8841  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: kms activator and bitcoin wallet? on: December 25, 2019, 10:02:24 PM
I used KMS activator for long time (for MS office, which is very expensive )and never had problems with anyone trying to hack me.
However , I use a hardware wallet.

I recommend that you buy one as well. Using a hardwallet you are 99.9% safe (maybe even more)
8842  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to send bitcoins to such address in message ? on: December 25, 2019, 09:59:57 PM
but I need a proof that this payment belongs to my user account !!

Usually, these kind of sites generate a unique deposit address for each user. That's the way these get tracked. The message in the uri you posted is for your information only, it never ends up in a block.

This is correct. Don't worry in proving that this payment came from your account.

However,  it they still want a proof you can sign a message just like Theokool1s said.

Just transfer and don't worry. This address was generated exclusively for your purchase/transfer. No other user received that address as well (it would be highly unlikely)
8843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Moving wallet from one phone to another on: December 25, 2019, 09:54:49 PM
No.
This may work, but it is not the safest neither the most effective.

Do you have the seed? Seed is usually a set of 12 to 24 words.

Just download the new wallet and insert your seed there (usually the option is import new wallet)

As you are already using a new phone, why don't you download a better wallet?
I would recommend download Samourai Wallet or Electrum wallet

Just insert your seed in any wallet and it will work.
8844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The genesis block and 6 days to second block on: December 25, 2019, 04:57:25 PM
i did some search and it seems like this gap has nothing to do with mining and finding a block. in fact nobody was mining bitcoin in that gap because the code was not released yet.
in other words, Satoshi created the genesis block hence the blockchain on January 3rd with the timestamp and then released the code (Bitcoin v0.1.0) 6 days later on January 9th (https://www.mail-archive.com/cryptography@metzdowd.com/msg10142.html) which is why the first mined block is on 9th instead of 3rd.
I didn't know about that. I thought the difficult was poorly adjusted.

Maybe satoshi saw a nice opportunity in January 3rd to launch the genesis block, as the times newspaper had a very interesting header, even though the code wasn't ready yet.

Satoshi inserted in the genesis block  an important message, which is the times header in that day. , governments decided to save banks with public money.

"“Chancellor on Brink of Second Bailout for Banks”.

Quote
difficulty readjusts AFTER certain number of blocks (2016) are found not after X amount of time passes. and the initial difficulty was the minimum possible value from the start.

This is right. After 2016 blocks the protocol readjusts the difficult for an average 10minures block, depending on the past hash rate.
8845  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google Authenticator is no longer 'connected' to Electrum on: December 25, 2019, 01:25:47 PM
When 2fa appear click disable
He has 2FA enabled when he created the electrum wallet. His seed key is now protected with 2FA. I guess now there's no way of recovering the wallet without cooperation from the TrustWallet or the phone he used to generate the seed key.

Edit-
Electrum gives you the seed which holds 2-of-3 keys of his wallet and asks you to back it up. If he did save/write down that seed, he can use it to effectively disable the 2FA even if he lost access to the device. We still don’t know if he saved that somewhere.
My bad, I didn't know that. OP said he had a new phone. I guess he has the seed key.

2fa in any wallet serves just as a wallet lock. Just like a pin,  a fingerprint,  or whatever.
Those secondary authenticators gives no extra security at all, as the only thing you need to access your coin is the seed/private keys.

This is because of the way blockchain is designed. What matters for the blockchain is just the private keys. Fingerprints, 2fa, pin, etc are all off chain gadget's which really doesn't matter.
8846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your thought about halving? on: December 25, 2019, 01:13:04 PM
In theory this can happen and it makes sense.
However,  there is no guarantee.  This is just a bet.

It happened in the previous halvings, but Past performance is just an indicator.
Bitcoin is in a strong downtrend since 2018... I hope halving can reverse that as well.

Or I should always ignore such PMs ?

What do you do in such cases?

In case of merit abuser I would ignore.
I believe that if the user decide to change his behavior he can create a new account and start over.

If he has a legendary account and is selling or abusing merit he just doesn't deserve that rank
 He has to earn it.

Just my opinion

Thanks for te the suggestion
Unfortunately I could not find this one in my location and I have already bought it. But good to know.

It is sad to see that we cannot block all those trackers in our mobile phones, as they are built deep inside in.
8850  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: ledger Christmas Offer on: December 24, 2019, 06:35:34 PM
Looks like they want to empty their Nano S stock asap. I don't particularly like discount like this tbh.

I don't like either.
Imo there is no sense in having both of them. Just ti give as a gift or to sell it. Maybe if you are buying together with a friend.

