How profitable exactly is 1 KH/s? Isn't that only 1,000 hashes per second, and a GH/s is one million? Why would somebody choose you over someone who offers a GH/s and for cheaper?

Actually, we need 'X' more than possible. If they used 'BTC', it could be claimed by any country that begins with 'B'. 'X' represents it's not owned by any country.

Okay so even if the majority that have voted think that they should be banned we have no way to enforce it. I guess once more it means that it is all about users educating themselves and employing common sense when it comes to trading - which should be the case irrespective of selling accounts.

That's just how it's *always* been on bitcointalk. There are always scammers abound here. In a place where scammers used to just get a "scammer" tag instead of being banned (and now we just have the trust system), that should come as no surprise. I'm also not at all surprised that people sell accounts, given these signature campaigns.

Agreeing. Sketchy things have always been going on on BitcoinTalk, but in the more recent years, only legal sketchy things. Even if the accounts are banned - they could just use TOR or a VPN, and sell them through other sites or via P.M.

The US would be the country who would lose the most, if bitcoin were to take the place of the dollar, at least for international trade, but you think this is all a conspiracy by the NSA.

I think you do overestimate them.

I think some people do that, too. I wonder if they think that if Bitcoin becomes more valuable than almost any precious metal traded, which is more than any currency, they'll just let it get off scott free. Not to mention, the 'X' in 'XBT' means something.

I've never thought about that is this argument. What if USD was indeed worth a little then? It's not exactly the highest currency now, with the GBP and Euro. And the price falls sometimes, not as rapidly as thought of, though. So it is possible that Bitcoin could be $100,000, but what if those USD are €90,000 or £80,000?

Yes, a million dollars can't necessarily last everyone - but it'd be foolish to claim it isn't a lot of money.

Yep, it's tough out here for a Full Member even, LOL! I thought once I attained that rank, I was golden. But it seems having a Senior or Hero account really pays these days. I wonder if that will continue for long.

It depends. They could close some campaigns, or only allow campaigns for Senior and Hero members. Which ever happens, hopefully I'm a Senior by then.

full members can still have pretty decent signatures -- colors, long length, links. i'd be surprised if they got cut out entirely.
That would suck, yes, but you know... Some of the signature campaign owners are unpredictable. Like how FXO and Up/Down were fighting over the top deal. And now that the price has gone up, no idea what the latter will do.

Any cryptocurrency can replace PayPal. They're both digital means of money transactions. PayPal has so many errors it's going to be hard to - VERY HARD to even make a list.

First, suppose you own 1000 GH/s of mining equipment and that mining equipment will earn 5 to 6 BTC over the next several months. Would you rent it out for 4.4 BTC?

Second, don't forget that you also have to maintain the equipment and pay for 5 years worth of electricity.

Does that sound rational? It doesn't to me.

Didn't even think about that. Electricity bills depend on where you normally live, so it might be costly if they live in any of the metro or huge cities. Which could totally mess up the ordeal. And anything can happen to their company or the profitability of rigs in that time range.

I don't think it's worse than what Metcalfe said. He said the Internet would literally crash, or 'die out on itself'. At a Internet conference, he took a blender and put some water in it. He proceeded to put the article in which he said that, and drunk it in front of everyone.

Anyway: Can't believe anybody believed this guy. He's not even holding up to his word. But if a Bitcoiner did this, It'd be hands on loose.

How is that sad? A millionaire is a individual or person whose net worth is over a million units in a chosen currency.

It's sad because being a millionaire was every American kid's dream a generation ago.
By the time we got there, its not even that much money anymore.

That's odd. With one million dollars, I can buy a average house were I live. And at least cover some living expenses for some time.

House - Average where I live is at least 125K-200K. 3-5 Bedroom, possibly 2 bathrooms. A few thousand sq ft, not over 6,000 sq ft  - mansion. Also possibly a few acres of land around it.

Food - Averagely spent on food is $175 a week, according to Google, or in that range. A year is about 52 weeks. $9,100 dollars a year, approximately.

Car - Not really fancy for a car. Thinking off the top of my head, let's say a Hummer. That costs about $10K, and $80 for gas every week where I live. $4,160 a year + $10K for car. For any repairs, let's say a extra $10K.

Clothes - Kind of preppy guy. Going to assume in the $400-$1,000 range. Various sites say $121-$200 range, though, so I'm going with the latter. $200 spent monthly, I guess. $2,400.

Utilities + Health + Leisure - I can't go without Internet, and housing is to take into mind. Plus cable, and other things. At least $665 monthly, which turns into $7,980 annually. Other services, such as my phone bill and such would probably be around $427 a month, $5,124.

Average Total - $213,764. Either I'm missing something, or a million dollars is now the ZWD compared to a dollar.


its a good perspective.  still, where i live a house is more than that (at least the one my wife wants)....and college tuition for kids..yikes... it eats up lots of moolah quick. 



The reason why I didn't include college tuition is because it depends on what college you go to. For example, where I live we have Community, Private, and University. Same reason why I didn't mention a kid's boarding school tuition, or a private school's.
