861  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Plagiarism and how to avoid it. on: October 09, 2018, 05:59:20 PM
Well, first, thanks for OP, this is very helpful. But, there is something I want to ask more specifically.

As you said, "Unintentional plagiarism is just as damaging to the reputation of the forum as the spambots' plagiaristic activities" yes it, "unintentional plagiarism" which concerns me as a newbie in this forum.

What if someone didn't intend to do Plagiarism, but, in the end he was detected doing Plagiarism. as an example; I made a thread or replied to a post, and I did not intend to do Plagiarism because I only write what was in my mind without looking for references from out there (doing a google search, for example), but, apparently, what I write has similarities or exactly the same as someone's writing (either in this forum, or in an article out there).

So my question is, how to make sure that what I write is not someone's writing on this forum or someone out there?,
because I thought it would be painful if someone did not commit Plagiarism but he was banned for reasons of Plagiarism.

Please guide me!

Regards.  Smiley

You have raised some valid point but truth be told. Where the issus of plagiarism occur is not of just a word or two words but a full sentence. There is no way our thoughts can be the same and even if we want to say the same thing we will say it differently. But that does not give room to paraphrase because that would be so glaring and you begin to wonder that, except these two individuals are the same, they cannot have thoughts that is similar as this.

Also, there are some general statement that one person can lay claim to and the use of it cannot amount to plagiarism. Words such as "health is wealth", "money is life", "there is no dignity in begging", "there are unwritten rules on the forum" etc. Using these words to drive home your point by adding "there is a saying that..." would absolve any form of plagiarism.
862  Other / Archival / Re: Question About Bounty and KYC??? on: October 09, 2018, 05:43:31 PM
snip

However, the only argument they put forward is because of the exclusion of nationalities certain countries and the abuse by one persons with several accounts out of greed. But the issue again is that, most of the bounties don't use it for such purpose because I have read several threads on the reputation forum seeing people cheating bounties with different accounts and some even using another person's username to register for bounties while the bounty manager either ignore or not doing his job which further points to the argument that the information they collect, is for other purposes.

KYC really helps the management to identify those having multiple accounts and breaking the rules.  However, I am very disinclined to the bounty campaigns having KYC, because it is too risky to post your picture with your identification card in it.  I do not know if the bounty campaign is just a scam and will use my identity (identity theft) for other scams.  Not a risk worth taking for me.

If the bounty manager is excellent in his job, I think KYC is not necessary for he/she can pinpoint who is cheating and who is not.

Its absolutely not necessary if the manager can properly monitor those on the campaign. It might not be perfect but to a large extent it will be curtailed. But the problem usually arises from the unending amount of people they are recruiting to join the campaign that are too difficult to manage. Imagine having over 500 bounty hunters in various categories of the campaign. How exactly would that be manage. A simple hire of more than one managers to group the participants for proper control would solve the problem.

Aside that, there are threads on the forum that the connection is so glaring and the manager won't bother to check it out. Its even bad to certain point that concerned members of the forum would even report to the manager but rather than acting, he ignores while some others you see their post and wonder how a sane person would want to hire this individual. What do these category of people have in common, they all ask for KYCs. Now what exactly do they use it for, if not for some shady things.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What problems cryptocurrency will face in the near future? on: October 09, 2018, 05:36:37 PM
Specifically in the next 5 years, what do you think will be the greatest challenge or problem that the crypto market will face, and how do you think the market will overcome this problem? I also wonder if AI can help crypto trading safer and free from hacking and scamming?

In the next five years, its sure that crypto currency would have grown beyond what we could envisaged at this moment because studying the recent trend of researches in the next five years everything would have crystalized to the surprise of many. The only challenge I see will be the conflict between faiths. Five years from now, of course several countries would have been more open to accepting the new currency. The concern would be the people who will still be conscious of the religious connotations a currency that is uniform to the world will be bring and that will be faced with series of propaganda on another level but the moment that can be surpassed, there is nothing else holding things down.
864  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New service of mixing BTC (MIXERCOIN.CO) on: October 09, 2018, 06:25:36 AM
time of the mix ranges from 15 minutes to 1 hour

We have a plan to
open the same service on the Onion

Since you are announcing your service, I think this should be made in the Service Announcement section of the forum.

