Anonymity allows for free speech. Privacy affords liberation from coercion/blackmail.

Each are valuable.

I advocated for anonymous student evaluations back in the early '70s.  What we have found is that anonymity allows irresponsible evaluations.  Anyone who has been divorced and had anonymous child abuse complaints made understands this process as well.

Confidentiality, which would mean the professor doesn't know who wrote the evaluation, but someone does, gives a much better balance of rights.

Great Seller, very trustworthy and great transaction thanks again!

I thought Bowjob didn't sell this after all? Huh

Random untrue compliments?  In bitcoin?  I have to go puzzle this out.

why isn't roman at the helm keeping people informed and helping them?

that's the 2.8 million dollar question right there

for me it is completely unfathomable

Might have something to do with the way people have been talking about him in this thread, like he's the antichrist or something.

If I were him I wouldn't be going out of my way either.  We're lucky he's stuck with it this long.

You mean, he gets robbed, then his bank closes his account and it takes lawyers and 3rd party help at an international conference to find 1 credit union that will work with him, we have no sympathy, respect, or understand, and furthermore we spread FUD, and wonder why he follows his lawyer's advice and keeps mostly quiet?

I dunno.  Maybe I can figure it out after a while.

(no, I didn't talk to his lawyer.  I have talked to my lawyers several times over the decades.  They all advise to keep quiet.)

Sorry I've only just got around to checking this, it's the first chance I've had. It appears that three of the 1% shares were not paid out correctly?

Am I right? Or going mad? It's been a looooong day...  Shocked

I'll check it out again.

Edited:

Ok.  I grabbed the obsolete list from Pistachio's post, instead of my own post.  So some people got a surprise extra payment.  I hope they pay me back.

In addition, I overpayed 18qDhkReMuFfciHshdpQhr3QhXZp82aWon by 1 share (0.06554496 BTC)

I will pay the 3 accounts their shortage in the next payment.  Then they will be correct.
Then I will pay the regular payments, with a deduction from my account and 18qDhkReMuFfciHshdpQhr3QhXZp82aWon.
Following that, the balance should be 0 (or immature mined coins) and everyone should be settled correctly.

People like you give anarchy a bad name.  You are trying to act like an authority when you say your way is the only way.

I have sent two transactions.  The first transaction sent change to a newly created address.  The second transaction used the coins from that address.

Anyway, the Avalon is delivered, live, mining, and the first payment to y'all has been disbursed.

At the Ubuntu command line, I typed

bitcoind unlockwallet "secret pass phrase" 60

908  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 16, 2013, 01:48:58 PM
I had a maximum temp of 51C last night, and my HW values were almost as high as my accepted.  The past week, it has stayed below 50 during routine operation.

Are you talking about "Accepted" vs "HW" or "Diff1Shares" vs "HW"?

"Accepted"  I don't see a number labeled "Diff1Shares" in the status panel.

909  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 16, 2013, 01:40:05 PM
Yesterday my avalon started showing a super high number of hw.  Almost 75% of the accepted diff1a shares.
For instance shares 100000 hw 75000. Any ideas on what to check?

I had a maximum temp of 51C last night, and my HW values were almost as high as my accepted.  The past week, it has stayed below 50 during routine operation.

It has been stable around 343-347 frequency.  I had --avalon-auto set to 285-375.  I just changed it to 285-350.

My output is conveniently shown at http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/18bLcVkviErQi75zB8X39jZXxHNpSZggdC

At the start of 16 Jul I moved the unit from a warm upstairs room where the fans fairly consistently ran at 3800 to the basement where they have run closer to 2200.  The dip is from the time it took to move the machine.  The stability and speed both seemed to improve, but during the night the basement started warming up from it's initial 69°F.

I also put a filter in front of the fans, and the fan speed seems to be a little unstable now.  Without the filter, their speed stays pretty constant.

I am preparing to make the first payout.  Some payments used more than one input address in the payment transaction.  For the first payout, I am going to pick one of those addresses to pay to.

Here is the schedule that I propose to pay against.  Please let me know if there is any problem with this.

why not hire someone in your city/maybe neighborhood to have a look at this for you? I bet you can find a miner around

In fact, I may be 42 miles from you.
PM sent.

what about the people that got screwed last year?   what happens to that debt?

I would guess that since there is no more business to earn profits with to repay that debt with, that debt is not going to be repaid.

I notice a mention of FinCEN.
915  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 15, 2013, 12:12:06 AM
My Avalon is in a remote room with good air temperature, but without wired network access.

I configured my Avalon so that a laptop connects to the wired interface, and the WiFi connects to my router and then the world.  The laptop can pull web pages while I am in the room with the Avalon.

These are the changes I made

1. I found a small subnet for the wired interface.

2.  I set the laptop to a static network configuration:
    Address: 192.168.0.101
    Mask      255.255.255.248
    Gateway 192.168.0.97

3.  I logged into http://192.168.0.100
    network --> WiFi
      physical settings
        lan
unclicked "wireless network" from the bridge
      scan
join my main router's WiFi network
        uncheck new network
        radio wan
    network --> interfaces --> lan
      Address  192.168.0.97
      Mask  255.255.255.248
      Gateway  192.168.0.2   <-- my WiFi router's address.

4.  Somewhere I set the WiFi interface to "client"  I forgot what tab that is under.
The DHCP details give some address
      Mask 255.255.255.0
      Address Range 192.168.0.xxx

This lets me pull web pages for reference on my laptop while connected to the Avalon wired network, and it lets me pull the web pages on the Avalon from my other local computers.

Notice that I changed the Avalon to be 192.168.0.97, and I used the Avalon address for the Gateway on my laptop.  That is using the convention that the low address on the subnet are the router or gateway.

This isn't completely finished, as I can't see the laptop from the other computers.

Please tell me this is a joke.  This whole thing is just silly; why would you outlaw abortion, and tampons?  Seems like they just want to piss off half the state.

You must go read the columns of the late, great, Molly Ivins.

Kathy Dawn at IAFCU called and left voicemail Sunday at 11:54 CDT.
I called back and reached Kathy, she was efficient and friendly.  There was a glitch in that they put a portion of my phone number into the documention on my account sign up card, but the actual password on the web page was first 4 of ssn + first 2 of last name.

I logged in while she was online, I am in the system.

What's the go with people with over $3000, but who reside overseas. How am I supposed to sign up for that account without a US taxation number.

After 9/11 it is illegal to open a bank account for a non-US national.

I don't read that into the link you provided.

I got it from here Where can I open online bank account without SSN?

There, I read an alleged success story by an African national in post #6

920  Bitcoin / Pools / Bitcoin address as worker ID on: July 14, 2013, 01:06:33 AM
Eligius uses a bitcoin address as the worker ID.  The statistics for all the addresses are visible without logging in.

I wonder if any other pools are also set up this way.  It  would make communication with my group much simpler.
