1. Lock the thread. [Only open once you announce there is a space for new participants]

A campaign thread serve other purposes than blindly applying.
Already accepted members may decide to leave and say here, questions form participants may show up, important messages from the manager, suggestions from participants and so on.

Ofc Yahoo can lock the thread, but that's not what he and other managers usually do.
9042  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Perdi Minha Conta, Me ajudem a Recuperar meus MERITS PF on: November 20, 2019, 09:07:31 PM

u
We really need a new board.
Yesterday hackers breached the security of the official Montero website and replaced the wallet binaries with infested ones. The problem was deteced jsut a half hour later but there were already reports for lost coins...
Anyway I posted today the news in beginners and help section but my post was moved to Altcoin Discussion. There are almost no views there.

Dont worry, soon spammers will make 40 pages there, or it will be buried under other spam posts

Quote
tmover, I have nothing against new board for online security/privacy, even in Beginners & Help board. But I disagree that current topics are not Bitcoin-related, the security of personal computers and smartphones should come first, and it directly affects Bitcoin users, especially beginners.
You are not disagreeing, but complementing Lucius
9044  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Put space in memo on: November 20, 2019, 11:56:29 AM
which excahnge are you using?

Why don't you use most reliable exchanges, like binance, which doesn't even require KYC?
There are some others which deal with fiat, with kyc, such as coinbase, bitstamp, kraken. None of those will have such problems.
9045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preparing for a recession... Gold or Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2019, 11:47:17 AM
. If a recession where to happen, some investors will sure to seek Bitcoin or gold to avoid losing money.

One important detail here.
Investors must seek those investments BEFORE the recession, not after it blows.
9046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would You Pay for Odd Jobs With Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2019, 12:39:25 AM
I see no problem in paying with bitcoin, if that is convenient to you.
Personally, I always like to pay for stuff using bitcoin.

I am very attached to my bitcoins and I would not sell them easily. Buying something with them seems easier for me.
9047  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Looking for investors on: November 19, 2019, 11:11:46 PM
We respect your decision. We understand that 1% return daily is a high figure and that Bitcoin is a lot about trust, so we try our best to answer all questions that we receive and have a website to clear up any questions one might have. Running a business of this nature isn't easy, so please give us a chance before making any assumptions, whether true or false.

There is no respect here.

If 1% return was true, you could just invest your own mo ey and become rich in a few months.
By investing 10k USD today, one year later you would have 400k.

That's a pyramid scheme.

Go steal someone else's money.
9048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you use betting tips? on: November 19, 2019, 07:29:12 PM
I believe betting tips is like following trading signals or a trading YouTuber. Sooner or later you will be scammed or will lose money due to bad service.

Bet on your own, do your own research.
9049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Millennials Increasingly Prefer Bitcoin to Gold or Real Estate on: November 19, 2019, 07:25:52 PM
. Yes there are volatile stocks as well but what they are after is more than a 10-20% gain on their capital and that is where cryptocurrencies come in particularly Bitcoin since it has the potential to double or even triple in just a months time which compared in the stock market only penny stocks can do it and not the big market cap ones.

I think this depends a lot on the country.

In Brazil stocks are much more popular between millennials, the volatility hre is enormous.

In USA the volatility is high as well. Sp500 is facing new all time highs monthly since trump showed up.
Sp500 is an index fo the 500 biggest stocks in USA, and It increased more than 60% since 2016. This is huge .
I am sure millennials are buying it a lot, as millennials are the ones who are working and making money right now.

Ofc bitcoin can increase much more, but it also can make you lose money...
9050  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dormant blockchain.com accounts? on: November 19, 2019, 04:00:39 PM
Theoretically , a dormant blockchain.com is just a dormant address.
I believe many of those dormant may even be holders

But certainly, it is better to move your coins somewhere else, just in case they can access the seeds (or some hacker gets into their system and Rob everyone)
9051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preparing for a recession... Gold or Bitcoin? on: November 19, 2019, 01:55:15 PM
Let's not be fan boys here.
If you are a serious person and you deal seriously with your money, ofc you need to hold both of them. Gold and bitcoin. You don't have to choose only one.
9052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Posting an image on: November 19, 2019, 01:48:50 PM
Some websites bug here for some reasons. Try imgur.com , the most used around here. Free and easy to use.
9053  Other / Archival / Re: [POLL] Vote for your favourite design -- Bitcointalk 10th Anniversary Coldkey on: November 19, 2019, 01:50:11 AM
I  never saw yatsan before, and I voted for his design

I prefer more discrete designs and I liked his. I was in doubt between 1 and 3.
9054  Other / Meta / Re: [LIST]Open Merit Source Applications,waiting list. on: November 19, 2019, 12:13:51 AM
Maybe I shouldn't have posted the montly allocation even though Alex_sr have stated it in his post, I don't want to start fights between the sources and theymos. Maybe that's why everyone was keeping quiet about it. I think I should keep it that way and remove the amount of smerit.
Sorry guys.