Pardon my bluntness, one first timing issue, how do you expect someone to send his coin to you for mixing and have to want for close to 1hour in other to get his coin back in which within that one hour a lot of things could have happened. Several confirmations which makes the fund gone forever. Not that I am saying your business is up for that but you must remove all elements of doubt in this kind of business which is purely based on trust.

On the second one, mixing service is based on complete anonymity and the onion version should be announced with any version you are announcing as that is when people tend to take you serious not that its in development. Again, by the time DDOS attack is launched at your service, its the onion version that would be the saving grace. Wishing you all the best.
865  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Positive or negative promotion strengthens crypto market? on: October 09, 2018, 05:32:50 AM
Positive promotions brings more investors fall into crypto market. Yes and this is agreed. I would like to say that negative promotion filters strong and confident investors in the market. How do you see it? I say we need strong and confident investors in the crypto market then investors who just look for huge profits a sudden and leave out for another platform if they do not see profits within the time they expect. Whats your thought on it?

For a business that is established, no publicity is bad publicity because every thing can be turned into more popularity. A perfect example is Nike whose advertisement at specific times have been riddled with controversies but comparing their revenue at this period brought about significant increase to suggest that even the bad publicity is good for them. But the same cannot be said to be for other companies that just one bad publicity sent them out of business for example can't remember the name now, the company with data issue with Facebook.

In the case of bitcoin, I think that positive promotions is what focus should be made as that could also be interpreted to be bad because of some certain people who are bent on seeing its end. On the strong investors, we actually need more than that in the crypto market because the percentage of the strong investors are not enough to push to the intended height but the interest of both the weak, disturbed, uncertain, and once a while investors needs to be met in the market.
866  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I think i bought bitcoin in the early days need help! on: October 08, 2018, 08:13:01 PM
Okay guys so I was a teenager at the time i THINK I bought bitcoin I remember playing conquer online and it was around christmas time where I saw there was a discount for bitcoin purchase of dragonballs (I know corny).
my mom tried buying me some and basically we just couldnt figure it out I think my mom tried calling for a refund from whichever company we bought it from and found out it was irreversible. If anyone knows of which company we could of bought from back then would really help! if I find some ill compensate for time!

The fact is several companies that have started back in the day, only few of them are still in existence while several of them have equally stop the support for bitcoin because times have changed, their developers have moved on to bigger things while others were frustrated out of business by the long arm of the law.

You need to go to the origin of the transaction because even if you get to know the company, its hard to claim anything if you don't have basic information. If its a web wallet service provider, without the password and username to access its gone forever and if its not, if its in an address, if you don't have the private key, you just don't have access to it. So, start ransacking the likely place information about might be kept in the house as that is your surest way to riches now.
867  Other / Archival / Re: Question About Bounty and KYC??? on: October 08, 2018, 06:36:44 PM
I recently encountered this so call KYC, are all bounty nowadays required to have KYC? if so where do I usually see the form for this,
On the last bounty that I've joined, The Social Media Market, I saw the KYC requirement on their telegram account, which I don't usually join, luckily, my husband join the telegram account of this bounty and saw that they required bounty hunter for KYC.

While I still understand the reason why ICOs engage in KYC these days because of the need to guide against the use of "dirty funds in investing in their projects, I still don't understand why bounties would want to engage in that if not for shady things because as bounty is, its the recruitment of freelancers to help you promote your work after which you pay them to go their ways. Nothing is connecting the two parties afterwards.

Let's wait where he/she begs, "..won't happen again, promise", "..I'm sick and this is the only source of income I had", "..My family will starve and we'll die" and many more  Grin Grin

After the first evidence posted to show that he is guilty, I knew there won't be any response from his end beyond that. Its unfortunate that a higher rank member of the could be caught engaging is attitude such as this and not something that happened long ago which the argument of "when I was a newbie" or "I didn't know the rules" could have been put forward even though that is not tenable.

