761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My poloniex account got hacked. Check yours on: March 02, 2014, 02:16:25 PM
He still should have received the email confirmation.

He Likely did get the email typically these start with user getting malware (keylogger) Gets into exchange gets into email. Hacker comes along now has login info sells it off withdraws deletes the confirm emails immediately so they don't get tipped off. IF you ask your mail provider they can likely verify they got the email and that it has been deleted.

So only way to prevent this is Strong 2FA recommend every use it and different passwords login info on all sites.

hi there
I am Stacy, Chief Financial Officer at Cryptsy, you can find more information about me here: https://www.cryptsy.com/pages/about

It's good to see another woman into bitcoin finally , lol.

Have a good opportunity for those we have selected to take part in our  Project Investors program at Cryptsy which is a new investor program we have for our loyal Cryptsy Customers and business affiliates etc (family).

The reason we need affiliate investors is we are trying to build our solid btc investor portfolio so USD investors will take us seriously, our goal is to get the USD exchange by July.

The last day before launch is Friday (Feb 28th) we want to start the program officially on March 1st.

If your interested, we are giving those who link their Cryptsy account with a key to the program get 15% a month compounded interest for the next four months on whatever commitment they make for that period of time.
Your able to withdrawal at any time but of course that voids the interest.

Let me know!
Sure, how do I do this?I know there are only a few of us Cool
5 hours ago

Oh great, sorry I was busy all morning. First off you need a Cryptsy account.

https://www.cryptsy.com/users/register
Cryptsy - Register New Account
www.cryptsy.com

If you have one already fine just as well, secondly add whatever you'd like to start with. We also accept altcoins so doge / ltc / wdc / vert / uno etc. is all welcome to take part.
I already have one

Great, is everything already confirmed in there? Otherwise make a deposit.
Im on my cryptsy account what do I do

Lastly have to get you on the spreadsheet / ledger with your
Username / coin type / amount.

I will get you the project investor key after I have you on the ledger.
Where on cryptsy do I add this? Im signed in now but I dont see where to do this?

Yes its just a project key under balances.
Where do I find the ledger?

I have the ledger here.

You have two options one is cold storage, which is our most popular and secure. Otherwise you can have it in your online account if you'd like.

If you withdrawal or spend the amount you pledge at any time it voids the interest. In cold storage you can be sent back your investment after one business day. We keep them on encrypted usb drives in a bank safety deposit box.

(If you chose to leave the program early)

So tell me your username / amount / coin type.
all I see under balances is view deposit view withdraw view transfer out

Right, that is through our key to use it would be under transfer but first I need to put you on the ledger if you tell me your user / cointype and amount  .

We have two keys, one places it in our cold storage, the other just creates a transaction detail.

So tell me your preferred method of storage as well.

Sorry we don't have a official tab for this it's because we didn't want to cause a media stir regarding opening our project back up. It originally was open up when we first started the exchange at 10% , since we've grown we have been able to offer 15% to get our USD exchange going.

Anywho, got to head out to lunch had a rather early bike ride this morning so am rather hungry!!

Such a nice time though.

Talk to you in a bit!
sorry, give me 5 mins still fill my clients lead orders

ok! im just going to pick up a salad , be back
Ok I am backI am on my cryptsy account but I am not seeing what your talking about

back here too, sorry it seems confusing but it's just through the balances / transfer option / you can do it two ways one is to actually transfer to the program and we put it in cold storage, the other is you use a 'dummy key' we made that only creates a transaction detail through the transfer option as well

so before I give you the key I need to know what you prefer

most in the project just go through cold storage
What I am saying is I do not see the key or option that your describing.. I went to Cryptsy I signed into my account I went to account balances etc

when I say key im talking about trade keys, you use it under transfer, I haven't given you the key yet

since you didn't tell me what you prefer online or offline storage
What's the difference in the 2

we'll the online key just makes a transaction detail and keeps it in your acct however if you dip below the amount it voids the program for you, it's also less secure since its on your account.. the cold storage key puts it directly into our cold storage for the project that is taken offline and encrypted on USB drives / stored in bank safety deposit boxes and an offline backup hardware that's also encrypted

your still able to leave if you decide you needed your coins back in cold storage it just takes a little longer usually about one day

however its our most popular method, would you like to do that?
one sec Im am reading about cold storage I dont know much about it and like to know what I am doing

Oh sorry, I thought you knew that term, basically just taking it offline secures it a little more, for instance if we kept it online and our site was DDOSd (attacked by hackers) then we wouldn't be able to access it. Likewise our customers wouldn't be able to access their accounts either.

However we have DDOS protection sometimes things happen.

Likewise, if you had some sort of malware on your pc without knowing it could jeopardize your coins because some of them are designed to get to wallets etc, that's why its always good to encrypt (put a password) on every wallet also use two factor authentication for your Cryptsy account.

Cold storage - Bitcoin
en.bitcoin.it

of course it can be done with any cointype not just bitcoin

If you don't prefer cold storage you might as well go with the online option, just make sure you use your phone number for two factor authentication.

