Using 32 bit vgybin compiled version on http it was actually slower than other miners at only 2.6K a thread on my AMD FX 8 Core
hm, which link is " vgybin compiled version"? are you able to try the x64 miner? (realized no http V2 windows miner available yet) just wait for that, I will be doing that tomorrow.
982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: January 28, 2015, 06:12:52 AM
Guys, probably you'd better to run the miner at full speed; we got reasonably "good" payout in the past two days.

http://xmg.makejar.com/xmg-per-day/
Code:
Date	Total Coins Generated	POW	POS	Total Blocks	POW Blocks	POS Block
27.01.2015 5 212.14023786 XMG 5 199.21421990 XMG 12.92601796 XMG 1409 441 968
26.01.2015 5 104.13173231 XMG 5 090.20809468 XMG 13.92363763 XMG 1408 444 964

To mention, because of the dynamic change of block reward and thus the quit of some miners (we did see some big miners have gone), constant mining will pay you out the best in my view, that's basically what the title meant "proof of mining", think about it. Smiley
983  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: January 28, 2015, 05:52:26 AM
@eagleflies No worry, I'm ready being on the stuff and will finish it as like a promise and will get it done in any circumstance. Targeting day is Thursday, but it might depend as I have to finish one task for magi before delivering NOBL PoS. To be clear, what I am working on is

Code:
PoS-II + fixed APR (8%)

As a note, the APR thing is irrelevant to the PoS-II. There will be no middle state with "some parts from PoS-II and some from standard PoS". "providing an incentive for big holders to split huge transactions into several smaller ones" will automatically lead us to the PoS-II course (if "fixed APR" is the part from standard PoS, then I guess this might be the case you mentioned). I understood community's selection on the PoS-II, but was under the impression of your concern that magi has many code changes which could lead to stability/security situation. That's the reason of my previous post talking general PoS (that looks like completely out of the scene at that time Smiley https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=402667.msg10240117#msg10240117 ) So I'd be sure that "magi's code change" is no longer your concern.

I will be working on the similar features with magi (except that constant APR will be used); will post details once done.

@other members, rest assured this is not a takeover. People in NOBL community, kindly please ask for the return of your Dev: Rofo (I also believe people in this community should help him out the situation he is facing; any donation would help? etc, etc).

Im using a amd 8350 liquid cooled and doing about 65 kh with wolf-m7m-cpuminer-x64-0122-corei7 is this the same program then the v2 or is the v2 even newer?
v2 is nearly the same as the one you're using (won't be much different). I'll be compiling it in following days, or Spexx may do that too. Smiley Keep an eye on the OP.

I would like to test thise one also, but i dont know how to use https://github.com/magi-project/m-cpuminer-legacy-v2 so someone can explane to be how it works thx ahead.
Again respect for Wolf0 and joe  Cool
Right now there is no windows miners compiled yet. The easy way is under linux, compiling pretty same as the original miner except running with -e option (omitting -e option will be exactly same as the another V2 miner)

hope with all the improved speed, people remember that higher hashrate doesn't mean more XMG but lesser  Smiley

Actually, I believe it only means less XMG up to a certain point. After that, the block reward stays the same, AFAIK, so it's like a normal coin as long as the hash stays high.

It'll continue to drop with higher hashrate, until get to mining-fee, the minimum (I missed an update of latest info to the OP). The following image shows how it changes with network difficulty (Notice the lines nearly touching the bottom).

Great to see a lot of new members and miners.

Please take care not to join only 1 pool. We need a better balance of the hashrate. Maxminer's pool needs more miners, while nonce-pool has too much.

We had a lot support from Historical too, who did https://www.magipool.info/

@Historical, if you're around, post us your XMG address?

Is that normal for i7 4770 to run at the speed of 82kh/s ??
thanks~
Someone having i7 may tell that; what's the original speed?
988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: January 28, 2015, 04:44:18 AM
Good job !!!

I've tried to play on market. No motion there. Why? Any ideas?

What's the "motion here"?  Cheesy
989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: January 27, 2015, 05:57:39 PM
does this support http yet?

Yes, it does as I tested once, please test it and let me know any issues.

I have never liked the -Ofast compiler option, so I removed it from the makefiles.  Then I ran make clean and reran
make and after that the new minerd runs fine.  Speed increase from 5.03 KHash/s -> 7.23 KHash/s.  43%!!

I totally have no idea about those compiler flags, nor I had enough time to research & test. I simply copy those flags from makefile.am in Wolf's version and replace the original ones. Wolf, can you specify how / in what situations we should make use of them, and which of them are critical?

Optimized miner [V2]:

https://github.com/magi-project/wolf-m7m-cpuminer-V2

Credits should go to Wolf0. This optimization is done based on his optimized miner https://github.com/wolf9466/wolf-m7m-cpuminer, by further abstraction of the gmp computation according to his prior work, as well as a few other improvements have been carried out. Anyone who can achieve further optimization and boost the speed, please release the code accordingly.

