741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if DEXs are banned in the future? on: December 27, 2023, 12:53:36 PM

What do you think will happen if DEXs are "banned" in the future? Will they die? Or will they still survive (despite the fact that most people will avoid them to prevent jail time or being fined)?

Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley

Why do you think the government would try to ban a DEX, they have tried to ban crypto trading earlier, and the result was not what the government expected. Recently Nigeria has come out of the crypto ban and in the past India went through the same phase.

Why is it impossible to ban a DEX? The simple reason being they as in the DEX are not available in the real world. An outright ban is not possible because DEX does not have a central entity or a target server. To shut them down a government would need to shut the internet, it can only happen in a country where democracy does not exist.

I don't think that any government can come up with a ban on DEX, what I understand is that they might come up with regulations. That being said they might force individual wallet holders to pass KYC using the data that these DEX hold. They might force a DEX to strictly follow their regulations. I do not know how they would do it but I am certain it is not that easy to ban them.

Sounds like good choice so far to play in middle from KL Rahul, odi and tests proved, let's see t20/ipl.Even tho Rahul might keep playing, he has minimal support on other end. Let's hope India makes at least 250.

Gill has been doing so bad lately.

Yes, he played well considering he was the only batter left in the team to bat. I personally never expected India to get to 245 when on the non-striker end it was Shiraj. I was going through the stats of Shubhman Gill and Shardul Thakur, and to my surprise, they both have played the same number of test matches but Shardul Thankur has more runs than the star batter of the Indian team in test cricket. Considering this why not replace Shubhman Gill's position with Shardul Thakur's  Grin

Indian bowling has started and like yesterday the rain might interrupt the match. The South Africans have already lost a wicket and the Indian bowlers are doing good as of now. Prasidh Krishna again is an expensive of all the Indian bowlers, not sure why he gets selected. The magic of Ashwin has not yet begun but we all know he can take wickets and break partnerships whenever India needs one.
743  Other / Meta / Re: Has anyone here received bitcointalk phishing emails? on: December 26, 2023, 01:04:17 PM

If you meant hacker getting access to your bitcointalk account, 2fa can only increase your account's security not jeopardize it. Because to get access, user will now require both pass and 2fa code.

Hackers can gain access to your 2FA account if they can hack the email address used to sign in to 2FA. I do not need a third party to give me security when I am already aware of how to make the security of my BTT account strong. Another thing, every time you are using 2FA you are granting access to Google to access your activities.

2fa is not product, it's one of measures websites can use to protect their users. I'm pretty certain there is no privacy concerns on it's implementation or if it belongs to particular country/jurisdiction, cmiiw.

It is a product of Google to monitor and check the websites that are being used by anyone. It might have been created for security purposes so was the captcha but there is always a hidden agenda behind every product that they provide for free.
744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have You Accomplished What Brought You to Bitcoin? on: December 26, 2023, 12:51:18 PM
When I had joined the bitcoin bandwagon, I never had a plan to get rid of my day job. I know different people have different aspirations. But I really like my job. Especially after the COVID when it has become a remote job and I do not need to travel to office daily. Also I think it's a stupidity to rely on a single source of income. So Bitcoin has become my 2nd source of income which I use to travel within and outside my country.

So personally if I look back, Bitcoin was able to provide me with a solid 2nd source of income which is helping me to achieve my travel goals.

Before COVID I was struggling to get customers for my online business, post COVID it has been a dream come true. Now every small or big business wants to be on the Internet and want to be on the first page of Google. Since I do not work for anyone else and work for myself at the comfort of my office things are somewhat similar to what you have mentioned for yourself.

Bitcoin for me is a form of alternate investment and the forum for me is a form of gaining knowledge and learning with the ability to earn Bitcoin through a signature campaign. I cannot let go of both opportunities that I have been blessed with due to my habit of being inquisitive. For me, Bitcoin is also a second source of income and investment option which is quite good for anyone who is living in a third-world country.

Tomorrow we have the test coming up and Rohit and Virat appearance after WC. The fact is India never won test series in SA so that is something surprising even after India progressed a lot in the last two decades. Can this history will be rewritten because here we got a chance to make it happen since its only 2 match series and weaker SA batting lineup than they used to be.

