823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 07, 2020, 03:52:10 PM
In reality England has taken Corona a lot lighter than any other country. When all other countries held Champions League matches behind close door, Liverpool was playing against Atletico Madrid in the stadium full of supporters. I know situation then was not as worse as today but still authorities should have been more alert. I believe many Spanish fans traveled to Liverpool for the match too.

I don't see Premier League returning this season. This season will be dismissed most probably. Even English Prime Minister is suffering from Corona and is in critical condition. Let's hope for the best!

825  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: block.io alternatives on: April 06, 2020, 06:40:30 PM
CoinPayments API should do the job. I believe they only charge a fee (0.50%) when you're accepting payments but not for withdrawals.

They charge fees on transfer of funds too.

On-chain transfers i.e. withdrawal to personal address is done free and they only charge network fees (which is high as well, for example, they charge 12 DOGE per transaction for Dogecoin which is 6 times the average dogecoin fees on other wallets).

Off-chain transfers are done @ 0.50% (this is what I think OP is looking for).

826  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: April 06, 2020, 05:31:33 AM
I'm out already, webtricks won like the first 20 hands played at our table.
Had to risk it to have any chance of coming back in the game, went all in with A7 hearts, A flipped but was paired against AA. Better early on than late, right? Grin

I was really enjoying the game but received the message from my GF at 12:15AM. God knows when I promised her that we will binge watch a series at 12:30AM. As a result, I tried to bet on every hand to complete as soon as possible and lost everything quite soon.  Embarrassed

Will make sure nothing of that sort happens next week.  Cheesy

Can I still join and play the series today onwards?

829  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Creators of Dicing | 40 Billion Bets | 112+ BTC Jackpot! on: April 03, 2020, 05:55:26 AM
As I was going through the provably fair implementation on Primedice yesterday, I noticed this line:

// we have reached the end of the hash and they all must have been ffffff

Isn't this line misleading?

As per the script, loop will move to next set of hex value if the integer value of previous set is 1000000 and more. The hex value of 106 is f4240 which means if the set of hex is f4240 and more then the loop will move to next set of hex.

So, this hash should be the lowest value for which loop will generate the different result:
Code:
f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f4240f423e

Any value from the above hash till the last hash i.e. the following hash will return 99.99:
Code:
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

It isn't required that the hash must all been ffffff.

832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question about Private Keys on: March 31, 2020, 06:40:57 PM
Are you sure you're not confused between private key and Bitcoin address? If you meant Bitcoin address, the raw data is available on Bitcoin's blockchain and all you need to do is process the data.
But if you meant private key, then such information isn't exist publicly.

I am sure he meant private key and there can be only two reasons why someone would ask for such information:

1. Either to claim forked coins which I don't think anybody will leave before making private key public.
2. Or to personify as the holder of that address and make more transactions. People have used this method to show proofs on Bitcoin Doubler Scam sites in past.

Except those two reasons if OP genuinely needs used private keys for educational purpose then he should better ask his query on forum to get easy answer rather than trying to figure out himself through private keys.

Well there is one popular private key available in public domain and had some prior transactions on associated Bitcoin Address which is:

Private Key (WIF Uncompressed): 5KUN8s42BCTkQVMTy3oFfqeXE8awVskbDi6XbDMpRnFvHJW9fgk
Bitcoin Address: 1ADJqstUMBB5zFquWg19UqZ7Zc6ePCpzLE

This is a private key generated with the hex of English word 'satoshi'.
833  Economy / Economics / Re: Will India be more progressive in the coming years? on: March 31, 2020, 05:50:31 PM
Nobody seem to be talking about the newly elected government in India. India just had there election I think so and the way the crypto adoption will go depends on the new system at hand. So if the system is in line with cryptocurrency transactions, then will simply know the dimension as simple as that vice versa.

No pal, last general elections in India were held in May 2019. Moreover, same political party has been re-elected so there is no change in the outlook towards Bitcoin from Indian government.

Current government has a view that cryptocurrencies is dangerous for investors and can promote money laundering and corruption. But at the same time, it is well-aware that cryptocurrencies have already spread among large population so completely banning them will create havoc among people. So it formed a committee in 2017 to deeply think what kind of regulations can be issued for the usage of cryptocurrencies.

Moreover, after Supreme Court's recent judgement, Indian government is more pressurized to not issue blanket ban on cryptocurrencies. I don't think we will hear anything on cryptocurrencies from Indian government for next 2-3 years at least so anyone who likes to start crypto based venture in India is most welcome. No-regulation situation will help you to do business as well as save lots of tax by choosing appropriate Income Tax sections according to your business.
834  Local / India / Re: Living on Crypto in India — A real life scenario on: March 31, 2020, 04:34:56 PM
They are taking 4% more than the price for vouchers. Checked the price of buying a 5000 voucher and noticed I had to pay Rs. 5200 for the same. It's obvious this would happen as they take into account volatility too but it ends up being too expensive.

