861  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: In 2015, faucets are bad for bitcoin on: April 13, 2015, 10:55:53 PM
Faucets are what they are. There have been countless "earn money online" schemes before btc was ever invented. Nothing new here. Neither pay out enough to be worth the trouble. It doesn't really reflect on btc itself. At least it doesn't devalue it, if anything it shows its true value. Work for a week clicking captchas and get 20 cents, it shows btc isn't free, in fact, it's valuable enough that no one is going to give it away. Mostly I wonder about the revenue these faucet sites take in. I ran a few blogs a few years ago and after countless hours doing SEO and creating key word rich content plus building decent traffic I was luck to make a few hundred bucks a month. Wasn't worth the effort and adsense still banned me for reasons they never made clear.
There is no free lunch, faucets are at best a "game" you won't get rich.

If true this would be all over the place. It would be HUGE news. That right there is your proof this is a spoof.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something big for Bitcoin coming April 15th on: April 13, 2015, 09:10:35 PM
it's an attempt at viral marketing. on april 15th an exchange or a gambling site will announce it is open for business, a la "Monero is coming!"

It works though. I looked (and posted) here. I will make a note to NOT use whatever service they are pumping. How could you trust a service that can't even be straight forward about announcing itself?

whoops! Found it! sounds like a pyramid scheme dressed up in a lot of fancy concept ---> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1020448.0;all

Oh thats what this is all about Cheesy But Hashnest is also from China and the most reliable cloudmining with a good standing company. And all these other Chinese scammers can hardly formulate a sentence not to mention building a believable website.

I think with the comment above yours, I don't think he meant ALL chinese are scammers, obviously.

Hashnest/Bitmain are very reliable, however they could fold any day and shut up shop, this is just what happens. Highly unlikely imo, though.

The same thing has been said before about AM before the whole FC went 'missing' thing.

The same thing has been said before about AM, NOT.
Yes, they were shilled for, but both companies (Asicminer and Rockminer) had major problems and were in bad shape.
In fact FC went 'missing' at least partly because of that I would think.
I believe FC went missing 100% because of that. like some entitled spoilt brat, as soon as problems became a challenge he books it. the twerp.
i wanted to believe maybe some unforeseeable problem came up, some "act of God" but the silence is what speaks loudest here. FC and AM could not handle the heat, so they fled the kitchen, let the house burn down.
I really hope this follows them around. million bucks wont last forever, he'll need to work sometime in the future. He wont work in anything tech related if I find out about it.

If the post was deleted in the first place re posting it is still a deletable offence. It's worse, cuz now it's spam as well. Your just going to get people in trouble here.
866  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What do you think about this company name: on: April 13, 2015, 04:47:48 AM
that name sound difficult even to spell, how about bitcatch ?
I had to look twice to see if you didn't type "biyatch"
867  Economy / Speculation / 2016 Halving: Could It Actually Kill BTC? on: April 10, 2015, 07:58:57 PM
I was just thinking this morning, about the reward halving upcoming sometime 2016. Most ppl here are pretty assured that when the halving happens it will guarantee that BTC will increase in value. There have been plenty of guarantees over the last year or so and none have panned out so far. If BTC remains at its current performance level, wouldn't the halving merely drive any miners operating at a thin margin out, make mining not profitable enough for new miners to get in the game and basically slow the network? I understand supply and demand, but demand drives that, not necessarily supply. If no one wants a 200$ btc, it doesn't matter how many there are or how hard they are to mine?

just a shower thought, what's your take? and please, limit your "BTC CAN NEVAR DIE and you sir are a cock!" statements to provable truths, not opinionated speculation please. BTC could die and very well might. I hope not, but that isn't the point of this thread.

What do you think will really happen when the halving comes? anyone thought through any scenarios?

869  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What's more lucrative - mining or high rank signature campaign? on: April 10, 2015, 11:04:18 AM
Let's see, with the sig campaign I'm doing it would take ten months to earn 1.4 BTC, so ~150 months (12 years) to earn 25 btc. (Providing they continue to exist or pay out the same rate or I don't get drunk and shoot my mouth off and get b& lol.)
To mine 25 btc with one hardware purchase you would need around 100 TH/s to do it in a month and get a head on the diff increases. Maybe 50 TH/s might get you there if you run them longer, but it is the law of diminishing returns. I mean, if you had 1 TH/s it would earn ok for a month or two but it would be useless after six and you still wouldn't have anywhere near 25 btc

I just thought of the idea of posting 60x a month for 12 years, and now I need a drink!
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 8,400 bitcoin on: April 10, 2015, 10:35:25 AM
I remember that site from way back 2012! The creator sold it and everybody freaked because they didn't know if the new owner was trust worthy, like malware and the likes. Looks like it's kosher.
Good.
I always liked that website. During the big boom it was bananas. Those were the days!
I hope he builds a iOS version.
871  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Official CaVirtex.com Thread on: April 10, 2015, 10:01:42 AM
I was happy with cavirtex as a buyer, at least they were reliable (for me) there's not a lot to choose from up here in Canadia. Exchanges seem to come any go.

I went through a lot of hoops to get verified too. Are they going to honor that when they re open?
872  Other / Meta / Re: Remove All Faucets from Service Announcements on: April 10, 2015, 05:24:12 AM
one place for all the faucets makes sense. they are all over the "Newbies" section, which maybe makes sense more than service announcement. but if they were confined to one specific sub alone, that would erradicate their presence everywhere else. i found this in "Project Development" (!)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1006879.0 i mean he talks like he's testing it, but...
873  Other / Meta / Re: Add a top level topic to Bitcointalk => "Security" on: April 10, 2015, 05:11:56 AM

Is there enough topics to add a "Security" board? Also, if this is going to be added, we need a new name as there already a board named "Securities"*.

