8921  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC Recovery on: December 11, 2019, 05:15:55 PM
If you add the address it will be a watch only.
If you add the private keys, like omegascream said, you will be able to spend those coins.

Public addresses are used to receive, and private keys are used to spend.
Never share your privatekeys to anyone.
8922  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Should hardware wallets use secure elements for max security? on: December 11, 2019, 05:12:30 PM
I don't understand what is the op so worried about.
If you lose your device and for some reason a hacker finds it, he will not be able to steal your funds, unless if it is a zero day exploit (which nobody knows any for now).
If someone try your pin 3 times  device will reset.

The maximum security for now for your bitcoins is a ledger nano or a trezor.
8923  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X - Review of the package. on: December 11, 2019, 03:22:45 PM
I know that that I could buy 2 Nano S for the price of one X, but I consider this purchase an investment in the future. The Nano S is a good HW, but unfortunately, it has limited storage that will prevent Ledger to add some new features in the future.

What kind of features could that be? I never thought about this, and certainly this can be an interesting perspective. However, I can't think of anything other than more coins support, which doesn't interests me.

Maybe some better integration with some crazy smartcontract in ethereum in the future.. However for now my nano integrates perfectly with metamask, electrum, mycrypto, mew, TRON, etc etc...

In ledgerI miss an integration with Steem. But that~s ok, i can live with it lol

exatanente. satoshi nao fez nada sozinho.
isso o theymos explicou uns mesrs atras num post brilhante, Satoshi's lesson.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5092492.0

Satoshi utilizou várias ideias que já circulavam na época da criação do btc. Ele as juntou e fez algo incrível.
Um trabalho de monstruosa dedicação, e feito gratuitamente, apenas ideologia.
8926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can be done to stop loss sending to wrong bitcoin address on: December 10, 2019, 08:40:11 AM
What is suggesting makes absolutely no sense.

No one should have to give any authorization to receive money, only to send. This is how it always worked out in Fiat currency as well

If the user is careless and sends money to any address without verifying, it is solely his fault and he loses the money . There is nothing no one can do.

What you are suggesting, authorization to receive money, causes so many problems that it is not worth mentioning.
How would donations work? There would be so much more congestion cause there will be those transactions going back and forth...

Bad idea. Wink
8927  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Cobo Tablet_Finally a recovery seed backup solution that's worth the $$$ on: December 10, 2019, 08:19:50 AM
If you make multiple copies, it just increases the chances of others finding your recovery seed.

If you can't store a paper or this steel in a place where no one will find, then this will not give you any security.

Ofc steel is better than paper, however a paper can easily last 20 years, as I have seen already
8928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to post Bitcoin related art? (in particular, cartoons) on: December 09, 2019, 10:22:17 PM
Thanks all for the prompt replies and opinions! Much appreciated. For now I only have one cartoon, and quite simple: I will try to post it on "Bitcoin Discussion", and see how it goes.

Thanks again,
Ben

If it is related to the bitcoinforum you can post in meta board.
There is too much spam in Bitcoin discussion board. I would try some other board, according to the art.
8929  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: encrypted WIPC windows wallet on: December 09, 2019, 10:20:51 PM
The message you see tells you everything, the password you entered is incorrect. Check every password character, maybe you enter some character incorrectly, or you type a completely wrong password for that wallet.
i did saved the passpharse right  idont know what else to do!!
is there any command line to restore it !

Maybe you are confused about passphrase and seed definitions.
Seed is the 12/24 words you save
The passphrase is an additional"password" that will encrypt your wallet.

If you don't know the passphrase there is no way to recover. Myabe you can try to brute Force if you are sure it is similar to the one you think it is.

Passphrase is case sensitive, this means that Passphrase and passphrase are different.
8930  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Cobo Tablet_Finally a recovery seed backup solution that's worth the $$$ on: December 09, 2019, 04:48:22 PM
This is slightly safer than a paper...
But if you make some different back ups of your paper wallet, there is no need to have this

It is beautiful and interesting, but not worth 40 bucks imo
8931  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Earn satoshis by completing free offers and surveys - Payouts via Lightning ⚡ on: December 09, 2019, 03:56:50 PM
It looks like you are aiming to collect a lot of information in exchange for promises to pay for some of the satoshis.