What are your thoughts, guys?

Also, I think we can introduce fantasy players prediction from now on since we know how big the fantasy sports in India right now and It's nothing but gambling.

My fantasy players for first test: Virat, KL, Bumrah, Coetzee, Bavuma (he actually got better stats in test while playing in SA).

As of now, the Indian batting collapsed like anything, Rohit Sharma scored 5 runs, Shubhman Gill completely out of form scored 2 runs and Ashwin scored 8 runs. Are they serious about this test series or are playing for the sake of it? Shardul Thakur is batting aggressively at the moment, do not know how long he will last. KL Rahul is batting sensibly as he knows how important it is for him to stay on the pitch. The top and the middle order have been completely wiped out, it is the lower order that is for now holding the fort.

747  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why the transaction fee hike on ORDI? on: December 24, 2023, 02:18:55 PM
He is using WBTC on the Binance smart chain BEP20 which is not Bitcoin, it is an altcoin.
Sending WBTC to another exchange is a way to minimize transaction fees.  Since it is in BEP20, the user can minimize the transaction fee
There's no such WBTC on BSC network since WBTC is a dedicated token that run in ETH network. If you use Bitcoin that run in BSC network, it's actually BTCB.

Thanks for enlightening me with your theory of There's no such WBTC on the BSC network since WBTC is a dedicated token that runs in the ETH network.. It proves you haven't understood how BSC came into existence and why I wrote WBTC is common on most blockchains.

Sometimes replies like these could be ignored but looking at your rank with a campaign you certainly have to know the basic difference between Bitcoin and Bitcoin tokens. It is now evident that you would like to argue with me about what should a cloned token be named. I am not sure how to put this up to you but I have been here for some time now and I feel you should understand where the Bitcoin cloning token started and why I gave a generic name. You will come up with the question why WBTC and why not anything else, please do your research before every other was called WBTC and why it is not being named the same.
748  Other / Meta / Re: Has anyone here received bitcointalk phishing emails? on: December 24, 2023, 01:35:31 PM
I have never received phishing emails and do not think I would receive any in the future. The only thing I can think of close to phishing email is phishing DMs. Although I get the warning message, I sometimes check the link by pasting the link on the TOR browser which I have installed on another device. Activating 2FA on my account can be a problem as it would jeopardize my identity if it gets hacked.

With recent events happening with a Bitcoin mixer campaign I don't feel confident with the way Theymos wrote while introducing it. It might be my theory but there are big privacy issues with 2FA considering it is a product of the US. Aiming in mind the current situation here and what is happening globally I would ignore it for my betterment.
749  Other / Meta / Re: 2FA added on: December 24, 2023, 01:23:46 PM
Google Authenticator doesn't support the export/import function, so you need to have access to the application if you are about to switch devices whereas Authy is one of the popular 2FA app that works on multiple devices when you login to your account.

Google Authenticator can be exported to another Android device without any issue. I have done it in the past so anyone can be using an Android handset. Clicking on the three dots on the Authenticator screen and following the screens, is a very easy process.

I am using Google Authenticator, and that's why I said it is hard to recover the accounts if they are gone one time, like if the device is lost, the OS of the phone got corrupted, etc. Any type of reason could cause a loss of access to this app. It is just too risky. I get to know about other 2FA apps too, but I think Google is more trustworthy, or isn't it?

You can create a backup of your Google account on your Google Drive to retrieve all Google accounts. Ensure that the email address you have used to log in to your Authenticator is not lost or stolen, I meant the password. There are tutorials on how to create a backup if you search on Google, the next step will be to log in to the new Android device using the same email address and password to get access to your authenticator.

The new Android version or the version earlier allows users to create separate passwords to access any app. I think if your phone gets stolen and somehow the thief can unlock the password, the struggle would be to unlock important apps on your phone with this feature to lock apps. Android is not so bad as you both have projected it with your comments.

As Theymos said it is important to get your email address secure as without it situation would be bad for anyone using an Android device.

