Thank you for the idea but I can use "start-many" from a controller wallet already. What I want is to restart the masternode without needing to run a controller wallet at all. e.g. a curl request from local->VPS to the masternode that would start it. If I get the chance I will have a look more into the code and try to see if it's even possible.

i talked to someone about it, their concern was leaving the rpc port open so anyone could use it.

then theoretically you could communicate with yr vps daemon in a standard browser using
http://mojorpcuser:rpcpassword@vps.ip.x.x:rpcport command

i say theoretically cos i briefly tried it, but my port is closed and i dont have time to mess with it :p

then possible curl command (which i do not grok)

Code:
curl --user user --data-binary '{"jsonrpc": "1.0", "id":"curltest", "method": "getinfo", "params": [] }' -H 'content-type: text/plain;' [:vps ip]:[rpcport]/

OK I need help. I was trying to setup a MN last night and sent 200k to the address created in the console. I couldn't get the MN started and so how do I get my coins back? The total amount in the wallet is correct by not in coin control. I guess they are locked now in that address. How do I get them back out so I can stake them?

Try shutting down the wallet, delete the masternode.conf file (or rename it if you want to keep a backup), then restart the wallet.

yes, I did that and I even saved my wallet.dat file and deleted roaming folder and did a full resync. Still not available. heeeeelp!! I hope I didn't just lose 200k.

check in the explorer, see if the coins show up to that address

get the address you sent the coins to, eg M123xxxxxxxxxxxxetcetc
go to the debug console, and get the privkey
dumpprivkey M123xxxxxxxxxxxxetcetc

this will give you the private key, if you have that key, means that address is in the wallet but possibly not showing up properly.

sounds a bit odd though if you have done a full resync. did you remember to keep the original wallet.dat in the datadirectory when you did the resync??

I am running a masternode daemon on a VPS, setup per the excellent guide, with a separate local GUI wallet as the "controller" which I need to fire up to get the "masternode started remotely" message. I use windows for the local wallet and it works just fine.

But instead of needing to start the local wallet I am wondering if there is a way to restart the masternode remotely by typing a single command on my local linux box, sending a properly constructed request to the daemon ip:port to start the masternode (in other words, restarting the masternode remotely without needing to run a local "controller" wallet).

I see no reason it can't be done, although perhaps I am missing something. I will donate 30k MOJO to the first person who can give the community a working bash/php/python script for linux that can start a masternode remotely in place of the GUI wallet. Or maybe it's too tough a goal?

i use a cron job.
i have the daemon on a vps and the masternode stops randomly so every hour i send it a start many

Cheesy for fun, here's the ★BUMBA★ from my sig,
not as large as mine so hopefully will fit in other users profile sig space.
put it in yr
forum profile information under the Profile tab above..

if it's still too big, then reduce the size and see what it looks like Cheesy

BUMBA

i noticed the OSX Supercoin-qt available here  http://www.the-node.net/wallets/SUPER is not static

so here's a version which is

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5j8d4FSc7drSERnWUpyNE9nT2M

you need to create a supercoin.conf in yr datadir for this qt to start. it just crashes without it.

I also just noticed the custom send address (at least on the mac wallet) does not work.
There is a similar problem in the Mojocoin wallet, so it seems it comes from the codebase ...

i just noticed on the macwallet at least, the custom change address in the send tab does not work
just goes to random change address, seemingly as if one never clicked the box ..

am testing another similar wallet to see if it's mojo specific or not. but it won't bloody send anything . lol

ok. ExclusiveCoin (another transfer clone) has same problem it seems.

I am trying to build a mac wallet-qt but it won't run.
compiles ok (apart from .plist issues Smiley)

crash on error

Code:
assertion failed: (!pthread_mutex_lock(&m)), function lock, file /opt/local/include/boost/thread/pthread/recursive_mutex.hpp, line 110.

i tried using this fix, but it brings up a whole swathe of new errors, will try again tomorrow
https://github.com/rat4/blackcoin/issues/39

edit. i also did an amusing little pull request on the git Smiley

what boost are you using to build 1.55?

tried 1.55 and 1.57

tis all good now.
i must have been tired and couldn't manage to clean it properly or summat.
used that blackcoin commit to fix.

block 84.000 is near three days before the estimated term  Grin

Yes, I know, the block time has been creeping down towards 30 seconds lately although the target time is 60 seconds. I am looking into this. I want to see what happens post-fork and see how the network behaves now that there are fixes in place. If the block time keeps around the 30m second mark we will have to consider a fix for this in the next release. This is not a major issue right now but we need a slower block time to prevent a massive blockchain to quickly. Under consideration...

i have observed quite a few hybrid coins go far quicker than target time.
i assume that the difficulty adjustments don't really know how to cope between the two Smiley

820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]--★★BumbaCoin★★-- POS X11 on: August 22, 2016, 04:58:12 AM
there's a bootstrap available https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ybddgds0rws9idk/AABf10JXK6jFAFwb-Imn5cfba?dl=0

download the newest version (i have uploaded a new version i'll try and update i teh next few hours to current)
unzip.
rename to bootstrap.dat
put it in yr datadirectory and start yr wallet.

when it finishes it will rename it to bootstrap.dat.old (or something similar)
sometimes it doesnt sync all the way, if it doesnt, you can rename to bootstrap.dat and repeat the process..

also sometimes the wallet will only sync (from the network) in blocks of 500, annoying, but you can restart it repeatedly until it starts syncing properly again :p

i'm also working on a blockchain snapshot, which will be much easier to handle (and sync) than the bootstrap
(i hit a snag with ubuntu default versioning of berkely db being incompatible with the qt versioning).

..
it does look like some fork action has occurred .. how to check if yr forked.
(basically, compare your blockhash with another blockhash - if they're differnt, you're forked)

go to debug page, see what yr last block is eg 905222
go to console, enter
Code:
getblockhash 905222

go to bumba explorer http://blockchain.bumbacoin.com/
enter the output above (ie the blockhash in the console output) into the search field and press return
if you're on a fork, your blockhash will be different to the explorer AND the explorer will not be able to find your hash

alternatively, enter the block number into the search field, you can see the blockhash on the explorer where it says
BUMBA block: f9600fde25a0eeae0827a43c1cd84d65cbcf8580a29aca0788060ee014dc6ace

see if it matches yours.
