The bragging type will eventually brag enough to be caught. The only question is will he brag enough?

Pay bitcoin and see your total balance in the convenience of your browser! Bitcoind and initial configuration required.

==Homepage==

http://kibabase.com/projects/chrome-bitcoin

Homepage is pretty undeveloped at the moment. Will update it with tutorial and how to use it.
==07/20/12 Release==

Popup.html now have link to a transaction page which list the last ten transaction from oldest to newest.
==07/13/12 Release==
0.0.4 is released. Some of the changes are:

*Add last transaction in the popup. Examples are: "Last receive: 0.3" and "Last spent: 1.0"
*Removed a whole file since it wasn't working anymore and wasn't impacting any functionality.
==07/06/12 Release==

0.0.3 is released. Some of the changes are:

*When your daemon is down or the options you input is incorrect, it will show a link to the option page within the popup.
*Further code cleanup

==Original Announcement==

After a few days of struggling, I finally got the extension working again. It only does really basic functionality like get balance and send bitcoin as I was only focused on getting it working again.

==Requirement==

You will need bitcoind and a properly configured bitcoin.conf with its password and username. In addition, you will also need to configure the bitcoin extension to use said password and username to connect to the bitcoind. (I know this is a few steps too many) This extension needs testing and it is recommended that you do not keep more than a handful coins for use.

==Development==

As far as development goes, I plan to update the extension at least every Friday with new features and bugfixes. It is also open source and I welcome contribution.

Github page:

https://github.com/kiba/chrome-bitcoin

==Donation==

If you like my extension, consider donating to 1MT6zn6r2QeCmXWk45c6dL6wmaCAL6ZrRU. My goal is 300 dollars worth of bitcoin. Right now, I have zero bitcoin worth zero dollars. I am 0% in reaching my goal. This will help pay for the rent.

Thank you for raising the point I was hoping would come to the fore. I accept I may be economically illiterate but I have read Mises (who I consider to be plain wrong). My point- continual growth at any level (currently wanted to be 3% p/a per economy) is fundamentally incompatible with finite resources. Why because at the basic level stuff is the asset you barter and exchange with others. When the last grain of sand has been used as an asset -what then? refering to another comment about middle age morals (not religious but social) a mans word was his bond- not any more -what a great shame!. reg.

Did you know that the earth receive more energy from the sun then we receive in one year?

Did you know that some asteroid in outer space contains at least 1 trillion dollars worth of precious metals?

Also, economic growth isn't always about using more resource. It can be that we get more out of the current resource we have.
786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BITCOIN CHIPIN is here! on: July 05, 2012, 11:40:04 AM
To make sure I fully understand this, when you contribute, the fund-raising entity gets the money. If the goal is not reached, is there any support for refunds?

I understand the desire to make a Kickstarter style system, and this is a really nice start. The next step is to upgrade the core Bitcoin software so true assurance contracts become possible - I should be able to "chip in" funds that are not taken from my wallet until the goal is reached. The protocol for this is described here

It doesn't seems to be a kickstarter system to me because it's more than just a fancy widget that show much money are raised.
787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. the Banks on: July 05, 2012, 06:01:03 AM
Banks are some of the scummiest and dishonest organisations around. Money laundering, market manipulation, anti-competitive practices and obscene dishonesty are their call sign. They are in bed with mafioso and Russian oligarchs.

You know what really make me rage? Anti-money laundering laws. I don't care if they launder money, but I do care if they're spying for the government without a warrant. AML essentially makes bank into unpaid spy.

But do I hate the bank for that? Not really. I hate the government. Of all the ways they choose to tax and fight crime, they chose particularly privacy destructive laws.

Is the magazine translated into Korean? This story is suspect.

What makes you think that Bitcoin will be around longer than OMC? (I’m asking this seriously, not snidely. There are no switching costs for companies that decide to stop accepting Bitcoin, whereas if you, say, stop accepting US dollars you will be cutting yourself off from a very large customer base that uses only that currency. There is no large customer base that exclusively uses Bitcoin.)

I must ask....does anybody actually use OMC? Is there anybody who actually use OMC for anything other than interacting in virtual worlds?

* Volatility could be a big problem for grids if they collect rent in Bitcoin but pay for their server space in US$ and Euros — they’d have to keep changing their rates. And any merchant who makes a real world living from in-world sales would similarly have to keep adjusting their rates.