This is a lesson to anyone who is blinded by post that someone is watching you. People are not checking your posts for merit purpose, but also to know if you break any rule of the forum whether written or unwritten.
869  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-08] Bitcoin’s Low Volatility Might Mean Price Manipulation Is Waning on: October 08, 2018, 05:16:18 PM
Legislators and regulators might view Bitcoin’s price stabilization as a positive sign. Investors may also be more likely to see Bitcoin as a potential replacement of gold as a store of value.

https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoins-low-volatility-might-mean-price-manipulation-is-waning/

This is another angle to look at things which further confirms the saying that ''there is good in every situations''. However, I don' think because of the stabilization experienced in the past couple of weeks would then start to attract investors to the market that would make bitcoin a perfect alternative to other commodities of value. It goes beyond that. For one, the current phenomenon is not what is fine with everybody because we all want an higher price especially when we have seen periods of unimaginable increase and no matter how, people won't be settled with this current situation no matter how long it tarries. Secondly, majority of market participants enjoys the volatility because its at that point, their return on investment is more guaranteed within a short period of time compared to this dragging scenerio.
870  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: US Government Agencies Up Blockchain Analysis Contracts on: October 08, 2018, 05:00:14 PM
https://twitter.com/lawmaster/status/1044273666236837893

https://diar.co/volume-2-issue-38/

Scroll down to the second article. Some interesting reading about the stats of US government spending on blockchain analysis.

Unsurprisingly the IRS is number one. The second is US customs and immigration. I wonder what the angle is there.

Here's the countdown in full in USD expenditure.

IRS   2,191,835
ICE   1,537,945
FBI   1,142,671
Fiscal Service   330,552
DEA   215,333
SEC   184,480
CFTC 117,372

The angle of the IRS is very straight forward and they should be commended for it. If there is any revenue generating body that so active in its duties, ready for the future and whose both rich and poor does not want to have any conflict with, its the IRS. They understand this and realize fast individuals and corporate bodies are using bitcoin and to evade tax couple with the challenge they have to face in getting warrants just to get information released to them to perform their duties, the best way is to study the subject matter itself. The good news is that it point to the direction that there is a future to the blockchain without which it would be wasting of tax payer money to research a short life-span project. The bad news however, is when they finish the research and are coming out with a robust policy, it will become almost impossible to hide.

The angle of the customs and immigration is what I am yet to phantom but it would not be unconnected to ensuring a more efficient discharge of their duties and the ability to track goods in real time and also eliminate the issue of smuggling to a large extent.
871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $50,000 LOST TO BITCOIN ATM SCAM IN AUSTRALIA GEORGI GEORGIEV on: October 08, 2018, 04:37:34 PM
With all these people with bad intentions keeps flooding the crypto space, it becomes hard everyday to argue against the use of KYCs by every service providers in the crypto industry. How can people focus on vulnerable people in the society who income is not enough for them and wanting to do the right thing with the law which is why they are in the position of weakness that the society has put them only to be robbed of their resources by those who wants to make wealth and flaunt it on social media, clubs, casinos etc.

With adequate KYC, I believe this people can be made to pay for their as it on an ATM that the provider is expected every thing done on their ATM is traceable and the moment this cannot be done, we should stop deceiving ourselves about bitcoin going mainstream because things like this are what decisions makers would continue to rely upon to wage war against crypto.
872  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC to Begin Reviewing 9 Rejected Bitcoin ETFs on: October 08, 2018, 07:37:09 AM
Hope this good news will add positive trading volume to all cryptocurrency, The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has set a late October deadline to begin reviewing proposed rule changes that would allow several regulated exchange operators to list bitcoin ETF products on their trading platforms.
source of this news  https://www.ccn.com/resurrection-sec-to-begin-reviewing-9-rejected-bitcoin-etfs/

Just like everyone else have expressed their opinions, I will have to agree with them that there is no need to start to boost hope over an uncertainty that the chance of failing is higher than it being accepted.