You can get to that under settings in the top right after clicking where it says "Hello Kristen" and scroll down to "Two Factor Authentication"

uses your cell phone

Do you not have time to do this today?

Have to leave the office in a couple hours but we could get it done tomorrow if youd like, at least get your username on the ledger anyway by tomorrow.
Sorry I'm driving to pick up my son I should be home I about an hour
I feel like I would like the online option if possible. Would that be ok?

Yes, sure what amount were you thinking?
Is there a minimum or maximum?

no max

we generally prefer over 2 btc that is what most of our investors do, many are 5 - 10

if you only have 1 or so thats fine too?

Just here to help
I can probably stretch it to 2-3 BTC?When do you plan on launching USD?

Oh ok great, what is your username? sorry if you told me already..

were trying to get it done no later then July 4th

however if it takes longer you have the option of another month or two
Sorry, I just have to scrape what I can together and sell off some alts quickly

ok great

np
Message you back in 5-10 minutes  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to invest

yes! your much welcome, still need username when you can though hee

hehe*

have to add it to the ledger so we can finalize it on our end

Unless you have your name on your account that works too.
Ok, I have two accounts, I just need to see which one has funds available to send.just a minute ;p

ok sure , i'll be here
Ok thank you
Ok, account I can send funds from is kbilly

alright great, so  kbilly / 3 btc  correct?
I can only afford 2.5 at the moment is that ok?

That's fine

let me get the key for you
awesome thank you

e4ffe33023b149ba8c9c8d6d126673d15d83411f

Ok remember to confirm via email, as well.
ok

Getting that done now? Have about 30 minutes left here.
sorry just selling off some alts and stuff

oh! thought that was all done
no I still have to make my mind up on what I am going to sell

We are able to honor some altcoin as well if there is one you currently don't like the price of.
I will be ok to send btc i think.

Ok
If I take longer than half an hour can I message you in the morning or later tonight when I send it?

Yes sure
Thank you

np! have fun!
Thank you again for the opportunity

Oh your welcome! I knew you'd be interested! Welcome to the project investors!

If you ever have a cointype suggestion / product or service down the line to bring to our attention please let us know we listen to our affiliates first before everyone else.
awesome Smiley <3

heading out now, go ahead and continue with our key: e4ffe33023b149ba8c9c8d6d126673d15d83411f

770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Flash crashes on Cryptsy on: February 28, 2014, 08:00:00 PM
Can someone please explain how this happens? today, Doge crashed from 191 to 1 for an instant, on pretty high volume. Litecoin has flashed crashed to half it's price twice in the last couple weeks as well. Is this simply a clueless seller dumping way more coins than the market could absorb? - this doesn't make sense to me because when you submit an order for going rate they will sit there until all coins get that rate right? another explanation is it was a glitch and no coins were actually sold at that amount. Please explain if you know.

That is erroneous data making its way into the chart. We will clear it out.

I suppose its good to see that others, are too having issues with Cryptsy.

Has anyone experienced an issue with them that you can't get emails from their system?  thus not allowing you to withdraw any coins at all!

This is usually from your provider blocking us outright, delaying us or throwing us to spam.

Most users in that situation get an email provider that doesn't have this issue. Gmail so far has been the most reliable yahoo being second. Seems Hotmail at times will delay emails.
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Official] Cryptsy News and Info thread *moderated* on: February 27, 2014, 02:33:08 PM
We have added a new feature some may have noticed we now have coin info in the top right corner of the charts.

We have also tweaked how we handle deposits should see some noticeable improvements.

example:

Got some productive feedback on these latest additions? We would love to hear em!

775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Return CENT To CRYPTSY! on: February 26, 2014, 11:00:39 PM
Not to totally derail your efforts. CENT will not be re-added by any means CENT requires us to use some legacy software we no longer wish to use as it prevents growth and scaling.

Read below for all the reasons bottom line we wont support it any longer. We are not the only place to trade it and your welcome to withdraw all your coins.

UPDATE REGARDING PENNIES/CENT

First of all I would like to ensure users that our decision to end trading in know way means the coin is "dead" as some are saying. It is still traded at other exchanges and we hope it has a bright future. It seems to have a very active developer who is working on any issues it has. But at the present time we have decided it best we end trading of the currency for the reasons I will describe below.

I believe we can all agree CENT is certainly a unique coin and with that comes its own unique set of challenges.

Input Buildup:

The original block reward for CENT was only 1 coin. and was meant to be non divisible meaning they could not be broken down further than 1 coin. No decimal places. This would not cause  a problem if the amount of inflation was steady as predicted but rather CENT has gone through what can be best described as "Hyper Inflation" due to its exponential returns on POS minting. This causes problem with input buildup.

Lets say we average 1,000 transactions a day in our CENT wallet.

Now when the chain was still mined via Proof of work the total supply was pretty low so for the start we can average 10 coins per transaction. It stayed like this for some time until the stake started to build up on the network. Lets say 30 days after we listed, roughly 60 days into the chain. Thats 30,000 inputs of 10 coins each in our wallet at that time

Fast forward 6 months.

