8261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Call Bitcoin Blockchain? on: July 30, 2020, 02:24:34 PM

What I want the forum to discuss is this:
I believe that the application of Blockchain cut across many industries such as healthcare, logistics, insurance, governement, education and so and so forth.
Why is the application of Blockchain to finance has this popularity than application of Blockchain to other sectors?
What do you think?

Simple because the application of the blockchain technology to other industries is very doubtful.

Blockchain is a very slow and heavy database. Immutability, Transparency and so on are not necessarily good for those industries you mentioned.

There might be some applications in other industries, but that is not what blockchain was designed for. It was designed for financial transactions record.

I believe when people try to apply blockchain to other industries, like those you mentioned, they are thinking in the wrong way.

The common approach is: "I have the solution, the blockchain. What do I have to do to fit the problem to my solution?".
While it is, in fact, the other way around: "I need a database with transparency, immutability, security, etc. What are the available solutions? Will blockchain do it?"

When thinking like this, most people will realize that they don't need blockchain at all at their industries.

Grin

kkk achou um shitcoin maximalist

Eu sou shitcoin minimalist Smiley
8263  Local / Brasil / Re: ****** CRIE SUA PRÓPRIA MOEDA ****** on: July 30, 2020, 02:06:00 PM
A moeda global.

8265  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying a domain with name cheap using bitcoin on: July 29, 2020, 10:53:28 PM

I think no one could bypass it by paying but if you break any terms or didn't respond from WhoisGuard there's a possibility that they will reveal you're true identity.

Thanks

I have one more question.
I was looking at hosting prices, they are more expensive than I tought.

If I want a small page, not too many megabytes of data... what is the cheapest way to do so?
8266  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying a domain with name cheap using bitcoin on: July 29, 2020, 10:05:03 PM

If the problem is the public WHOIS details, Namecheap offers privacy protection service (WhoisGuard) for free, except for .uk, .ca, and probably .london

thanks, this is what I was looking for.

So WhoisGuard is a free service. I can give them some contact information but it won't be public visible.
But can someone bypasss whoisguard just by paying something, right?
8267  Other / Meta / Re: Super Merit Table - Where did you spend/received all of your merits on: July 29, 2020, 08:47:21 PM
Thank you all for the suggestions.

Most of those customizations will only be able if I host my table in my domain, moving away from flourish.

I am studying about using namecheao to create a website for this kind of data. I am studying a lot of python so i think i will do a lot of work

I already figured out a searchable table using bootstrap, that will work much better than this one.
8268  Economy / Service Discussion / Buying a domain with name cheap using bitcoin on: July 29, 2020, 08:32:36 PM
Hello
I think I will buy a name cheap domain using bitcoin.

I know some members here have a domain registered by name cheap. Is it fully anonymous? Do I have to give any documents kyc? Thanks.
8269  Other / Meta / Re: Super Merit Table - Where did you spend/received all of your merits on: July 29, 2020, 08:06:43 PM
Very cool little table you created there, OP.  I'm not really all that interested in merit statistics (mine or anyone else's), but it was interesting to look at which sections I'd gotten most of mine in and where I've given them out the most.  Meta topped the list for both, just as I would have guessed but I was surprised to see Trading Discussion was a section where I'd earned and given out a lot of merits--I guess I don't frequent that section much anymore, or it could be that some threads got moved there.

Thank you.

Trading discussing is basically Reputation board.

Curtam a corrida!

8271  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Security Notice - Ecommerce and Marketing data have been exposed on: July 29, 2020, 05:13:22 PM
I think it is more than what they say and I don't trust Ledger until I see more transparent detailed report.

they stated that your crypto is safe but i wonder if any coin addresses were leaked. just what people want, name, address and potentially the amount of crypto they own for sale to the highest bidders.

lovely

Possibly affiliates data were leaked as well.
Affiliates share their bitcoin address, real name   and documents to receive payments. Most probably, those address are within a ledger nano wallet. And an address might be connect to other address in the same wallet....
8272  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is the biggest problem with cryptos on: July 29, 2020, 03:51:06 PM
Well here is another problem for you :

Minimum Requirements

https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node#costs-and-warnings

Blockchain size:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/647523/worldwide-bitcoin-blockchain-size/

Each year to run a full node you need more space and more processing power ,do to fact more transactions are added to the blockchain etc ...

Wait, does your Granpa which can't even paste his address in his website wants to run a full node with a poor hardware?

Why the hell would your 80year old Granpa want to run a full node?

You know you don't need to run a full node to receive and send payments, right?

You can read about them here. SPV (Simplified Payment Verification)
https://en.bitcoinwiki.org/wiki/Simplified_Payment_Verification

Quote
Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) – using Bitcoin without running a full network node. By default, upon receiving a new transaction a node must validate it: in particular, verify that none of the transaction's inputs have been previously spent. To carry out that check the node needs to access the blockchain. Any user who does not trust his network neighbors, should keep a full local copy of the blockchain, so that any input can be verified.