The above miner is slightly different from that on which prior windows compilation is based; so the speed might be different (not much expected). I will get another set of compilation for Windows.

The following is the miner with "-e" option in order to adjust CPU usage.

https://github.com/magi-project/m-cpuminer-legacy-v2

Code:
minerdlegacy -o stratum+tcp://pool_url:pool_port -u pool_user.worker -p password -t thread_numbers -e cpu_efficiency

It depends on how we (I mean enthusiasts of MAGI) will support DevTeam and work together.

Two major issues:

1. stay tuned and keep calm. Be active and don't even think about giving up.

2. DevTeam should lead us to better future as well. I mean they will invest thier own time and abilities in improving MAGI. Thay can do that. Personally I am focusing on DevTeam's strategy for future. It should be most value factor, if they show proper way on development matter, all folks will be very happy. That's the clue.
Why? I know some guys who are waiting for any positive sign to join here.  They haven't joined yet, because couldn't see it.

It's my pleasure to do so. Smiley However, I must state that I'm not the type superb or hype on pushing dev forward as many as other coins did. That's beyond my capacity and also my real job doesn't allow me to do that way. Instead, I'd like to throw myself on this coin in a pace I'm comfortable with, though I already did the way much more than the "comfortable" level. This way could avoid myself being burnt, and keep me going steadily, after all I do this in a long run I'd like to live with. Crypto cannot be like the way of "life" yet, but can be the way of life too, depends.

Don't put trust on something completely, but be objective.
992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Future on: January 27, 2015, 03:01:21 AM
As our "spokesman" isn't online, I guess it's my part  Tongue

Welcome to the Magi community.
How did you learn about Magi? Are you interested in mining, buying/investing or providing services?

To answer your question:
Well, there are a lot of coins out there. Many claim to be/become the "best" coin or will replace Bitcoin. That's unserious marketing babble.
Bitcoin is the most popular coin to the masses and still needs adoption. But as Bitcoin has some weak points, that's the chance for other coins to take advantage.

...

Thanks for the input, mate; that's superb.  Smiley

Hello everybody.
This is my first post here.
What do you think about the future of this coin?

Good. Smiley

p.s., let others tell you.  Cheesy

eagleflies, check PM, let me know ASAP; it sounds a bit off what we talked. I will try to deliver this week, but also I got many things to do.

what are we supposed to do for this giveaway as I am unable to use the new miners without http support yet
I'll get a one tonight I believe.

Update 2015-01-26
We have been performing tests with james6546 of various PoS parameters recently and I have come to conclusion it makes sense for Noble to reach middle ground between "standard PoS" and "Magi Coin's PoS". The idea is to overcome some deficiencies present in standard PoS while trying to minimize risk of running too much fresh code.

...

- We will use code from Magi Coin which provides an incentive for big holders to split huge transactions into several smaller ones. This allows them to generate same interest rate as everyone else (so no penalty) and also ensures network is efficiently secured.

Hi eagleflies, thanks for the update. Wondered: are we saying the PoS-II, regarding the above point? I will do whatever NOBL core team / community tells me Tongue, but seems like some clarifications are needed.

You guys still discussing pos? Is anyone into action?

Real action is on. To boost the process toward PoS, I think better to do both general version PoS and PoS-II version (from my point of view) to make things settled quickly, and community test both (particular PoS-II test is needed in order to confirm the stability of the PoS-II modification as team pointed out). From NOBL community of view, simply go with the one you decided, though I can provide opinions, Tongue but that's none significant.

Btw, my working computer runs windows XP on top of i7, it's a pity, but I have to live with that thing; there are many custom software programmed for xp which is unfortunately unable to run under 7/8. We'll need experienced person to recode everything, but that seems not worth/necessary. We have a bunch of XP P4 which are just doing pretty good job in particular acquiring data.

Dealing with some job stuffs, can't do the coin stuffs, so will be able to post miner code till tomorrow night.

Yes up very early to go to work. You never know what btc will do. I just know Magi will do great this Year!
Magi still growing and meeting new people.
Surely mate, because of all of you guys' hard working. Smiley

I enjoy debates. And you probably could be.

Lol. I was thinking that the instructions for compiling the miner with Cygwin were published on here yonks ago and if they are followed to the letter then you will get a working minerd.exe in next to no time, though it will not be the fastest. Anyone who can use a keyboard and mouse and has just a bit of computer-savvy can do it. "It isn't rocket science" and surely a botnet operator could do it.

I've met many. Have you?

Do you know for certain that I am not a botnet operator?

Clever. However, even if you were, this would not guarantee you knew many others - this is necessary to get a good sample size when gauging their general intelligence as a group.
My question is, how these guys who know nothing of computer stuffs are able to create / operate botnet.
