7501  Other / Off-topic / Re: Good Web Host? on: September 18, 2013, 12:45:58 PM
Like I said Namecheap is a very good hosting provider, as been operating for many years and offers shared & vps hosting.

There is a Hosting comparison in the "services" Sub-forum which is very useful. It's filled with customer reviews about different types of hosting companies. Also, some mixed reviews.

But, there are a number of hosting companies in the services sub-forum which has some customers reviews under their official threads.

I have only mentioned legal hosting providers which accept Bitcoin as a payment. If you are looking for Hosting providers who accept Fiat money, then use google for some reviews on different companies.
7502  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BREAKING NEWS: REWT ADMITS TO BEING A SCAMMER! NEG TRUST HIS ASS!! on: September 18, 2013, 12:39:55 PM
Sorry but admitting you were trying to scam doesnt make you any less of a scammer. I have to tag you. If for no other reason than to remind me not to trust you.

I completely support this

i accept that too

it is working. i am feeling so touched r3wt. NOT!!! scammer!

yup. you really got me this time. i guess the lesson i learn is to lie and the community will trust me? how does that work out exactly?

Like I previously mentioned it's good that you actually admitted and refunded people. But, I do also support sublime comment that it doesn't make you any less of a scammer. Let's be honest here. If you could of gotten away with it you would of never come forward? That's why people shouldn't trust you. I still don't trust you. If I were every to deal with you escrow would be needed but that's just basics.
7503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When i will reach 1 BTC when i am having white hairs!! on: September 18, 2013, 12:36:10 PM
Turns out he is just a nob who edited his posting to do advertisements. Will watch that trust rating in future.

It doesn't look good for the op. He obviously hasn't read any of the forums rules or peoples warnings. I'm assuming this account will go inactive and they will just open another up with a clean trust rating. If not I think this trust rating will have a few negatives.
7504  Economy / Securities / Re: CROWD FUNDING ASIC on: September 18, 2013, 12:31:15 PM
Dear bitcointalkers,

after having and hear about issues with several exchanges:

we are studying the possibility to start one with the maximum services/features we can offer.

So i m trying to have a number of people who will be interested in using our services and if you have suggestion also of services you would like to have in it

thanks

So you started working on a currency exchange 4 days ago and now you're also building an ASIC. Impressive.
How old are you? 12?

COMING  from a guy who 48 as activity i m very impressed by you

(LOL)

Activity doesn't mean that he isn't right. I'm not saying he's right or wrong about what he stated. But, I do believe you need to focus on one thing at a time unless you have partners which can lend a hand. Focusing on more than one thing can cause problems with both projects. You need to seriously consider the pros and cons of this.

If you have, then you need to try to persuade people rather than giving them a vague post. If you go into detail you will receive a lot more attention. Most people see this and leave the page without even reading past the second line. Because, it doesn't look professional enough (Judging this on the amount of reviews VS Replies).

This could be good. If you don't good the same path as BFL and companies like that.
7505  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Link Discovery on: September 18, 2013, 12:25:24 PM
welcome,

1) how do you usually share stuff? twitter #bitcoin or any other social sharing platform. or am I missing the point?

Well, because this forum is very popular among the Bitcoin community a lot of people share new stuff here. Rather than social networking and other media sites. General discussion is littered with new and interesting things happening with Bitcoin. I don't think social networking is a great way. Because most of my friends & contacts don't have any interest in Bitcoin. Unless, you have contacts which are interested and involved with Bitcoin is this a good approach.

7506  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cointripler.tk Legit or Scam (Like Mining United and Others) on: September 18, 2013, 12:17:12 PM
That's true. I guess they are asking for a investment so they can buy new mining machines. But, there has been so many websites which have done this and ran off with the money eventually. I wouldn't be surprised if it's owned by the same people. Although, even if you do receive your money back, I urge people to be careful. They could be legit for a few months, years but they could eventually run off with the money. If you are going to use sites like these always invest small amounts, not something which can bankrupt you.

Also, the owner of that site may find this thread and may only pay you back because you are reviewing them publicly and they are a newly established company (Least I believe, I haven't heard of them before this as far as I can recall).

After a quick search I returned some results that you may find interesting (Actually being discussed today):

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=296352.0

Honestly, I would hold out for quadrupling your bitcoins, but that's just me.

Wise words from a wise man.

I do believe you will get your Bitcoin back. Otherwise they wouldn't earn much....this seems to be a ponzi scheme where eventually they will take the money and run.

We all surf the net in search of new Bitcoin related content for hours on end I guess. Now and then I come across stuff I get totally excited about (right now about Harmonic patterns for example, sorry can't link yet!).

How do we share links, is there a thread that gets updated when members discover new links worth sharing? Sort of a link discovery thread I can subscribe to/watch?

There are a number of different threads with useful links. If you use the search function implemented in the site you will find a few which are updated at certain times in the month. In the service announcements and discussion sub-forums there are a number of lists.

POLL: where do you get your info on Bitcoin, trading & technical chart analysis from? (e.g. this forum, reddit, ...)

For chart analysis either Reddit or the economical sub-forum has some good resources and debates. Here at the forum there is a lot of newly posted threads discussing the charts everyday.

I agree, it's very hard to get your trust back. But, this guy hasn't scammed as of yet. He has only spammed the forums with his website. Which is not great but at least he hasn't scammed anyone that we know of. R3wt the user actually scammed and paid back everyone and publicly admitted and was accepted back into the community by certain members. But, I'm always cautious whoever I deal with so trust rating just indicates too me they have the capability of scamming. Doesn't mean I ignore or avoid them. Sometimes they are looking to get their reputation back.

