981  Other / Off-topic / Re: Matthew is renigging on his bet. He doesn't recognize Pirate's debt to Goat. on: August 31, 2012, 02:35:14 PM
I thought matthew had already lost his bet...

Quote from: Hexadecibel

Quote from: Matthew N. Wright
If he owes 100% and only pays back 90% without agreement to investors, -that- is fraud and a failure to pay back. I would obviously lose the bet.
If he owes 100% and only pays back 90% but the investors agreed to it, -that- is the agreement and therefor he has paid it back. I would win the bet.
If he owes 100% and pays back 100%, I would win the bet.
If he owes 100% and does not pay anything anything back, I would lose the bet.

but then:

Quote from: Matthew N. Wright
Post in this thread how much you're committing and I will double that amount you commit (maximum of 10,000BTC in bets allowed in this thread total) if Pirate does not pay out in 3 weeks as he described in his thread.

And pirate's thread:

Quote from: Pirateat40
When will I get my coins?
Starting Monday I’ll begin systematically closing and withdrawing accounts as coins are transferred.  I don't expect the entire process to last longer than a week. The moment your account is closed you’ll receive your coins plus any interest accrued up to the hour it was sent.

By this criteria Matthew has lost the bet. Pirate has admitted default and interest is no longer accruing which is in breach of the terms. QED.

Under the terms of the bet, pirate has until 9 September to pay the investors 100% of what they are owed or an alternative amount agreed to by the investors.  However certain it might seem that pirate will do neither, the date was set in the original bet and there's no reason to require Matthew to pay out before that time.

When I made my bet, I put the specific caveat in my bet that I win if pirate doesn't pay out 100% (regardless of any agreement by pirate). He agreed to those terms when he accepted the bet, so he is not weasling out that easy.
982  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will we get fooled again? on: August 31, 2012, 06:20:24 AM
Yes. People here will get fooled again, probably in exactly the same way, and in all likelyhood, involving some of the same people.

Eventually, some of these people will get tired of all the blatant scanning and leave, only to be replaced by a new set of rubes.

And the circle of life continues.
983  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: pirate payments list -- accounts paid: 22/459 on: August 31, 2012, 01:46:46 AM
Can we have some proof that hes actually paying these accounts? Transaction info, first hand account, anything?

It seems a bit, well, stupid to just take him at his word.

Lawyer up, dude.
985  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: August 30, 2012, 09:29:07 PM
Pirates rep is done and dusted now ,win lose or draw
i doubt he will ever be trusted  again

Except its not. People still trust him and are using his services (gpumax) even though its a strong possibility that he is using that company to launder his stolen coins.

People are idiots, and I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow pulls a second hiest.

As for Matthew, as far as I'm concerned, he already lost the bet. Pirate stopped the interest payments that he stated would be payed up until the final day of payouts. If matthew wants to wait until the 9th for some 11th hour miracle, that's up to him.  I'm not counting on him paying though (sorry Matthew, I trust greed over responsibility when it comes to monetary figures this large).
986  Economy / Speculation / Re: damn guys, where's our single-digit drop? on: August 30, 2012, 07:40:43 PM

Cheesy

what if Ron Paul Gets voted into office!?  Shocked

Then grab a parka, because hell is officially frozen over.

987  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can bitcoins break $5,000 in 20 years? on: August 30, 2012, 12:57:12 AM
Will the US Dollar even exist in 20 years?

Yes.

Even the war-torn wasteland, somalia, (which has no government or central bank) still uses the pre-war somali shilling. I highly  doubt the Usd is going anwhere, particularly in 20 years.
988  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Your Electricity Cost per Kwh (Which country is the Most Expensive) on: August 30, 2012, 12:49:18 AM
Colorado, usa 2011 rates (I'm far too lazy to look up current rates or format this)

Daily Charge $0.296

KWH Charge $0.0208

Demand Charge (Monthly) $1.20/KW greater than 50 KW

Minimum Charge $7.80/mo. Plus $3.40/KW>30
989  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How did people fall for this Pirate scam? on: August 30, 2012, 12:33:33 AM
The same way they fell for the one before, and the same way they'll fall for the next one: greed, inability to learn from the past, and lack of self-awareness.
990  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can bitcoins break $5,000 in 20 years? on: August 30, 2012, 12:26:14 AM
No.

I doubt it will even be around in 20 years (save for a few die hard enthusiasts, perhaps), honestly.
991  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is pirate considered a scammer by Bitcoin community*? Poll:vote/view results on: August 29, 2012, 10:21:57 PM
Pirate is not a scammer. BS&T is not a ponzi. It turned to shit because so many tried to withdraw at the same time when he lowered the rate.

I can't wait to see the reaction when he pays everybody back, especially now all the news sites have made articles stating that it was a ponzi. Many lulz will be had by all.

Everyone look at this post and laugh.

Then look at his signature and laugh even harder.

Edit: apparently he deleted his comment. I'm going to leave this up anyways.

998  Other / Off-topic / Re: (Poll) US presidential election: who do you hate the least? on: August 28, 2012, 06:51:58 PM
Actually, Romney is NOT YET the GOP nominee.

You left out Jimmy Puma of the All Night Party.

Technically, obama isn't the dem nominee yet either, but they are both the presumptive nominees, and will undoubtedly be the ones to represent their respective parties.

Who?
