this time. So put me in with Barca. Grin Thank you!
I will go with PSG a team with Neymar and Mbappé can go a long way  Grin
897  Economy / Reputation / Re: Spamming BM : "thanks for participating" on: September 09, 2018, 12:49:40 PM
Report to moderator is the best option for you. Mostly newbies do these kind of posts. If you find the same person is doing repetitive post in different topics then report two/three posts and on the comment section suggest the mod to view the post history for more spammy posts.

This works very well for me, I hope it will work the same for you too.

I do not think tagging for spamming has been done before. Seems like Vod already done it  Cheesy

PS:  Already there is a topic created by someone else on meta about it.

Just report the posts. Mods will take care of it. You will find more if you just go to the patrol page.

Reported one post.

The user actually broke another forum rule:
Quote
32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

900  Other / Meta / Re: [New Feature Idea] Saving avatars - new forum, or current SMF on: September 09, 2018, 07:51:38 AM
You're missing something: bitcointalk acts as a proxy for all images. This was implemented after a user created a "tracking pixel".
The latest version of SMF has it built in by the way.

Anyway, like Piggy and others - I will say the same. It could be a useful feature however there are some features we need to the forum which are more important then this. We should not make this forum an easy place for the signature spammers.
