781  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: June 27, 2023, 08:16:55 PM
Some little advice for some poorly fed troll, Kyiv was conquered in under 3 hours, the Russian army destroyed 3 times all of the NATO, Commonwealth, Black Hole , Cardassian Order , Earth Sphere Federation , Gungan, The Host of the West and Rasalhague Kungsarmé armies, Fulda Gap was overrun in 3 weeks, Portugal was conquered 3 months into the camping and now I hear those damn rashist led by Potemkin are just 200 miles from Moscow!
No clue how to read damn fucking map but this would mean Spokane went from lilac to commie red, so how much till we go full Red Dawn?

It was the Obsidian Order, from the Cardassian Union, but I appreciate the reference.

It was fun while it lasted. I laughed when Putin said that it was a coup and a treachery. I thought it was a special Wagner operation.
In the end Putin said mercenaries can do what they want, they can join the army or go to Belarus, or go home if they want, but he hopes they'll choose to serve the country.
He wants people who wanted his head, traitors, to go home, or join the army... Scared old Vlad...
782  Economy / Services / Re: Someone Paid Me $2,500 in April And Forgot... on: June 27, 2023, 08:06:49 PM
Yea? I really used to see you as one of the reasonable fellows on this forum prior to this time. In fact, I once quoted one of your comments about an exploit in one of my blogs, perhaps, when it goes beyond computers, it isn't really your turf. That you never trust people doesn't mean there are no people who do trust. "Create reputation indeed" Not everyone is living on Bitcointalk for reputation.

But you seem to be living off bitcointalk. I'm talking about your account deals.
The way I see it, we'd next see someone come and claim they were the ones who broke a deal with you and got all the money back. These stories usually have a continuation if left to unfold in peace, but unfortunately for you too many people came to this thread and spoiled it. Back to the drawing board Tongue
783  Economy / Economics / Re: After Making Money In Bitcoin, How is Black Tax Affecting You Economically? on: June 27, 2023, 07:40:41 PM
I can't put myself in your shoes OP, because I have a very small family to take care of. My father always had some money and he's a man of small needs. I know he'll never spend his savings because of the way he lives, and even if he tried he's got enough to live a good life for another 10+ years without having to lift a finger.

I never had to support my family financially, it was rather the other way round. Nowadays I don't get anything from them, but they also don't need me, apart from the occasional help with bills and papers, which is typical for old folks.

If you're earning good money, try to give your family the rod instead of the fish. Give them a business idea, maybe help them find jobs, or buy them a place they can turn into a small store, or a food stand. A child should never be the main provider for the family. You can help them from time to time, but you should not be their slave.
Come up with an amount of money you can give them each month, and make sure this is less than 50% of what you make.
784  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: June 27, 2023, 07:24:24 PM
Are you holding fiat? Do you not know that if you are holding fiat, it is like your government are scamming you, although it is not a scam, but it is a means to lose money as your fiat money lose value and unable to buy what you can use it to buy before.

It's actually a tax on those who hold money, especially the middle class. Rich guys have investment portfolios, hold gold. The poor spend everything they get every month, so they aren't affected that much, but the middle class, the people who have some savings, but not enough to have a stock portfolio or a number of real estate properties, have to pay the tax.

Yeah, what is that saying?  Inflation is theft, taxation is robbery?

Inflation is just another form of taxation. Diluting the money supply makes everyone who holds it lose and makes all other assets gain value against the currency.

I'd use my emergency funds if I were you, but don't go to 0. When you're down to whatever you earn in a month, it should be a sign that you're getting into dangerous territory and better start looking for another job, or a property to sell. Maybe you have a spare room at home? Maybe you have 2 cars and could manage with 1?
785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on live game or while game hasn't started yet? on: June 26, 2023, 07:51:23 PM
I prefer to bet before the match. I feel like betting during the match is more chaotic and can lead to wrong decisions.

I'll give you an example. One time we were watching a game with friends and we all bet on our national team. They were losing early on, so we were all saying that we regret betting on them and it was actually 1-0 in the first half for the opponents. If I had the chance to remove the bet, after that first half I'd do it because of the atmosphere in the room where we were all hating on the team. It made their game look worse than it actually was. They ended up getting 2 goals in the second half and winning the game. You never really know who's going to win, but the game itself and the stress of it can cloud your judgement.
786  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price hitting 30k twice this year. on: June 23, 2023, 06:50:11 PM
The bitcoin price is currently at 31k and needed to break the 31k resistance level but now that bitcoin has managed to reach that price, I think the bitcoin price will continue to 33k in the near future.
bitcoin is expected to continue its bullish trend in July and it is possible that the price will be higher than in August and we can be sure that in August the bitcoin price will decrease slightly, maybe it will return to the price of 26k-25k or again.
and this is just my opinion and eventually the price of bitcoin will rise again, and some positive news related to bitcoin could be one of the main sentiments in preparation for next year's bitcoin halving.

