861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: October 22, 2014, 12:59:21 PM
The new POR GRC wallet will be available on the exchanges in a few days, maybe Friday.

Is there any Exchange for Gridcoin 2 ? Why isn't it again on Bittrex?

What is the progress here?

862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: October 22, 2014, 12:32:05 AM
No that is not necessary, you can run your wallet just on one pc!

One simple question.
Do I need to run wallet on every computer where is Boinc running?
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: October 21, 2014, 11:42:10 PM
There are people staking hundreds of thousands of coins and the difficlty for POR has gone up quite a bit over the past few days. You need a few thousand GRC at least!

The difficulty for POR GRC was bellow 1 yesterday and today it is already 2.5+ and it will probably go higher as more and more people stake even more.

Hi guys! Only now i noticed all this BIG changes to GRC. Downloaded and installed new PoR wallet, but there is some mess (question marks everywhere). How can i fix this? I tried to change language in prefs - no effect. NWM, fixed it.

Also. I can't understand - if i have some amount of GRC on c-cex, is it necessarily to make all that "Burn" operations, or not?
Thank you!

PoR doesn't work properly! I am using several machines to compute, and I've got no coins from it but the staking "time to reward" grows, now it's 1000 days. GPU computing doesn't work at all (I'm using the newest Ubuntu for testing it). A lot of things should be done before the opthymism on exchanges. The PoR is thought to be a stable way of earning or a short-term pump and dump?Huh I hope the first, that's why I say what I say.

You have 6 months to burn your GRC from classic to POR GRC. I suggest you do it soon so you can start staking because the reward and the interest rate drops on a monthly basis.

In a few days the GRC classic will stop trading @ c-cex and poloniex. The new wallet will be put in place and after that GRC will be much harder to mine. So buy whatever you can now!

First time million evaluation, let's see where we can get after cutoff Wink

31    Gridcoin Gridcoin    $ 1,018,337    $ 0.031005    32,844,078 GRC    $ 3,987    226.83 %

I think there are still a few kinks that are being worked on with the new POR wallet, once that is taken care of the exchanges will switch over!
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: October 20, 2014, 11:35:26 PM
For GRC POR all you need for your conf file is :

rpcport=9334
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
email="your boinc email goes here"

Try and run GRC wallet for a few days and then check your cpids!

Are you trying to get GRC classic or GRC POR(Proof of Research) going?

Can anybody make this tool work?
It won't generate anything.
Thank you.

Instead of devoting so much resources on useless alts it might be better to focus on the good stuff! Otherwise you are just wasting your time! There are a lot of "gems" in the alt coins, you just gotta find em!
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation IPO Scam Cleanup on: October 20, 2014, 02:39:42 AM
Why don't we start a list of good coins and have people gravitate towards that!

I wrote this a while back and I think it is still quite relevant:

872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHY GRIDCOIN WILL HIT $0.50 AND HERES WHY on: October 20, 2014, 02:20:02 AM
Considering that most of the alts have crashed and burned and Gridcoin has maintained it's value 1 year after inception more or less is a very good sign.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: October 18, 2014, 03:54:05 PM
Why don't you signup for the 20 POR GRC giveaway @ http://uscore.net ?

Yes you need at least 1 GRC to validate your node like POS to begin minting POR blocks, but unlike simple interest your minting is based on your research participation.  There will be many giveaways in the future (there is one currently as anonerd mentioned: http://uscore.net) for people to get started. In the mean time anyone looking to get started will be helped on the forums.

Thank you for the concrete info.

I'm helping you testing, pushing up this thread, and finally donating my computing power and electricity to your project, and still I'm not 100% sure if it really works. I will support your project in long term in future too, because I think it's a really good idea (one of the best ideas in cryptoworld), but except investing my computing power and time, I will not invest my BTC, PLN nor EUR.
Here's my PoR GRC address: S5ePpF26ehemfCrrmkczLvnbXfvAazSYM6  I'd like to test if it really works as you have written.