Excuse my ignorance but in what way do you trade with other members on the forums? Are you selling currency to each other? I don't think I would do that without a proper service with escrow system in place.

Well, when dealing with anything I always advise a escrow. Escrow is definitely needed no matter the circumstances. There are a number of ways to trade on the forums. You can offer a service, sell goods, get into the domain selling business or you can sell/buy Bitcoin for fiat money via bank transfers etc.

But remember try to steer clear of Paypal as it has huge risks. I personally sell things on Bitmit & offer services here and there.
7509  Other / Meta / Re: Kyle91 AKA How to increase your ignore list on: September 18, 2013, 11:58:57 AM
I agree. If members are only replying to posts with useless & in no way helping the community then what is the point? 1-3 word posts some times can be enough to answer the question or give the answer. But, the posts that say "awesome" are really not needed. If you need to thank someone for actually pointing out something then tell them in a personal message. Most newbies now are spamming the "Hello welcome to the forums" posts. I agree that this is a nice way to greet people. But, when they only send them messages it can be very irritating. It seems a lot lurk around the newbie areas and just wait for a introduction post.

I believe useless posters should be warned and banned eventually if they continue doing it. But, we do need to find a definition for useless posts. Does useless posts mean what the moderators think is useless on a individual basis? Or is it going to be a different  system?

I think 'nearly' all posts or the majority of their posts are what we have discussed to be the definition of useless posts, for example 1 word posts then they should be warned then banned.

I can remember having to report a thread not long ago because someone made a sock puppet and were counting together, 1, 2, 3 right up to 300 it got. They had 300 posts in their first 2 hours of registering that was disgusting. It did get deleted by Tysat eventually though.
I normally just ignore people when they add nothing to the community.
7510  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think BTC will hit $200? on: September 18, 2013, 11:53:14 AM
It will do, I still think come new years we'll see this amount.
7511  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP! I don't know if I've been scammed or not -> Asic-technologies.com on: September 18, 2013, 11:48:33 AM
No offense, but you have to be quite gullible to fall for this. A static bitcoin address where you are supposed to just your coins to before filling out the most basic of order forms? And then follow up with an email? A sob story about students having to sell their car for food but ending up being the first on market with 28nm asics? A few pictures of the outside of generic case that includes audio jacks, USB input connectors  and thats somehow supposed to represent a range of miners from 3 to almost 300GH?

Common.

We make mistakes man. I can still code, solder and build a machine amongst other things. We make mistakes...hard ones but its a lesson to be learned.

Sometimes it takes a bad investment for people to wise up. I believe no one makes the right decision all the times. And, sometimes people are glad they made those bad investments just so they know how to avoid being scammed again.
7512  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying Pizza? on: September 18, 2013, 11:46:34 AM
What country are you in for starters? Pizza hut is available in a number of countries. But, there are certain websites which accept Bitcoin for ordering pizza and other takeaways. Although, I'm not sure what countries they actually offer the service too.

Foodler.com - Not Pizza hut but offers to buy Pizza for Bitcoin.

PizzaForCoins.com - Also another site which was famous for a very high amount of Bitcoins to pay for a pizza back in 2010.

Just noticed he has a dodgy trust rating (OP), how do we improve that anyway?

As in real life, it is tough to get trust back. So do not scam in first place if you dont want to have negative trust rating

For anyone struggling to get into the Bitcoin world. Then think how would you make money in fiat? It's the same principle as Bitcoin. You are highly unlikely to receive any donations as this is the real world and people in Bitcoin are trying to earn as much as they can.

Most people tend to offer a certain service or sell a few things they own for Bitcoin. There are places which hire people for Bitcoin. However, if you have a job which pays in fiat you can always buy Bitcoin with fiat at a exchange. It all depends on the circumstances in which you live in of course. Some countries pay less than others etc.

If you are totally new to Bitcoin and don't understand the concept then you should take a look at the official website & this thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7269.0

thanks useful link and too much information about this

It is a useful link. There is a lot of information, for good and bad reasons. But, it's always useful to find out something which you are unsure about.

Just noticed he has a dodgy trust rating (OP), how do we improve that anyway?

Basically, by doing legit business and not spamming the forum with useless posts. There is some information on how the trust system works in the "Meta" sub-forum. Search the forum on how to gain good reputation. There's a few threads which has many people discussing different ways. But, the best way is to be polite and genuinely be a nice person to deal with. Also, contributing to the forums can also help you gain trust within the community. A lot of people leave trust when someone has helped them.
7516  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP! I don't know if I've been scammed or not -> Asic-technologies.com on: September 18, 2013, 11:34:37 AM
Warning: In the future, no one use this service. After a quick search by myself I found many threads with bad reviews and calling out they have been scammed.

Lesson learnt to everyone that fell for it: Always ask around before handing your money over. Always research on the company/business in question.
7517  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS]Domain + Code - bitscratchers.com on: September 18, 2013, 11:32:23 AM
It's always better to know when the auction is ACTUALLY ending, without extensions etc.

Take a look at this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=285166.0 - It will show you how to add a countdown timer.

I believe it's against TOS to actually sell humble bundle codes.
7519  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pyramining on: September 18, 2013, 11:27:25 AM
It may not be a 'scam' but it's certainly not worth it. The amount of time it takes for you to actually break even, it's ridiculous. You might as well invest in something else. Who, knows if they will still be running in 10 years? I don't think they will. That means a lot of people may not get paid what they were 'promised'.

Basically, every 1BTC you have to wait a year roughly on this difficulty now. The difficulty is going to continue to grow and then prolong the time to break even.