Use bitpay or just pay your servers and domain in bitcoin.

* How will your users get Bitcoin? If they buy it from you with a credit card, and it turns out the credit card was stolen, you’ll be liable for the entire amount. But if you don’t allow people to buy Bitcoin from you, they won’t be able to play unless they can find other places to buy Bitcoin. The list of exchange that sell Bitcoin are limited and, frankly, none of them have any kind of name recognition (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade), except for Virwox itself. Most also require wire transfers or other types of payment methods that the average user isn’t going to understand. For online purchases, you want to be able to make payments with PayPal or with credit cards.

Just because you don't personally recognize them doesn't mean they are unknown. Also, a lot of transfers are done by bank transfers and bitinstant. Exchanges are always looking for better way to get your money in and out.

Paypal and credit cards are dangerous to use simply because bitcoin is non-reversiable and paypal and credit cards are.

Frankly, I should stop responding to this lady's comment. But when somebody is wrong on the internet, I wish to reply.

Then something sexier comes along — Justin Bieber, say, releases ByteCoin and gives away a free kiss to all users. What is to keep users from selling off their BitCoins and switching to ByteCoins?

Most bitcoiners are male. Either that, or the woman hates Justin Bieber.

If you see titles like this: "5 reasons to <blah>" or "Ten way <blah>", you know that the writer is desperate for traffic.
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So much lulz in this article.... (5 reasons you should avoid Bitcoin) on: July 04, 2012, 04:43:18 PM
Clearly, she need an editor herself. Or maybe she's desperate for traffic, no matter how badly written the article is?

I recommend you change your name as it is too similar to Bit-Pay.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BITCOIN CHIPIN is here! on: July 03, 2012, 04:37:02 PM
Does this site, hold on to the btcs then when the goal or time is up, it releases or does it just give the address and count the amount from a certain time?

No. It doesn't hold any bitcoin, so trust is not required. It only track addresses for you.
795  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-07-03 hypergridbusiness.com - 5 reasons grids should avoid BitCoin on: July 03, 2012, 02:19:21 PM
Would anyone like to argue that the money wasn't wasted? You can see this repeated thousands of times across Ireland. The phenomenon has been called "Ghost Estates" and they are estimated to have cost approximately €80 billion to build. All of those loans have now been added to the national debt of the country.

There's no such thing as a free lunch. (TM)

In any case, the article seems to be written in a panic or a way to pad views for the sake of padding views.
796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in-FUN-graphic on: July 03, 2012, 11:35:55 AM
NO offense. It's very painful inforgraphic. Let say it's not very easy on the eye.
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BITCOIN CHIPIN is here! on: July 03, 2012, 11:20:00 AM
I made a widget already, but I am not showing it yet. First, I need to get out a bitcoin related extension for chrome, then I can start raising money. Need to pay rent.
798  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-07-03 hypergridbusiness.com - 5 reasons grids should avoid BitCoin on: July 03, 2012, 10:53:45 AM
besides her being still trapped in the banking farytale: "If you have, say, $100 in your bank account, and the bank lends $90 of it to someone else to start a business" ...

That's only dependent on responsible monentary policies. All the insurance in the world won't protect you from idiotic bankers. It's a false sense of security.
799  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-06-29 forbes.com - Wikipedia's lame excuse for not accepting BTC on: July 01, 2012, 01:17:21 AM
If they can be picky, I guess they don't need donations very badly. No problem.

They are funded by Google, their largest donator, and it is a symbiotic relationship. Beggers can't be choosers. Always remember the Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.

800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who might realistically pose a threat to bitcoin? on: June 30, 2012, 10:14:28 PM
Bitcoin is not a threat to Banks, Banks are a threat to themselves.
If you think about it, what is a bank? Its a glorified spread sheet.
There is no proof of work behind digital money. The balance of your bank account is just a field in a database. That's it. There is no magic.

Any threat that is perceived by bitcoin simply comes from the lack of complexity by those "offended" by it.

The entire global banking system is based on 1960's technology, sure its been upgraded since, but they are just upgrading the same basic framework. No fundamental changes have been made.

Banks are too attached to their mainframe and their existing business, as well being too slow to react to anything.

If the CEO know what's good for his business, he would create a skunkwork division and plans to sell off everybody else to all the other banks once the skunkwork division is profitable.
