921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 15, 2023, 05:48:11 AM
In just a couple of hours, the first knockout match of the World Cup 2023 will be played against India and New Zealand. I just checked the betting odds, India is the favorite to win. I just want the match to be even and not dominated by one team as seen in the last 9 games India has dominated all of them. New Zealand is a good team and has some of the best bowlers and batter therefore the completion should be even. If the Kiwis bat first then Rachin Ravindran is the player Indian bowlers would be after.

You can cancel/eject a Bitcoin transaction but you would have to pay a fee. The fee for cancellation or ejection is more than the transaction fee. I have cancelled transaction on the same day using Electrum wallet. It does give you the option  if the transaction takes more time. For me it took like 12 hour or might be more.

If you are using Mycelium wallet then I am not sure but, I am certain  that my it does provide you the option to cancel a Bitcoin transaction.

Yes there is a feature like that on electrum but what it means is that you’re actually double spending your transaction to your own address by paying higher fee. The reason for the higher fee is to get it confirmed first to your address before the original or first transaction gets confirmed since the miners prioritizes transactions based on fee rate. It is not different from bumping transactions using RBF this one just sends it back to your own address directly.

Technically you can cancel a bitcoin transaction you can just double spend it to another address using a higher fee
Sorry there is a difference in bumping a transaction fee than getting a transaction ejected from the Blockchain. Bumping the fee is to encourage a miner in getting the transaction confirmed. While ejection from the Blockchain is getting it out and crediting it back to the wallet.

Technically Bitcoin was meant to act as a payment processor and behave somewhat similar to fiat currency. The point was to make a cheaper way to make payments globally. That is why such features were added to it.

As of now with the uncertainty on the transaction fee and how much to spend as the fee is more volatile than the Bitcoin price. I assume such features should be shared with everyone.

Opt "Cancel' transaction in Electrum is somewhat misleading. In fact it creates new (RBF) transaction that returns BTC to the send address of the "canceled" transaction. That is why the fee is increased when comparing it with that one relevant to the "canceled" transaction.
I think your way of explaining is more appropriate than mine  Grin. I am not a technical guy but I am aware of things happening within the Bitcoin ecosystem. I have also seen the cancellation fee being lesser that the transaction fee. The problem here is that I cannot show you but it does happen.
924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Uncomfirmed Transaction on: November 13, 2023, 05:05:34 PM
I am curious about how you cancelled a transaction because you can’t cancel a bitcoin transaction but rather will have to wait for it to either confirm or be dropped which takes at least 14 days. But what you can do is to bump the transaction or double spend it to another address. Check the https://mempool.jhoenicke.de/#BTC,24h,weight for fee estimation

925  Economy / Reputation / Re: Forum Loan defaulters: What is the best way forward? on: November 13, 2023, 12:32:36 PM
I am one of the regular borrowers of loan from shasan. I would say it is better to always give loan to them with whom you have a sort of lending relationship. Non collateral lending is a big risk and I have seen him regularly posting about those individuals who have defaulted in non collateral lending. It is risky but yet worthy if you have clients like me  Grin. They only way to solve the issue is to start asking for collateral. The second option is to ask for weekly repayments. The last option would be to stop giving loan.

Which two teams will play the Finals?

The current scenario is shown above. There are four teams left and each of them have proven they are the best of the rest. Considering the present games that will be played in semifinals, which two teams according to you would be playing the finals?

I think India and South Africa would be in the finals. Do you think the same or you believe a different teams would be playing against each other in the finals.
927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 13, 2023, 11:33:46 AM
I am following this project from its inception in 2021 to date. There are many things that are concerning with the project.  The first being the owner of this project he became non active for a couple of years. The next is about the wallet as I believe it is still not open source. The last would be it's utility as being on the name of a billionaire doesn't mean that it has got any prospects for the real world.

