841  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who does gambling addiction affect the most? on: January 10, 2024, 04:57:18 AM
I think there's no need to both, whether who's side is more affected, the gambler or its immediate family. For me, both sides are. Think of this: the gambler is being too addicted and cannot be controlled even with the help of its family. Of course, the gambler itself will suffer or be affected because of its own consequences, and the family will also be affected or will suffer for different reasons. Maybe the gambler is stealing or selling the properties of the family or anything about what a gambler can do to its family.
The family will also suffer emotionally because who wants to see a family member on a wrong path on a path where we know it will be hard to recover or to stop? Gambling or gamblers will not just affect themselves; the other people who surround him will also be affected. That's why I would say both sides will be affected by any cause.
842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey has started again on: January 09, 2024, 11:41:00 PM

I did a small calculation and figured out that you invested around 11 USD (10,000 Nigerian Naira) on Oct 7, 2023 and got 0.00035334 Bitcoins which are now worth 15.3 USD. So you are in profit, congrats.
If you don't have enough money then its better to keep investing small amount periodically into Bitcoin aka DCA. Not investing anywhere or not utilising your small money will give you nothing.
If only he still holds the asset, but I hope he continues on doing DCA because if your calculation is right, he could have earned more. I'm amaze that you've spent time and effort doing calculations for our forum mate. I'm also being updated on his journey, and I hope he posted more about what happens on his investing journey. Many of our mates here have also started their investments and are sharing their experiences and first time buying an asset, but not all of them are posting updates about what happens to them after they initiate their investment. That's why I'm wondering if all posts like this are true or true to life because I'm tired of reading about topics that look like made-up stories just to have a topic, but this forum mate of ours showed proof about his journey, just hoping for more updates from him. Anyway, good luck to the OP's investment journey.
843  Economy / Gambling / Re: Responsible gambling on: January 09, 2024, 10:38:35 PM
I've read quite a few threads about self-control, budget management, and more in this forum. The content in these threads is indeed helpful for newcomers, but it seems like there are already too many threads like this here. Honestly, it makes me bored.

Many people tend to lose control when they experience big wins or losses. Yeah... the emotions from the mind usually influence them to become greedy or vengeful. Any limits won't be of any use, so it's basically nonsense for people like them.

Wise individuals will stay wise in gambling, and that's an advantage not many people possess. Without you teaching them to set limits, they're already doing it automatically.

We need to set a clear expectation that when it comes to gambling one person's gain is another person's loss and vice versa this we cannot plan much here when it comes to tactics but yeah the only thing which we control over here is the amount of isk which we want to take as it should only be the amount we can afford to use and if we win there should be a percentage which should be reinvested rest should be saved if we can create an strategy around it then we can conquer the emotions and act like machine.
I don't know if you have actually tried this plan of yours yourself because if you ask me saving gambling money is really likewise also reinvesting a little portion of it so what I do is I just withdraw my winnings and use it for something tangible that I won't regret spending it on and just continue with my gambling whenever I feel like as I don't even gamble on a daily, the habits comes now whenever I feel like it and not like before when it almost turned out to be an urge problem.

Yes, if you have that kind of mentality then you will enjoy your winnings, seeing that you manage yo buy something out from your gambling sessions is something that will boost you, I mean each time you are winning and you manage to withdraw and use it for another type of enjoyment that's really enjoyable right? And you are satisfying your gambling activities.  Just avoid getting too much attachments as it can lead you to addiction that not meant to happened.
True, but what if the opposite happens? Yes, using the profit from gambling to buy something or to use for investment is a wise choice, but what if you keep on losing? Although buying stuff from gambling winnings can motivate you or lift your mood, the fact that you have losses means you will still have regrets about it. I personally feel this kind of feeling: yes, I'm earning sometimes in gambling, "sometimes," meaning I'm more into having huge losses than what I've earned, and I know it because I have a tracker or a file wherein I record all my expenses in gambling so that I can know if I'm still earning or the opposite. It's very hard to stay responsible in gambling, especially if you know that you can't control yourself. If you can't, then you should stop gambling. If the money you are getting from your winnings is being used for gambling again, then you are not a responsible gambler in that.
844  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the difference between crypto trading and traditional stock trading on: January 09, 2024, 09:47:28 PM
I think it is already mentioned here but crypto currency or crypto trading can be done 24/7, while in forex and stock there is a closing or closing of the market where in there will be a no movement in the market, and crypto trading is a trade wherein you are trading crypto currencies a volatile currencies where you can find a lot of opportunities because of its volatility, while in forex trading you are trading fiat currencies and you can trade buy or sell meaning you can earn if the currency will go up and down meaning there is 2 option to earn in this type of trading but the thing is forex trading is too risky as the movement of the currency can be affected depending on result of the news. In stock trading, you are simply trading the stocks of different companies, wherein you will buy a portion of their stocks, and if the business blooms, so will your stocks.