X and s are almost the same and they have the same security. The only advantage x has is the extra memory space, so you can have more altcoins apps installed at once (which is not q great advantage )
8851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How best to secure your Private Keys and/or Seed phrase on: December 23, 2019, 11:38:43 PM
Private keys are usually not made available to the wallet owner, (although some wallets allow you to import it) rather you are given a seed phrase or recovery phrase. This is a set of words that are randomly generated and are as secure as the private keys. This phrase is used to recover your account should you use your device or wallet.
For example, red yellow green blue black brown purple grey orange indigo violet pink white

One more fact about the seed.

The seed is the sequence of words that contains the mathematical relation needed to generate all your private keys.
Private keys are not linked , but there is a mathematical relation in the private keys generated from the same seed.

If the seed leaks, all the private keys are compromised.

8852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC or USD Pairs? on: December 23, 2019, 11:28:15 PM

He is right, converting to usd on exchange won't help him to cash out at localbitcoins, he needs to have btc.

Once he has usd on an exchange he doesn't need to go to local bitcoins to cash out. This makes no sense. Just cash out on the exchange

If he can trade using a usd trading pair he has already done kyc, so there are no advantages using local bitcoins

And he is  not right, he said that converting HTC to usd won't help him cash out. Wink
8853  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum - watch only - how to use? on: December 23, 2019, 12:04:46 PM
Hi

Have sent funds to a electrum wallet that is "watch only", is there any connection with my electrum default wallet?

what are the steps I need to do once I manage to find the private keys?

Can I see somehow when was that wallet watch only created?

The idea of a watch only wallet is just to keep fracking your funds without any risk.
For example,  if you have a cold storage wallet but you need to daily check balances . You can make a watch only wallet in your phone or in a personal online computer.

You can only "find" the private keys" if someone give them to you.
If someone gave you funds in a watch only wallet it may be a scam. There are many people getting scammed by watch only wallets
8854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to stay private when using Android (protonmail blog) on: December 23, 2019, 11:58:25 AM
To the tech experts, is it possible to uninstall the google version on our android phones and install it with the LineageOS as mentioned in the article?
Yes. You will find instructions for how to do so on their respective websites: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/ and https://grapheneos.org/install.

Be aware that doing so is not without risk. It is possible to brick your phone if you make mistakes while installing a custom OS.

Unfortunately my new phone is not supported (a30) in this list.
Maybe I will install in my old one just for testing purposes.

But let me ask. You said there was a risk and it may brick the phone. But can't you just  factory reset the phone to fix it?
8855  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Your service on: December 22, 2019, 05:14:13 PM
if an exchange requires KYC for some user, there is nothing stopping them from forcing everyone else to submit their KYC documents. even if you are getting away with not doing it for so long, there will come a day when they block your account until you hand over your documents.

Well, the same line of thinking applies to an exchange which doesn't requires any kyc now.

If an exchange does  not requires any kyc from any use,, there is  nothing stopping them from forcing everyone to submit their kyc documents.  Even If you are getting away with not doing so for years. There will come the day when they block your account until you hand over your documents.

Lol

There is no solution for this. Just use the exchanges until they block your account  and keep the balance empty
8856  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC or USD Pairs? on: December 22, 2019, 05:08:12 PM
For cashing out, i would use localbitcoins and it will ask for KYC. Rather i have already done my KYC there.
But within the exchange, converting in USD won't help for cash out purpose.  Normally i convert my BTC into usd within the exchange, when i get the signal of btc dumping.

Localbitcoin is the same as using a trading pair btc×usd (or other fiat cuerency)
Converting to usd won't help to cash out?
Do you know what is cash out? Cash out is to sell bfc back to fiat. There is no way to cash out without using a fiatxbfc paid, and localbitcoin is exactly that.
8857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Check the balance of your Bitcoin address at a specific date on: December 22, 2019, 04:39:59 PM
Isn't this too much trouble for something any blockchain explorer can do?
Just deduct all transactions past the specific date you want.
Unless you have to know the value of many addresses in an specific date
8858  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reminder: TestNet coins have no value whatsoever, don't get scammed. on: December 22, 2019, 12:44:11 PM
This is new
How people get a TESTnet wallet and think that it is ok.

When dealing with crypto I think that most people just think "easy money, quick rich scheme" and act so careless...
When I bought my first bitcoin I read a ton of articles about which exchange to use, which wallet to use and so on..
8859  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC or USD Pairs? on: December 21, 2019, 10:31:58 PM

KYC?
Kyc = know your customer
They will ask for your documents.

Quote
Also, why do use the usd pair when cashing out? Is this because BTC is in a bear market?
Because to cash out you need to trade cryptoxusd.
Otherwise,  how will be able to get any usd from your bitcoins? There is no other way that I am aware of.
8860  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC or USD Pairs? on: December 21, 2019, 08:56:44 PM
Usually most  altcoins have a bTC pair, while usd paid is only available to high volume coins.

I prefer to use usd pair only when I am  cashing out or cashing in.

Usually you can trade a BTC pair without kyc, and you need kyc to trade usd pair.