Are you sure? I checked mobile recharge coupon yesterday and charges were 1.9% on top of fiat value which I think is acceptable since withdrawing money to bank via WazirX and other modes cost almost same or more than that.

Also the registrant details are hidden so could not get much from there. If at all the site is genuine, it would make a great site for exchanging bitcoins for such vouchers.

Indeed. This website will be on my radar too. Let's see how good it is once market comes back to normal. If it is genuine site then using bitcoin will become lot easier for petty expenses.

Since the crypto ban is lifted in India, I feel, we need a service like Bitpay in India, where people can order a prepaid visa card which can be used in any POS terminal in India. That will really help in adoption.

That would be such a life saver service. However, I doubt even if a company starts this venture in India, such card will be declined for most of the services. I once used a service that goes by the name of 'Ewire' and generates virtual debit card. However, almost every site where I tried to use that card declined my card. At last I used that card balance to recharge my mobile on Ewire app itself.

is this service exclusive to India or also present for other countries?

It's worldwide (some countries are exception like NK), but works in most of countries. You can change country on homepage and also paying via LN gives 2% discount.

Thanks for looking into that for me.
835  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do miners affect the price of Bitcoin? on: March 31, 2020, 03:16:31 PM
Miners are too small in number to control the price. Bitcoin market is much bigger than the number of miners. There are thousands of traders who are holding and trading much larger sum of bitcoins than miners. So the price of Bitcoin is controlled by the free forces of market i.e. demand and supply.

So can the mining cost exceed the profit from mining? Well yes! If we measure in terms of fiat currency, mining may not be profitable some times. But in such condition, an important characteristic of perfect competition market i.e. 'Free Entry and Exit of Firms' will operate. Since bitcoin market is close substitute of perfect market due to large number of buyers and sellers, this characteristic will exist in Bitcoin too. During low profitability, some miners may leave mining, which will decrease the mining difficulty which in turn reduce the mining cost. So in long run, mining will always return to equilibrium and will be profitable.

837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: March 30, 2020, 06:36:31 PM
If Serie A and La Liga have to do something to choose winners and spots for Champions League and Europa league next year, play off tournaments are good. It is not fair to arbitrarily choose winners without such tournaments. It is surely a hard decision but from my opinion, there is no other good choices if all leagues won't manage to continue and finish all matches.

The same will go for other leagues, but for now Italy and Spain are the most affected nations from the pandemic. We will have better picture on Germany and England next two weeks or even four weeks.

I think that all leagues are going to establish a play off round.
This might be a small league with the best 5 -6 teams in the league that would challenge for the top 5-6 ranking and get a position in the european competitions and cups.

That would be injustice with rest of the teams.

It would be better if play off tournament includes all the teams and matches are played according to seeding. For example, since Barcelona and Real Madrid are leading the table, both of these will get direct entry in the semi-finals. Sevilla and Getafe will get direct qualification to quarter finals and so on.

This way, other teams will get a chance to make to the top and save themselves from relegation as well as provide advantage to the teams which have already played better than others.

839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Logo: #90 on Fortune's top 100 greatest designs on: March 30, 2020, 03:38:24 PM

 - almost 90% of people have not heard of it.

I don't agree with this. We can say that 99% of people never used Bitcoin but at least 30% of them have heard about Bitcoin. Almost every person I ever tried to initiate discussion about Bitcoin has heard about Bitcoin, however perspective about Bitcoin differ from person to person. Most of the people whom I talked with either think that Bitcoin is some kind of quick return investment or banned by government. However, none of those are true. We have to blame these newspapers and media for spreading lies. But whatsoever is the case, I assume that 3 out of 10 people have heard or read about Bitcoin at least once in their lifetime.

In my case, I first read about Bitcoin in 2014 when one of the daily newspaper printed a news about American guy who lost few millions due to losing his private keys. However, I kind of ignored article back then and actually started using Bitcoin not before 2015.
840  Local / India / Re: Living on Crypto in India — A real life scenario on: March 30, 2020, 02:16:11 PM
Nice to see that we can buy vouchers directly with cryptocurrencies on Bitrefill. I needed Google Play gift card earlier today and bought one from PhonePe. Bad that I didn't know about Bitrefill else it was a perfect chance to try the platform.

It is a well-thought project IMO. Since it is hard to convince big businesses to directly accept Bitcoin payments due to volatility, it is a good way-around by selling gift cards for crypto. I will try buying gift cards once corona situation is over and let's see if everything really goes as smooth as mentioned in article.

I have one suggestion for you, when posting such threads, make sure to add some portion from the article in the thread so that reader can get some idea what the article is about before clicking the external link.

One more thing, are you associated with the project? If yes, then can you tell me is this service exclusive to India or also present for other countries?