750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amidst Bitcoin EFT Approval, SEC Receive New Chairman on: December 24, 2023, 12:56:29 PM
Why would the government change the chairman now? With the ongoing ETF applications that are still pending approval, it is highly unlikely that the SEC will have a new Chairman. When you take news from X.com formerly known as Twitter, it is always a good thing to verify the news. With the new policy of buying a blue tick, it is impossible to be sure that the news is not fake. Currently, they have also made it easy for any content creator to earn money on that platform as it depends on the number of activities happening on any tweets. To gain a good amount of revenue content creators come up with such fake news and when questioned they would justify their earning by using a loophole. In this case, it is the image that has been shared by that handle as it clearly looks like a fake image generated using an AI.
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana just reached $80! - EDIT: Now $110+ on: December 24, 2023, 12:40:46 PM
I was going through CMC and found that this year it has given an ROI of 872% It is too much for anyone who had invested in Solana in January this year. I did check earlier in January it was trading at its lowest of $13 and as of today, it is trading at a price of $109. There are two reasons why Solana is going up and is showing signs before the halving and that is dog-theme meme coins and airdrops happening in its ecosystem. Much of the volume is coming from rampant speculation about the above two and this is what is driving the price to go up.
752  Local / Off-Topic (India) / Re: Let's Discuss About Movies and TV Shows! on: December 23, 2023, 02:26:45 PM
The hype of Rebel Moon was so big but the movies was not that good. I was expecting a movie on the similar story line of Dune. Looks like the story was not good enough and the editing was very poor. Graphics were not you expect from Jack Snyder movies. The raiting on IMDB did not even cross 6 at the moment it is 5.9/10, which is bad considering the amount of money was used to produce this film. Netflix is slowly losing its charm with increase in Woke based series and poor choice of stories.
753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A good or bad way to avoid high transaction fee? on: December 23, 2023, 01:57:57 PM
I thought he was talking about the Ligthening Network because that was the only solution I told him is available, he choose to use Binanace chain and after looking into it I am surprised that the Volume is very high and top exchanges supports BTC on Binance chain as well.

What you are referring to is WBTC (Wrapped Bitcoin) which is an altcoin and not Bitcoin. It is available on not just Binance Smart chain but also Ethereum and Tron blockchain. It is on the Binance Smart Chain a BEP20 token, on the Ethereum blockchain and ERC20 token, and Tron, it is a TRC20 token. You will get high volume as the fee is very low and Binance does promote its blockchain on its exchange. This is justified as both the exchange and blockchain are owned by Binance and being centralized it will first promote itself than the real Bitcoin.
754  Economy / Gambling / Re: Joya.Casino| Rewarding Casino| Huge Welcome and VIP Bonus| 20% Weekly CashBack on: December 23, 2023, 01:51:55 PM
Uhmm, an honest opinion in terms of design, honeslty I do not like the overall design of the casino itself.
It is good in desktop mode, but when it is currently not a mobile-user-friendly.
The elements of the main menu (bottom-middle) are too big, the animation of the opening & closing the sidebar menu in mobile screen is cringe... lol.

Certainly, you might need to work more on the UIUX design aspect of the website.

Almost all casinos that are launching themselves come up with the same template for design. I did not find their UI/UX bad, it is eye-soothing and grabs the attention of anyone visiting their casino. I did check their website on mobile devices and it is fully compatible and easy to access on mobile devices without any issue. The desktop version is good too, but I do not understand why you have written that it is currently not mobile-friendly. They have a slider on the home page which is not that big. All the games are displayed below the slider and you can access the menu by clicking on the hamburger menu at the top left hand. Everything looks perfect and it is not that bad as you have written.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge orders Craig Wright to pay over $1M on: December 23, 2023, 12:53:32 PM
His gamble with BSV has failed and he needs something to revamp the cryptocurrency, which he says is the original Bitcoin blockchain. He also knows that his fakeology will not hold long when the investigation is completed or the dispute is resolved. In the meantime, he would gain some advantage by getting free publicity on media portals even in mainstream media. BTW, no one cares what is happening with him, the more we discuss him the more he would be able to get free publicity. Ignoring him is the best solution for him to die down from the limelight.
756  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why the transaction fee hike on ORDI? on: December 23, 2023, 12:44:07 PM
Btc fee = 0.43$ ?? I think you selected other network as normal btc withdraw fee in binance is more than 29$ now.