In my years of experience, I have traded these three types of trading, but I can say that I'm more into crypto trading because of many reasons. Forex is too stressful for me, while the stock market is very long-term trading. YSs crypto is also long-term, especially in bitcoin, but it will take too long; it depends on the market.
845  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cointelegraph has the worst price analysis articles on: January 09, 2024, 03:07:55 PM
I suggest that for novice traders, it's best that they don't believe in websites about trading analyses. Although it can be helpful in the sense that you can use those things you read as references, never ever believe in it in the first place. There are more accurate and legitimate websites out there that will give you more accurate and legitimate news or analysis about trading or specific cryptocurrency coins. I personally don't look at this thing, or, let's say, I frequently read about articles about their trading analysis, because I don't want my own analysis to be questioned or that my own analysis will be overwritten by others' analysis. Maybe in my beginning journey in trading, I often believed in others analysis of the market and followed it, as well as trading signals, but I noticed that I'm getting more reliant on these things, so I decided to improve my knowledge more to produce a more accurate analysis of the market.
846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will any other coins like Bitcoin be discovery in the future? on: January 09, 2024, 12:12:21 PM
What do you mean? There are a lot of coins out there; in the market, there are already coins that are created via the technology of bitcoin, which is blockchain. But to answer your question, it depends on two things. If you are referring to a coin or currency that has another technology, I mean a coin created with a new technology and not driven to blockchain, then I don't think there will be something like that that will emerge. Maybe there is a possibility that as the technology gets more advanced, there is a possibility of new technology emerging. But if you are referring to a coin that will have the same equivalent in terms of price, like bitcoin, well, we will hope for that because more coins like bitcoin, which have a lot of potential and opportunity, mean a profit for us, again another possibility that we hope will happen.
847  Other / Off-topic / Re: FAILURE: The best friend of success on: January 09, 2024, 07:52:03 AM
👉The only thing that can make your dreams and aspiration to be unachievable is the fear of failure

👉  Always  think of failure as a bumpy road on your journey to success, not a dead end.

👉 Do not run away from failure but embrace it as a chance to move to the next level, to become better, and stronger.

👉Know that every for every failure, there  is a valuable lesson waiting to be learned.

👉When you fail, ask yourself: “What can I learn from this? How can I improve next time?”

👉Embrace the growth mindset, and watch failures become stepping stones to your  triumph.

“Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.” —Dale Carnegie
Even if it is true that in order to reach what we want we will need to fail many times, it is also key to do everything to succeed with the smallest number of failures that we can, as failures are expensive not only in terms of the money we can lose, but also in terms of the time we waste and the anguish of failing once again at reaching our objectives, as this is what causes people eventually to give up when they were close to achieve their dreams.
Even though failure is subject to moulding us for greater good in the future, it doesn't mean that we should let ourselves fail. With every move and decision in life, we should be cautious and don't let ourselves ail. Yes, you can fail; it's inevitable, but the thing is, don't make yourself think that normalising failure is okay.
But of course, if it's inevitable, as long as we are not giving up, we can overcome any failures, and coping with mistakes and failures will make us stronger and will teach us a better lesson in life. But keeping the same mistakes and failures will mean that there is a problem with you. Fear of making mistakes and controlling the mistakes will be a necessary skill in life. But the question is, how many failures do you think you can tolerate? Not all people have the mindset of being strong and not easily giving up.
848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woes of gambling on: January 09, 2024, 06:05:53 AM
In casino gambling, the casino owner has a greater chance of winning, but that doesn't mean players don't have a chance to win, it all depends on how we manage the game, the most important thing is how we manage the game time, when we start and when we have to end. sometimes players are too greedy and lose their money