All this information is public iasenko
Just look here and you will see who has more sMerits to give as a source, and who are the sources:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topsend

Even if theymos removed those links, there would still be users who like to deal with data, statistics and whatsover and would generate this data and post here.

Edit: I understand your worries about the drama, but I think there won't be much drama.
9055  Other / Meta / Re: [LIST]Open Merit Source Applications,waiting list. on: November 19, 2019, 12:00:05 AM
There is one more confirmation from today - Alex_Sr  with a monthly allocation of ******** source merit

WTF! I thought I was a big merit source with *** smerits monthly allocation!!
 Angry

lol. Still trying to find posts to spend them.
9056  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 18, 2019, 11:58:11 PM
I never sell my BTC. I never trade it. I just accumulate.

However, few days ago I decided to spend $ 80 in a two year plan in protonmail, and Bitcoin is by far the cheapest and most convenient payment method (as I don't have USD or EUR).

Bitcoin price just crashed, wtf! The price was 0.0090 when I first looked, now it is 0.0099.

where are the bulls? lol
9057  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ProtonMail black friday is on! on: November 18, 2019, 11:35:40 PM
And they do require a captcha, SMS, email verification or deposit for that (take a look at the post above yours, by HCP).

There is a "are you human" verification which requires email, SMS, or donation.

captcha is very different from the other ones, and it is available.

He said that we needed email sms or donation. That's a big difference. Because all of those can easily be tracked back to you, while the captcha is not so easy (compared to SMS or fiat donation).

And that's pretty undestandable, to require a captcha... image how many spammers would be creating infinite accounts.
9058  Other / Meta / Re: new board request - Online Privacy & Security on: November 18, 2019, 11:04:22 PM
I'd like such board exist, but IMO the topic is too narrow. Something like "Security, Privacy & Anonymity" would be better since 3 of them are related.

But there aren't that many topics about those, so i doubt we'll this board will be created.

I doubt it will ever created as well. But I think it should.

Topics are related to this forum, people here have much knowledge and interest about them and this is certainly one of the best forums in the internet to discuss about Security and Privacy.

Look at beginners and help board now. 11 Topics related to "Security, Privacy & Anonymity" (anonymity and privacy are almost the same btw) and 25 not related, in the first page.

9059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ProtonMail black friday is on! on: November 18, 2019, 10:37:53 PM
There is a "are you human" verification which requires email, SMS, or donation. The only donation options are PayPal and Credit Card (no BTC). Email option doesn't accept some email addresses I think my hotmail address was a no go. Yeah still have one of those.

That's for the free account. I don't know if the paid options let you in without being "human".

I am sorry, but EVERYTHING is wrong in this post.

There is a "are you human" verification which requires email, SMS, or donation.

The only thing needed is a username and a password. No SMS, no e-mail, no donation.

The only donation options are PayPal and Credit Card (no BTC).

They accept donation in bitcoin

I know you don't like protonmail, but spreading misinformation is not how you are going to promote alternative services. Wink

You can, just use the promo coupon BF2019
When I attempt to use the coupon code "BF2019" (as extracted from the "get deal" URL), it ends up being way more expensive than using the "BUNDLE" code!!?! Huh
Ummmm yeah... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
I didn't know about this BUNDLE code. BF2019 is better than no code for me.
9060  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP !- Balance showing ZERO, new laptop, using legder and Electrum!!! !!HELP!!! on: November 18, 2019, 10:20:15 PM

Can I suggest you to use Ledger live?
Here see the instructions: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005195945-Bitcoin-BTC-

This will be an easier solution for you hopefully.

Keep it simple and just follow the step by step information they have provided in their website. You can do it using Electrum later. Your coins are really safe, please do not stress out.

I was going to suggest exactly that.
Electrum is amazing for more advanced users. Newbies can stick with ledger live, and when he finds his coins he may try Electrum again.