Resistances tend to move. They are just levels that we failed to break the last time, but it could have been due to the fact that there was a large seller setting up a wall of coins at that level and we kept bouncing off, but that seller doesn't have to be there now, a few weeks later. Don't forget that the SEC attacked Binance and many people took money out of exchanges, so there was much less liquidity on the market compared to a April when prices were pumping for the first time.

Wait for us to break 32k because above that there's no known resistance level up to 40k, so if we can stay above 32k, we'll poke the low 40s for sure.
I think it's inevitable this year that we do it.
787  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Investors Confidence in Bitcoin💪 on: June 23, 2023, 06:30:41 PM
I hope it keeps going up but I treat it only as a confidence booster. I don't care if it goes up or down tomorrow because I'm not going to sell.
They'd have to offer me a lot of money, like maybe 100k+ right now for me to touch my stash and then I still wouldn't dump it, maybe sell 10% just to have fun, like I always do in the bull runs.
Having fun and spending some profits gives me energy to endure next bear markets without falling into despair.
788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: June 23, 2023, 06:20:54 PM
Lotteries are popular because people can't count.

It's easy for us to calculate probability when something can happen 30% of a time or 10% of a time, our brain gets that, but when you go below 0.1% it really doesn't matter. Human brain sees it as very very low possibility, but existent. Then you can decrease it to 0.0001% and the person will still say that the possibility is very low, but it's there. So the lottery creators make sure you have a very very low chance, like 1 to a few million, and tell you that the entry fee is extremely low, like $1 and you go for it because your brain tells you "what if?"
789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: June 23, 2023, 06:05:53 PM
I just don’t understand Musk’s confidence. Zuck has been actively training for MMA and Elon looks like he couldn’t run a mile to save his fortune. I think Elon’s walrus technique would land him in quite a bit of trouble with any sort of trained fighter and his age makes this to me nothing more than a troll move. If he is truly 180 pounds, Zuck would easily kick his ass, and I’m a Musk fan who hates Zuck.

Because he's a master troll. He won't fight for real. If people organize this and put this in every single media outlet he's going to capitalize on that even if he lets Zuck finish with ease and just walks away after a fast loss. He'll make the money and the press anyway. Even if the fight doesn't happen Musk will benefit.

I don't like both of them and at this point I try to make up my mind who it is that I like less. Zuck is such a weirdo with his alien looking stare. To be honest I'd rather have a beer with Elon, so go Walrus! Cheesy
790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The truth about investment (bitcoins) on: June 22, 2023, 08:01:24 PM
Investing in bitcoins is not yet a zero-sum game. As long as the value of a bitcoin continues to rise, everyone can be a winner (though some more than others).

However, when Bitcoin has reached full adoption and there is no more gain in value, then bitcoins will no longer be profitable for anyone but the traders.

It's going to take another 50 years or more before you start seeing this change and even then, bitcoin will still be profitable for miners.
If LN keeps on developing, running a node will be very profitable.
You'll probably get various custodial services popping up, where companies will offer safeguarding your bitcoin, or holding a part of a multi-sig for you.

Also, I don't believe the price will ever stabilize. It will either keep going up in the long run, or reaches its peak and begins a decline. Even after reaching 21m it's going to keep moving, just not in 4 year cycles like it is but due to increasing market penetration and adoption, like the Internet.
791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We the Bitcoin Enthusiasts, How can we Safequard our Holdings in Turbulent Times on: June 22, 2023, 07:51:36 PM
If you are using Binance for storing your coins then you need to worry about what will happen to it if anything happens to them but if you coins are in your own custody you don't need to panic a lot because they will not be lost although prices in short term can be affected to some extent but atleast the coins will be safe with you. Then after few years you could sell them at profit without even caring about these exchanges.

It's not about Binance or Coinbase, but about all exchanges and institutions.
Nowadays banks are applying for licenses to custody bitcoins for you, the latest additions being Deutsche Bank and Santander.
Investment funds want your bitcoins to create spot ETFs.

To protect your coins you have to do one simple thing: self-custody. Get a hardware wallet, keep coins away from exchanges, don't sell it to the institutions.
You'll see that in a year or two they'll come piling up, offering you ridiculous money for your coins because they can always print more fiat but they can't print bitcoin.
792  Economy / Economics / Re: SEC fighting for the publics my ass on: June 22, 2023, 07:40:08 PM

For real? Now this will confuse many people that thinks that SEC are fight for the public, I knew they are trying to benefit from.crypto, but some fools still believe that they are trying to save us from the hands of people like FTX, now this is all you are gonna get..

SBF was working with the SEC, which is why they're dropping charges against him and he's in house arrest.
You should ask yourselves why a person who let the world know about US covert operations had to leave the country or he'd be facing life in prison and a person who stole billions under the nose of US government is released on bail.
793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: June 22, 2023, 07:14:20 PM
It's a very hard question if you try to answer with honesty.
If I knew I could 100% get away with it and it was 100% a working exploit, I'd probably try it out. What could go wrong? I know this would technically be stealing, but I'd try it for the thrill of it with a little bit of money. I wouldn't probably keep doing it, the way that I'd keep funneling money from the game to fund a lavish lifestyle, but I wouldn't mind trying it out to see if I could get a free hundred or two.