Greater chance of winning in terms of gaining big profit from players, but there are still a chance for some normal players to hit the jackpot prize, that is if you get lucky at that time and especially if no other fraud occurs with casino cards and machines. Gamblers should know how to properly handle what they win and should not consider it as if it's a stable job because in reality it is not.
I don't think that there are fraudulent casino websites out there; if there are, then they will not operate for too long as they are not complying with the fairness of business. It's just gambling games or casino games like slots or anything related to randomization. This kind of game is hard to win because the winning numbers or combinations are random, so the chances of winning are too small, especially in lotto. Let's say, for example, that Lotto is fraud. No, because the winning numbers are drawn live and at random. That's how the online casino works, especially for those kinds of games I've mentioned. But if you are very lucky or you are destined to win a jackpot, then congratulations to you. But remember, not all of us have that kind of luck, and not all of us will ever attain that luck in life. I especially don't waste much money or gamble in this kind of game, especially slot machines, because I know I have little to no chance of winning.
849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mental rehabilitation clinic. on: January 09, 2024, 01:36:36 AM
Now imagine that this gambling expert is you. What arguments will you give? What will you tell the patient about?
Please note that the patient will resist to the last. He will give counterarguments. For example, that he will get rich in the future, he’s just not lucky yet.
Simply I would say, "why are you here in this situation?" it may be harsh or my approach will harsh but that's what I think is most effective, I will make him realized the hard part of his action, first I will make him realize why he is in this rehabilitation facility, it means that he is beyond help and his family can't help him anymore or possible his family don't want to help him, in that way he may reflect in his actions and start to develop a regret which could be use to say to him that gambling is the cause of all this happenings, if he will still persist and believe that gambling may bring him into wealth then I will still throw him a harsh reality of his action until he realized the terror of gambling and its effects, the terror of himself who he cannot control and the future awaits him if he still don't stop in gambling.
850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's Your Exchange to Wallet Ratio? on: January 08, 2024, 11:53:35 PM
Well, it depends on the BTC I have or what kind of investment I make with my assets. If the coins or assets are for holdings, then I would leave them in a crypto currency wallet so that I would not use them or what, but if the assets are for trading or anything involving using the coins frequently, then I would put the assets in an exchange platform to avoid frequent transfers of coins and the fees, as today the transaction fees are high.
Well, it's safest and better to store your assets in a crypto wallet because we never know when you might accidentally place a trade or swap on the exchange platform, and also to avoid hackers who are targeting the exchange platform to find a victim.

I personally prefer this ratio of 50/50 in exchange and crypto wallet to ensure the balance of funds and a more dynamic way of storing the funds or assets.
851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Number of Merchants Accepting BTC Payments Surged by 174% in 2023 on: January 08, 2024, 11:24:22 PM
Well maybe because bitcoin is more exposed or known in american and european country, why bitcoin is being used and know in other country but their government are hesitant and doesn't have idea about the existence of bitcoin, that's why business can't adopt bitcoin or crypto currency payment method, while in america an europe in this country even the government doesn't fully adopt and accept crypto currency its up to the business on what payment method they will allow and yes most businesses in this 2 country arr taking a bold decision by adopting crypto currency payment, maybe a part of their strategy as in these country there are a lot of cryptocurrency holders or investors so it is not surprisingly thay these countries is stated to have a high percentage of business who accepting crypto currency payment method, its not an easy implementation but still someon is starting this kind of system which is a good indication that more and morr business might adopt crypto payments.
852  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Swap. Why and when you do swap your coins? on: January 08, 2024, 10:51:12 PM
Recently I found out about swapping possibilities in the desktop app of my cold wallet. I kind of understand what is the swap however still not sure my understanding is correct. Hence few questions regarding swapping of coins:

1. Why would you swap one coin to another?
Well, I think it is. Obvious, I swap my assets from another if for example I need other asset or coins to use in some other things for example BTC to USDT, I swapped some of my BTC or satoshi to usd so thaat I could buy other coins, or I want to make my profit in stable asset which is USDT. Or for example in crypto games, there is a specific coins then swapping from BTC to another is the way.

2. When do you decide to do it? Like what is the indicator that swap can be profitable?
Yes? Maybe? Well there will be a slight difference if you swap a coin from another, lets say you have $100 and you want to buy a specific coin like ethereum or BTC, then when you saw that your $100 grows more then swapping into another coins which is more stable will be profitable and a good option to avoid your profit to get back again or avoid the volatility of a coin like BTC

6. Any advice you would want to share with beginners?

Swapping coins into another is not a form of trading or making profit or money, use it only if necessary as some exchange requires a fee when you do swap, also be careful on what exchange you will use there are some scam exchanges scattered around there so be cautious.
853  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading bots on Binance on: January 08, 2024, 10:24:19 PM
Recently I came across trading bots on binance and found it interesting since they were giving the option to use geometric and arithmetic setups for trading bots for free.
Normally, third party trading bot providers charge a fees for using them on exchanges but here we have them directly from binance for free.
We have the option to use them for spot trading as well as futures which is good for short selling and leveraged trading although we should use them with high caution.
I just gave it a try and I think it's good to have an option. What do you guys think ?