He is using WBTC on the Binance smart chain BEP20 which is not Bitcoin, it is an altcoin.

it is always good to check transaction fee before making a transaction because if you don't check your transaction fee you might loose a lot of fund to transaction fee.

That is correct before processing any transaction on any blockchain it is a good habit to check the fee. If not then accidentally anyone would pay more fees than the value of the crypto. I have not invested in ORDI so I would not know the withdrawal fees applicable, it would be high as they use the Bitcoin blockchain which is facing heavy congestion due to the ordinals.

As for USDT, the fees are mostly small in almost all networks and it is around that 1USDT for almost all networks.

It is not always 1 USDT for all other blockchains, especially on the Ethereum blockchain. It varies from 1 USDT to 5 USDT depending on the blockchain used.
757  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: December 22, 2023, 02:05:23 PM
Sanju Samson played very good yesterday considering the batting and keeping he has been doing in the past. I mean playing one game when you get a century doesn't mean he is better than what he used to be earlier.
.
A small stint of getting a century won't help him as he is now outnumbered by others. In this case most of them in his position and if I think correctly he is eyeing the position of Kholi.

Can he overthrow Kholi and get cemented in that position? You would need much more to overcome the GOAT in ODI & Test cricket. I haven't seen anyone who could do better that Kholi in that position in both the format.

Considering T20 format he is still way behind then those youngsters. He is not just good for T20 as he takes time to come into the sense that he is playing a short format of cricket. I saw today a lot of article got published about his ability as a batter and how much he was suffering from depression. Thankfully, he is out of that mental issue
758  Economy / Reputation / Re: Light_warrior / Memorial thread ... 🕯️ on: December 22, 2023, 01:49:40 PM
It seems light_warrior was given a memorial title.

He deserved it! Found out that his daughter doesn't want to accept the money that was donated by you and few other members of the forum. I don't think it would be right to use those funds for predicting the Bitcoin price in Games and rounds. I felt we should have kept that amount in the escrow wallet incase in the future his daughter needs that amount.

As per her wish you are doing what she asked, that doesn't mean we forget the harsh reality. He was living as a refugee and anytime things could get from bad to worse for her. It is you decision as you are the biggest contributor to those funds.
759  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Campaigns in the Service Board on: December 22, 2023, 01:30:18 PM
Now to my question: Fees have been going wild lately and I've already seen some campaigns switch to payments over other networks while still remaining in the Bitcoin Service board (and advertising paying in BTC). Am I to assume this is alright? I've been paying roughly $200/week per campaign in fees for the last few weeks and would much rather pay less as long as nothing would change as to where I can post
 campaigns and contests.
Ideally if it is not about Bitcoin payment then it shouldn't be present on the Service board. Regardless of it being a temporary issue or not, any other payment option due to the current situation, the thread should be shifted to altcoin board.

I did read a few replies about LN on this topic, it is a good option but the question that comes to my mind can LN wallets handle such a big amount that goes into $1000 every week or more. Well, it would be nice, if anyone here who can give the right information. The problem with LN is that a lot of campaign members don't think it as an alternate option to Bitcon payment. In current situation it should be considered as an alternative.

I won't think anyone likes what is presently happening with the transaction fee. When will this network congestion end we all are uncertain. Then why not utilize a secondary option like LN in the meantime, if it allows.
760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Bitcoin will bring you hope and gambling will leave you destitute. on: December 22, 2023, 01:07:20 PM
This incident proves to what extent a gambling addict can go. I converted the amount $18000 to the local currency  of Bangladesh and it comes around to one million nine hundred seventy-five thousand taka. As per my understanding this is not a small debt for anyone from the middle class.

I don't know how this guy was able to get into neck deep debt. I feel he would have borrowed that amount to use it for gambling. Being an army man he would have got loans from state owned financial institution. I think he might have used this opportunity to get loan and gamble assuming he would make it big if one-time the jackpot hits. He might have now understood it the hard way, which is kind of sad as his family and his father now get dragged into this mess.