The network has gone through hyper inflation and there are now trillions of coins. Lets say now the average withdrawal is 1 billion coins. We now have hundreds of thousands of inputs and outputs in our wallets of varying ages and sizes.

So lets try to build a withdrawal of 1 billion coins. Thats a lot of inputs

30,000 x 10 = 300,000 coins (first month transactions )

30,000 x 1000 = 30,000,000 ( maybe 30 days later )

If the wallet trys to use older inputs you can see how this can be an issue. Only so many inputs can fit into a block before it becomes to large and is rejected. Usually this limit is a few hundred to 1000 inputs

1 billion / 1000 = 1,000,000

The average input size would need to be 1 million coins to fit inside of a block. So we reduce the maximum withdrawal amount to prevent transactions from being rejected and having to be resent. This leads to the next issue

Support issues:

As noted above the withdrawal limited has had to be drastically reduced. Which in one way reduces out CENT related tickets ( Stuck withdrawals) But on the other creates more ( Customers upset it takes a lenghty amount of time and patience to withdrawal their funds.

We had overwhelming support tickets with users who have missing deposits. Either by them not being on the correct chain and not being able to sync with us our our wallet getting on on the wrong chain again

We find ourselves redownloading and rebuilding the wallet far too often. We are unable to ensure users funds can be deposited and withdrawal reliably. And our main goal is to ensure the safety of our users funds And their ability to access them reliably

As you can see theses are issues that can and are being addressed by the development team. The input build up is onf no concern to the average user. But for us would take time to fix and clear the inputs. It just does not fit well with our system or future plans for the exchange

Keeping up with CENT updates:

There has been some confusion about this. We have monitored the github repository and updated cryptsy wallets to all of the latest versions as they were released.

I had previously instructed users to use my block crawler at http://altexplorer.info/chains/CENT/block_crawler.php as a reference to where cryptsys wallet was. I did some server upgrades and restored from a previous backup. Turns out the backup used had an out of date penniesd which may have caused this confusion. It has been corrected now

Conflicts with future update to trade engine/ balance storage system:

The sheer number of coins and the fact they are not divisible conflicts with some major updates we have planned for the exchange. We feel these updates will greatly improve the overall user experience and a number of things about the existing platform had to be changed for CENT and would not work as is with the new system

No customers funds will be taken from this situation Withdrawals are open and will remain until Friday Feb 28th 2014 . Once the wallet is taken offline the process will be manual and will take much longer. We HIGHLY advise you to remove your funds before this date to avoid frustration from a lengthy recovery time

There are several other exchanges trading CENT as well as various online services if you do not want to withdrawal funds to a local wallet. Although a local wallet is always the most secure.

We ensure you this was not an easy decision and much thought was put into it. We wish nothing but the best for the minters, traders and the currency itself. We are open to reevaluating the situation in the future.

Hi Guys,
Why are some coins BTC value in bold blue while some are not? What does this mean? Oh and do you have an ETA of when the ADT swap will occur?

Are you talking about on the balance page? Think I see what you mean just verifying.

ADT swap is in the works now lots of coins to move could be a bit.
777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Official] Cryptsy News and Info thread *moderated* on: February 26, 2014, 01:26:54 AM
Hi John,

The other day, I had an issue in which a negative balance showed up out of the blue. There was some strange stuff going on, coins missing, etc...

Anyway, "Jim" fixed it in less than 2 hours. I thought since you are used to hearing negative stuff all the time you should hear something good for a change.

I was seriously impressed by Jim's professionalism and service.

Great to hear Jim is our Customer Service manager and a great guy all around. We hope to have all customers issues resolved or at least responded to under an hour and we will continue to hire more agents until we do.
778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Official] Cryptsy News and Info thread *moderated* on: February 26, 2014, 12:57:38 AM
Wanted to throw out there since we get lots of questions.

Is Cryptsy at risk from transaction malleability?

Short answer is no since we do not auto resend tx's from forked chains etc if a withdraw fails with a txid it will not go out.

Longer version (Bad part for customer and Cryptsy)
- Because of this if you requested coins into a fork and we sent them it typically take a bit longer to manually resend your coins. As the TX has to be verified and manually resent into the correct chain.
- This creates tickets that take more time to process than others. Some reasons being explorers for a coin not working correctly etc. But bottom line is each is verified.
- Your still debited the coin (yes sucks for both you and Cryptsy) as we have to manually make the changes.

If this issue has affected you we are working through them and you will get your coin.

*EDIT Just found out Paul wrote a way more elegant blog on this. http://blog.cryptsy.com
779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Official] Cryptsy News and Info thread *moderated* on: February 25, 2014, 11:47:28 AM
I see Smartcoin has been added on cryptsy. A lot of people have already deposited smartcoins, transactions are pending with 100+ confirmations but not credited to the account.

Do you have an ETA for when Smartcoin will be up and running on cryptsy?

Thanks!
The deposit process on Smartcoin has a couple issues you should be good now. Make sure you have a support ticket in.

We should throw some effort behind bottlecaps. Abe explorer be a good start. Coin spawned about 12 coins it deserves some love.
