I have had to sign NDA's for secure work involving the military. I can't tell you what for, but I can say that not every secret is sexy. Whoever really buys toilet paper at Langley would get canned for saying what brand they use, even though no one cares.
It was put to me this way: The new paradigm is; "I could tell you, but I would have to sue you."

Learn to use a computer?
It could happen to anyone.

If I had a bank account with $12.5 million in cash I would feel free also. It's not unfounded. Money =  more choices. Choices = freedom.

There is certainly an awful history of suffering and pain between Muslims and the west. However I would guess that many offenses are not intentional, rather based on misunderstanding.
Apparently that was not the case with this recent film insulting Islam. It appears to be made specifically to insult Muslims. I watched as much of the "film" as I could. It's super low quality production, laughable really. Clearly God has already punished these film makers.  Wink
8005  Other / Off-topic / Re: Have you ever encountered other beings or aliens? on: September 27, 2012, 03:34:12 PM
It's not that I don't want to believe. But look at the "evidence" sighted. An observation of something weird in the sky in the 1500's becomes a UFO battle in the sky. A Mayan Steele depicting a ruler on a throne is re-imagined as a man operating a spaceship.  Did a Mayan scholar come up with this? Or a NASA spaceship expert? No. It takes a "UFO researcher" to find a alien spaceship; just as it takes a bigfoot-oligist to see big foot everywhere, and why a believer in ghosts can find a haunted place every weekend while real scientists have never seen one instance of such a thing.
Find me a piece of a spaceship made from unknown material (strong evidence). Find me a repeating  patterned signal from space (weaker evidence) or a microbe based on something other than DNA or transcript RNA (close to proof).
I wana believe. But I am not one to delude myself.
8006  Other / Off-topic / Re: Have you ever encountered other beings or aliens? on: September 25, 2012, 07:10:09 PM
Sorry, but it's just not true. Sure people see UFO's all the time (unidentified flying object). But not one single time in all of history did it turn out to be a spaceship from another planet. Not one single time in all of science has a living thing been found anyplace but Earth.
As a scientist myself I don't discount the possibility that a ship could land tomorrow. It may even be likely that life exists elsewhere. But I also operate on evidence. There has never been any evidence of such a thing. Evidence is not a blurry photo or a crackpot website.

What is your opinion of the Wow! signal? Do you find the water oceans of Europa to be more interesting than the deserts of Mars? Do you find the ongoing research to analyze the light spectrums of transiting planets fascinating? Do you think Maccone's FOCAL mission might ultimately answer the age old question?
Now your talking real science. Of course the wow signal was not conclusive but a project like SETI is a sensible approach. Looking for radio waves may make it possible to locate civilizations light years away.
Another strategy is to look for  Earth like planets. This seems flawed to me however. Having only one example of life, -(all living things are just variations of the DNA molecule, and really the same living thing)- we don't know if it is typical or very exotic. Perhaps most life in space exists in stars or in the frozen depths of deep space. We don't know because we have never seen another form of life, ever.

Let's just ignore the fact that in all of human history not one time has this been documented to happen. For whatever reason, the aliens choose to only contact fringe element weirdos who believe in them. one would think they would contact scientists. Roll Eyes

Anybody have a Mosin Nagant to sell me in Texas?

I can't bother with FFL. 18 here.
If your 18 can't you just buy it at a gunshop? Hell, your in Texas. Can't you just buy it at a gas station?

I think we need to start subtracting post count for posts like this.  Angry

I don't know who ubrixorg is, but I now know not to do business with him/her. If he cheats on post count what will he do with bitcoins and their accompanying temptations.

Cool, I'm going to read more about this when I get home.  I like the "social marketplace" aspect. One can envision a craigslist meets twitter marketplace. Sweet!

You can still use bitcoin even if you are not synced. However you will not see confirmation until you are caught up with the blockchain. I keep a few coins on my wife's computer and use it sometimes. But I make no real effort to stay synced. I just turn it on once and a while when the computer is on but not being used.

As far as dropbox and encryption. Remember that encryption only buys you time, decrypting is always possible. Someone could get to your drop box account and download everything. Then systematically go through your files to figure out which is the wallet.dat file. Then begin in earnest to break your encryption. It may take weeks, but if this is a wallet you are not using you may not know till it's too late.

MintChip sucks! Not only did they lie about who won, but the winning entry is a lie also. MintChip can not be used to make anonymous donations. What a crock of $h!t  Angry

Is what you're saying that it's okay to kill a living baby and take it's heart, kidney, liver or any other part because some rich family has a sick kid they want to heal by any means possible ?

The bank did not do this on purpose.

The guy who killed my grandparents while drunk driving said exactly the same thing; "I didn't wreck into them on purpose".

I'm not saying they are not responsible, just that this is a mistake.
IMO, There is nothing evil about harvesting and selling baby organs for a profit. The motive is profit, not producing suffering. It is awful, but I think of evil as trying to produce suffering even at your expense. The afore mentioned baby organ seller would just as gladly make funny faces for babies to enjoy if there were any money in it.
The balance to banks taking everything from us used to be government. Now they are just a wholly owned division of Wall St. It's up to us now. If you have a bank account close it and move to a credit union; if you have a credit card cancel it and stop using credit. (credit is a sin and considered evil by Christianity and Islam). Next get your credit score to "unscoreable". Unless you do these things, you are the reason that evil exists in banking.
I am playing devils advocate. But consider that you might have a baby animal killed for a pair of shoes. I don't think you hate cows or want them to suffer, and I would not call you evil for wearing leather shoes. The cows however might consider you an abomination.
8018  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No, World War 3 is indeed coming. The US Dollar will likely collapse at the end. on: September 17, 2012, 08:17:04 PM
...if you think the US military is going to win and dominate the world

Does not the U.S. have the most bad-azz military on the planet because we spend more money on it than anyone else?

Did not the U.S.A just complete a hundred years of swapping dictators, crushing rebellions, and building a global corporate fascist empire the size of which Queen Victoria and Joseph Goebbels could only dream of?

Does not the U.S.A. hold more physical gold than any other nation on this planet?

Does not Hollywood have greater mind-controlling influence than any other institution on the globe?

Whether your fiat is ye olde Dollars, hot Ameros, or Weyland Corp. GloboCredits is irrelevant ...the U.S.A. comes out on top because we are better predators.
Do we not get owned by irregular fighters in pajamas?
Our accent to world dominance is because WW2 destroyed all our competition. The next century will belong to China.

This was not the evil banks being evil

It's a prime example. What are you smoking?
The bank did not do this on purpose. Banks are not evil, they are heartless and act in the interest of profitability. This will cost money and the mistake was not even made by the bank. Or are you guys arguing that despite the waste of time and money the bank did this just to be mean?