Having read the whole of the article, it sure brings some beam of hope by highlighting that the previous rejections was done by the employees if SEC and now its to be reviewed by the commissioners and at the same time announcing that one of the commissioners is a pro-cryptocurrency but nothing is said about the other commissioners and when issues get to a head, its always subject to vote and no matter how valid points raised, the number of votes makes the difference. Another issue was the proposed timing when the review will be completed which has been proposed to be sometimes next year. This shows that its mere a way of increasing the hope of crypto enthusiast and nothing about making real difference.
873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshis' absence make bitcoin truly decentralized? on: October 08, 2018, 07:26:53 AM
Ethereum founder Vitalek Buletin recently expressed his intention to step back from the helms as he believes the protocol can now run spontaneously without his presence, https://dailyhodl.com/2018/10/05/vitalik-buterin-preparing-to-detach-himself-from-ethereum-says-platform-can-run-without-him/

I feel the absence of the creator makes the system truly decentralized and it can't be regarded as a financial pyramid.
Satoshi as the creator could have serious effect on the bitcoin market if he wasn't anonymous. His catching a cold and being filmed at the clinic could easily spark panic and FUD.
Now the community are the ones who control the market and support the technology.

Being decentralized goes beyond a terminology but also being seen to be centralized. A system can claim to be just and fair but in the eyes of everybody, its just a term that is being used to deceive people for others to have their way. If Satoshi has been around, I believe strongly that despite the known fact that bitcoin is decentralized, it will still be subject to some conspiracy that there is some behind the scene control that is being done by Satoshi that would negate the decentralization principle which I think is one of the reasons that Vitalek is taking this position but I doubt the effect would be as effective as that of Satoshi because while Satoshi has been believed to be a nick name, that is his own real name and whether he likes it or not, reference would still be made to him till forever.
874  Other / Meta / Re: Selling of merits and btctalk accounts on: October 08, 2018, 05:00:43 AM
I saw that many users are selling their merits and hacked btctalk accounts, shouldn't these people be banned? What are the moderators here for? Why are threads like those even possible? In order to stop the selling of accounts I think mods should ban the ones selling as soon as possible. Most of the account sellers are going to try to scam you anyways, so they can make easy money off naive people very easily if they are allowed to do it here literally on the btctalk forum.

Moderators cannot be everywhere at the same time. For even keeping the forum sane up till this time, they sure deserves some accolades. The issue of buying and selling has been something that have plagued the forum and I know some DT members have taken it upon themselves to clean up that section of the forum but its not a perfect effort. Its might not be eradicated, but its surely going to be frustrated.

This happened because of the implementation of the new merit system and turned out to be one of the new businesses here in bitcointalk forum. In the past it was only selling hack accounts now more income opportunities can gain scammers profit. It seems to me that this merit system is kind of rubbish because you can get merits if you can pay someone who can do it.

You are so right and entitle to your opinion but blaming the forum for instituting such control measures is just wrong. The merit system was introduced with the purest form of intentions to sanitise the forum and preventing garbage posters from ranking up. If this is now being bastardized by some set of people, then we should join hands to frustrate such effort.
875  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What kind of growth would last? Quick growth or slow and steady growth? on: October 08, 2018, 04:41:18 AM
We had a huge pump in 2017 which did not last for even 2 months. But look at the growth trend from February 2018. Though the price fall of bitcoin was drastically huge, it just stayed above $5000 which should be noted closely. I like this growth trend and wish this continues. Such trend will seriously bring in strong and healthy investors into the crypto market. We would certainly and undoubtedly reach minimum $25K by end of 2020 not falling back to below $20K. Kindly bring out your thoughts on it.