If there was a way to report a bug or exploit and get a reward I'd rather do that though.
794  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Casinos Go Bankrupt Because of Player Wins? on: June 21, 2023, 06:43:36 PM
It's really about if the casino is actually going to pay you like what makishart said. If you get extremely lucky that they will honor your win and pay all of it then expect them to do it in installment payments. This will help them build that bankroll and stay up. You still take an L on this since you won't get everything in one go and use it immediately but it's better than nothing.

That's right. They will fight you if that happens and it doesn't happen a lot because casinos have max bets and calculate max bonus you can get in a single game. If a casino is small and new, they aren't going to allow you to bet something like 50% of their bankroll in a single bet, or they will do it, but get ready to shut down and scam you if you win, because if they are new and their whole bank is a million dollars and you were somehow allowed to win 500k, it's easier for them to shut down and rebuild the site than pay you.

A big casino will take that risk, but they will have much more than a million dollars in the bank. If a reputable casino allows you to win big, they can afford it.
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto another form of gambling? on: June 21, 2023, 06:31:35 PM
Yes, it is, if you're investing in shitcoins.

Some people will disagree and say that all of this is trading and trading isn't gambling, but how do you trade pump and dump tokens? How do you trade scams like bitconnect? Is risking money buying crypto MLMs trading, or is it gambling? Is buying coins with large premine investing, or gambling? The insiders can dump 20% of the supply on you at any moment and you won't be able to do anything. That's not trading.

It's the same when people trade with very high leverage like on okex that allowed 100x. That's gambling, nothing else.
796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Fun Fact] Is Gold scarce ? Bitcoin is ! on: June 21, 2023, 06:24:10 PM
There's a lot of gold deep within our planet, the only problem is that we don't have efficient ways of getting it out. When the digging operation exceeds the value of gold mined it's pointless to try.
What would have to happen for us to increase the supply? One of two things.
Either the demand would have to be very high, but for that we'd have to start using much more gold to produce electronics (or go back to using gold coins for payment), that's one, or the cost of deep mining would have to go down so that we could start accessing new deposits.
797  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: June 21, 2023, 06:04:45 PM
There are rumors that Mihailo Podoliak is next.
Don't want to disappoint you, but Budanov is alive, he is doing fine and sending some greetings:
https://t.me/joker_ukr/8386
Podolyak is next? Maybe, but this joke was fun first two times, now it's getting boring.

Meanwhile, while Russians are claiming unconfirmed kills, it admits to its own losses. This time confirmed.

Russia has confirmed the death of the Chief of Staff of the 35th Army of the Armed Forces, Major General Sergei Goryachev in Ukraine.

798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BlackRock and Fidelity both apply for bitcoin ETFs on: June 20, 2023, 02:55:34 PM
Assets under the management of the two companies are impressive, but one should not think that a significant part of these funds will start spilling over into BTC if the SEC approves that spot ETF at all. We thought that futures BTC ETF would have some impact on the price, and today no one mentions them anymore.

It's one thing to have a financial instrument that will make it easier for big investors to invest more easily, but something else is to convince them that Bitcoin is something they should invest in.

There was a futures impact on the price - it went down.
The futures ETF was launched in the middle of the bitcoin's bull run and many people say that the run was cut short exactly because of that launch.
When you give big investors, who never wanted to buy bitcoin in the first place, a chance to short it you can expect they'll take this chance.
Bitcoin went from 20 to 60k in a few months of 2021, so it was obvious an asset that made 3x is going to be shorted by traditional investors who don't care about tech and want to make a quick buck.

The main difference between futures and spot is that to launch spot they need to own some bitcoin, so if blackrock gets the SEC to approve the price will pump. How much we can only guess, but I'm sure we'll go above this years high, to the high 30s, or higher.
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Be Badly Hurt if Binance Goes Down? on: June 20, 2023, 02:38:38 PM
What is not in doubt is that CZ is supposedly one of the most credible faces of crypto.

You must be reading too much crypto mainstream articles. CZ iz by no means a prominent, or credible figure. Take his involvement in FTX drama as an example.
I don't like the SEC but CZ is not a clean guy. He's making a lot of money from listings and he lists all the shitcoins that pump when the news of them being lister comes out and then bleed to eventually be reduced into nothing and delisted.

Quote
How much harm do you think a Binance implosion would cause Bitcoin? Is the US a big threat to the coin market?

It depends what people holding bitcoin on Binance would do. If they'd dump it all the price would crash, but they could also move it out of the exchange without selling.
The honeybadger will still be there doing its thing. In 2020 the price crashed and in 2021 made a new high like it was nothing.

800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: June 19, 2023, 09:02:30 PM
No, I don't really care, although it depends on the person accusing me of being an addict, whether I care about this person's opinions. If someone random says I'm an addict, I won't even try to explain it to them that I'm not and they're wrong. If it's someone I'm friends with, the situation changes.

It's hard to answer this in a short post, as it all depends on the circumstances.