* https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=78.0
'
they need to rename the "Securities" sub "Palookaville" and move it to the trash, really. call your board "Security Discussion" then list all the various subs.

Quote
I agree on getting a separate board with these type of concerns. As a newbie back then, I have to sift through pages of Development and Technical Discussion before finding the right topic that I'm looking for. It is very time-consuming if you're a newbie--especially if you aren't used to the forum's design and whatnot. A separate child-board is ideal IMO, as it will greatly lessen the time of finding a security-related topic for newbies and for the older users as well.

+111 I'm of absolutely the same mind. I have no idea how much work goes into re arranging things on this forum software, but im guessing you just create "new" on the template.

There will be a cavalcade of dissent over the subjects to be given subs. I mean, there is service discussion, project development, hardware(?)

I really like the idea. wouldn't know where to start.
874  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any Faucet that pays directly to XAPO wallet... on: April 10, 2015, 04:56:01 AM
the sarutobi game is also like a faucet... and it pays out about as much as one! you can collect in game tokens to exchange for a 50 bit tip. so you get a few pennies just for playing it, and directly to xapo, as that is its only option.
I never really open my xapo to see how much is in there. I only have one because of sarutobi, lol. and it couldn't be more than 20 cents worth of coin anyway. But at least the sarutobi iOS game is amusing. faucets are depressing to me. the pennies you earn shouldn't be any motivation, you will earn more by simply applying yourself to more constructive activities.
875  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 09, 2015, 11:05:51 AM
I think you need to go after david fan. where ever he is, he's the head of the company now. I'm guessing FC has gone over to the competition...good work "crushing" them, you fried f%ckin cat.

and this old gem from the same salon...

I just wonder...was this "disappearance" already planned back in july?
876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SARUTOBI Returns!! on: April 09, 2015, 07:33:45 AM
I never stopped playing it, it's been fine the whole time. only pays out about 50 bits and takes forever to get enough points, but i always found it amusing for a few minutes. I think it's the music.
anyway, google only removed it because it was confusing. you had to collect black bitcoins (actual coins floating in the sky) and get enough to cash in for a reward, usually a few bits, but more depending on how much is in the pot. you also collected gold bitcoins in the same manner, these only have in-game value. People would see their score and think they were supposed to get that many btc, like, its easy to get 100s of them.

now you trade in collected btc for satoshis and collect bananas.
877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just to complicated for the average person to use.. on: April 09, 2015, 06:11:00 AM
1980: No one will ever have a personal computer it is to complicated to use and serves no purpose.

1990: No one will ever use the internet it's to complicated to use and serves no purpose have you heard of a video recorder.

Only half true.
It was pretty much understood, right from the start, that both technologies were tools with tremendous potential. The user experience was tricky at first, yet people persisted and, as predicted back in the day, the technologies gradually became more and more user friendly.
Email and mobile phones follow a similar pattern.
What is a killer to btc is; losses. There is next to zero forgiveness for human error and no built in or surrounding theft prevention assurances. If you lose your keys, send to wrong address or get caught in a hack your btc are gone forever. Even though precautions are available and with proper knowledge losses can be avoided, it's still too easy for the average user to lose btc, And even a little loss is too much.
None of this is BTC's fault, inherently but any such occurrance leaves a lasting bad impression.
There's also the unregulated nature of the thing. Most people want rules and regulation and see them as protections.
Anarchocapatalism is a bit advanced for most regular joes.
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statements that precede bitcoin poverty on: April 09, 2015, 05:32:16 AM
I can put my BTC to work helping grow the BTC ecosystem and totally make a profit too! These BTC securities are awesome!
879  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 09, 2015, 05:25:39 AM
So how much btc did FC empty from The AM wallet, anyway. I've seen the likely wallet, the one posted when this all came out early March. That one lost about 4/5s if I remember correctly. Like 38000 btc or something. And there's btc still in it too. Why wouldn't he just empty it? Hodling? Why would he need the specific amount? It's over a million. Seems like a clue, what is the logic?

This silence is killing me, the trail of roast cat is gone cold
880  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Quality writer or University English grad/student needed (must enjoy marijuana) on: April 08, 2015, 04:40:13 AM
so... I am still unclear...

The various alt. coins (POT, CANN, DOPE, THC, WeTk, CCN, STV, Bonger, etc.) are given to customers as a loyalty bonus for shopping with BTC? Like a Canadian Tire Money type reward points, but customer is rewarded for using BTC?

or are the various alt.coins purchased at the store?

I see you are selling vapes and pipes n stuff, that's easy, I am unclear on how the transactions work. as far as I can tell you plan to accept cash at par, but if I purchase using BTC you reward me with a kickback of marijuana related cryptos? If that is the case, its a great idea. But I'm still confused. Can you ELI5? your charts and diagrams don't help me any. sorry...

Also... shouldn't you really try and focus on selling "medical" marijuana? I just got back from L.A. and they have these chains of medical marijuana dispensaries. I didn't catch the name, but they are everywhere, and all have the same signage. a green circle with a white cross. they can get you approved and carded in under forty minutes, or so their store-fronts advertize. its all franchised. They have "barkers" right out in the street trying to lure you in. You can get one (1) joint for $2!!!! Amaze! Someone down there in California has their shit together.