As noted in Nakamoto's whitepaper, it is possible to verify bitcoin payments without running a full network node. And this is called simplified payment verification or SPV. A user or user’s bitcoin spv wallet only needs a copy of the block headers of the longest chain, which are available by querying network nodes until it is apparent that the longest chain has been obtained. Then, wallet using spv client get the Merkle branch linking the transaction to its block. Linking the transaction to a place in the active chain demonstrates that a network node has accepted it, and blocks added after it further establish the confirmation.
8273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paying low fees in Ethereum - Gas Limit, Gas Price and Gwei on: July 29, 2020, 03:40:11 PM
There are guides on this in beginners and help section but it is also good to discuss it here knowing that many newbies will go directly on some sectio like this as a highlight in this forum. The good thing is that this type of post is very helpful and wishing for the best of the newbies around and to the forum.

Strictly, Beginners & Help section should be for Bitcoin discussions only. As Ethereum is an altcoin, I posted it in this board. Maybe a Beginners & Help Altcoin board would be nice.

Anyway, all of the said things were very confusing of course but if one will going to do this in actual then it is a better way for better understanding. One can also see how to do it in youtube like this one https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lkwTJgciQ0g.

Well, if you read the guide carefully while making a transaction you will understand.

most important is to keep gas price low (like suggested in ethgastation , a plugin, etc or less), and let the wallet handle gas limit automatically.

Edit: The problem is that I already have 43 columns. This idea would double it... certainly it is interesting, but it might decrease user experience.
I think I will not be able to use the same column. I will try to figure out something
Why not consider to move the username on the first row.

Then, the second and third rows will be:
  • Received (frequency)
  • Received (%)

The fourth and fifth rows will be:
  • Sent (frequency)
  • Sent (%)

Cheers!  Cheesy

You are genius. Done!
8275  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is the biggest problem with cryptos on: July 29, 2020, 03:00:25 PM
I am talking about some old guy trying to sell his products...

If that old guy cannot do this simple line of code and download a proper wallet, he should not be selling his products.

There you go:
Code:
<a href="bitcoin:33jr6swgJxHwyFTgXKcv7kbKSy4du8Yt8r?amount=1">Pay here</a>

It is much harder than this line to accept paypal or accept visa in your website. Bitcoin is easier than those methods online. Easier and cheaper.

Quote
Example 1: he places an ad in the newspaper : I made a digital book send xyz BTC to address ABC ,once payment is sent you can  download the book ...without the need for him to install complex software or to use  third party ...
If he uses any decent wallet, the wallet will pop up in his mobile when he receives funds. No need for complex software.

Quote
Also Timmy is in the USA and Granny in Germany ...Timmy has to wake up Granny in the middle of the night to send her BTC for a jar of Cherry Jam like you want to...

Nah, I think you just don't understand how bitcoin work. Granny can give the address to Timmy before she sleeps.
If Granny were using a bank account, she would need to give her account information before going to be also, otherwise she would have to woke up in the middle of the night. lol
8276  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Migration of Millionaires. Can Bitcoin change this scenario? on: July 29, 2020, 01:53:17 PM
. Although this should have been the least surprising, I would have chosen the Caribbean myself)

Yeah, i agree in Caribbean.

I would certainly think about it due to life quality .  I don't know about their health infrastructure,  but at least for now it isn't a problem for me... I just need to become a millionaire now to move lol
8277  Other / Meta / Re: Super Merit Table - Where did you spend/received all of your merits on: July 29, 2020, 11:56:27 AM
It looks like now you are more proficient to do such things. Congratulations for your achievement, bitmover!

By the way, if it is possible (on that platform and at your current skills), please add a column for percentages statistics. You can add a new column or simply integrate percentages in () blocks after the frequency statistics.

It is easier to imagine distributions based on percentages rather than frequencies.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I can do percentage statistics, but I am not sure if I understood your suggestion correctly.

Something like this?

I just invented that % for our discussion, didn't calculate it.

Edit: The problem is that I already have 43 columns. This idea would double it... certainly it is interesting, but it might decrease user experience.
I think I will not be able to use the same column. I will try to figure out something
8278  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [UPDATED] My bitcoin/bitcointalk.org Stats Projects - all in one thread on: July 29, 2020, 11:51:57 AM
Just added Super Merit table and Turkish merit race.

To do:

-More local boards animations per request. Portuguese is the obvious next one Wink
-More tables and different graphic visualizations with the new DdmrDdmr data. As now I can get data per board/topic I have wider possibilities
8279  Other / Meta / Re: Super Merit Table - Where did you spend/received all of your merits on: July 29, 2020, 11:31:20 AM
Really everyone would love to see the Super Merit table, a very neatly arranged table.  Thank you so much for showing such a table. You can update this table to make it look easier and more beautiful.

I want to ask you a question. If you search by typing my name on the Superman Merit table nothing shows.  If you did that, it would be better if the names of those who did not get merit or donate could be seen on the table.

Not show my name: https://imgur.com/4nB5Thv

Thank you @bitmover

Hello Mcnicoll.

I excluded members who never earned any merit from the database, as all their data is zero anyway...