When the project was launched if the owners had continued working on development and marketing then it would have become a the next Dogecoin as the project was created only to encash the popularity of Elon Musk. For the moment it is active and might achieve what it was ment if Elon again comes out with something unique about a project on his X.com handle otherwise the project doesn't make anything significant for the investors.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not get scammed by this, specially newcomers. on: November 13, 2023, 10:30:36 AM
This scenario reminds me of telegram channels. They would add you without your knowledge and there would be scripted chats on the channel using bots. The scenario would be most related to how the admin helped them as in the bots in making good amount of Bitcoin through an investment of $100.

They always use the same method and but the scenario changes in different scams. Here they used a recovery service which is practically impossible to do.

I was surprised to see that Rohit Sharma agreed to crowds demand and gave Kohli an over to bowl. What impressed me that he got a wicket in that over. This team is enjoying the game and doesn't looks like playing.

Rahul was outstanding yesterday, getting a century in 62 balls is unbelievable batting. Shreyas was at his best again and the team looks good for the match on 15th. New Zealand have the ability to play very well in ICC tournament. They do have some of the best batter and bowlers in their team.

I am hoping to see a game of cricket where not one team dominates the whole game. India has dominated all thier nine games till now. They need an opponent who can challenge them for once in the tournament. I hope the Kiwis would be that team.
930  Local / India / Re: India trained 3,000 police officials on crypto investigations in 2022–2023 on: November 12, 2023, 11:07:06 AM

if its purpose is to bust Indian scammers in crypto that would be good but you'll have to consider also that these police officials can also hunt down big crypto holders in the end especially when the laws turn against crypto. Indian government is also confusing with regards to the regulation on crypto, sometimes i hear news their government will be banning BTC, but the next day it explains not actually.

Narcotics Control Bureau is involved in this and it sounded like there will be a crackdown on users using crypto to buy drugs.
did the Indians have their own Silk Road?

Cryptocurrency is already taxed in India, therefore there won't be a ban. Rather now the debate is about the 1 percentage TDS that applies for every transaction. Recently I came across an article on coindesk where it talks how the Indian government has lost $420 million because of TDS.

NCB is doing its job but I doubt Indian would have their own Silk Road. But our western neighborhood has something similar in one of its biggest province. Yes, there have been gangs caught within India that have use the darknet and crypto to make drug deal. Unfortunately for them they got busted.

931  Economy / Economics / Re: The Thailand government will distribute money to its citizens. Economists critic on: November 12, 2023, 10:32:28 AM
Where is Bitcoin discussion on this topic OP? I don't see anything about Bitcoin in it. What you writing is about government policy if systematic distribution of virtual money to it's citizens account. I don't think the topic is relevant to the Bitcoin discussion board. It is better to move this topic to Politics & Society discussion board as your topic doesn't even talk about crypto.
932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 12, 2023, 10:04:10 AM
The strategy by the Indian opening pair throughout the World Cup has been very different. Especially by Rohit Sharma, he comes out starts hitting the main bowlers of the opposition and doesn't allow them to come back. It makes the bowler confused and they start bowling badly. This allows India to get the desired number of runs in the first 10 overs. Later on Kohli comes and does what he is known for in 50 over format.

They are doing the same thing today. In the knockout match, I hope the openers are able to repeat the same strategy. The match would be played in Wankhede stadium which again gives them a lot of benefits as most players in the playing 11 are from MI team in the IPL.
933  Local / India / Re: ICC World Cup 2023 - India discussion on: November 12, 2023, 09:18:25 AM
India VS Netherlands

No changes in the team today against the Netherlands. India won the toss and choose to bat first. Both the opening pair are showing agressive batting. Shubhman Gill got his half century and Rohit will get his too. It is again becoming a one sided game as expected.

Edit: Gill out at 51 because of an incredible catch by the Duth fielder.

If they bowl well then they can win today unless Maxwell again plays too well today.

Maxwell is not playing today.