I don't know, I still have not tried these features of Binance, but in my opinion, is it safe to use or is it worth it to use? Well, maybe because why will Binance add a feature that would destroy their image? Maybe it is useful, but the thing is, does it have accuracy in trading? What I mean is that trading bots or AI bots used for trading are still not proven to have high accuracy and a high win rate because AI is still limited and can't be trusted. I personally don't acknowledge the usage of trading bots or AI trading because I know they still have a limit and can't guarantee a good profit, but it's up to you if you will try it and let us know if its features are useful and trusted. But do you guys think AI trading is the future of trading? Because if yes, then where is the balance there? If all the traders are getting a profit or win trade, then there will be no money to circulate the market.
854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the kind of world you want to live in? [read] on: January 08, 2024, 09:40:39 PM
There is a possibility for this, but of course, we bitcoin holders and investors will let it happen. No, of course, even though the government is still finding its way to crypto currency, they still can't take control of it. That's why, even today, they still haven't approved of bitcoin or crypto currency because they know they can't get anything from it.

I would rather bitcoin be still anonymous, wherein you are free to hide your identity in the network where your only identity is your wallet address. We need privacy, and Bitcoin is that one that gives that privacy. That's why even though the government is still in pursuit of Bitcoin, I'm against the fact that they want to control it, because if this happens, we will not have an asset that we can freely earn from. I don't want bitcoin to lose its value just because others want to make it public and controlled by anyone.
855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be worried or comfortable seeing your elderly mother gambling? on: January 08, 2024, 12:27:18 PM
Will I be comfortable if I know my mother is gambling, or will it be okay for me if my mother is gambling? Yes, first of all, we can't do anything about that. Remember, they are our mother or parents. Maybe try gambling back to their days, and we can't just stop them, but of course we will have a reason to stop them and to limit them when we see that gambling doesn't bring good things to her or if I see that she is wasting too much money on gambling.

Why would I feel uncomfortable when my parents gamble? I will limit or stop them; it's my responsibility as a child to help them and stop them from doing things that aren't good for them. Based on the photo, an elderly person is playing or betting. It's normal for the elderly to gamble, but yeah, I see frustration in the gambler, but we can't judge them right away because she has already lost a lot of money.
856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one did you use to gamble with more on: January 08, 2024, 08:30:37 AM
I choose live matches (in-play) because I like the thrill of betting, for example, on NBA matches. My favourite in NBA betting is that while watching, I can bet anytime I want, but of course there is a limit to the time where I can place my bet. Still, I like it more than anything else because I also like to play basketball and I'm getting exhausted from the game. Also, those card games I like more live, and I see that real person do the shaffle. I get entertained, and I also get thrilled by the match. The bonus is that I can do it anywhere and anytime, so if there is a live game, I will join, but of course if I still have funds to gamble.

I also stake before the match if, for instance, I have to do something or I'm at work, so I can still play bets before the game and only monitor the results after the match.
857  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Trends Among Beginner Traders on: January 08, 2024, 07:39:50 AM
This happens very often, especially in cryptocurrency Telegram and WhatsApp groups. There are even those who are determined to open a VIP signal, but the material they use for their members is taken from Google or even signals from other VIPs. And in the group there are many newbies who are finally tempted by their PNL trading screenshots. This is very unfortunate, but most old traders and pro people are silent and sometimes they focus on trading and their own portfolios. They also rarely show off and tend to be closed when it comes to trading and PNL issues.
Sad reality, but it's happening. You will notice that in social media, there are a lot of advertisements that are about trading or influencers that are flexing their luxurious lives to attract potential investors and attract many new traders to their channels. What is the purpose? Simply to get profit from them, sad reality again: most of those channels are scams. Try to observe and join multiple telegram channels about bitcoin trading. You will encounter 2 channels that have the same postings, and you will notice that the other one is delayed because it is only copying from another channel. If those beginners in trading rely on this channel, then their trading journey is on the wrong path, and surely they will never get into something. That's why it's most important to not listen to and rely on groups specifically in social media. Yes, it can be a reference, but we should know how to distinguish which is a scam or not.
858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: January 08, 2024, 02:02:14 AM
Theoretically, Yes you will be able to predict and win all games.
Practically, it is next to impossible to hack the algorithm and if someone succeeded to do so, the system will detect the pattern and lock you out.