Can I have a couple too, so I can enable PoR, please?

SEmmy4eKr6g35SHP3nvarycM1GW9rYgom7

Thanks very much!

someone please send me even a single coin, I'll give it back as soon as I mine the first block.

Latest version is Gridcoin Research 5.95/3.1.6.3: http://download.gridcoin.us/download/downloadstake/GridcoinResearch.msi

Thank you. I will see it when I get synced, now I'm still "1 hour behind" (in the morning it was "1 hour behind" too). I don't know why it happens. I thought that I'm on wrong fork again, but checked block explorer and there's the same block number. Wallet version is v3.1.6.2-g-research (yesterday's version).
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [GRC] Gridcoin Marketing and Strategy on: October 17, 2014, 04:21:11 PM
Just gave you a retweet! Smiley

Our new blockchain turns Gridcoin into the single most efficient beneficial cryptocurrency on earth (98% effective research).
Yet, things are usually more complicated than this statement suggests.
So getting started is still quite tedious. The new client has removed many obstacles but still need you to hold a small balance
to start computing on Proof-of-Research to help Science.
One way to get coins, is buying on c-cex.com or swisscex.com.
In addition, we came up with a free 20 GRC starter as promotional campaign at http://uscore.net

Then go to one of the exchanges and buy a small amount of classic GRC and convert it to POR GRC using the burn page: http://pool.gridcoin.us/CoinExchange.aspx then you will have some stake in your wallet!

For POR you need coins in your account that are "staked". This is not like POW where you find blocks with actual hashing!! Do you understand that? You either need to convert old GRC classic to new POR GRC or you have to wait till the around the 20th of October when the POR GRC starts trading on the exchanges and get some POR GRC  so you can start staking in your wallet!! IF you have no coins right now in your POR wallet you will not receive anything!! You need to have coins in your POR wallet!!

This wasn't clear to me as well. The wallet says "boinc mining" and it's not true.
Also it's a pity I have compiled, installed, worked on it and boinc-end and I'll not get anything for days, cause I need to have stake power for a coin which currently I can't buy.
Not everybody's been following the coin for months.
I've gotten in a couple weeks ago and read a lot of docs, but I didn't notice that for POR I need POS, and it seems I'm not the only one.

I mean PoR only, and I don't want to buy anything Smiley I have the new wallet and computing since a week. I'd like to know when my GRC will be in my wallet only.

The Gridcoin classic wallet will be shut down on the 20th of October and the new POR (Proof of Research) wallet will be going live on the exchanges!! So if you want wait till the 20th and then you can buy some POR GRC on the exchanges and start with the new wallet which is much more simple to run! Forget about GRC classic!

The new wallet is pure Proof-of-Research plus Stake now.  Only the wallet in retirement uses scrypt Proof-of-Work and the community decided that 6 months was a sufficient amount of time to convert the Classic coins to the new Research coins.

Great! I didn't understand it properly before Smiley
One more question - my world community grid shows:
Gridcoin       10/14/2014 - Current       0:002:06:48:15       9,964
the email is in .conf file
When should I receive first coins?

Tried to run boinc on GPU...and went back to mining. GPU computing must be improved or a clear instruction what to do, what settings, what variables etc published. Otherwise the best crypto-idea will fall and only we, three persons will write in this thread.
BTW: when I'll get my coins for CPU-computing during last days?

Please read the instructions carefully before doing anything! Also try a small amount first just to make sure you know how the process works!!

880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official][420] Developments & Discussions. on: October 15, 2014, 05:21:38 PM
Is this backed by a professional legal opinion? Cause I would hate to be invest in Cann and then hear about dispensaries getting raided for accepting cryptocurrencies!

What are the legal ramifications of accepting cryptocurrency for marijuana in Arizona?? Has anyone actually looked into this?

As long as you are a legal customer with your id and MMJ card, you are fine.

The merchant can take CANN as a form of payment or coupon etc.
