I'm going to have to look into some hosting solutions, these block parties are pretty cool.

You think Avalon is better hardware or better software or both?
Since Avalon uses the latest cgminer and listens to Kano and ck and works with them I'm sure they would say the software is better.  The hardware is slightly less efficient power wise than the S7, but to me it is worth supporting Avalon because of how they support cgminer.

good catch but look at upper right and see date is last year OCT 29 ,2015
Phil, how is the best share for that 9.2TH after 17 hours running only 995?  Or is that the infamous Bitmain bestshare reporting bug?
782  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: March 09, 2016, 05:37:03 PM
If you want to run updated software then you need to review the included ReadMe file and script with the correct commands.
And rather than 4.9.0 you should try using 4.9.2, it had updates specific for the U3 in it.  Do not use 4.9.1, though, it will not recognize the U3 (bug).

After the show of LA Lakers vs GSW the bookies appreciate them too much, and made a discount with the line today. I pick Orlando -3.5 @ 1.9 with high confidence.
Yup, books have been making a big deal out of that one game, can place some smart bets today if you are paying attention!  Good luck.

Anyway, where to post those what they call "constructive post"? and can someone show me what it looks like of a constructive post?
If you have to ask something like this then you do not belong in a signature campaign.
785  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: March 09, 2016, 12:43:47 AM
One of my computers has issues with USB miners (U3, nanofury stick, compac, you name it), I would generally prefer miners to use ethernet connections.  Not sure if I'm in the minority or majority on this one...
786  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: diff thread Mar 3 to Mar 17? picks are closed.... Setting it up prize = 0.1 btc on: March 09, 2016, 12:33:06 AM
Well I found this story about a new bitcoin mine opeing up in Ghana, http://www.coindesk.com/africa-internet-pioneer-bitcoin-mining-ghana/, but at the end they only claim to have a capacity of "several hundred terahash" which wouldn't show up on a network difficulty adjustment.  Of course they could be underselling their capacity... or there could be multiple "small" mines coming online.
787  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: March 09, 2016, 12:29:27 AM
My R1 ran with Crazyguys software for a while while I had a U3 that it was controlling, but once the U3 died there wasn't a reason for me to keep the R1 running to it's filed away in my drawer with other obsolete hardware.  I would have never run it with Bitmain's factory settings because I was concerned about where it was pointed and what it was actually mining, but that's not a concern with Crazyguy software.

I used the plug adapter, too, but mostly as a standoff on my power strip so I could access the plug next to where the R1 was plugged in.

Sweet, so that will update cgminer on the S5 to 4.9.0?  Love it, going to do it when I get home, thanks everyone!

Cold weather moving through, I turned my S5 around to intake from outside and overclocked it - currently running at #5 spot on the leader board.  Cool
790  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining project with S7 and solar panels on: March 08, 2016, 07:28:42 AM
but if the sun has a great power on the morning with the same power you can cover all day and having soem for the night
Also depends how far north (or south) of the equator you are.  Plenty of people are close enough to the arctic circle that they get extended hours of daylight for a big part of the year.
791  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: diff thread Mar 3 to Mar 17? picks are closed.... Setting it up prize = 0.1 btc on: March 08, 2016, 03:51:27 AM
Looking at the graphs that are available, whatever was turned on right at the adjustment is still on, that hash looks pretty constant and it might not go away.  Hopefully that will be the only addition and diff will stay ~ level this period.
792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: March 08, 2016, 12:26:13 AM
This just in, Bitfury has tied the release date and sales of their 16nm miners to when Valve releases Half-Life 3, we should see them "any day now"!

 Roll Eyes

As to the solar discussion, when I move here shortly I am going to look into a solar setup, but what it will not be is grid-tied.  I don't like the power company telling me what I can and can't do and I'm not going to help their cause by selling them my power that I generated.  I'm going to use it all, it's mine mine mine!
793  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: March 08, 2016, 12:04:30 AM
Question regarding "Auto cash out", does the pool not send out payments unless the auto cash out feature is enabled?  I am assuming payouts are only done manually using "send coins" unless we select auto cash out, but I did not see this written out anywhere.  Thanks!

You can choose whether to use auto cash out or "send coins".

Auto cash out is free, but has a 0.01 BTC minimum.

"Send coins" has a small fee, but you can send tiny amounts.

Perfect, just the info I was looking for, thank you.  I think I will set up auto-payment for now.  I do like having the choice, either get normal payouts or sweep up the dust!
794  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [50TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) - New Promotion! on: March 08, 2016, 12:02:40 AM
When a block is found the payout cron calculates everybody's share and applies it to your balance.  If you have setup automatic payments, then if your balance is above the threshold, your balance will be sent to you when the block confirms.  If you haven't setup auto payouts, then you have to do a manual payout.  When you request the manual payment, the pool will create the transaction and send you the amount you requested.

Perfect, thanks.  It appears that the same 0.0001 fee is added for either manual or autopayment, correct?  I guess I'm not seeing the benefit to manual payment and will set up auto.

I have a question that I do not see an answer to on the website or first posts of this thread, how is payout handled when the pool finds a block?  Is it sent out automatically, or do we have to manually request a payment?  Thanks, just planning ahead for block #4.  Cool

I'll probably send back the last BTC someone said was for the S5, one day - I've never done the S5.
Gotcha, thanks for the update/recap.  I will say that those of us that still use S5s are sad you won't have time to redo cgminer for them, but it is completely understandable.  Guess that means I'll have to get an Avalon for my next miner.  Cool
798  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 165 blocks solved! on: March 07, 2016, 08:30:14 PM
I do have a small operation of my own stuff that never does anything, 2 x S3+'s and a Terraminer IV.  Never seem to break 1B on the share, been running those for about 3 months.
Congrats on another solo solve!

You should ditch your pair of S3+ and get an S5, it will use way less power and hash more than those two units.

Nice to instantly pop-up on pool stats Smiley
I know right?  It's fun to point one miner here and be in the top 10 hashers!   Grin

Now let's just hope this 50TH hits a block!  My S5 really wants to generate a payout for me.
800  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: March 07, 2016, 08:17:02 PM
I suspect most, if not all, of the S7s they are selling right now are what they've been running in their mines for a while and so the reduced price reflects the "used" nature of the devices without them coming out and selling them as "used".  The next gen of chips in on the horizon, so they want to get as much out of these as they can.

I can't wait for the S7 used market to take off in the coming months, then I can get one.  I hope to see them around ~$200 used soon. Smiley