- Jay -
Completely correct , the system  will surely detect those who  have been closer to their algorithm and yes will either locked or banned your account confiscating  your funds , Gambling sites now are aware of either cheating or taking deep into their Algo so it will trigger the alarm and the team will confront or declare against your account.

Lucky for you if make it out before the system took action , but normally you will not because Gambling site is money making machine to favor the team and owner , and not the players.
Well, I don't think the account itself will suffer from the banning or locked account because an algorithm is a set of finite rules or instructions to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, meaning this algorithm is being used for the gambling games to generate the winning number or winning choices, so if you can access the website and its system, then you can access the system that is generating the algorithm combination for the gambling games, and you can always win 100%. Of course, if you are smart, you will not use your account, right? What may go wrong if, for example, the system or the website itself notices that you are always winning? Then they will go suspicious and investigate the case.
Technology is powerful; if you can locate the vulnerability of a website, you can access its system, and the favour will be in your hands, but there is a greater risk for that, and as we know, it is illegal. If you are caught hacking their system, then it's a sentence for you.
859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effortlessly promoting Bitcoin, raising the curiosity of none bitcoin ethusiast on: January 07, 2024, 11:30:16 PM
Introduction
In our today world, promotion2. Our physical items
This is also a superb way of raising the curiosity of a none Bitcoin ethusiast. When Items like shirts, cups, stickers, etc contains Bitcoin logo, and it's present in major parts of your house/environment, it would certainly raise questions from the people around. Sometimes, it might happen that the none Bitcoin ethusiast isn't the social type, but when he/she continues to see something that isn't familiar, then curiosity is certain.
I actually agree with an idea like this, but at the time.
And for now it seems like this idea has risks for those who use it, because currently everyone, all criminals and all groups know about Bitcoin, and also know that Bitcoin is very valuable or you could say digital gold. And bad people, even not bad people, can become bad when they see a Bitcoin symbol or picture somewhere or something that someone is using because they will think you have a lot of Bitcoins and they want to commit a crime by taking your Bitcoins. And maybe by kidnapping just to get a private wallet or other means, just to get Bitcoin.
So in my opinion, something like that is best avoided even though it is a great way to introduce Bitcoin, but for security and convenience it is best not to do it.
Should we then consider the subject of Bitcoin as a secret topic to be discussed only within a closed group?

The fear of being haunted by anti Bitcoiners or kidnappers or hackers is always there, but somehow, if we were to find ourselves in an environment where we feel the persons around could do good with the knowledge, mostly to either be as an extra source of income or as a means of payment for their international transactions or as a means to invest in the future, then we shouldn't fail to share the knowledge and educate such persons.
Well, it will depend on the environment or the country itself. I notice that in my country there is no one who is anti-Bitcoin; maybe there are persons with malicious intentions towards bitcoin holders, but the thing is, is it enough to be afraid? For me, no, if I want, I will spread awareness about bitcoin or introduce it to the crowd whenever there is a chance, because why not? Its good to share this kind of opportunity with others, and it will benefit us who are currently holders or investors of bitcoin, because more investors added equals the price movement will be greater, and it will give us more windows of opportunity to earn. I don't want to gatekeep those who want to learn about bitcoin, so I will not be afraid of such things. Yes,  there is a risk, but I think it will be worth it. Of course, I will not flex and reveal my assets to avoid being targeted with malicious intentions.
860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: January 07, 2024, 11:07:07 PM
I can only see a sudden fall if Bitcoin ETF is not approved and you may as well add your input on this. However, from now till 2026 will be promising for BTC as there would be favorable outcome. It is a game of patience.
If the ETF is not approved I see a dump as well, and to be honest I would be quite happy because it would give me more time to buy more satoshis, unfortunately I wish I had more and I see the price that just keeps going up and up, so a dump for me would be more than welcome. Anyway let's not forget that the ETF approval could also be a sell the news event, so we could have a dump either way.
I like you being optimistic there, while many investors or bitcoin holders fear that if ETF doesn't approve bitcoin, then bitcoin price could experience a great decrease in price, but for us who are seeing this happening as an opportunity, an opportunity to buy more satoshi and to invest more so that after some time when bitcoin price gets back from its price before the fall, then its a profit for us. But still, I don't think that even if the ETF doesn't approve bitcoin, it will affect the bitcoin price too much, because over the years, even without its approvals, bitcoin has shown its potential, kept on increasing in price, and kept on setting a new ATH, so I'm confident that bitcoin will still remain at its current price or remain in its zone of price. Anyway, let's wait for the result. Either way, we investors can benefit from it. If approved, then bitcoin might increase more; if not, then we can bring more bitcoin and wait for the increase in price.