Because that's how they make money Tongue

People are willing to sell a lot of their data and posts useless stuff compromising even their reputation for a promise of receiving a few satoshis, probably less than 0.01 usd

Cryptocurrency is making bounty hunters crazy. It's better to become a beggar. You can easily get 5-10 usd by begging around your neighborhood, without giving any data
8932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which decentralized exchanges (DEX) are the best ones to use now? Help me plz on: December 09, 2019, 03:24:27 PM
I agree with ETFbitcoin

None of those exchanges mentioned are decentralized, but etherdelta and other Dex based on ethereum smartcontracts. Unfortunately you can only trade ether and tokens there.

Until we have a truly atomic swap going on there will be no Dex between two different blockchains.
8933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Cypherpunk Manifesto - We all should read it on: December 09, 2019, 12:43:17 PM
Where website/s you usually cite this kind of article if there's any?

I like coindesk, blockgeeks, techcrunch, wired, Gizmob, theverge.

All of those have good and bad articles, justook for good ones Wink
8934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful with the links you click on your email on: December 08, 2019, 10:29:09 PM
Personally I just delete any email sent from an unknown sender.

Just delete them and never click links in emails. If you want to go to the site in a email link, look first at Google and try to reach the official website, not the email link to it
8935  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Helping (usually new) People Choose Their Wallet(s) on: December 08, 2019, 09:59:18 PM
The closest thing I would consider getting would be either a trezor or a ledger.
That's all you need really. The majority of hardware wallet users have either a Trezor or a Ledger. Wait until Christmas or the New Year and both Ledger and Trezor will probably have another 30-50% discount. That is the perfect opportunity to buy one if you are interested.

Certainly that's the best time, and black Friday as well.

However, if someone holds a significant amount in crypto, I wouldn't wait a few months or weeks (risking my coins) to save 20 bucks.
8936  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin EVER have a bigger blocksize? Is there hope? on: December 08, 2019, 09:51:00 PM
but with visa will never lead to decentralization

Neither will bch, which is Roger Ver's blockchain.
The only truly Decentralized blockchain for now is Bitcoin. Bch is just a quick rich scheme.
8937  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where do exchanges store the coins? Private per customer or combined? on: December 08, 2019, 05:29:00 PM
P.S I am little confused on the deposit address allocation by the exchanges to users. Does 2 different users at 2 different time frames (3-4 months interval) gets allocated the same deposit address? I firmly believed this was the true and a made a post regarding the same, but many forum members disagreed with me! Huh But after recently checking my exchange deposit address, I was allocated a deposit address which was used for a 1+ BTC transaction 3 months back.

I think it depends on exchange policy. Also, there is no guarantee that this specific address is yours and yours alone .
An exchange may decide just to use an old address to you, which belonged to some other account before , or even some other transaction from cold -hot storage.
8938  Other / Off-topic / Re: Explain to me why you think you are more knowledgable about bitcoin than me on: December 07, 2019, 09:45:12 PM
I've had a slew of recent vulgar responses from my posts recently and I figure, if everyone think's they're so smart...Post here.  Why do you think you know more about Bitcoin than me.  I made 20,000 dollars trading it right in 2017 and ever since then the forced buys have gotten out of hand.
If you think Bitcoin is about trading, certainly you don't even know what it is

Search in Google "what's bitcoin" and come back in a few weeks so we can discuss Wink

In other words: can anyone who has seen at least 1 transaction related to my Coinbase-account, therefore see my balance I am holding at Coinbase?
No they cannot since the coins move to a larger cold wallet and wouldn't be associated with your account when seen through explorers. Hence you are the one who could see the balances which are updated in front end system of the exchange.

I am not enterily sure about this
Maybe if the transaction is considered small value according to their internal policy, your funds may remain in that same address you transferred for a long time.

I never used coinbase, but I know certain exchanges do not generate new addresses for new transactions. So if someone discovers a transaction you made, they could watch how much you sent there.

Additionally, you should ways create new addresses before withdrawing funds, to preserve your privacy. (Someone who knows one address of yours will not be sure about this second one, and it could be someone else's.