Even in the basic endeavor of human lives, there most sustainable form of growth is a steady one. When you see an individual who suddenly became rich without any obvious growth period, much often than not, its always a phase that would soon pass. The same thing applies to companies set up by entrepreneurs that started and in one year became the talk of the society, if we group such companies together, 90% would go under before then next 5 years not because its a curse but certain growth needs time to find a base to mature and penetrate. For bitcoin, I would subscribe fully to this steady growth that have failed all self predictors of what the price will be to the general feeling of the entire market participants.
876  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will soon reach a reliable low, below which the price will not fall. on: October 07, 2018, 01:00:38 PM
Again and again, its being sounded, when you quote a source, there is nothing hard in putting a reference as this would add credibility to the post and equally give an opportunity for follow up to anyone who is willing to read more not forgetting the complement to the author of such information and finally not getting banned on the forum for plagiarism as this goes to Op and those going outside the forum to source for content to be discussed.

One thing I noticed that is common to people who expressed their opinions above is the word "I think" and that points to the fact that whatever they say should not be relied upon 100% as its merely an expression of opinion that is not dependent on objective evidence and more so there is no uniform conclusion as some were of the opinion of falling, others were optimistic of further increase which leave the option to those reading in deciding which side they want to belong.
877  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-03] Bitcoin Price Manipulated by Cryptocurrency Trading Bots: WSJ on: October 05, 2018, 10:38:47 AM
When people are fond of giving excuses they will always look for one and the moment they could not find, they are left with ridiculous ones to dish out. And that is exactly what is happening here. There is no one else to blame now than the bots who work is purely on what is coded into it and designed to work the way its being built. Now we have stopped blaming the whales, government, saboteurs, miners and now bots that cannot defend themselves. It seems people who engage in this kind of journalism won't stop to amaze us.

Every sector of the economy where thing are being traded, bot is being used even on the stock exchange, forex exchange market, crypto trading market or commodity market where you can set a stop limit, place an order or buy. Its all the function of bots that is being programmed by the person its expected to increase the value of her investment.
878  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-02] Cryptocurrency Scams Are Successfully Growing Thanks to Web Marketi on: October 05, 2018, 09:05:24 AM
For me, I don't feel any pity for those who fell for the scam because right from the beginning, scam was written all over it but because several people have been blinded by greed, they fail to see the loopholes in such grand scam and that is what led to their downfall despite the warnings all over the place.

Its actually not the fault of the web services because scammers will always find a platform to do their service neither I won't apportion blame to Google or YouTube because they were only operating within the purview of their operations and to prove that they are complicit in the grand conspiracy is if they are collecting more than the normal fees for services rendered to Bitconnect in terms of advertisement. $1,000, $3000, or $5,000 is just a small amount of money those platforms will be generating on a daily basis from advertisement for them to be held liable for Bitconnect misdemeanor and that is why they are also coming up with the issue of verified advertisement.
879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Organized Crime on: October 05, 2018, 06:13:05 AM
A French security official was arrested last week on charges of selling state secrets on the dark web and accepting bitcoin in return.

https://www.coindesk.com/french-officials-allege-intelligence-agent-sold-state-secrets-for-bitcoin/

Quote
The agent had been working with members of an organized crime group, as well as specialists in economics, according to the report.

Has bitcoin become the preferred payment method of organized crime groups?

This your question seems out of place as it breeds some level of ignorance (apologies). He was caught for selling state secret. Even without bitcoin, he would still be selling it. Since time immemorial countries have been spying on each other while they have dirty agents all over the place working against the country they swore allegiance to get to an end. It may not necessarily be for money, it could be for favor, undue influence, coercion etc.

Bring bitcoin to the matter, its more of propaganda than being effective as they are trying to send a message that those who are doing so, we are coming for you and we should take the positive from the situation that eventually those who use bitcoin for dark transactions would no longer feel comfortable doing so.

Your prices are reasonable and for including minerjones as escrow gave me some confidence to want to do business. I have few questions though

1. Do you source for the phones based on request or you have them in abundance? I want to know because my interest would be for Samsung s7 edge if available. In addition, do you do bulk sales?

2. The shipping method, is it the private ones that takes few days to deliver or average ones with cheaper fees and longer days?