Oh! I was not aware of his absence as I am not watching that match. I was of the impression that it would be a one sided affair as Bangladesh is one weaker side. It is still a competitive target and without Maxwell Australia should be able to chase it, knowing Bangladesh bowling and sloppy fielding.

Meanwhile the English batters are doing pretty well against Pakistan bowling. They have lost two wicket and are nearing 200 runs. With this scoring rate they should get to 300 runs. Ben Stokes is again batting aggressively and should be able to get another century.

India have dedicated units to report cyber crime

But what about the efficinecy of the cyber related compaints, its pretty low as far as I know and India needs to grow a lot in this sector and need to hire the actual professional who equipped with the knowledge from top universities and train them to make the system more effective.

The next level of crime in India and abroad is cybercrime. We as Indians recently got the privacy law which has been pending for quite some time now. just imagine what kind of officers are working in cybercrime. India has tons of call centers that are scam centers that commit international crimes by calling people abroad and then trying to get money from them. These call centers are being reported by scam-busting Youtubers but our cyber cell does not have a clue about them. Only after the FBI reports them to India that the cybercrime division of the local Police take some action. I do not expect anything great after these guys get trained as they still do not have any clue what they are dealing with.

I know it is next to impossible for Pakistan to reach the semifinals but the way they are bowling now does not look good. England has to win today if they want to qualify for the Champions trophy. Both openers are looking good and it seems Pakistan bowlers are struggling as runs continue to flow. BTW, ICC suspended Srilankan Cricket on Friday the 10th of this month due to excessive government interference. This was going to happen but it took some time as due to corruption and government interference Srilankan Cricket has already been destroyed.
938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 11, 2023, 09:08:20 AM
Harish Rauf has bowled today some of the weirdest wides and has been expensive. England was struggling in the initial overs but now both openers are doing good. Bangladesh batted extremely well and this might be the first time they have put on 309 runs on the scoreboard batting first. If they bowl well then they can win today unless Maxwell again plays too well today. For Pakistan, it is not looking good for now as both seamers were unsuccessful in getting any wickets and now spin is not working too.
939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: El salvador first to use lightning network in 2024 with bitcoin ATM upgrade on: November 10, 2023, 03:15:54 PM
Coming back to the topic that is an excellent news coming out again from El Salvador. They were the first to make Bitcoin as a legal tender but in current situation due to Bitcoin network congestion and high transaction fee the civilians would be suffering. They took the right decision to adopt LN so that such situation in the future can be avoided.
Many people in El Salvador had to accept Bitcoin for their business payment from locals and they even suffered with Bitcoin bear market when price falls with time.  For example, in 2022 they receive bitcoin in a first week of May, then one or two weeks later they suffered loss in $ value. They were not happy according to some interviews as I know of.

Locals there even tried to use Bitcoin Lightning Network years ago, not only in 2023.
The state of Lightning one year after El Salvador's Bitcoin adoption.

You mean to say that Bitcoin being a legal tender has become a issues. Thankfully it wasn't until a layer 2 was invented, I ment the LN which actually has got a lot of potential.

They as in the government of Salvador, adopted and legalized Bitcoin for what? Getting hammered by high transaction fee! This is the truth nothing is stable and concrete as it looks.

You are right there government being the first to adopt Bitcoin and then going through high transaction  fee is ridiculous. Wasn't the whole purpose of creating Bitcoin was to create an infrastructure which would dent the banks and make a local individual enjoy their benefit of financial freedom with  cheap inter country transaction fee

The way things are going around I feel it would be a big problem in the future. Like Gold, Bitcoin won't be accessible to someone new to this system or a middle class. As we know already it is hard and not easy for anyone to buy Bitcoin without revealing yourself.

In the current scenario wherein the transaction fee is going to the moon, LN is the only way out. It implies to everyone who prefer to do micro transaction and small time traders. Binance is already accepting LN deposit and there are few others exchange that have also started.
